To add that rememberous figure of number[edit]

Hello bhai, it's Abhishek Bhattacharjee here from Kolkata, we already won 91 medals and assured 9 medals (one men's individual compound final of archery between Ojas and Abhishek, one women's individual compound final of Jyothi and one bronze medal for Aditi; one medal in cricket and hockey each, 2 assured medal in kabaddi in both men's and women's and two bronze medal match of wrestlers and 4 more to come); so shall we change that figure in Wikipedia's page? Abhionline3456 (talk) 10:18, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

No in short as this will create confusion. Even though medals are assured, let us take it one at a step and can be updated when the official medals are announced.Magentic Manifestations (talk) 10:21, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

October 2023[edit]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Priya Devi Elangbam. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 01:33, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Magentic Manifestations,
If you disagree with an article being moved to Draft space, please move it back, do not create a second article in main space. This complicates attribution and Wikipedia should not have more than one article on a subject. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 01:36, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for notifying this. It was my miss that I missed the article with the original title and rather copy pasted once the later one was moved to draft. If there is anything that is to be done for this article now, please suggest.Magentic Manifestations (talk) 03:23, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

List of airports in India[edit]

why did you revert this as vandalism? Please explain me. 103.241.226.129 (talk) 07:34, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I have added all existing Gujarat airports which have their own page in Wikipedia and added Mithapur Airport and Mandvi Airport which don't have wiki page yet but they exist. Why did you remove without checking as vandalism? 103.241.226.129 (talk) 07:41, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Firstly, suggest you create a user account "Mr. IP address" as you are doing the same changes from different IP addresses. Coming to your persistent edit warring on the List of airports in India, the onus of providing proper references along with the edits falls on the editor as per WP:REF and suggest you refer to Help:Referencing for beginners. Magentic Manifestations (talk) 09:32, 22 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm re-adding the airports which have their own pages, and I didn't add references because all the other airports also didn't have references, and adding a reference column would require additional column. 103.251.217.233 (talk) 11:27, 22 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There are multiple issues.
a. You have vandalized the article as well adding some unrelated content. Check the history.
b. You have added already listed airports (Keshod). Also do not add any planned/under construction (Dholera) airports.
c. Have already warned you to not make any changes without due discussion. If there are any more you want to add, quote relevant official sources for the same.
I am adding Rajkot IA alone with the source.Magentic Manifestations (talk) 12:09, 22 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
why is under construction can't be added? In uttar Pradesh, Telangana... and many states have under-construction airports added. Please remove all under-construction from page. 103.251.217.233 (talk) 13:08, 23 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ways to improve Khushbu (Sepak takraw)[edit]

Hello, Magentic Manifestations,

Thank you for creating Khushbu (Sepak takraw).

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

I've placed a tag on this page requesting more references, but the important thing is that it would be beneficial to find better references to prove notability according to Wikipedia's guidelines. This specifically involves finding sources that provide significant coverage for Khushbu, not just mention her among the team members. Because she helped India win bronze at the Asian Games, I believe she is notable, but as I said, it would be beneficial to find sources that talk about her more in-depth.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Significa liberdade}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Confusion between Metropolitan areas and Million plus Urban agglomeration in India[edit]

Greetings Magentic Manifestations !

You listed the cities in article List of metropolitan areas in India, as per single source, which is Index released by Demographia for world's largest Built-Up Urban Areas. It's good to list based on single source, but,

Even in thier report itself they clearly stated that, thier report is based on Built-Up Urban Areas, not the metropolitan areas.

Metropolitan Areas vs Urban Area

Metropolitan areas is the particular region which is notified as metropolitan region by the government. Metropolitan areas comprising both rural and urban areas.

But in the case of Urban area, it's not the same as metropolitan area. It comprises only urbanised area.

Urban area is a continuously builtup urban land mass.

The report, that you cited is best suited for Million plus Urban agglomeration not for metropolitan areas.

So kindly look on it, make a list for List of million-plus urban agglomerations in India, and re list the article List of metropolitan areas in India

Thanks in advance.

Ungal Naan2.0 (talk) 08:15, 2 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Thanks for reaching out. I agree with your observation in this regard. The source is based on the report which explicitly covers only urban areas and does not include rural areas in the same metropolitan area. In the Indian context, Metropolitan areas can comprise municipalities or panchayats in contiguous areas. It might correspond to urban agglomerations globally but in Indian context, UAs are defined specifically for census. Either if other sources can be obtained with the data for metropolitan areas, it can be updated as such or you can propose to merge both the articles List of million-plus urban agglomerations in India and List of metropolitan areas in India in the appropriate forum.
Also, meanwhile, if you intend to add more cities as per the given source, add the intermediate cities as well. Do not add cities in the bottom skipping the others in between.
Magentic Manifestations (talk) 12:02, 2 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, in the view of searching for sources for data of metropolitan areas, we cannot obtain collective single source. We should use a multiple sources. If you agree to list with multiple sources, I will make it.
And I will update the article List of million-plus urban agglomerations with the single source that you provide.
Thanks in advance ! Ungal Naan2.0 (talk) 12:21, 2 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If you can find multiple sources, you can go ahead and compile them updating the article. For the List of million-plus urban agglomerations in India, I think we can have a single table retaining the 2011 census pop. and the 2023 area and estimated pop. from demographia as separate columns with notes where city expansions have taken place.Magentic Manifestations (talk) 12:27, 2 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Changes for Coimbatore Bangalore Vande Bharat train[edit]

@Magentic Manifestations,

I request you to stop changing the image which I had physically taken. I agree some extra information was present and I have removed those and kept only the relevant ones. Kindly leave that page as it is. Thank you. Sameer2905 (talk) 12:55, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, You have made whole-sale reverts my friend and not relevant information. Also, Wiki is a neutral forum and please do not claim that your images should be uploaded. A single image which is clearer and relevant has been put in the infobox. Also, if indeeed, all images are uploaded by you, what is your issue here?

I have also left a detailed summary on your talk page on the issue. So please read through it and request you to act accordingly. Thanks!Magentic Manifestations (talk) 13:40, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Some of the paragraphs you have repeated the same sentence exactly. Sending me that detailed summary is useless. What information you have edited is incorrect. I've tried to give relevant information by describing each category and you, on the other hand, are complicating the information. Main paragraph has "inauguration" and you have added the same sentence in the "Overall" section. Seems like you are making the mistake and finding the fault in me. And FYI, whatever information I had added was completely relevant. Kindly get that in your mind and revert back to the previous value which was present. Also, since I'm working under the officials, I'm explaining in simple terms. So pls stop making the changes and kindly revert back. Also I've noticed that you have completely changed the Amrit Bharat Express by doing this so-called "clean up". That was not at all needed. Pls refrain from doing that as it was meant to give a clear difference between this and Vande Bharat trains as what the officials were mentioning to the public. Sameer2905 (talk) 14:10, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
For one, I have clearly explained you the relevant policies point-by-point on your talk page. If you have any relevant points to that, you can give me clarity and will be happy to discuss. If you have any issues with any specific points in my edits, I would be happy to address.
Regarding your mentioned concern on repetitions, you are free to go ahead and improve the article. I do not claim myself to be 100% correct and implore you as well not to do whole-sale reverts and asking you to make constructive edits within the policies and guidelines.
Also, please stick to the article in question. If you have an issue with a different article and specific points, please take it up separately with relevant information. To shortly explain, comparison with Vande Bharat is nothing but trivia based on personal POV and Wikipedia is not a text book, directory or a brochure. Request you to familiarize more with the guidelines.
Please do not simply write long English paragraphs here without any valid instances or points and please refrain from making veiled threats. I find no point in addressing this without reason any further and let us take it to the administrator boards for dispute resolution if required.
Magentic Manifestations (talk) 14:51, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
For Amrit Bharat Express discussion I'll close that. But coming back to the Coimbatore-Bangalore article, whatever information was added was completely relevant. And each section had distinct information. Kindly see that and make the changes. Sameer2905 (talk) 14:59, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sub-sectioning of Indian Railways - History section[edit]

Hey Magentic Manifestations,

I came across your recent improvements on articles related to railways in India. Those improvements are really great. Specially the bold redirection of individual electric and diesel loco articles to their parent loco article. Your improvements to Indian Railways and attempt to nominate it for good article are really really welcomed.

I though don't completely agree with your sub-sectioning of History section in Indian Railways. I prefer sectioning as in Rail_transport_in_India#History. Here the section boundaries are defined by major events such as start of railways, start of passenger railways, zonal re-organisation and start of rapid transit. In your sectioning, there is no major boundary other than a personal selection of a year. If we go by independence then there are only 2 sections possible — pre and post. Also independence is a change of government at the end, post independence many govts have changed and so multiple respective sections will be needed. The events don't conform to date range, for eg, this statement "In 1879, the Nizam's Guaranteed State Railway was established which built railway lines across the then Hyderabad State from Kachiguda" comes in 1832-75 section and not in the next section.

Still, gave it more thought and reached on conclusion that sectioning as per century will be best here. I agree that here also, apart from change in century year, nothing else defines the boundary. Also arranging by century leaves no room for any text insertion in sub-section headers. Also this shouldn't impact current good article nomination in anyway. As of now, updated as per above. Please feel free to provide agreement or counter-suggest or start a wider discussion with more editors for same.

Thanks. Vatsmaxed (talk) 08:54, 10 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I had sub-sectioned the same as the section was too long making it difficult to follow. I had made sub-sectioning based on time-intervals and assigned heads to it. Your reasoning of it sounds good and we can stick to the yearly sub-sectioning as the heading do not have much of a meaning. Thanks! Hi there, I didn't mean to come off as an "aggressive reverter", its just that there wasn't a source provided to verify the status. Good day!Bingobro (Chat) 13:19, 13 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Though the airport does not have any international connections, it is still classified so by the Govt of India. Was just pointing out that the reference was there, might have come off aggressive. No worries. Cheers! Magentic Manifestations (talk) 14:48, 13 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Article assessments[edit]

Hi. Thanks for your effort into improving a ton of articles related to India and nominating them to GA. I observed that you also changed the assessments of the articles to B or A. Since you redeveloped the article yourself, I'd expect fellow editors to chime in and assess the article rather than yourself. There's nothing wrong in assessing yourself, just a recommendation. Indian rail freight[edit]

Hallo. Do you seriously mean there ran no freight trains on Indian railways until 1966? Because that is what the statement I questioned says, as it stands and as far as I can see (and as I mentioned, I can't check the source to see if it's misunderstood, so perhaps another source is needed). In case 1966 seems realistic to you, you can read in the section "Freight trains > Rolling stock" that "The earliest goods trains in the 1800s were hauled by imported steam locomotives", with reference to the same source, and the first section of the chapter "History" is titled "1832–1852: Industrial railways" (i.e. for freight).

As for "vandal", my contribution history is there for all to see. You can look it through too and see if it looks like that of a vandal. /90.142.52.139 (talk) 13:43, 27 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

First, suggest you create an account, if you are serious enough in contributing. Second, what you did is vandalism to the article with some non-sense and junk added. You should have raised it in the appropriate forum which is the talk page in the appropriate language. I have checked the source and accordingly I have made changes. Magentic Manifestations (talk)
Mind your tone please. Your insults are not constructive. The kind of template I used is there for a reason. Creating an account is voluntary and is no prerequisite for having your edits judged for what they are. 90.142.52.139 (talk) 14:23, 27 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I am well aware that creating an account is voluntary and if you can read it carefully, hope you can understand the meaning of "Suggest". No one is disputing the template construct. It was what was written in the template that was the issue. You literally wrote "non-sense" in the template and wrote rantings about your internet connection in an article page and preaching others on the tone. Please follow it before you preach others on tone Mr.IP address. Anyways, thanks for pointing out the issue.
Magentic Manifestations (talk) 16:00, 27 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I could have used a more diplomatic word, but apart from that, what would you call a statement that a railway system like the Indian began its freight business in 1966? You could have responded with something like "oops, of course it's nonsense as it stands". As for my "rantings", if you read it carefully, you should be able to see what it has to do with the article. (A source that's not available needs to be replaced). 90.142.52.139 (talk) 17:14, 27 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The problem is that the source is well available and is accessible. So do not rant here because your internet connection has a problem or is not working. Anyways, no use in continuing this discussion further. Ciao! Magentic Manifestations (talk) 18:10, 27 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Good faith is recommended here, not bad. So just stop insulting people who are pointing out possible corruptions of sources. 90.142.52.139 (talk) 19:45, 27 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If you could shed more light on what the error is, probably it can be worked out to see as it might be a country specific access issue. Again if that was the intention, you could have pointed it out in a manner, initiating a discussion which would help explore the issue. As the source is accessible and working fine here, if you are still facing issue with the same, you could initiate a separate discussion on the relevant talk page, so that others can probably assist or pitch in. Thanks! Magentic Manifestations (talk) 09:19, 28 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Pharaoh496 Pal! The comment is unwarranted. This is definitely not a place where you add/remove something as per your personal opinions and you are only trying to express your POV on my edits. If you have something specific and valid, please feel free to discuss. Magentic Manifestations (talk) 13:56, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Pal!! I am not adding or removing anything. Lets discuss this on the talk page! Pharaoh496 (talk) 14:08, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Let me know your points. I am awaiting your comments as you had initiated the GA review. As I had stated, you have to review against the GA criteria. Hope you are aware that the lead summarizes the article. While it is being reviewed for GA, it is a norm not to add/delete content. As a reviewer, unless you have technical changes to make, I am not sure why you are hell-bent on adding something that is not sourced in the article, technically incorrect and an unnecessary comparisons in the lead. I am reverting back to status quo till this is resolved. As you should be well aware, this has already reached WP:3RR, so let us discuss and get ahead with the actual review, if you are inclined towards taking this to a good article status. If we cannot reach a consensus, then it definitely warrants an intervention. Thanks! Magentic Manifestations (talk) 14:40, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Check this article[edit]

India at the Cricket World Cup What can be done about this? (See the problems on top) What if it is split edition-wise, for eg. India at the Olympics It has India at the 2024 Summer Olympics, India at the 2020 Summer Olympics, India at the 2016 Summer Olympics etc. Pharaoh496 (talk) 18:20, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The article requires a lot of work indeed as there is very less actual information which is interspersed with what is like a fan commentary and poorly sourced. The article is indeed very long as well given that there have been 10+ WCs so far. There can be a single summary article and standalone articles for individual world cups which might help reduce the length. You can proposed this in the talk page or WP:IND for inputs from others, based on which they can be worked upon. Magentic Manifestations (talk) 05:52, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have tried in the past but the thing is that not many people seem to care, I have worked on this article for around six months and during the campaign. You can imagine how it was before.

@Magentic Manifestations
I appreciate your hard work on the page, but you have seemed to taken out a lot of heart from it. Stuff like captains of teams, coaches and and descriptions have been a collossal misremove.
67k bytes of removal surely needs to be discussed first, as this page is frequently edited by thousands of editors. For now I have reverted the changes, but have personally saved a copy of your revision. We should discuss the changes beforehand on the talk page. Pharaoh496 (talk) 16:19, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Just the way ipl teams like Super Kings have pages for each edition, I strongly believe that each edition of the cwc should have its own page per country. Cricket is more vast than football and should not be fit into a solitary 3 paragraph subsection Pharaoh496 (talk) 16:20, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have taken the discussion to the talk page of the article. Magentic Manifestations (talk) 04:40, 5 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Magentic Manifestations Hey. I wanted to check something rq with you.
I have been going over your edits from the last couple of months on the MS Dhoni and have seen that you have removed a lot of content from the page.
You might have your reasons to remove it; but now when you read the page a lot of it seems missing - 15 years of international career and domestic and ipl so compressed.
Id like to propose something, recently a new precedent was taken in football articles when someone removed the career from Lionel Messi's page and put it into Career of Lionel Messi. As far as I think, the same will happen to other pages like Virat Kohli as they are too long. Something we can consider for this page as well? Remove international along with domestic or ipl and place it in a new page, expand it with good writing? Pharaoh496 (talk) 16:18, 29 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Pharaoh496 I will address both your queries separately:
  1. Regarding your observations on the given article MS Dhoni, do not go by the byte size of the article. It is not an indicator of addition/removal of content. The article had to be trimmed as it was flagged for multiple issues including a large lead section with over citation and many duplicate sources.
  2. There was a discussion on splitting larger articles such as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as the articles were too long for comfortable reading. If there is sufficient content with proper sources to expand into such articles, it can be done as a separate proposal on the talk page and taken forward. Magentic Manifestations (talk) 06:47, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Good point Pharaoh496 (talk) 08:08, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

"Yoga guru"[edit]

Hi, I'm sorry to have to revert you again, but not so fast. The template is populated ONLY by people reliably described as "yoga guru", that exact phrase, in multiple reliable sources known to be independent of the guru, and entered into the list of Modern yoga gurus, supported by those citations. This is because there are powerful religious and commercial interests to get Wikipedia to advertise new "gurus", something we obviously cannot permit. I strongly suggest you do not attempt to put anyone into the list (and template) unless you can easily find at least THREE such reliable independent sources - we can't rely on just one as journalists can easily just slip into a careless phrase when in a hurry, so we need several as reasonable reassurance that the person really is widely seen as being in that category. Hope this is all clear, it's rather important given the slippery nature of the subject.

There is, by the way, some reason to be a bit cautious about Vethathiri Maharishi's status. Your principal source (it was [1] in the article) was to a predatory journal. Such journals take an author's money and publish the resulting paper for profit, often with little or no checking, i.e. the paper might have been all right or it might not, but the journal's editor neither knows nor cares, hardly very reassuring; Wikipedia has taken the firm line that all such papers are unusable as sources. If Vethathiri is indeed notable as a guru, it should be straightforward to find better sources. All the best, Chiswick Chap (talk) 16:53, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Chiswick Chap Thanks for your message. I have added independent citations from news articles and book references to the article. Magentic Manifestations (talk) 18:01, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, but unfortunately they aren't very good. The Tamil Hindustan Times does not appear to use the exact phrase "yoga guru". Aiyasamy's "Science of Yoga" has no page number; I don't have the book so it'd help if you could quote the sentence in the book which includes the phrase "yoga guru" alongside "Vethathiri Maharishi". The other book, "The Malaysian Indian Journey" has neither author nor editor; the title is curious, is it a reliable source and why would you choose such a book for this purpose? Again, it would help if you would quote the sentence in the book which includes the phrase "yoga guru" alongside "Vethathiri Maharishi". At the moment I'm leaning to deleting the entry as not verified. Chiswick Chap (talk) 09:33, 31 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Chiswick Chap I have given sources that are verifiable. Magentic Manifestations (talk) 09:53, 31 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have not said the sources aren't verifiable, but I've asked you to assist with making them so in practice. In particular, two things are requested: 1) please provide the missing page number; 2) please provide the sentences that contain the phrase "yoga guru". Chiswick Chap (talk) 10:03, 31 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I see you have added quotations over at Modern yoga gurus, many thanks for that. However, none of these contain the actual phrase "yoga guru", so to date the claim that VM is a "yoga guru" remains unverified. Chiswick Chap (talk) 10:05, 31 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Chiswick Chap,
a. Looking for the exact phrase should not be the yardstick. "Guru" is someone who is a teacher, mentor, expert or a master of something and if a source clearly mentions the same, I do not see any issues with that. Being a far more experienced Wikipedian, you are well aware of this.
b. Many of the sources in the page belong to any of these categories.
  1. No mention of being a Guru or anything related to that.
E.g. "Anandamayi Ma". Om-Guru. Retrieved 16 August 2021. "Though she was never formally initiated by a guru, one evening she spontaneously performed her own initiation, visualizing both the ritual scene and movements. Simultaneously, she heard the chanting of initiatory sacred words (mantras) inwardly."
Even in the book sources, say for E.g. Shearer, Alistair (2020). The Story of Yoga: From Ancient India to the Modern West. London: Hurst Publishers. ISBN 978-1-78738-192-6. Yogi Bhajan is quoted as a "Sikh guru who is a star athlete" and not a Yoga guru.
  2. Uses other words such as master but not Guru.
E.g. Park, Tosca (11 February 2015). "Modern Yoga: Turning a Blind Eye on Sexual Abuse Allegations?". Yoga Basics. "Other yoga masters have also been involved in...."
  3. Random websites or news listing articles which are not credible sources of information.
    E.g. "Anandamayi Ma". Om-Guru. Retrieved 16 August 2021.
"15 Yoga Gurus That Are Empowering The World Through Social Media". Influence Digest +. 5 June 2017. Retrieved 16 August 2021.
Suar, Swati Snigdha (18 June 2015). "Meet India's 10 most renowned yoga gurus". Rediff.com.
"Yoga Day Special: India's 7 most renowned Yoga Gurus who redefined Yoga internationally". India TV News. 21 June 2017. Retrieved 16 August 2021.
If you are so particular, why isn't the same yardstick being applied to other references in the page?
Also, explaining the sources related to Vethathiri,
  1. Source 1: Historical Dictionary of New Religious Movements. The page number is given and the book clearly explains the establishment of the organization concerned and the various forms of yoga in the background. Being the founder of the organization, it clearly establishes him as a mentor, expert and teacher.
  2. Source 2: Religious Bodies in the U.S.:A Dictionary. It quotes that Yogiraj Vethathiri Maharaj, a teacher of kundalini yoga. He brought his movement to America in 1972. It clearly mentions him as a teacher of yoga.
  3. Source 3, 4, 5: These mention him by the name Yogiraj and some them go on to mention other details. This signifies that he is an expert in the same.
I guess spending much time on this further seems to be a fruitless exercise. Thanks for engaging in the conversation though. Magentic Manifestations (talk) 11:14, 31 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
