Piccolo Quintet

Did you see Piccolo Quintet on the Main page today? On the composer's birthday (I remember how you helped me with my first article!) - and it occured to me only later. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:46, 2 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Azeline Hearne

The best source I found, the book about Azeline Hearne, is already in the article. I'll see if I can track down the other sources I saw. UltraExactZZ Said ~ Did 13:02, 5 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Articles for deletion/Jameel Dumas

In your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jameel Dumas, you noted, "If someone finds and adds suitable sources to the article, I will reconsider." I have tonight completely re-written the article incorporating extensive news coverage on Dumas, consisting of multiple feature stories about him. I'd ask you to give it a second look. Closing DYK talk sections

It is much too early to do this. It's only been two days and not many people have commented. Please don't close any more. Johnbod (talk) 14:07, 12 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! Plenty of people don't edit daily, & it is noticeable that we've had no comments from some of the individuals who would be most affected by the caps etc, and others who had contributed to the earlier discussions. Requests for comment on far more trivial matters are normally open for two weeks and often longer. I think the remaining sections should be closed after they've been open at least a week, or when nobody has commented (on any of them) for 24 hrs. Johnbod (talk) 14:41, 12 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

John Howland

I watched my DYK entry for John Howland for several days. It's been a busy week, and you posted that there were issues, but it got removed before I had a chance to respond. Can you tell me what happened or lead me to where I can see what happened. I would like to know what the issues were. --Ishtar456 (talk) 02:57, 13 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there. I don't know if you're still active, but if you get a minute, could you take a look at this article? An anon IP has been repeatedly adding a column that has the company that hosts the event. It started by them making this edit elsewhere to mention "Mid-America Festivals Inc.", but then it expanded to the List article as well. Personally I think it's advertisement, but I could be wrong, so if you could chime in, that'd be most appreciated. Thanks. — HelloAnnyong (say whaaat?!) 19:49, 17 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Note also this edit. cmadler (talk) 20:32, 17 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ah yeah, I forgot about that one. But do you think the companies belong on the list page? — HelloAnnyong (say whaaat?!) 20:37, 17 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia Ambassador Program at MSU

Hi! I'm leaving you this message because you're listed as a Wikipedian associated with Michigan State University. The Wikipedia Ambassador Program is currently looking for Campus Ambassadors to help with Wikipedia assignments at MSU, which will be participating in the Public Policy Initiative for the Spring 2011 semester. The role of Campus Ambassadors will be to provide face-to-face training and support for students on Wikipedia-related skills (how to edit articles, how to add references, etc.). This includes doing in-class presentations, running workshops and labs, possibly holding office hours, and in general providing in-person mentorship for students.

Prior Wikipedia skills are not required for the role, as training will be provided for all Campus Ambassadors (although, of course, being an experienced editor is a plus).

If you are interested in being a Wikipedia Campus Ambassador, or know someone in the East Lansing area who might be, please email me or leave a message on my talk page.--Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 20:23, 1 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. If you add yourself to Wikipedia:Campus Ambassadors as an interested ambassador for Eastern Michigan University (see the "add a new school" instructions at the bottom) and/or University of Michigan, hopefully there will be a chance for you to be a campus ambassador in a future term. Ambassador are actually active at University of Michigan already (and there's a Wikipedia student club), although we're not working with any classes there yet.
Also, have you seen the Online Ambassador? That's a big need right now... Online Ambassadors to be on-wiki mentors for students. If you're interested in that, please apply! (And sorry for the delay in getting back to you.)--Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 16:30, 29 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

DYK hook

I saw you are active at adding hooks to DYK, so I am hoping you can answer a question for me. I verified a hook at Template talk:Did you know#Articles created/expanded on December 28 for List of managers of defunct Major League Baseball teams. However, I am unsure about the "New" criteria; only the prose lead has been expanded fivefold, not the list. Could you please look at the article history and confirm that it meets the "new" criteria. Thanks. maclean (talk) 01:40, 29 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • The requirement is that the article be newly created (which this is not, it was created on 11/28/2009) or have gone through a fivefold expansion of the readable prose. DYKcheck shows (and a visual check confirms) that as of five days ago the article had no readable prose (diff). Just to be sure that this wasn't a case of gaming, I also checked several prior article versions back to late-February 2010, and none of them had any readable prose either. Given that, any amount of readable prose could be said to be an infinite expansion on the prior readable prose, so that requirement is met. Keep in mind that DYK also requires at least 1500 characters of readable prose, so even though less than that would have met the expansion requirement, it still wouldn't be long enough to qualify. However, that is not a concern in this case, since I see 2492 characters of readable prose. cmadler (talk) 12:29, 29 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Bhutan

I took the hyphen off the word drukyal in the national symbols of Bhutan DYK nomination. Spongie555 (talk) 21:14, 11 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Bhutan is known by many names but drukyal is the most common. Dru-gäkhap(Kingdom of the Thunder Dragon) is the same meaning as drukyal(Land of the Thunder Dragon) just it changes Land with Kingdom. Since Bhutan is a kingdom it makes sense that would be a different name for it. Spongie555 (talk) 19:15, 12 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Alexander Ferdinand Grychtolik

I saw your name on my watchlist, please have a look at the discussion of Alexander Ferdinand Grychtolik, it's the first deletion discussion for me (not my article), --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:45, 18 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A result of the discussion: O angenehme Melodei, BWV 210a and O holder Tag, erwünschte Zeit, BWV 210, translating to "O pleasing melody" and "O lovely day, o hoped-for time", --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:06, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm, what's the source for the translation of O holder Tag, erwünschte Zeit as "O lovely day, o hoped-for time"? I'd probably give it as "Oh lovely day, wished-for time", Google translate gives "O lovely day, desired time" and this source gives "O gracious day, desired time". I would certainly use "Oh" rather than "O", which in English is archaic. cmadler (talk) 16:19, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
[2], - precisely because it's a matter of taste, translations are not wanted for the bulk of the text of the Bach cantatas, but I liked the tradition of giving at least a hint of the meaning of the first line, no more. "desired" is much stronger than erwünscht, but I never heard "wished-for" before, learning --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:40, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
And I see another source that uses "Oh glorious day, longed-for time" ([3]). "Glorious" and "longed-for" might be too strong for holder and erwünscht, but that seems to me a better English translation. Again, notice that this one uses "Oh" rather than "O". cmadler (talk) 17:56, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Glorious is way too strong for "hold", "desired" seems better than "longed-for", but both too strong to express just "wünschen" = to wish, and the archaic note matches Bach's time, when the U.S. were not yet born, and matches "hold" which is also not used any more other than in "Holder Knabe im lockigen Haar". --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:40, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
As I see only now, "glorious" was already in the external links", --Gerda Arendt (talk) 23:40, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm, I hadn't realized that hold was considered archaic in German; in that case it makes more sense to use the English-archaic "O". So maybe "O gracious day, desired time"? cmadler (talk) 13:26, 21 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Without telling you, I had taken our discussion to the Project Classical music. - Different topic: BWV 73, nominated for DYK to appear 23 January, is still waiting for a review, I was slow to respond because I'm travelling, would you mind taking a look. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:04, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I apologize ahead of time if I screw up the format of any of this, but this is my first day on Wikipedia. Someone alerted me to the fact that there was a page with my information on it and that's pretty neat. Most of the information is accurate but there are some things I could clear up, but I have no idea how to do it. If you'd be interested in getting the accurate information I can be reached at Cedar Rapids Washington HS and there is an email directory on the website. Nice article, when did it get posted? Soccer musical

Thanks for your smile about repetitiveness. Did you have a look at the soccer musical with the funny title, hard to translate, mentioned above it? You may like that. William Waterhouse was moved to William Waterhouse (bassoonist), I don't like it, it breaks links. What do you think? Should I try to oppose it? Or better not, being not completely free of personal interest? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:36, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

EMU off campus housing

Hi cmadler, I wanted to see what your opinion on off campus housing listed on the Eastern Michigan University student life page under housing. The reason why I ask is because i've never seen on a university page housing listed like pen place (or equivalent). I've seen affiliated housing listed but pen place for emu is not affiliated. Have you seen this on any other pages? I've been searching on the Wikipedia:WikiProject Universities article Pwojdacz (talk) 07:09, 12 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • I haven't really looked. I saw that a user had added it to the main EMU article. I moved it to the student life article and tried to improve it for neutrality and sourcing. I think that given the degree of on-campus v off-campus, it's appropriate to talk about it as long as it's neutral and appropriately sourced. That's partly why I added the universities numbers on on-campus and nearby off-campus students, and why I pulled Peninsular Place, Beal, and Barnes & Barnes into a single paragraph (to try to avoid undue weight on any one of them). cmadler (talk) 13:45, 12 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • I agree with you that EMU has a large number of students who live off campus but most universities (emu size and larger) dont house the vast majority of its students. I agree on keeping it neutral as possible.

The Chesapeake Bay

Re: this edit: Oh, I have no doubt that the locals use the definite article. My question is, does their usage mean that the article must necessarily use it? Some of them have apparently, when the subject has come up in the past, insisted yes, Wikipedia must follow local convention. That is what I question. I want a diverse group to decide how the article should read, and if general usage in the English-speaking world is to say "Chesapeake Bay is a body of water", instead of "The Chesapeake Bay is a body of water", then the article should read accordingly. To my Midwestern ears, the article's use of the definite article reads very oddly. HuskyHuskie (talk) 02:13, 23 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

EMU uniform

Unfortunately I'm not able to do it right now since I'm in class, but because there's such an issue with EMU's uniform, I will draw the updated image later today. Please do not remove the image from the main page or restore the image to the 2009 season article, as it will be replaced with another image. --Kevin W./TalkCFB uniforms/Talk 16:48, 24 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I've gone ahead and uploaded the new uniform. Unfortunately, time constraints will prevent me from uploading the old uniform image right now, but it will get done eventually. I'll be able to make some improvements to the current uniform image when images of it become available via EA's TeamBuilder, which gives me a much better look at the uniforms than photographs do. --Kevin W./TalkCFB uniforms/Talk 20:26, 24 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • The new uni image looks good. The only things I'd argue with are that: the "E" on the helmet should be thicker, with the serifs almost closing off the inside of the letter (close-up helmet photo); the contrasting shoulder features should be narrower, closer to the neck, slightly curved, and come farther down (the points are even with the point at the bottom of the collar, and are just barely above the team name; image). Thanks! cmadler (talk) 21:00, 24 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Yeah, unfortunately I had to make do with that logo, since I couldn't find a good block E online and just had to use the text feature in Paint. As for the shoulders, would you say they're like USC's? I based the image off of Northwestern's old uniform but USC's are a bit different. --Kevin W./TalkCFB uniforms/Talk 21:18, 24 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
    • Actually, after going back and looking at some photos I took, the shoulder features in your image are reasonably accurate to what the team actually wore, the school must have tinkered with the design a bit. As for the helmet, the "E" you used looks like what the school uses in the other logos, which is about the same as the helmets from 2002-2009 (see images at The Helmet Project). cmadler (talk) 13:22, 25 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A more clear explanation of my reversion since I was limited by space: the date is not included in the current version of uniforms because that is where future uniforms will be uploaded. Leaving the date off means that it won't have to be updated every time a new uniform is added. However, dates are added to the old uniforms. Also, as for the "football team" part, the NFC licensing clearly states that it's in an article about the football team, so adding in the phrase like you did is redundant. --Kevin W./TalkCFB uniforms/Talk 08:37, 25 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Depot Town architectural descriptions

Hmm. For historic districts I generally don't write detailed descriptions of the individual buildings unless they're very few (i.e., Bank Street Historic District (Waterbury, Connecticut)) or there's only one or two resources on the property that really merit such (can't think of an example on short notice). Jeanette Eaton is also created and listed for DYK now. Both were quite interesting. BarkingMoon (talk) 00:25, 22 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Nice! I knew nothing about either of them beyond the multiple Newbery Honors. One note is that they both received their Newbery Honors years after the fact. The Newbery Honor was initiated in 1971, and the retroactively named Honor recipients back to 1922. cmadler (talk) 12:45, 22 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Do you have a ref for the 1971 thing? I didn't see one. I've also done another Newbery Honor writer: Agnes Hewes BarkingMoon (talk) 01:13, 23 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
According to the official site, prior to 1971 they were just "runners-up", but then were retroactively termed "Newbery Honor Books". Our Newbery Medal article mentions this without citation. cmadler (talk) 01:32, 23 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'll add this to the main article. Also note, many of the early honor recipients would have passed away prior to 1971 and never known about the Honor thing. BarkingMoon (talk) 20:12, 23 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Such as Eaton (died in 1968). cmadler (talk) 20:16, 23 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

EMU student life

    • cmadler I totally agree with you that the main emu article is to long. I feel that the student life article is trying to encompass to much information that is very different from each other. I am cool with splitting the information (which you are right about the size) as long as it's an article that matches other formats with universities with good setups compared to WikiProject Universities. I want to make this article notable enough to make it on this list one day, which i'm sure you would love to see too. Can we try and find a middle ground? Maybe follow a format on the page similar to Student life at Brigham Young University or Campus of Brigham Young University? Maybe create a separate page for housing, a page for buildings like List of Brigham Young University buildings and we can do more research on some pages that fracture off to follow a similar format?Pwojdacz (talk) 14:27, 31 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
      • Reworking it into more discrete topics like that is fine with me. I don't even particularly care what the articles are called. I just think there's a lot of information that has a place in Wikipedia but not in the main Eastern Michigan University article: things like the list of fraternities and sororities, more detailed information on housing, etc. Generally speaking that can all be grouped in the classification "student life" (cf. Student Affairs#Student Affairs areas and note that "student affairs" is generally synonymous with "student life"). cmadler (talk) 14:35, 31 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • would you be cool with an eventual renaming of the page? IDK maybe something like Student organizations? To try and encompass less information because the other pages are created for housing a such? I currently work in student affairs at another university and graduated from EMU so I will be able to pull enough information to create the pages.

Seen, like it! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:35, 23 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Next idea: the normal case reviewer is one who has to do a qpq review, that means who should know the requirements for DYK. Perhaps the guide might be shortened and refer to the requirements (formulated already) for the (rare, I expect) reviewers who just want to review? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:11, 23 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Next: I like that the guide stresses that the article should be reviewed first, only then the hook. I am not done with the one which caused a hot discussion about the wording of the hook (+ a lot of attention) until I said that it was not expanded enough, period. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:27, 23 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Twig the Fairy article

Thanks for fixing my lame attempts at referencing in the Twig the Fairy article. I appreciate your cleaning it up! :D — Preceding unsigned comment added by Estreya (talkcontribs) 02:00, 25 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You're most welcome! Is there any possibility that you could upload a better-quality image of the book cover? Not higher resolution, of course, because of WP:NFCC, but more clear. The current image is a bit blurry, which is most obvious in the text. cmadler (talk) 02:08, 25 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I sure can -- it has been deleted before but I think that was because I put it on Wikipedia Commons rather than on Wikipedia itself. I take it they don't allow book covers. It made me a bit afraid I was doing something wrong here. I will get a clearer photo and replace this one. Thanks again for your help. :) Estreya (talk) 20:33, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Commons only accepts free (libre) files, while Wikipedia accepts non-free files under a limited "fair-use" provision. If you own the copyright (generally meaning you took the photos and did any photomanipulation), you can release the cover either under a free license (like Creative Commons) or into the public domain and put it on Commons, but you will probably be asked for verification that it is actually your work. Or, if the copyright holder has released it under a free license or into the public domain it can go on Commons, but again, there will need to be a way to verify that it's been released. Otherwise, it can go on Wikipedia (but not Commons) as a fair-use image, but it must meet all the requirements at WP:FAIRUSE. A key element of this is "contextual significance". WP:NFCI states that "Cover art from various items, for identification only in the context of critical commentary of that item (not for identification without critical commentary)" is acceptable. What this means in plain English is that, in order to use the book cover under a fair-use provision, the article needs to include "critical commentary" about the book. Please ask if you have any further questions! Thanks, cmadler (talk) 12:27, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Album categorization by artist

Thanks I appreciate your note, but albums are categorized by the artist to whom they are credited, not by each individual who actually played on it. Note that (e.g.) Led Zeppelin II is not categorized under Category:Robert Plant albums because it's not a Robert Plant (solo) album. It is appropriate to make Category:Led Zeppelin albums a sub-category of Category:Robert Plant albums, as he performed on all Led Zeppelin recordings. It would be virtually impossible and highly unweildy to categorize albums by all of the performers that are on the album and I believe that consensus is in favor of categorizing according to this scheme (see this discussion which mentions articles categorized by jazz performers.) Please let me know if this doesn't make sense to you or if my explanation is lacking. —Justin (koavf)TCM16:08, 11 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Miami Scandal

Cross posted to the named article: I admire the care taken by User:Blueboy96 and User:Cmadler carefully to source their additions to the article with WP:RS. I still don't like the speculative feel to it all (what happens, for example, if in the extreme Shapiro is making most of it up?), but a) I guess that this article on a current issue is the proper place for this kind of material, and b) I'm outvoted 2 to 1 here. I would, however, appreciate it if this recentist material would be kept out of the articles on the death penalty and on Miami football until something much more substantive appears. regards, Sensei48 (talk) 20:12, 21 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free rationale for File:Old ngr.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Old ngr.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. File:Mackinacpoint.jpg needs authorship information

Dear uploader:

The media file you uploaded as File:Mackinacpoint.jpg appears to be missing information as to its authorship (and or source), or if you did provide such information, it is confusing for others trying to make use of the image.

It would be appreciated if you would consider updating the file description page, to make the authorship of the media clearer.

Although some images may not need author information in obvious cases, (such where an applicable source is provided), authorship information aids users of the image, and helps ensure that appropriate credit is given (a requirement of some licenses).

  • If you created this media yourself, please consider explicitly including your user name, for which: {{subst:usernameexpand|Cmadler}} will produce an appropriate expansion,
    or use the {{own}} template.
  • If this is an old image, for which the authorship is unknown or impossible to determine, please indicate this on the file description page.
If you have any questions please see Help:File page. Thank you. cmadler (talk) 19:01, 3 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I just noticed this, as it was flagged by a bot for transfer to Commons, and wanted to let you know. My main concern is the lack of authorship information combined with the source URL now being a dead link. cmadler (talk) 19:01, 3 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This came from a US government database of lighthouses photographed by the US Coast Guard. No authorship was provided on the site, which apparently has been moved. I uploaded many of these lighthouse images at the time. I can't provide any more information.--Asher196 (talk) 00:49, 4 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

CFB article importance matrix

Cmadler, please confirm that a former player who is a CFBHOF inductee should be rated as "high" on the importance scale (two levels above the standard "low" importance for players). Although not expressly mentioned in your matrix, I assume that CFBHOF membership is a "major national award." Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 17:38, 24 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

With approximately 1,000 CFBHOF inductees, I don't think it's appropriate to rate them all automatically "high". I would put that under other major national awards (including positional awards, coaching awards, All-America teams, and national halls of fame) should start one level higher than given, meaning they would automatically be "mid", but can be bumped up to "high" on a case-by-case basis. Indeed, since a player "must have been named a First Team All-America by a major/national selector" to be eligible for CFBHOF, and the CFBHOF also includes the "post-football record as a citizen" and academic performance, I think mid is the appropriate baseline for CFBHOF members. cmadler (talk) 19:30, 24 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The Teamwork Barnstar
Thanks for your help finding references on the EMU student center article. it was much appreciated. Pwojdacz (talk) 02:17, 24 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have to admit, when doing a little run of Sports and Games GA reviews, I've been ignoring this article because I am not sure what to do with it. My inclination is to fail the nomination, as it just doesn't feel very complete - i.e.: virtually the entire history section deals with 1978-79, and nothing really beyond. (Also, I would move "The game that never was" up to the history section.) I don't want to fail it because of how long it has been in the queue, however. I realize it is a relatively small festival, so there won't be a multitude of major historical events, but is there more that can be added? Also, a section on the festival's organization would help. Who organizes it now? Is it volunteer based? What impact does it have on the community? Adding some of these things would definitely help the article out. Credo Reference Update & Survey (your opinion requested)

Credo Reference, who generously donated 400 free Credo 250 research accounts to Wikipedia editors over the past two years, has offered to expand the program to include 100 additional reference resources. Credo wants Wikipedia editors to select which resources they want most. So, we put together a quick survey to do that:

It also asks some basic questions about what you like about the Credo program and what you might want to improve.

At this time only the initial 400 editors have accounts, but even if you do not have an account, you still might want to weigh in on which resources would be most valuable for the community (for example, through WikiProject Resource Exchange).

Also, if you have an account but no longer want to use it, please leave me a note so another editor can take your spot.

If you have any other questions or comments, drop by my talk page or email me at wikiocaasi@yahoo.com. Cheers! Ocaasi t | c 17:11, 11 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Kokomo Bros requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that your page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. TheOriginalSoni (talk) 11:24, 7 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

T: template redirects

Hi, you participated in Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2010 December 29#T:, some of which I have relisted at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2013 November_18#T:WPTECH. Please come along and share your thoughts .. ;-) John Vandenberg (chat) 15:39, 18 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I noticed you have done several re-assessments for the above project, the last one 10 months ago. Are you the only one doing them, because the one you did 10 months ago is the last one in the archive? Can you , if you are not able to do them anymore, possibly point me in the direction of someone who can? I don't feel I have the experience to do them myself as of yet. Thanks for anything you can do. John from Idegon (talk) 05:01, 4 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Normal practice is that any editor -- including the article creator/editor -- can assign a quality assessment of Start, Stub, or List, and a Low-importance assessment. Any editor uninvolved in the article can assess importance, and quality to C or B. Assessment to A-class requires support from two uninvolved editors (see Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Assessment/A-Class criteria#Basic method), while Good Article, Featured List, and Featured Article assessments have special processes. cmadler (talk) 23:11, 4 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Notification of automated file description generation

Your upload of File:Briarwood Mall entrance.jpg or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. In order to help make better use of the media, an attempt has been made by an automated process to identify and add certain information to the media's description page.

This notification is placed on your talk page because a bot has identified you either as the uploader of the file, or as a contributor to its metadata. It would be appreciated if you could carefully review the information the bot added. To opt out of these notifications, please follow the instructions here. Thanks! Orphaned non-free image File:KaestnerErich.jpg

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:KaestnerErich.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 00:07, 1 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hey!

Long time, no see, Cmadler. You've been missed. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 03:08, 6 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! Not really back in a big way, but I noticed that WT:CFB discussion because of a new (?) "alerts feature" that notified me that I had been mentioned in that discussion. cmadler (talk) 03:41, 6 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
