Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Genbosmit (talk | contribs) at 15:53, 2 November 2017 (BeeBoard: new section). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

Welcome. Please note that this page is NOT for challenging the outcome of deletion discussions or to address the pending deletion of any page.

Requests for undeletion is a process intended to assist users in restoring pages or files that were uncontroversially deleted via proposed deletion, under certain speedy deletion criteria (such as maintenance deletions or rejected Articles for creation drafts), or in deletion debates with little or no participation other than the nominator. This page is also intended to serve as a central location to request that deleted content be userfied, restored as a draft or emailed to you so the content can be improved upon prior to re-insertion into the mainspace, or used elsewhere (you may also make a request directly to one of the administrators listed here). This means that content deleted after discussion—at articles for deletion, categories for discussion, or miscellany for deletion among other deletion processes—may in some cases be provided to you, but such controversial page deletions will not be overturned through this process. Copyright violations and attack pages will not be provided at all.

This page is only for requesting undeletion of articles or files which have already been deleted. If the article you are concerned about is still visible, but has a warning message (template) at the top, please do not post here, but follow the instructions in the template or on your talk page. Please do not request that articles deleted under speedy deletion criteria A7, G4, G5 or G11 be undeleted here.

Note that requests for undeletion are not a replacement for deletion review. If you feel an administrator has erred in closing a deletion discussion or in applying a speedy deletion criterion, please contact them directly. If you discuss but are unable to resolve the issue on their talk page, it should be raised at Wikipedia:Deletion review, rather than here.

    Instructions for special cases

    Codeproof

    Selman Munson & Lerner

This page was deleted because of a PROD. Nobody at the law firm was notified of the complaint or the deletion. Once the page is restored, we will consider the complaint and make any necessary changes. —74.213.7.194 (talk) 20:33, 18 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

There is no requirement to notify the firm of anything going on within Wikipedia, because it is not "your" article; you have no claim whatsoever to the article or any of its content. That said, the user who created the article was notified, at User talk:Arielgraves. Your firm also has no business making any substantive changes to the article, because you have a Wikipedia:Conflict of interest.
Because it was deleted in accordance with WP:PROD, it qualifies for restoration by request, so I have restored it. However, the article looks unsuitable for Wikipedia, so I have nominated it for deletion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Selman Munson & Lerner. You are welcome to make your case, grounded in Wikipedia policy, why the article should be kept. Merely existing is not a valid reason to keep an article about a company. ~Anachronist (talk) 21:24, 18 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Update: The article has now been deleted again, following the closure of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Selman Munson & Lerner. ~Anachronist (talk) 23:22, 25 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

i wish to correct the errors and try again —Pstocker13 (talk) 14:41, 25 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Pstocker13: Done – as a draft or Articles for creation submission deleted under CSD G13, the page has been restored upon request. Drafts and Articles for creation are not for the indefinite hosting of material found to be unsuitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. ~Anachronist (talk) 18:01, 25 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

    eXo Platform

It is a software company page that exists for years now in Wikipedia, its content is not about advertising a product since the company really exists for years, and it is business oriented with a professional intent this is why we are looking to feature eXo Platform page again —Nour-hm (talk) 16:49, 25 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Nour-hm: Who is this "we" you refer to? If you have any sort of financial relationship with the firm (employee, paid consultant, etc.), you must comply with WP:PAID to disclose your paid editing status.
That said, I have deleted the recently-created Draft talk:EXo Platform (Software), restored the original main space page, and reverted it back to a version prior to your changes that made it seem promotional and led to its deletion. Since you seem to have a conflict of interest about this company, DO NOT attempt to make substantial content changes. Propose your changes on the talk page instead. ~Anachronist (talk) 23:33, 25 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

    Instructional Technology Coach

Having worked on this page for many months and hours, mainly relating to the need to write in a more 'encyclopedic' way, now the latest reason for denial of publication related to its supposed lack of 'notability', something I find hard to accept considering:

A Google search for"instructional technology coach" produces 238,000 results

A Google intitle search: 1370 results

Google Scholar search for "instructional technology coach”:

98 results spanning a wide range of notable, authoritative academic sources

A Google Scholar intitle search - two results, one book, one journal

This is just based on the role as described 'Instructional Technology Coach', a search for variations on this nomenclature (described in the article itself) such as 'Digital Literacy Coach' or 'Educational Technology Coach' (EdTech Coach) would lead to a combined total that is far higher.

If a quarter of million specific references to this specific role does not count as notable, then what does?

I revised the title of the article based on feedback in order to use a term with more common usage in Northern America, the original title (commonly used in International Schools) is also notable:

If you Google 'Digital Literacy Coach' you'll see many educational institutions who use this term or the related terms in the article, eg 'Tech Coach' etc. These schools all use the term, and that's not including its derivatives:

I have yet to receive a reasonable response to this beyond 'because I think so', which strikes me a rather subjective, not to mention displaying a complete disregard for a fellow Wikipedian's work. —MisterMcHugh (talk) 03:08, 26 October 2017 (UTC) --MisterMcHugh (talk) 03:04, 26 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

    • I suggest you speak to the deleting admin, User:Premeditated Chaos, or go to deletion review. This process isn't for restoring pages deleted through a deletion discussion. Note that merely being mentioned by a source is not considered sufficient to establish notability, the source has to devote significant coverage to the subject (i.e. devote a substantial amount of text to discussing it) to qualify. Per my check the subject is notable, and the deleted administrator said the reason for speedy deletion is because the article has been deleted before, per my check i wasn't the one that wrote the article in 2015, i believe overtime articles should be improved and if there's any issue with an article it should be stated on creating admin's talk page or article talk page considering the stress one has to go through finding sources and an writing an article from a neutral point of view while avoiding Tabloid Journalism, for this reason the deleting administrator's point doesn't seem valid, per Neutral point of view the article should be allowed for more improvements in this case. —Is Nutin 07:00, 27 October 2017 (UTC)

@Kailash29792: Please ask the deleting admin SpacemanSpiff (talk · contribs) if restoring to draft space is OK. Otherwise:
Not done – this Requests for Undeletion process is only for articles that were deleted uncontroversially, and does not apply to articles deleted after a deletion discussion. Since the article you are here about was deleted after a discussion took place at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Pon Ondru Kandein, it cannot be undeleted through this process. However, if you believe that the outcome of the discussion did not reflect the consensus of the participants, or that significant new information has come to light since the article was deleted, you may contact the administrator who closed the discussion, user SpacemanSpiff (talk · contribs). After you do so, if your concerns are not addressed and you still seek undeletion, a request may be made at deletion review. ~Anachronist (talk) 19:04, 27 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

For some reason these were soft-deleted, which opens them up for a refund. This refund came through VRTS ticket # 2017102710003093. As I personally disagree with the close itself (and feel that it should have been an outright deletion) I am posting it here so an un-philosophically-involved admin can deal with it. Please ping me when a decision is made so that I can respond to the customer. Primefac (talk) 17:06, 27 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Primefac: After looking at the deleted articles and the OTRS ticket, I would say that it would be inappropriate to restore either of these to main article space unless these individuals are actually notable footballersplayers. They were soft-deleted because only one editor Fenix down (talk · contribs) showed up to comment in both AFDs, but that editor left a rather detailed rationale for deleting rather than just a "per nom" comment, so it seems there's a good case against them being notable subjects. Had I closed those AFD discussions I wouldn't have closed them as soft delete. I don't see the problem in restoring them to draft space for the time being, however. ~Anachronist (talk) 19:13, 27 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
    Thanks, I'll update the customer. Primefac (talk) 19:19, 27 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure what restoring to user space will Do, seemed to me like this is an inherently non notable individual. Unless someone is saying that htye think there are additional sources they can use to show notability I think this would be a waste of time. Fenix down (talk) 21:28, 27 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Fenix down: @Primefac: Well, the deleted article claims that player is in the highest-possible Turkish ice hockey league, so would be notable if the player performed in professional games and not just sat on the bench as a backup. Therefore notability is uncertain, and unproven in the article, but due to the level of the league, notability is certainly possible. ~Anachronist (talk) 22:11, 27 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Notable how? I see nothing at NHOCKEY that suggests he would pass the ANY, so that leaves GNG. Whatxsources have been provided to indicate this is not simply a case of restoring a non notable article to user space? I see nothing to suggest the Turkish league is professional nor anything that suggests merely playing in a professional league is sufficient for the presumption of notability. NHOCKEY is quite clear which leagues are sufficiently notable for players to be presumed notable if they have featured in them and the Turkish league is not one of them. This is a player who must be shown to pass GNG. Fenix down (talk) 22:22, 27 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
