Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Marcus civis (talk | contribs) at 14:08, 4 September 2010 (→‎Mark Burgess (illustrator)). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

Note: This page is NOT for challenging the outcome of deletion discussions nor to address the pending deletion of any page.

Requests for undeletion is a process intended to assist users in restoring pages that were uncontroversially deleted via proposed deletion and under certain speedy deletion criteria, such as CSD G6. This page is also intended to serve as a central location to request that deleted content be userfied or emailed to you so the content can be improved upon prior to re-insertion into the mainspace, or used elsewhere. This means that content deleted after discussion—at articles for deletion, categories for discussion, or miscellany for deletion among other XfD processes—may in some cases be provided to you, but such controversial page deletions will not be overturned through this process.

This page is only for requesting undeletion of articles which have already been deleted. If the article you are concerned about is still visible, but has a warning message (template) at the top, please do not post here, but follow the instructions on the template or on your talk page.

Note that requests for undeletion is not a replacement for deletion review. If you feel an administrator has erred in closing a deletion discussion, and you are unable to resolve the issue on their talk page, it should be raised at Wikipedia:Deletion review, rather than here.

Healthy multiplicity

Please email to me the history of Healthy multiplicity.

Incidentally, while I understand that here is not the place to request undeletion in this case, I think it's worth pointing out that the practical effect of this deletion has been to completely censor the point of view that multiplicity can be a healthy condition in some people. Multiple personality controversy has been redirected to Dissociative Identity Disorder (a name that is disputed for several different reasons), and the section on healthy multiplicity in that article has also been deleted. So much for NPOV as an argument for the original deletion. --David-Sarah Hopwood ⚥ (talk) 03:05, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Before we can do that, you need to enable email on your account. Under My preferences/User profile, enter the address and check "enable email from other users". When you say "history", do you want more than just the text of the article? More comment on your talk page. JohnCD (talk) 08:47, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Done. Yes, I would like the full history. If it's easier to preserve the history by Userifying the article to my namespace, then please do that instead. --David-Sarah Hopwood ⚥ (talk) 02:44, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I have restored the history to User:David-Sarah Hopwood/Healthy multiplicity without the redirect bit. The main argument to delete being neologism, with secondary promotion, so that is the areas that would need to be addressed. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 12:52, 26 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. --David-Sarah Hopwood ⚥ (talk) 18:58, 27 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please userfy me a copy, I would like to determine if it is useful for the article-it was once there -Chris (クリス • フィッチ) (talk) 06:46, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The image is a poster for the musical version of Lupin III, and carries no non-free rationales except for that article, so I assume that's the article you want. However, its use would be decorative because the musical is only mentioned once, in the lead; no commentary, etc., and the musical isn't the primary subject of the article. Hello,

I am leaving a message regarding the deletion of the following page (FYI, this is not my article)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Build-To-Order_(HDB),_Punggol

The reason for deletion was "Speedy deleted per CSD G11, was blatant advertising, used only to promote someone or something. using TW",

I personally do not feel so, as this page is a compilation of the past HDB Build-to-Order tender projects for Punggol (a district in Singapore), similar to the page for the "list of BTO Projects". Perhaps, as Punggol has too many releases in these recent years, it has been separated to its own wiki page (i have been following the BTO page for quite long). I do not know if you are from Singapore, but a little introduction - Punggol is a district here that is growing and our Government is trying to develop this district with more upcoming constructions of flats for citizens.

I doubt this wiki page was meant for blatant advertising, nor promotion of someone or something. However, i guess the person who created the page described it as "Upcoming waterfront paradise by Group8asia situated along Punggol Waterway, it will offer waterfront living and boasts eco-friendly features such as large courtyards and openings to promote natural ventilation and airflow to flats and common areas" made it seem like some advertisement. Will it be possible to change the description to something else and restore this page?

I work in the construction industry and find this page very useful, as to when i need to find information of a certain tender project in Punggol, i will refer to this page, especially when there are many upcoming releases. I personally use these pages as reference to my work and i am sure it is beneficial to others as well. Renestarz (talk) 08:25, 27 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'm sorry to say that "i need to find information of a certain tender project in Punggol, i will refer to this page" is the absolute wrong reason for a page to exist on Wikipedia - Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and not a résumé, business directory, or request for tender site. FL Technics

The article was marked for speedy deletion by user Bk314159. The user does not object to my arguments, and advised me to come here to undelete the article. Here is my reasoning as posted on user Bk314159 talk page: I want to ask you to restore the FL Technics article. It's not promotional, it's factual data. Also, I'd like to link the article to it's counterpart in Lithuanian language (since it's a Lithuanian company). The reason I put this article on Wikipedia is that it's a continuation of now bancrupt flyLAL airlines - the only national airline in Lithuania. The airline had been reorganized into separate activities, such as commercial flights, charter flights (thus the Small Planet Airlines article that is a continuation on a previous flyLAL charter) and aircraft maintenance (thus FL Technics article which is a continuation of a previous flyLAL Technics). Maybe I should reflect that more in the History section of the article? Or additionally put the article under some categories? -MilesToCover (talk) 06:38, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Userfied - the page has been restored to the userspace at User:MilesToCover/FL Technics. You may work on improving the article's assertion of notability at its new location, but please contact Fastily (talk · contribs), the administrator who deleted the page, before moving it back to the article space. Please see the criteria for speedy deletion and the relevant notability guidelines - articles that are not in compliance will be deleted. This is the same story as for Avia Solutions Group so you may want to start next time directly with a good userspace draft avoiding peacock terms and industry jargon relying on reliable independent sources. --Tikiwont (talk) 10:08, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

National Center for Midwest Art and Design

The National Center for Midwest Art and Design was founded in 2007 and is based at the Figge Art Museum, the oldest art museum in Iowa. NCMAD is headed by Dr Gregory Gilbert, the head of art history at [[Knox College][1].. NCMAD has sponsored a number of important projects and exhibitions, including the current John Deere art collection show.[2]. This is a significant institution in the field of 19th and 20th century Midwestern art and design history. -173.29.33.192 (talk) 07:38, 31 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Why don't you register an account (it takes less than two minutes) and start the article? The article was first created with no references and no indication of importance and, more importantly, was a copyright violation of Figge Art Museum#National Center for Midwest Art and Design, as it copied and pasted the text from that section of that article without any attribution. It was then speedy deleted, then recreated with no content and speedy deleted again. I will not undelete the copyright violating version, and even if it wasn't a copyvio, were I to undelete and then add your content in its place I would be claiming your content as my own. So just register an account and start the article. If you do so with the above content, it should not be speedy deleted as it contains sources, and does not appear to be a copyvio, though you shouldn't forget that to make those sources display, you need to create a separate references section and add {{Reflist}}. There is very little information available (at least that I could find) as to why the article was deleted nor the deletion process used. -karlwilbur (talk) 19:22, 2 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

it is not advertising - it is truth and the juvenile project is important. There was NO websites or emails mentioned and no "business" services mentioned. It was not much different than others I've seen on there. I would add verifiable references if I knew how. -68.3.183.172 (talk) 19:48, 2 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

OTRS 2010082210004537 raised with a clarification from the second party to release copyright - I would like to see the image page for additional verification before confirming. This does not preclude speedy deleting if verification fails or if unsuitable for other (non-copyright) reasons. - (talk) 22:22, 2 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No reasoning given. -68.3.183.172 (talk) 22:54, 2 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

On the contrary; in both cases, the deletion was explained as the removal of blatantly promotional material that had no salvageable content. --Orange Mike | Talk 01:31, 3 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

William_J._Lashua

I don't mess with wikipedia's pages, but to dispute against the deletion of the article on Joshua J. Lashua that he is indeed a significate person and is related to web content. Joshua J. Lashua is a World War II veteran, and hundreds to thousands of people are attempting to come together from various sources to thank him for his services on his upcoming birthday on September 4th. I understand if he was just another person, but his veteran status for World War II should have significance on allowing a page to exist on him. Despite limited dispute around 27-28 June, 2009 (on the deletion request page), the artist appears to pass numerous notability requirements at this time.

Although the artist has a minimal online presence, a google search shows hundreds of related videos, reviews, social mentions and they appear closely related to other artists and pages listed on wikipedia Beats Antique, Maduro, Amon Tobin, Ark 21 and Bellydance Superstars.

Perhaps notable that the admin who finalised deletion has dishonourably resigned?. -Visinaut (talk) 04:21, 3 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Consider writing an article in your userspace with some specific refs and asking for input from others about whether it's viable (need evidence to see what you're seeing). An AFD "delete" decision is not "and never", just a "not at the time of the discussion". Seems pretty obvious that artists could become notable over time no? I would have closed the AFD the same way given the evidence presented there. DMacks (talk) 04:26, 3 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

While this article has been deleted since 2007, it is pointed to by a couple other articles, as well as being a notable FOSS game program. Considering all this, I would like to have it undeleted, or if not suitable, either user-fied or emailed. Thanks. • Restored. Please note that articles like that one tend to make their way to AfD pretty quickly if sources aren't added. If you don't think you are going to add some soon I'll just move it into your userspace. Also, I think something is wrong with your sig. Protonk (talk) 21:02, 3 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article was edited by the Author of the software. Issues where raised (I have been told), But the Software author was unavailable to make changes. The Author is now back and ready to make the changes necessary to meet the requirements of Wikipedia. Not sure if email notifications of the any of the issues or the actual deletion have been sent (Are they supposed to be?) -Smurf-IV (talk) 07:31, 4 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Done - as a contested proposed deletion, the article has been restored on request. I will notify user Tedder (talk · contribs) who PRODded it, in case he wishes to nominate it at Articles for deletion. Email notifications are not sent out: you were notified of the PROD on your talk page, and issues with the article have been flagged on its page since April. If the author of the software is editing about it s/he should read the policy on WP:Conflict of interest. JohnCD (talk) 10:21, 4 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article 'Pierre Pica' explicit the mention of 'Pierre Pica' in the article 'mundurucu' - the article was deleted before I could even do links to articles and sites (see the entry 'Pierre Pica' in the French wikipedia. with regards Pierre Pica

I believe this page was deleted contrary to the guidelines at WP:PROD. The article, although brief, had one perfectly good reference and the proposed deletion tag had been removed. As the page is linked to from Return to the Hundred Acre Wood it seems reasonable to reinstate the page. Please note that although I am the subject of the page I did not start it. -Marcus civis (talk) 13:54, 4 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
