Hot cat
Hi, I am not even sure what Hotcat is, but is it something that decides on categories by itself? Anyway, it seems to be removing Category:Mary (mother of Jesus) from lots of pages, e.g. Queen of Heaven as well as many, many others while far less relevant cats are left there. Does it need to be given a shorter leash? You can respond here, it is fine. Thanks. History2007 (talk) 09:18, 22 January 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for the Hotcat info. I may play with it later. I must, must resist getting on my soap box about the need for improvement in categories, but one day I hope to see a better form of Ontology (information science) approach used in Wikipedia. I started writing up something about it in my ideas for improving Wikipedia page on my user page, and it is on the to do list... so one day. Anyway, I agree that 60 was probably too large, but maybe some of the major ones like Queen of Heaven should be there. Cheers. History2007 (talk) 16:42, 22 January 2011 (UTC)
Project tags in redirects?
Is there some reason you are going through and tagging a bunch of redirects, which then show as unassessed articles in the project lists? For instance, is there some policy or rule that I missed where redirects are supposed to be assigned to projects? Granted it inflates the project numbers, but it seems to me like just a plain waste of time. You can answer right here to keep the thread in one place (not sure why you prefer scattering the conversation around either, but to each their own, I guess). Donlammers (talk) 19:47, 22 January 2011 (UTC)
- Classes Most of these banners support
Class=Redirect
and there are several subcategories of Category:Category-Class articles. Redirects belong to WikiProjects just like full-fledged articles. —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 20:31, 22 January 2011 (UTC)- Evidently ours doesn't support class=redirect properly, as it seems to just show as NA. I guess I will need to investigate how to add this. I also noticed that class=template just defaults to "NA", which is also not ideal. Well, I guess I will just go through and classify them as redirects, then hope I have a chance to update the template properly later. Or does the template know it's a redirect if it's set up properly? You didn't add class= to any of them. Donlammers (talk) 21:54, 22 January 2011 (UTC)
- Meta Almost all banners are created from {{WPBannerMeta}}, which can identify tagged content by its namespace (e.g. assigning
Class=Template
to articles in the template namespace orCategory
,Book
,Portal
, etc. andProject
for the Wikipedia namespace.) An individual banner may not have those features "activated", but that's easily solved by tinkering with it--e.g. {{WikiProject Knots}} has no assessment criteria nor does it categorize pages at all. It cannot detect if a page is a redirect, but this can be easily done with a bot or a couple of run-throughs with AWB. —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 21:58, 22 January 2011 (UTC)- OK, I will tinker with it when I get a chance. Tagging
Hi Koavf, I just noticed you tagged several Phytopthora articles on my watchlist as being algae which is incorrect. The same applies to Pythium so you may want to double check the others you've been adding. Thanks SmartSE (talk) 23:18, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks I'll look over that right now. —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 23:19, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
- No problem, Plasmodium is another one you might want to look a, although they are in are chromalveolates, I don't think that they are considered algae - I think that explains the others as well. SmartSE (talk) 23:24, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
On a realted note you tagged Discosporangiales, which is a redirect. We don't generally assess redirects as part of projects. --EncycloPetey (talk) 23:39, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
- Adding to the topic: Neither Lacrymaria (ciliate) nor Dileptus anser are algae. --Jorge Stolfi (talk) 00:23, 25 January 2011 (UTC)

AWB warning
I see you have been blocked twice before for going too fast with AWB, and you've been asked to slow down. Granted, this was a few years ago, but I am tired of going through the 3000 edits you've made in the last few hours to try to find your algae project edits. If you don't know the organisms, don't change their banners. --Kleopatra (talk) 06:03, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
and notice
I've asked for help to figure out what to do about your editing rate.[1] --Kleopatra (talk) 06:16, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
- You removed some algae banners that I had tagged on article talk pages. You are working in a very difficult area, the Alveolata, and your editing rate appears to indicate that you are not actually looking at the articles. You did tag a number of obvious dinoflagellate species as WikiProject Microbiology--this would be okay if you had not also removed the WikiProject Algae banner. The microbiologists are probably only interested in the common taxa which exhibit toxicity in humans.
- Please simply revert all removals of WikiProject Algae banners that you did not originally place. WikiProject Algae is pretty obscure and the banners have been placed thoughtfully by individual editors with knowledge of the topic or by a bot at the direction of the project. If you don't understand the taxonomy of the chromalveolates, then please do not tag them.
- Thanks. --Kleopatra (talk) 04:03, 26 January 2011 (UTC)
Category talk:Mountains of the Sierra Nevada (U.S.)
Ah, you added this to the Nevada project when it is about mountain peaks in California. Vegaswikian (talk) 06:23, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
Fountain of Neptune
I've removed the template from Talk:Fountain of Neptune and deleted the empty page. A fountain has nothing to do with the Project:Mountains. I suppose that you may have put this template on the talk page of other articles about fountains. You probably have been too eager and you better sort this out. Non-mountains as mountains?
I'm looking at the addition to the Talk:Count of Vannes for Wiki-project mountains and am trying to figure out why that was so labelled. There are other similar ones that don't make sense.Naraht (talk) 11:52, 25 January 2011 (UTC)

Reviewing edits
What do you mean when you say you are "reviewing edits"? I've looked back to see, and in many cases, you rapidly replaced correct tags with incorrect tags. For example Sea wrack is not in Project Microbiology. In fact, many algae are not microbes. Yes, there is some overlap between the two project since some algae are also microbes, but not all algal articles have microbiological content. In other words, not all "protists" are microbes, and in fact the idea of "protists" is falling out of favor partly for that reason.
You also tagged a stub about a species of grass as belonging to Project Sweden, which makes no sense to me since the article does not mention Sweden at all. Tagging articles requires critical appraisal and knowledge of the subject material. Your one-edit-per-second rate produces many, many errors and makes it very difficult for the community to respond and correct the problems. You need to actually look at the articles you're tagging or "reviewing" and make fewer assumptions about topics you are unfamiliar with. --EncycloPetey (talk) 04:17, 26 January 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you I will look at the articles within this category and its sister categories to see if I have done the same. Thanks again. Can you point me to the grass article? —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 04:19, 26 January 2011 (UTC)
- EncycloPetey has an excellent point, "Tagging articles requires critical appraisal and knowledge of the subject material." WikiProject Algae already has access to an operator and his bot who tags articles under the direction of the project. He has not tagged all of the articles, because it is not possible to simply tag all of the articles. He only tags articles after a human editor has checked the entire category. The chromalveolates don't have tags simply because so many of them don't require algae tags, and, for many, the microbiology tags are also a stretch (Tree of Life would be appropriate for these). The taxonomies are complex. If they weren't all of the articles would already be tagged by a bot.
- Your current offer to check and untag/tag articles that you have impacted may be workable; but, again, because you chose to tag in the chromalveolata, you may not be able to figure out, without a lot of research, which articles you can leave your tags on. Almost all removals that you made were inappropriate, however.
- There may be some edits that you can make, or ways you can help at WikiProject Algae; but there is nothing you can do without thought at 1000 articles/hour. --Kleopatra (talk) 05:04, 26 January 2011 (UTC)
Project banners
Hi Koavf,
You recently tagged a large number of pages with {{WikiProject Arthropods}}, all beginning with the letter A. This makes me worry that you might be tempted to continue with B–Z. Many of the pages you tagged were redirects, which do not need to be tagged. Some of the remainder fall under the auspices of our daughter projects, {{WikiProject Spiders}}, {{WikiProject Insects}} and {{WikiProject Lepidoptera}}, and should be tagged with those templates instead. Almost all of the remainder were articles marked with a stub tag; it would be very helpful if you could assess those as |class=stub
in future. Similarly, it's fair to assume that any new article is of low importance, and can be marked with |importance=low
as well. I look through all the newly listed articles, so anything that seems like it deserves a higher rating won't be ignored. This would save others (basically, me) from spending too much time assessing articles that could have already been assessed.
p.s. I prefer to keep conversations together; please respond here, rather than on my talk page. --Stemonitis (talk) 07:11, 26 January 2011 (UTC)
- Tagging Per the above conversations, I am not tagging biology-related articles. If you would like me to look over these edits, I would be happy to do so. —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 07:13, 26 January 2011 (UTC)

Hi, I think adding a winners category for this seems like overkill - the expressed purpose of these awards is publicity and the prestige is not on par with the Grammys at all. Also the article lists look complete, no? Hekerui (talk) 08:47, 27 January 2011 (UTC)

Project banners 50% accuracy - please stop/revert
Have you fixed all of your mistakes? I don't see it in your edit history.
I could have improved an article instead of spending an hour investigating 14 of your edits. So, you add 14 edits to your edit count, but 6 were bad and it cost wikipedia a good article. This seems to me that your edit count is -1 for every 14 that you make.
Please revert all of your organism talk page banners that have not been verified. There are plenty of good responsible edits that you can make to boost your edit count without resorting to creating problems that other editors have to correct. You appeared to be agreeable to fixing the edits, but you have not done so now.
A bad or wrong article is worse than no article.--Kleopatra (talk) 13:43, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
AWB access removed
Could you please show me where you obtained consensus from the various WikiProjects that you are tagging for? If a WikiProject wanted articles to be mass-tagged, they could engage one of the bots designed for that purpose (which could also autoassess where possible). You are creating an awful lot of work for others (flooding their unassessed articles category) with this tagging. You also seems to be running these tasks in an automated fashion (as evidenced by AWB running at a high rate of speed - approaching 50 epm in violation of the rules of use - while you were simultaneously using Hotcat to edit other articles), in which case it should be moved to a bot account and be approved by BAG. I've removed your AWB access pending an explanation of the above and also your repairing the various errors that have been pointed out above. Please reply here to keep things in one place. –xenotalk 13:54, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
- Relevant edits I believe that I have addressed all of the issues brought up by the users on this talk page regarding my edits (e.g. I have fixed the "Kuwait-as-Latvia" tags) and I have finally posted a list to both WT:PLANTS and WT:ALGAE asking for them to review my edits to their talk pages (here and here.) As I explained there, I have no intention on mass-tagging talk pages, nor will I be adding tags to technical and scientific pages where I am ignorant—this was a huge headache for everyone involved. Please let me know if there is anything else you think I can do to rectify this matter. —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 23:53, 7 June 2011 (UTC)
- Can you confirm that you will no longer engage on mass tagging runs unless the projects request it? And ensure your edits are free of errors as much as is possible? FYI I have been unable to run my bot in recent times. Perhaps a good way to ease back into AWB editing would be to fulfill the desired tagging requests at User:Xenobot/R? These requests seek auto-assessment, which can be accomplished with some AWB settings files I can send you. Please let me know. Even if you don't want to take on these tasks, I don't have a problem with your AWB access being restored as long as you agree to seek consensus prior to engaging on mass editing campaigns. –xenotalk 00:53, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
- Definitely I don't want to deal with this again, that's for sure. I have consulted with two appropriate WikiProjects to see if they can assist me and I've already gone through my edits several times to ensure that they don't have any errors that I can see—of course, the problem here is that these are technical/scientific articles where I lack expertise, so I can't personally ensure that they aren't mistagged (of course, I thought they were correctly tagged in the first place!) I can take a look at that list and I'd be happy to do some tasks—I actually kind of like monotonous, data-entry style edits. Thanks for your response. —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 00:58, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
- I've restored your access; please just ensure you have an affirmative consensus for mass tasks in the future. Please shoot me an email and I can send you the settings file needed to accomplish the Mk V requests. –xenotalk 12:21, 8 June 2011 (UTC)

Latvia project tagging
It seems that about 160 Latvia-related pages which you tagged recently were tagged for WikiProject Kuwait (see list) ... I assume it was some sort of copy-pasting error within AWB. Also, is it standard to tag even assessment-related pages (e.g., Category:High-importance Foo articles, Category:Category-class Foo articles)? Grace Potter and the Nocturnals
Hi Koavf, I reverted your recent move of Grace Potter and the Nocturnals to Grace Potter and The Nocturnals. Their official site uses a lowercase t, and we generally don't capitalize the definite article unless it's habitually capitalized in running text -- ie. we capitalize The Beatles and The Who, but most of the "X and the Y" style band names will have a lowercase t. Examples: Derek and the Dominos, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Katrina and the Waves, Martha and the Vandellas, Antony and the Johnsons etc. Regards, Jafeluv (talk) 08:30, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

Religion categories in biographies
On Wikipedia a person must self-identify with a particular denomination before being categorized; and the only way to know if they self-identify is a source indicating that the person is currently Catholic (or Baptist, or atheist, or whatever). That standard is frequently violated because many people think they can put anything about a person's religous beliefs in an article without reliable sourcing. If someone grows up an atheist but is now a Christian (see William J. Murray), do we put that person in the "Atheists" category?" MANY people grow up in a particular denomination (or lack thereof in Murray's case) but do not end up claiming that perspective when they are adults. This is a simple matter of following one of the very cornerstones of Wikipedia: "The threshold for inclusion in Wikipedia is verifiability, not truth." Roger Ebert's article doesn't state that he is currently Catholic; in fact, it clearly sources that he considers himself agnostic. If you want to restore the category, please find a sourced statement to that effect. And remember, the responsibility for sourcing is on the person who adds or restores information. Thank you. Fair use rationale for File:Led_Zeppelin_-_The_Song_Remains_the_Same_DVD_(Collector's_Edition).jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Led_Zeppelin_-_The_Song_Remains_the_Same_DVD_(Collector's_Edition).jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Melesse (talk) 22:45, 13 March 2011 (UTC)

While this seems to be a low number, what makes the donation unique is the curatorial involvement in choosing and vetting the images for their appropriateness and usefulness within Wikimedia (many of the objects are copyrighted toys and other works that have copyright restrictions.) The curators in the collections department were very hands-on in their involvement, and we'll be outlining this process in an upcoming case study. If you would like to help further this process, I'd be happy for you to help disperse the images into useful Wikipedia articles, or let the appropriate WikiProjects know of the new images. Another 30 will be uploaded in the coming month.
In addition to the collaboration with the Museum Apprentice Program students and the curatorial department, another important collaboration was between User:Ealdgyth and the American Collections curators to significantly update the Broad Ripple Park Carousel article. After an impressive amount of time and work, the article has now received Featured Article status. The museum is absolutely thrilled and will now be adding a QR code to the carousel exhibit Carousel: Wishes and Dreams. In the future, more QR codes will be added to the objects that have had articles written by the MAP students. We're excited by the success of this collaboration & will also be writing a case study on the process.

Universalist categories and POV and OR editing
Unless you can provide properly referenced support for your claims that certain people were universalists then all such edits will continue to be reverted in accordance with Wikipedia's policies against point of view (POV) and original research (OR) editing. - Universalist clergy I saw your post here, but since category talk pages are usually wastelands for discussion, I figured I would post here... What is the point you're trying to make? Can you please re-word your objection here--I honestly don't understand it. I prefer if you respond on my talk and I apologize if this is needlessly complex. —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 20:15, 1 May 2011 (UTC)
- Hi, nothing special - just that "Universalist clergy" is a bit of a dud outside the c.1750-1960 timeframe the Universalist Church existed. If someone is an RC Priest, Anglican vicar, but has Universalist views, then he is not "Universalist clergy". Cheers. In ictu oculi (talk) 20:22, 1 May 2011 (UTC)
- Universalists Note that Category:Clergy of the Universalist Church of America is a subcat of the one in question. There is a distinction between clergy who are Universalists and the clergy of this former denomination (although all of the latter belong to the former.) —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 20:25, 1 May 2011 (UTC)
- Then that's a misleading cat. Are you sure? Who have you asked? In ictu oculi (talk) 06:12, 2 May 2011 (UTC)

- What's more an issue is the cat of individuals without any source. You added 5 different Universalist cats to Philip Schaff, yet there's not a hint that he was a Universalist, and the U. magazine calls him "Dr Schaff is orthodox but". Cats are great, but sources help too. In ictu oculi (talk) 06:11, 2 May 2011 (UTC)
Lived to 1903 justifies a duplicate tag "19th Century Universalists" "20th Century Universalists"?
Please stop If someone died in 1903, that was in the 20th century. This edit removes a relevant, not a "duplicate" category. —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 06:05, 2 May 2011 (UTC)
- I don't know. Please paste here _________________ the relevant Wikipedia guideline that indicates a duplicate is needed. My understanding is that if someone's WP:Notability, all their published works, etc. is 19th C they go in the 19thC cat, irrespective of whether in their retirement they lived on another three years. Which might be wrong. So please paste above the link. In ictu oculi (talk) 06:11, 2 May 2011 (UTC)

Note to everyone
I'm back I'm not editing at anywhere near the rate I was before, but I have some free time now and will check in now and again. I will make it a point to catch up to everyone who has posted on my talk since January and try to resolve all of their issues in due time--right now, I am pencilling in this weekend, but please forgive me if I can't make that deadline. RE: What's been going on?
Not much, I haven't been as active as I would like to be on wiki. I've been very busy IRL, and I'm not sure when exactly it will slow down. I would love to collaborate on something, but it may be slow going. The only thing that immediately comes to mind would be The Age of Adz or All Delighted People (I would have a preference for ADP: we could shoot for DYK, then GA). - I'm not dead-set on the sufjan albums, but actually a film article sounds like it would be good change of pace for me. A quick rundown of some of my favorites that I wouldn't mind researching (with articles that could use work): The Sixth Sense, Ponyo, Death Proof, The Silence of the Lambs (film), Amélie, The Man Who Wasn't There/Fargo (film), Trainspotting (film), Reign Over Me. Any of those interest you? Jujutacular talk 04:00, 2 May 2011 (UTC)
Official language of the Sahrawi republic
On the Sahrawi Arabic Democratic Republic a recurring issue going back over years is that some editors insist on including Spanish in the info box. This would be fine if Spanish was an official language but it is not: Constitution - Article 4:La langue arabe est la langue nationale officielle.[Trans: The Arab language is the national official language (no Spanish!)]. I am dropping you a note here because you previously edited this article and not many people are bothered with it so perhaps you could participate and help put down these attempts to include inaccurate information...Thanks. 109.76.199.226 (talk) 08:53, 2 May 2011 (UTC)

GLITUS(BS) -- Very Long and Split Templates
Hello, Koavf. There's currently a discussion about splitting up the Gun laws in the United States (by state) article, into a much shorter main article and 51 state articles. There's a Split template at the top of the article, directing editors to the discussion about this. In my opinion, the Very Long template is therefore superfluous, or superseded by the Split template, so I've removed it again. With that being said, I would encourage you to join the discussion, at Talk:Gun laws in the United States (by state)#Splitting up the article. (If you reply here, I will see what you say, or if you disagree about the Very Long template you could also explain in the article talk page section.) Thanks. — Mudwater (Talk) 00:41, 16 May 2011 (UTC)

"Non-notable comp"
Hello, you recently started seven new AfD's for compilation albums, and for every single one your unhelpful reasoning is merely "Non-notable comp." Per WP:JNN you have failed to provide any useful information for others who might want to contribute to the discussion. --DOOMSDAYER520 (Talk|Contribs) 16:33, 16 May 2011 (UTC)
- If you're reading this, you also violated WP:JNN with your non-descriptive PROD at History of Rock (vinyl series), and when your PROD gets declined the answer is not to simply plaster on an even less descriptive CSD attempt. I suggest you rethink your scorched-earth deletion pattern before someone considers bringing it up at the notice board. Take WP:ATA and WP:BEFORE as seriously as you take the various notability guidelines. Sincerely, --DOOMSDAYER520 (Talk|Contribs) 16:07, 20 May 2011 (UTC)

Baha'u'llah category
Not, I think, worth me reverting again - but the "comparison" is absolutely 100% precise, even to the mention of non-existent states - "Iran" was "Persia" at the time. Roughly (and only roughly, there's been a few border changes) same area, but different name, at least for the country as a whole ("Persia" is nowadays the specifically Farsi speaking part of Iran), TOTALLY different secular government (although, alas, it's still the same old clerics really running things). Perhaps we DO need one for formerly Jewish Israelis? The point I wanted to make is that this is about as silly a category as I can think of! No real objection all the same - "categories" are NOT, I fear a part of Wikipedia that really function that well - and I know there are some real Lulus out there. I also have a feeling that there are one or two other editors who WILL jump on this one, anyway. Best wishes and all that... --Soundofmusicals (talk) 00:33, 22 May 2011 (UTC)
- Reply to comment on my page: And Jesus was a Jew, right. Not saying the category is wrong - just plain silly. --Soundofmusicals (talk) 00:47, 22 May 2011 (UTC)
- Further reply to further edit on my talk page (do we need to bring these together? - I started to do it this way from your remarks up the top).
- ANYWAY - funny as it may seem - even in this way the comparison is pretty spot on. Baha'u'llah and his early diciples all went to prayers in the mosque every Friday - in fact most early Christian Baha'is didn't stop going to church! A prominent early Irish Baha'i formally resigned from his Anglican priesthood very late in his life, when Shoghi Effendi finally asked him to - until then he continued to take services, marry and bury people etc. by the Anglican prayer book. To be fair his bishop must have been VERY liberal in his views.
- While membership of the Baha'i community is now "exclusive" (in the sense you're really not allowed to belong to anything else, including political parties, and things like Freemasonry and Subud) this was something that was actually applied very gradually. --Soundofmusicals (talk) 07:07, 22 May 2011 (UTC)

Link to disambiguation page
Hello Koavf,
I have been helping cleaning up links that direct to disambiguation pages, and I noticed that in the section below, Beacon Theater links to a disambiguation page.
User talk:Koavf/Archive021#Ron_Holloway
Since you do not want anyone to edit this archived talk page, can you please edit it to clear this up. If you replace [[Beacon Theatre]] with [[Beacon Theatre (New York City)|Beacon Theatre]], this will tidy things up nicely. Thank you. Lindblum (talk) 12:36, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
- Hello again,
- The purpose of linking to a disambiguation page is if you are not sure which article you wish the link to point to. In this instance, there is only one article the Beacon Theatre link should point to because it is stated in The Allman Brothers Band article that they played at Beacon Theatre, New York City.
- As for your other question, there is no reason why a link should go to a disambiguation page when there is a more suitable article to point to. Step 4 of this page states that links in articles that point to disambiguation pages via a redirect need to be fixed, even if they are on talk pages. However, it is up to you to decide whether to change it. I can only show you a better alternative link and leave it at that. Lindblum (talk) 08:09, 27 May 2011 (UTC)

Categories
Hi there KOAVF, VASCO from Portugal here,
as you did in several persons (coincidentally all footballers, my field of choice), could you please leave the category PEOPLE FROM MÁLAGA as just that, the (CITY) bit is just irrelevant, the brackets with additional info should be used in case of STATES, PROVINCES or otherwise, the city goes without saying.
Furthermore, the name of the article on Wikipedia is Málaga, not Málaga (city). I am going to start a discussion at WP:FOOTY (i know that this is not exclusive to football, but it's where i am used taking my queries, if i am required to place it elsehwere, i'll gladly do it), to see where it leads us.
Of course, if the discussion says I am wrong, not YOU, rest assured i will not revert you anymore. Attentively, sorry for any incovenience - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 18:47, 31 May 2011 (UTC)
Musical instruments
Please see my talk. Redheylin (talk) 01:08, 3 June 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, thank you, I also like consistency - but consistency in the musical domain, based on a single authoritative source, means that "East Africa" is mainly the Bantu-Swahili belt. "North Africa" is really no better, I admit, and "Horn of Africa" is probably the way to go. I'll get around to it if you like. Redheylin (talk) 01:50, 3 June 2011 (UTC)

Regarding comics where publishing has yet to occure
Was there a discussion re splitting up Category:Unpublished comics or was the creation of Category:Unfinished comics and Category:Upcoming comics just bold?
The reason I asking is that the change to {{Infobox future comics}} created some miscategorizations that we not an issue under "Unpublished".
I'm reverting the split and moves so this can potentially be discussed.
- J Greb (talk) 22:26, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
- Well... a few things actually.
- The Infobox template is being used on articles about comic book series that are either 1) Yet to start but have every indication of going forward as planned, 2) long touted as "coming" with nothing ever seeing print (essentially vaporware), 3) officially or unofficially "cancelled be for the first issue went to press", and 4) one case of something actually being printed and additional material promised but never materializing. When the "Future templates" were depreciated and removed these were moved from "Discussion of future comics" to "Unpublished comics" or, as the category lead implies "Comic books series that exists in full or in part as unpublished works" without making a distinction between haled before publishing began or being canceled with material left to go. Sonic Disruptors was included within that later section.
- As stated in the edit summaries, this is a case of "Hold on.." as in WP:BRD - at the category level. There is also an issue of articles being categorized by information either not in the article or information in the article being miss-read.
- - J Greb (talk) 22:57, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
- No, I understand that you want to improve things. But being bold does run the risk of others disagreeing and that a discussion will be needed. It also assumes that some care will be used in ancillary edits. As pointed out "fixing" the infobox template for the split isn't just "change the category" since a number of the articles are no longer "upcoming".
- The only down side I see is that if you are unwilling, for what ever reason, to discuss the change, it is odd to make the bold change.
- - J Greb (talk) 23:13, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
- And the re-adding the "Upcoming" cat in lieu of discussion is just plain disruptive. - J Greb (talk) 23:18, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
Postmodern writers
Hello. Recently saw that you added Cynthia Ozick and Danilo Kis to this category. Just wondering what your reasoning was. Granted that right now we live in a postmodern era, and Ozick is still writing (Kis is not, unfortunately), I don't know if these two share postmodern aesthetics that define the works of, say, Don DeLillo or Pynchon. Nor do their respective critical discourses, to my knowledge at least, place them in the context of postmodernism. Granted as well that I didn't know this category existed, and would take issue with other writers in it, but this is the first time it came up for my watchlist. Thanks, --Lazer Stein (talk) 02:59, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
- Hi, It does seem as if you have confused post WWII writers with post-modern writers. Roald Dahl, Anthony Burgess and most of the ones you have tagged are not within that genre. Please undo these category adds from the last few days. Span (talk) 19:11, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

Hi Koavf - The image that you were concerned about on the Pixies page has been removed, and so I am hoping that you will return to the FAR (WP:Featured article review/Pixies/archive1) and leave any additional comments, or enter a declaration. As an aside about your comment on the length of the FAR, it is fairly common for article to remain at FAR for a good while if people are interested in improving them - the process is designed to place more focus on improving articles than delisting them, so extra time is given when articles are being improved.
