Questionable Content

I noticed you added the "fansite" template to Questionable Content. I was wondering if you could share what specific concerns you had with the page, appreciate it thanks --TorriTorri(Talk to me!) 07:01, 20 February 2010 (UTC)

Most of the material is only sourced to the website itself and mostly written from an in-universe perspective. I suppose the fansite tag isn't the most accurate one I could have added (and I'll remove it shortly), but I feel the Synopsis section and character descriptions need to be massively trimmed (or removed altogether), if they can't be sourced to a non-primary source. Accused of being a sock-puppet

I noticed that you were defending me from the sock-puppet accusations. I'm not 100% sure what this means and what it could do to my account and the page that I manage. I'm not understanding why I was accused of being a sock puppet... any idea? JoshinWinnipeg (talk) 00:50, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

I'm not sure either, but it's probably related to the similarity in usernames and the concurrent edits to the article (for why sockpuppetry isn't usually a good thing, check out this page). However, as I explained on the investigation page, I don't think you've done anything wrong. TNXMan 01:34, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

Energy For Opportunity (EFO)

Hi Tnxman307,

I have found a few other reliable sources for the Energy For Opportunity (EFO) entry (since we last batted it around), and would like to move it to mainpage. The latest sources are regarding the situation in Haiti.

Before moving it to mainpage however, I'd appreciate your thoughts. Here is the link: Special:MyPage/Energy For Opportunity (EFO)

Hope you enjoyed your weekend,

Coldwater Jane

Just letting you know that I created a new article at Coldwater Jane with sources asserting notability. Just out of curiosity, what did the old version look like? Ten Pound Hammer, his otters and a clue-bat • (Many ottersOne batOne hammer) 03:49, 23 February 2010 (UTC)

"Coldwater Jane is a Country Music duo based out of Nashville,TN. Their first single "Bring on the love" was released in January of 10'.". The new one looks a lot better, though. Cheers! TNXMan 13:01, 23 February 2010 (UTC)

Just letting you know that this matter has come up at OTRS under OTRS:4480977, due to the reverts. I've been explaining to them that they need to be more neutral, and I think the recent edits are an improvement. May I ask that you work with them rather than reverting again if you are dealing with the article? Stifle (talk) 12:01, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

I've started a discussion on the talk page, but the material that is being re-inserted is almost unsalvagable. It reads like a press release/advertisement. TNXMan 12:59, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

Totally agree with Tnxman307. The page is being edited like an advert. Reverting is mandatory. The magazine publisher/editor has edited under their own name and not responded to any comments on their talk page: User talk:Cherie Federico. They now seem to be editing as an IP with again no dialogue whatsoever: User talk:87.127.0.106. It's impossible to work with people unless they work with us. Material is being used inaccurately.[1] Ty 14:00, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

I've emailed you some articles about Aesthetica. I can't find them online. They are available on Newsuk, accessible free with the barcode of some UK library cards. If you want the text on a word doc, let me know your direct email. Ty 14:03, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
Thank you. I will check them out later this evening, as I cannot readily access my email from where I am now. Cheers! TNXMan 14:36, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
Did you get the articles OK? Ty 23:46, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
Yes I did. I apologize for being tardy with my response, I replied to your earlier post, got pulled away by different RL things, and haven't had a chance to look at the things you sent me. I have read them now and they all look like excellent sources. They can be added to the article (probably using {{cite news}}). The only hangup I see is that the sources tend to drift from the magazine to the founder (Federico). Any included material should focus solely on the magazine. Thank you again for researching the material and if I can help in any way, please let me know. TNXMan 03:42, 26 February 2010 (UTC)

Emerald Data Solutions

Hi, I created the Emerald Data Solutions page. It was deleted on Feb. 20.

I still don't understand why. The sources were notable - third party online news sources. Also, another editor wrote a comments about the following sentence - "Emerald Data Solutions develops and markets BoardDocs Paperless Governance Solutions." This editor said it was not written in adequate English. Does this person not understand the term "governance" - and if he does, what in the world in this sentence does he consider inadequate? BoardDocs is a service - there is no mis-representation here.

Also, I compared my article to the following 'Schoolwires'. They were created identically. Why was mine deleted, yet there's remains? All feedback is appreciated! ChristenClegg (talk) 20:33, 24 February 2010 (UTC)

(edit conflict) The page was deleted because the community discussion at WP:Articles for deletion/Emerald Data Solutions found there was not enough significant coverage in independent reliable sources to warrant inclusion of the article. As was mentioned to you on your talk page, press releases are not considered reliable sources. Please note that simply because a company exists, that does not mean they are notable enough to be on Wikipedia. As for the "adequate English", you would need to ask the person who posted that note. TNXMan 21:18, 24 February 2010 (UTC)

Rationale for deletion of Emerald Data Solutions

The article's only external references were press releases, which cannot be considered as verifiable and reliable sources because press releases are almost always authored and paid for by the subject of the articles or by their agents. No other reliable sources could be obtained to support the notability of the corporation. CobaltBlueTony™ talk 21:11, 24 February 2010 (UTC)

This is not the case. There are literally hundreds of governing bodies who have talked about paperless governance solutions in the press and are using such solutions to open governance. This is a huge issue right now. People nationwide are complaining about how the government won't provide access to information that affects its citizens/the public. This is exactly what eGovernance is all about - increasing transparency. I could provide more resources about eGovernance easily - if you looked for notable resources about the topic, you would have found hundreds and hundreds of discussions about it. ChristenClegg (talk) 13:54, 25 February 2010 (UTC)

All well and good, and the info can probably added to e-Government. However, it has nothing specifically to do with Emerald Data Solutions. TNXMan 14:17, 25 February 2010 (UTC)

Hello.

Hello, I was wondering if I would be able to get your help? I noticed that before, you have blocked this IP. It seems that the IP has returned and is seemingly vandalizing without comprehension of some of our rules here at Wikipedia. I was wondering, if it wouldn't be too much trouble, if you could possibly send this user a message as, I feel if I do it, it may come off as obnoxious. If you're able to help, thank you and you're not able to help, that's okay and I thank you anyway. Happy editing. --HELLØ ŦHERE 03:51, 27 February 2010 (UTC)

I'm sorry I've just got to your message, as the IP seems to have stopped. However, if they do resume vandalizing, please feel free to let me know or report them to WP:AIV. Thanks! TNXMan 22:29, 27 February 2010 (UTC)

Hey,

I'm sorry if you thought my article was garbage. I was trying to add some details about it.

I was linking to a site with more information. I did not know that was not OK?

Am I allowed to make the article if I provide more information?

Bozonessinc (talk) 20:23, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

I've never said (and do not think) that your article was garbage. It just wasn't ready to be listed on Wikipedia. There is a guide to writing your first article here (on this page). I would encourage you to read it and work on a draft in your userspace (something like User:Bozonessinc) to improve it. If you have questions as you go, let me know. TNXMan 20:30, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

RIP/TORN

I recently created a Wikipedia page for a musical group (RIP\TORN), only to find moments later that it had been deleted by you. I was hoping I could attain some sort of explanation for this. Justin.ferrell.92 (talk) 20:54, 1 March 2010 (UTC)Justin Ferrell

The article was deleted because it did not indicate why the group was notable enough to warrant an article. I would suggest reading our info on writing your first article and then continuing to work on the draft you have in your userspace. When you feel you have addressed the issues, you can ask another editor to review it for you to see if it's ready for the mainspace. TNXMan 21:09, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

Hello...Applied Research/ColorLines Magazine Wikipedia pages

Hi,

My name is Jessica, I am an intern for the Applied Research Center/ColorLines. One of my tasks this semester is creating wiki pages for the aforementioned organizations. I have been unsuccessful with this because the pages keep getting deleted. For the ColorLines page, the "concern" is that it is an advertisement for a non-notable magazine." What does this mean? What do I need to do to edit this page so that ColorLines/ARC are allowed on Wikipedia? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Strongj (talkcontribs) 21:02, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

First of all, you should note that, because you have a conflict of interest, you are highly discouraged from editing/creating the article. Secondly, I would encourage you read our info how to edit when you have a conflict of interest. Finally, read our info on writing your first article. If you have other subjects about which you would like to contribute, this guide is a good starting point. TNXMan 21:07, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

I'm not sure how there is a conflict of interest when I am simply posting content straight from ARC's and ColorLines' web site? Doesn't make sense. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Strongj (talkcontribs) 22:03, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

Also, you never addressed the original issue with the ARC wiki page, that it is an "advertisement for a non-notable magazine." —Preceding unsigned comment added by Strongj (talkcontribs) 22:05, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

Well, posting straight from their website is copyright violation and is not allowed. You have a conflict of interest because you are an intern for the magazine and that makes it very difficult for you to address the subject in a neutral manner.
The ColorLines magazine article has been cleaned up and is no longer proposed for deletion. TNXMan 14:48, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

Deletion of Carach Angren's page

Hey, I'm a bit of a newbie at all this, so I was wondering if you could help me out.

You just deleted the page I wrote about the band Carach Angren, because it "was an article about a band, singer, musician, or musical ensemble that didn't assert the importance or significance of the subject".

What would I need to do to assert the importance/significance of the subject? Short of writing "This band is significant as they have a number of albums out and are becoming well known to metal fans", or even "This band is important because they're just pretty damn epic [citation needed]", I can't see what I'm meant to write.

Even if you could just link me to a good example on another page, that'd be great.

Also, can I commend you on your speediness - less than a minute and you had reviewed it, and decided that it needed more work.

Thanks Echoes Wolf —Preceding unsigned comment added by Echoswolf (talkcontribs) 20:48, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

The article was deleted because it did not indicate why the group was notable enough to warrant an article. It was also a borderline advertisement. I would suggest reading our info on writing your first article, as that may assist you. TNXMan 21:02, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

Hey, Thanks, will do. When I put it up again, can you please check that it's okay? Thanks Echoswolf (talk) 21:15, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

I can, but I would definitely suggest posting a draft first (you can use something like User:Echoswolf/Sandbox) so that you can work on it without worrying about deletion. I can post the deleted material to a sandbox for you if you'd like. TNXMan 21:21, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

Yes, please! It took me so long... Thanks! Also, while I'm here, the notability section says if they're on a record label "with a history of more than a few years", they are noteworthy. Would four years just scrape in on this, or is that too short? Echoswolf (talk) 22:31, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

Generally, the record label must be notable as well (i.e. received significant coverage in independent sources). The content has been restored to User:Echoswolf/Sandbox, so feel free to work on it. TNXMan 14:42, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

Thanks! I'll get to work on it now. Echoswolf (talk) 21:52, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

Parnassus Investments Deletion

Hello -

My posting was deleted due to (G11: Unambiguous advertising or promotion. Could you please be more specific? The text was meant to describe the company. This is a similar posting: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pax_World_Funds If specific changes need to be made, can you let me know where? Thank you. Parnassus1 (talk) 21:20, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

The page was deleted because it was blatant advertising. I've left you a message on your talk page with information that should help you. You should also note that if you have a conflict of interest with the subject, you are highly discouraged from editing/creating the article. Finally, the inclusion/state/wording of one article has no effect on another, as articles are viewed on a case-by-case basis. TNXMan 21:48, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

re:group article

I need to know how to edit the information in this article about a company posted. I made sure there was nothing but factual content, used no hyperbole, made sure there were links to reliable sources (encyclopedia.com and several trade pubs) and modeled it on wikipedia pages about other companies of the same ilk: ie: Campbell-Ewald, Mccann Erickson, Leo Burnett. What, specifically, are you calling promotion? I'm doing my best to conform. Thanks. Rhonda.gayle.huie (talk) 15:29, 3 March 2010 (UTC)

The article was deleted because it was advertising and furthermore, did not indicate why the group was notable enough to warrant an article. Please note that notability is not inherited from notable clients, it stems from significant coverage in independent reliable sources. I would suggest reading our info on writing your first article and working on the article in a sandbox before moving it to the mainspace. TNXMan 15:34, 3 March 2010 (UTC)

Drastic edits to the James "Hutch" Hutchinson (Musician) article.

Curious as to why you took the time to so drastically edit the verifiable factual and other grammatical corrections to the James Hutchinson (Musician) article? 4mulligan (talk) 19:29, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

None of the material was cited to an independent reliable source. If you can provide reliable independent (i.e. not a personal website, blog, etc.) source, the material can be re-added. TNXMan 19:46, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

All of the CD/recording credits can be easily verified through the James "Hutch" Hutchinson page at Allmusic.com. or NARAS. Other info is from from various articles in Bass Player Magazine, Ian McLagan's autobiography "All The Rage", and Al Kooper's autobiograprhy "Backstage Passes". The grammatical corrections were pretty evident and were done without compromising the information. As far as recent work there are articles in The Maui News and the Bay Area Guardian. We are curious as to why certain segments such as the reference to the subject's work with John Lefebvre and Bill Kreutzmann were left in tact and other references that are just as verifiable (or not) were deleted by you? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 4mulligan (talkcontribs) 20:07, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

There is also biographical info on the Bonnie Raitt website. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 4mulligan (talkcontribs) 20:11, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

That's all well and good, but none of those sources were mentioned/used in the article. The material must be cited before it can be included. Wikipedia is tertiary source (uses material that has already been cited in secondary sources).
You mention in your post that "We are curious...". I should advise that Wikipedia has a policy against shared accounts, as each account must be used by one person only. TNXMan 20:13, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

The term"We" is being used figuratively. This is not a shared account. So can the material be reinstated? Do CD credits and does incidental and anecdotal info relating to the subject need to be individually documented as in a bibliography or list of references? I don't see that in many other articles. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 4mulligan (talkcontribs) 20:25, 4 March 2010 (UTC) Was also curious as to why the use of the nickname/AKA "Hutch" was deleted when the subject is credited with said name on numerous CDs. From Ziggy Marley to Bonnie Raitt. Verifiably so. I know that these are specifics but I believe that these are things that need to be clarified before more info is submitted for your approval. 4mulligan (talk) 20:41, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

After some digging realized the recording credits that were listed and deleted for said subject all appear on Wikipedia itself. Does this count as a verifiable source??? 4mulligan (talk) 21:13, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

Unfortunately, Wikipedia cannot cited as a source. However, the sources used in other articles can be cited.
The material should not be reinstated unless it is supported with a reliable source. Album reviews, newspaper/magazine articles, and books are great sources to use. Check out the Johnny Cash article for a good example of an article that is well-cited. TNXMan 21:50, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the reference to the Johnny Cash article. Can allmusic.com be cited as a reliable source? Do I need to supply ISBN info on the books? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 4mulligan (talkcontribs) 23:40, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

Yes and yes. Be careful not rely heavily on a single source though, as multiple independent sources are preferred. TNXMan 14:19, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

Thanks so much for all of your advice. There are a couple of other musical and historical articles that I want to attempt to write and/or edit and this will make things so much easier. 4mulligan (talk) 18:17, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

Discuss Large Edits/Deletions in Getting Things Done Article

Tnxman, can we discuss the Getting Things Done article? You made big cuts there a few days ago.

Good catch on inconsistencies and the GTD overview not being cited enough. I agree. But I don't believe removing it is the right approach. Here's why:

  • The disambiguation was wrong, not the article.
    • The disambiguation said the article was about the book. It wasn't. The article was primarily about the system itself, which is described in the book.
    • That error probably made the article look like a book summary, which it was not.
    • I propose fixing the disambiguation (small edit) instead of excising the meat of the article.
  • The GTD acronym was deleted at the top of the article. Problems with that:
    • The GTD book AND system are both highly notable (WP:NOTE).
    • Many users reach the article via a redirect from GTD. Per WP:ASTONISH, 2nd paragraph, the GTD term should probably be mentioned at the top.
  • More citations needed in that system summary section (WP:NOR, WP:CITE).
    • However, there were some citations, so it wasn't completely unsourced.
    • Deletion isn't the best approach for inadequately-sourced content. It should only be deleted if unsourced and harmful per WP:NOCITE, or promotional content per WP:SPAM, which this is not, etc.
    • An {{Unreferenced}} tag seems much more appropriate here.
  • More than the summary was deleted.
    • Additional supporting information about the notability and impact of the GTD system, variations in implementation, etc. was also deleted. This was cited and added value to the core article in areas of key concern about GTD.

The net result: widely-referenced encyclopedic content on a highly-notable subject ain't there any more.

Rather than just revert (looks like at least one other agreed so far), I wanted to see how you felt in light of this additional information.

Besides, other edits since yours (to try to restore missing parts of the article) are now complicating the revert just a bit, and looks like you've got Twinkle on it, so you might be the best one to restore it.

What do you think? Kcren (talk) 00:06, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

I removed a lot of material that was a borderline brochure for the book/system. Look at this diff. None of the material is cited to independent reliable sources, relying instead on primary sources (the book itself or other material published by Allen). In fact, looking at the page, it almost looks copy/pasted from an external source. Please take a hard look at the material removed before restoring any of it, as I think it is advertising. TNXMan 14:18, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
Yes, I saw that diff. OK, you deleted because it looked like borderline brochure/advert. True, lack of secondary sources might be a flag for advert/copy/paste. However:
  • Page history shows this was created by hundreds of editors over many years.
  • Google searching of phrases from that diff fail to turn up matches. This discounts the copy/paste theory.
  • On the GTD talk pages (now archived, did you check there first?) they already discussed advert/brochure/NPOV/loss via deletion questions more than once. Surprising group consensus: there wasn't much substantive, published, dissenting opinion even though GTD has been notable for a decade; the article's tone accurately reflected available sources; the content was WP-appropriate for the topic.
  • GTD process was defined by Allen, so his writings are most authoritative. Google shows big grassroots GTD support but mostly via blogs (rarely appropriate sources).
  • A few appropriate secondary sources were cited in the now-deleted material.
  • WP:IRS or WP:CITE don't require non-primary sources anyway.
Mass deletion discourages contributions of hundreds without really re-educating them, and it leaves a vacuum. Isn't it better per WP:NOCITE to restore, tag, and request that people scrutinize/edit/discuss/verify NPOV/beef up sourcing? That trains best practices while improving content. Speedy deletion just invites them to (eventually) fill the ugly void with similar mistakes later (if they are mistakes) and the cycle repeats.
I like the old WP guideline (not sure if/where now) that it's best for the person who deleted something to restore it. It's respectful, and besides, you outrank me . In light of everything above, would you be willing to restore/tag it and start a discussion on the talk page instead? I'll fix the disambiguation and try to trim out some fat. What do you say? Kcren (talk) 21:51, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
Again, the sources cited in the removed section were not for Getting Things Done, but rather, other topics. I think the best idea is to post the deleted section to a subpage of the article so it can be improved without actually being posted to the article. TNXMan 16:58, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

Record Labels

Tnxman307,

I was hoping to improve the quality of some record label pages (20th Century, Downtown, GOOD Music, and Decon all have flags at the top). How should I go about doing this, specifically getting rid of the "needs improvement"? Decon even has a notability problem, but I saw one of their artists on Letterman recently. How do I fix/expand these pages? Jpr2127 (talk) 23:12, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

The best way to improve them is expand them. Really, the goal is have every page at featured status. This means have well-cited information, a neutral point of view, and strong evidence of notability. If you have questions as you, let me know. TNXMan 21:40, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the quick response. I'm gathering unbiased, third-party sources to clean up the sites a bit; I know there's not a fixed number of sources, but two of these three sites are on about the same level as Sony Music Entertainment in terms of citations (not just quantity, but also quality). I'm a bit confused about how this works in terms of gauging notability or having enough sources. I was also hoping to move "Decon Media, Inc." over to just "Decon" (there's no indication on their website or elsewhere that they are called "Decon Media, Inc."). Should I be worried about it qualifying for speedy deletion if I did that?

Thanks again, Jpr2127 (talk) 23:12, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

Deleted Page: Wizdom

I saw that the Wizdom page created was deleted. My question is what kind of links do I need? The music for this artist is on amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com/The-Book-of-Wizdom-Explicit/dp/B001AKFBK8/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=dmusic&qid=1268151137&sr=8-4), iTunes (search Wizdom), napster, etc. They have a legit and official website (www.wizdomsound.com). They have articles in reputable newspapers and magazines such as Sound Magazine (http://www.seattlesoundmag.com/ - August 2009 edition, "The O'Dea Factor"), The Seattle Times (http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/sports/2003629868_hawk22.html), The Seattle Weekly (http://www.seattleweekly.com/2008-03-26/music/mc-wizdom-knows-you-can-t-win.php) and The Stranger (http://www.thestranger.com/seattle/my-philosophy/Content?oid=187216). The artist has recorded music with professional football player, Nate Burleson (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nate_Burleson) and a member of the group Dyme Def (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dyme_Def), both of whom have pages on Wikipedia. The artist was named a "Standout Act of 2008" and performed at the Seattle Weekly Reverbfest (http://www.seattleweekly.com/2008-10-01/music/market-street-athlete/). He also appeared in the movie, Sonicsgate, where his music was also featured (www.sonicsgate.org). Is this still not enough to make this page stick? BTW, if it was the posting of the myspace and twitter links I have no issues deleting those what so ever.

Wizdom80 (talk) 16:18, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

UPDATE:

So I read the following page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:BAND#Criteria_for_musicians_and_ensembles about what makes you "notable" and I think that the articles in Sound Magazine, The Seattle Weekly and having my music in the Sonicsgate film are all three "notable" sources. Does there need to be more? thank you, Wizdom80 (talk) 16:42, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

First of all, the page did not list any of that info. Without the sources, the page did not indicate why the group was notable enough to warrant an article. Secondly, if you have a conflict of interest with the group (as suggested by your username), you are highly discouraged from editing/creating their article. TNXMan 16:42, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

OK, that makes sense. I have never created a page on Wikipedia, so my apologies. I followed the same style as another local music group, Dyme Def, that has a page and thought keeping it simple would be easiest. I guess I should have read up first. And the way I see it, according to your words, someone else should create the page, I just assumed it would be the appropriate thing to due. What is the next step to get the page on Wiki? If it can't be, I understand and that is fine. Wizdom80 (talk) 16:52, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

I would suggest heading over to WP:AFC. You can create the page there (allowing you to work on it without worrying about deletion) and another editor will review it and move it to the mainspace. If you have questions as you go, you can let me know. You can also check out this guide. TNXMan 17:14, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

If you do own the copyright to the material, you'll need to follow the instructions set out at WP:IOWN. Even if you do own the copyright, the article must still indicate why the person is notable enough to warrant an article and cannot be promotional. TNXMan 12:59, 12 March 2010 (UTC)

I had blocked this editor for repeatedly uploading copyrighted images. He came as an IP to my talk page saying he wasn't aware and won't repeat it and requested an unblock. Would you mind if I unblocked and monitor him for a month to make sure this behavior doesn't repeat? cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 17:29, 12 March 2010 (UTC)

That's no problem at all. I only declined the request because the user seemed to be avoiding discussion of the warnings on their talk page. However, if you feel they've reformed, feel free to unblock. If I can help, please let me know. TNXMan 17:33, 12 March 2010 (UTC)

Hello

Hi. As you were the admin who blocked User:BlackJack, I wonder if you could read his recent post at his user talk and the AN discussion he links to.

Thanks, --Dweller (talk) 13:26, 16 March 2010 (UTC)

Of course. Reading the page, it is clear that BlackJack understands the problem and will avoid any future issues. As I mentioned earlier, I have no problem with lifting the block if the things have been fixed up (and they obviously have).
I do understand that BlackJack has been stalked by someone using dynamic IP addresses and wanted to create a new account to get away from that (which is fine). However, if he would like to create a new account, then any and all old accounts must be abandoned.
I'll head over to BlackJack's page to let him know he has been unblocked. If there are further issues, please let me know. TNXMan 13:40, 16 March 2010 (UTC)

Please can you STOP deleting my page, I have continuously edited it to take out the 'promotional' material that you claim it to have. It is NOT being used to promote or advertise the company, the entire page is for informational purposes as MRL are a recognised consultancy firm, so why should they not be in an encyclopedia???? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Psc2010 (talkcontribs) 14:49, 18 March 2010 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but when the article includes language like "dynamic, fast growing, niche consulting firm", "has provided world-class consultancy services to a distinguished portfolio of clients", and "If you require further information on MRL Public Sector Consultants visit. . ." it's hard to see it as anything but an advertisement. TNXMan 14:54, 18 March 2010 (UTC)

I understand. I have reviewed the entire article and edited it so that in no way can it appear promitional. Please can you allow me to recreate the page under the title, MRL Public Sector Consultants Ltd? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Psc2010 (talkcontribs) 15:23, 18 March 2010 (UTC)

Please post the draft to a sandbox (something like User:Psc2010/Sandbox) first, so that it can be reviewed before being moved to the mainspace. TNXMan 15:34, 18 March 2010 (UTC)

Thanks. I have done that, what happens now? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Psc2010 (talkcontribs) 15:38, 18 March 2010 (UTC)

Well, either I or another editor can review it for you. Glancing over it, I can tell you that it is still an advert. It's not written from a neutral point of view and is not supported by independent reliable sources. Why don't you look at this guide, as it may help you make improvements? TNXMan 15:42, 18 March 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the advice. I have read over the link you sent and made a few more changes. Please can you have a look and let me know what else I can do? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Psc2010 (talkcontribs) 15:54, 18 March 2010 (UTC)

I've edited the sandbox for you and removed all of the advertising and other issues. However, the article still lacks evidence of significant coverage in independent reliable sources. TNXMan 16:03, 18 March 2010 (UTC)

So pretty much the entire article is gone apart from the first paragraph? As for the references, I didn't copy or get any of that information from any website/article/book etc, I worded it myself so what do I do for referencing it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Psc2010 (talkcontribs) 16:05, 18 March 2010 (UTC)

When I say references, you have to show where the company has received significant coverage in independent reliable sources (press releases and self published material doesn't count). That independent coverage makes the company notable enough to warrant an article. Simply existing is not reason enough to warrant an article. TNXMan 16:11, 18 March 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for that. I still don't really understand about the references though, I have read the articles you linked but it's slightly confusing. Can you give me an example of what I need? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Psc2010 (talkcontribs) 16:19, 18 March 2010 (UTC)

Take a look at MusicBee. It still needs improvement, but there are several links listed at the bottom of the page that show that outside organizations (magazines, blogs, newspapers, etc.) have written about the software. If no outside group has written about the company/product, then the subject is not notable enough to have an article on Wikipedia. TNXMan 16:24, 18 March 2010 (UTC)

Would you be able to have a quick look now and tell me if that's any better? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Psc2010 (talkcontribs) 16:37, 18 March 2010 (UTC)

Unfortunately, no. None of those links mention MRL at all. TNXMan 16:50, 18 March 2010 (UTC)

Dear Sir,

I see that you have deleted the page "Live Lebanon" in English for "unambiguous advertising and promotion". Greetings my friend!

Just a quick reminder that there is no need to indent before substituting {{creation}} - the template already contains the indenting colons and if you add another one, it screws up the quote box coding. As I mentioned on the Help Desk talk page, I think all the HD response templates should be coded to indent automatically, so I think I will work on that. – ukexpat (talk) 14:08, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

J Paul Valencia

article has been revised and makes no mention of the things he has accomplished. it has been on Wikipedia for more than a year. Please advise how to revise it with content.

I was in the midst of redoing J Paul Valencia back to its original content and state due to the recent attacks by some very sick and twisted individual named Donovan Rhee who lives in Los Angeles, CA, who has a long criminal history and who threatens the lives and safety of women and children. Now he is going around and changing people's biography's via cyberstalking. In the midst of the changes, it is stating that it is some sort of advertising, which it does not appear to be. Now the contents have been changed and the meaning of the article has been lost. Please advise how you would like the article to read. Also, please remove the history associated with the article. Thank you. lonestar708. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lonestar708 (talkcontribs) 17:33, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

Removal of J Paul Valencia

I understand that the article pertaining to "J Paul Valencia" is going to be deleted by your staff by reason that there is no reason for the article and page to exist. I believed that it was important to point out that Mr. Valencia has received significant awards from the US President and US Congress for his work as an educator of Corporate Entities, Structure, Development and Financing. I shall point out that this was a part of the criteria for a biography. He has led a very diversified life and has been involved in projects that have assisted entrepreneurs all over the world, as well as the construction of US domestic and foreign policy that have furthered the development of US Corporations globally. Because his life has been so ecelectic and he has accomplished so much in his short years, this page is still undergoing revision, yet it was posted due to its historical, cultural and educational significance. Mr. Valencia has been featured in newspapers - Wall Street Journal, LA Times, Concord Monitor, etc., founded two NPOs for historical education and has appeared in movies, tv shows and talk shows. I was under the impression (or rather according to Wikipedia - misimpression) that if an individual has received one of the highest awards a civilian can receive in the US for service to his Country that it should be worthy of mention in any encyclopedia. If this article is deleted because someone who has dedicated his life to such various life and community enriching causes as Mr. Valencia has dedicated his life, then the persons who are listed in Wikipedia simply because they are rich and other articles relating to persons who have won Oscars, Pulitzer Prizes, and other seemingly significant awards, should then be deleted from Wikipedia; and then we should delete Wikipedia itself from the Web as it would serve no purpose other than another website seeking donations, as there would be no other reason for the website. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lonestar708 (talkcontribs) 17:38, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

Ewelme Page

Hi, As you know I'm new to this and have been attempting to add information about an annual village event which is directly releted to the topic page. I've obvisously done something wrong but am unclear what it i? Can you help? Regards David —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ewelme Wik (talkcontribs) 14:25, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

I removed the material because it appeared to be an advertisement for the Charity Run. In order to be included, the material must be covered in independent reliable sources and written in from a neutral point of view. If you have questions as you go, please let me know. TNXMan 14:31, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

I'm sorry but I don't understand? There are advertisements on the page e.g. Pub, Brewery and Shop. The Chiltern Chase is an annual event in the village attracting 100's of people so how do I differentiate that from an advert? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ewelme Wik (talkcontribs) 14:51, 2 April 2010 (UTC) Ewelme Wik (talk) 14:54, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

Actually, I removed the info for shop (among other things) because they were not cited to a reliable source. Has the Chase received coverage in independent media? TNXMan 15:02, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

I have tried to read the help sections on Reliable Sources etc , but they seem to be more for academic material. As far as "coverage in independent media" goes, a Google search for Chiltern Chase shows (many) hundreds of entrys from publications and running clubs. Does that count? Regards Ewelme Wik (talk) 15:10, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

Yes, anything in a reputable third-party source would be great. However, including things like a contact phone # or website for registration is not allowed. TNXMan

Decon Media, Inc. -> Decon

Hey Tnxman307,

I tried to do a 'cut and paste move' to bring Decon Media, Inc. over to just Decon (as I indicate in the edit history, there's no reference to their name being Decon Media, Inc. in any articles related to them). I didn't realize that the edit history wouldn't be preserved; would you be able to temporarily delete the 'Decon' page so that I can properly move Decon Media over to Decon?

Thanks so much.

Best, Jpr2127 (talk) 16:32, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

I'm also significantly updating the references on the article once it it moved; I found an additional dozen or so third-party sources on the company to flesh out the citations.

Thanks again. Jpr2127 (talk) 16:34, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

Done, I think. If I've missed anything, please let me know. TNXMan 16:37, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

Your advice please.

Hello Tnxman307,

A new entry, FAST Festival of Australian Student Theatre was deleted by you today.

I edited the new post after it went up earlier on and removed the wording which may be considered as promotional and left only the facts.

FAST is in the very same category as NSDF (as you can view here on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Student_Drama_Festival) -, I was wondering what you considered promotional in the text? If the information on FAST followed exactly the same guidelines as the wiki post for NSDF, I wondered what was different.

Maybe you could assist me with this so as I can edit what you considered promotional, as the festival, I believe, is unbiased information for the nation of Australia, and others and deserves a place on Wikipedia.

Any assistance with this would be much appreciated.

I'm sorry, but the article was deleted because it was a borderline advertisement. You can even ask another editor to review it for you beforehand. I would also suggest reading our info on writing your first article, how to write from a neutral point of view, and how to use reliable sources. One last note - the state/content of other articles does not have a bearing on your article. Each article is judged and edited separately. TNXMan 11:59, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for handling the G12 CSD of this page. As an FYI, I've posted to several related wikiproject talk pages requesting someone with article writing skills write up a non-copyvio, non-spammy page on this topic. IMHO, given the current US national exposure the park is getting, it deserves a page on the project. But for G11 and G12 reasons, the page that was there was not the page we needed/wanted, and the deleted version did not really contain anything salvageable IMHO. So please do not be surprised if a page pops right back up in that location. I'll be watching carefully to make sure that any such page does not repeat the problems that got the first version deleted. - TexasAndroid (talk) 14:34, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

or should I just leave them as CSD A7's? mauler90 (talk) 19:36, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

I would say PROD them. There is enough evidence of importance (commanders during a major conflict) to avoid speedy deletion, but without expansion, they certainly fall under PRODs. TNXMan 19:55, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
OK, I'll go remove the CSD's then and slap the PROD's on. From what I can tell he was just posting straight out of an old magazine so I doubt he will expand them much mauler90 (talk) 19:57, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

Block

I don't know why Kww reverts always my edit and you block my IP, but I know that I'm not this. Yes, I'm from Italy but I'm not ItHysteria. Your edits (and those of Kww) are vandalisms because my contributions are always good and with sources. Well, I write you the edits that should be made. Here, there are two sources that describe the band's genre as progressive metal (an Orlando Sentinel review and a Shoutweb article). For this, there are again two sources (a BBC article and a EMI news). Here there is a sources from Billboard that clearly states the peak position is number 34 and an official sources for the Austrian Singles Chart's number 73. These are good and constructive edits, so, for "your love of wikipedia", is better to stop removing my constructive contributions. Sorry for my language. Regards.--79.31.43.220 (talk) 19:54, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

Barely worth noting that every IP he has hopped to is in a range that has been traced to ItHysteria in the past. Do I need to open a new SPI, or will you go ahead and block this IP as well?—Kww(talk) 21:40, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
Done and done. I was going to let it go until s/he started editing articles again. It's easy when they raise their hand and ask for a block. TNXMan 21:53, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
Seriously? I tell you that I'm logged at an internet cafe, so I do not know who changed wikipedia before me. I tell you that my contributions are always good and ALWAYS WITH RELIABLE SOURCES so your edits are vandalisms. My contributions are just and based. If you block me again, I can turn off Internet and change my IP address (your warning is good-for-nothing). "for your love of wikipedia (lol), is better to stop removing my constructive contributions". Sorry for my language. Regards.--80.117.217.74 (talk) 12:29, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

Block of user Lexvv

Hi Tnxman, you blocked user Lexvv (with double v, not w) this afternoon after he had vandalized my user page and discussion page. Thanx, man ;-) But seriously: this action of him might very well be because of a dispute that I'm involved in on the Dutch wikipedia (I am an administrator there). I guess that this Lexvv (with double v) is an incarnation of my opponent on the Dutch wiki. Is there a way to verify that (cross-wiki) by means of checkuser? And secondly: is your block only on the english wiki, and if so, can it be extended cross-wiki? I ask this because this is not the first time that someone registered as Lexvv to impersonate me: the first time was on nl, but at that time there were not yet global usernames. Thanks in advance for your answer. Lexw (talk) 22:13, 12 April 2010 (UTC)

Cross-wiki checks are possible, but I don't know under what circumstances they are done (I believe only for serious spamming/vandalism abuses). The best I can do for you there is to point you to the local checkusers at the checkuser talk page so you can ask their advice.
My block of the user is only valid on the English Wikipedia. There are global blocks (see Special:GlobalBlockList), but I believe they are only for IP addresses. If there's anything else with which I can help, please let me know. TNXMan 23:23, 12 April 2010 (UTC)
This information is enough, thank you. I'll contact a Dutch steward to continue this matter. And thanks for pointing out to Tommy2010 that it wasn't me that posted that idiot message. Lexw (talk) 06:51, 13 April 2010 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for the words of support. It certainly is a creative twist on events -- I especially like the part where I somehow was able to alter Wikipedia history to "lessen" the offense after the fact.  :) Hopefully some other brave admins seek adventure and will assist with my request, though I'd understand why few would want to. Thanks again! //Blaxthos ( t / c ) 03:38, 13 April 2010 (UTC)

Yii (PHP Application Framework)

Dear Tnxman307. You lobbied the deletion of two articles regarding the PHP application frameworks Yii Framework and PRADO by Qiangxue, the head developer of both projects. At least the later project Yii receives attention in print media like the reputably IT magazines iX and c't: News about Yii Version 1.0 and Heise Newsticker about Yii

Yii is very young, it started in January 2008, the first release was in December 2008. Nevertheless, there is an increasing number of serious projects being realized using Yii. Even if the article about Yii was a stub with self-advertising that would have needed some work, there was no reason to remove the mentioning of Yii from the Comparison of web application frameworks. Yii is currently No. 2 in the Top 10 Ranking of PHP Frameworks for good reasons: It covers all disciplines (MVC, templates, DB abstraction, caching, validation, AJAX, authentication, module support, ...) with an ease. It adapts all desirable aspects of Ruby on Rails and is IMHO the best PHP adoption so far. It intelligently uses DB schemes for scaffolding. It is very fast and uses a very clean programming style.

Books are not an universal criteria for a Wikipedia article's right to exist. Take for example the approx. 4500 users of the Yii Forum. They are not socket puppets, but ambitious or professional developers. By deleting the article, you prejudged a great new project. Many people might not look further into this wonderful application framework because it does not have its own Wikipedia entry.

--RedSpy (talk) 06:17, 13 April 2010 (UTC)

If you feel that you can write a neutral, reliably sourced version of those articles, please feel free to do so. The AfD discussions you mention were closed many months ago and Wikipedia recognizes that consensus can change.
As for the removal from Comparison of web application frameworks, you'll notice that all of the software listed there has a Wikipedia article. Before another program can be added, the Wikipedia article has to exist first. I would encourage you to write a draft of your article in your userspace (something like User:RedSpy/Sandbox), where you can work on improving the article before moving it to the mainspace. deletion of Local Food Plus info

(same info on my talk page, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Vj_stokes#deletion_of_Local_Food_Plus_info as per your preferences, as I understand them)

Hello Tnxman307 --

I see you've deleted the post I was working on (Local Food Plus). I'm wondering how best to post information on this organization? I am doing some work for the organization (disclosure: potential Conflict of Interest). They are a notable organization with independent reliable sources (these are the ones I'm trying to include) and don't currently have an article.

I've recreated it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Vj_stokes.

Might you be able to offer any more detailed feedback about how to get this information included?.. People are hungry for it (sic),

Appreciatively yours,

Vj stokes (talk) 14:46, 13 April 2010 (UTC) Vj stokes

The article was deleted because it was an advertisement for the organization. Wikipedia does not allow advertising, as all articles must be neutrally written and sourced using independent, third-party reliable sources. I would suggest you read our info on writing your first article and write a draft in your userspace (something like User:Vj stokes/Sandbox or your userpage where you've started). I will also leave you a message on your talk page with some helpful links. TNXMan 15:05, 13 April 2010 (UTC)

Maybe a longer block than that?

I realise this is 199.164.68.176 (talk · contribs · WHOIS)'s first block, but their page has warnings from 2006. HalfShadow 16:44, 13 April 2010 (UTC)

True, but look at their editing history. Some activity today, some last month, and some large gaps. I think we should start with this and see where it goes. TNXMan 16:46, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
There were 4 edits in 2009 alone from this IP; a longer block would be inappropriate. IP blocks are not based (solely) on how long the IP has been in use. Tnxman was spot on here. Tan | 39 13:57, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but until the article is written neutrally with reliable sources, it should not be listed on Wikipedia. I would suggest reading our info on writing your first article. TNXMan 11:47, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

Page Deletion

I hope you are doing well, can I inquire as to why Triad Compufix page was deleted? What is to judge what is notable? Mchlptrllo (talk) 14:51, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

See WP:CORP for notability criteria for companies. Tan | 39 14:52, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
(edit conflict) Companies are considered notable if they've received significant coverage in independent reliable sources (see this page for more details on notability). Simply existing as a company does not warrant an article on Wikipedia. I would suggest reading our info on writing your first article and writing a draft in your userspace (something like User:Mchlptrllo/Sandbox), where another editor can review the info for you and help you move it to the mainspace. TNXMan 14:55, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

facepalm

You, sir, are an idiot. I did not even need to admit my identity on the checkuser page. I just mentioned there that I have been open about my identity. If not for this free and open edit, Paul wouldn't have known in the first place. I did not need to admit my identity on the checkuser page for you to block me, don't act like you "caught me in the act" or anything. And nothing short of a rangeblock is going to accomplish anything anyway. Maybe I should be more secretive from now on, to give retards like yourself a greater feeling of accomplishment once you "figure me out". facepalm.jpg --78.34.218.85 (talk) 19:49, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

Was just doing my job checking edits and reporting as necessary per what my User Page says, I check to see if a Block User is using any other IP addresses so in the above case I was in the right and 78.34.218.85 was clearly saying I was in the wrong. Can other Users/Sysops/Checkusers verify that I did the right thing. Thanks Paul2387 20:17, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

Vandalism-only account

I seem to have stumbled on a vandalism only account (User:Jbeaton04). All edits are vandalism with the majority being homophobic in nature and major BLP violations. e.g. The first edit to their talk page was this gem. They've been using the account sporadically for vandal edits since 2007, yet somehow I'm the only editor to post a warning on their talk page. Any chance of a block to avoid future shenanigans? --Jezebel'sPonyoshhh 15:45, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

Fair Trials International page deletion

Hi

You deleted the page Fair Trials International. I am slightly confused as

(1) This page has existed before (charity used to be called Fair Trials Abroad and had a Wikipedia article in this name) (2) This is a registered charity in the UK. It is not a company. The article simply explains the history of the charity and the work we do. It does not ask people to support us or donate to us (3) Similar charities such as Prisoners Abroad, Amnesty International are listed and contain similar information.

Please could you either restore the article or provide advice on which sections need to be taken out for this to appear on Wikipedia.

Thanks

Carterlane59 (talk) 14:30, 13 April 2010 (UTC)

The article was deleted because it was a blatant advertisement for the organization. Wikipedia does not allow advertising, as all articles must be neutrally written and sourced using independent, third-party reliable sources. I would suggest you read our info on writing your first article and write a draft in your userspace (something like User:Carterlane59/Sandbox). I will also leave you a message on your talk page with some helpful links. Finally, all articles on Wikipedia are judged independently and the state/content of one article has no bearing on another article. TNXMan 14:40, 13 April 2010 (UTC)

Hi Tnxman. Thanks for the changes you made to the Fair Trials International Page. I am just making a few more minor edits. From reading FTI's annual review which is on their website, it appears that casework is at the core of what they do so I think its important to have a short section in the article regarding this. I have accurately sourced this section as the footnotes now show.

I also think the Louise Woodward text needs to be further expanded. It is fundamental to the case that the Judge didn't just reduce her sentence but he stated clearly that there had been a miscarriage of justice at the original trial. This is also backed up by the curent text in the wikipedia article on Louise Woodward. I have therefore amended this text and also sourced the quote and text from a BBC news article.

I have also made made a few other minor edits but everything I have changed has been sourced by a news article or other published text.

Thanks again for drawing my attention to the need for more verifiable text. I appreciate it. This is my first wiki article but I have really enjoyed researching it so hopefully there will be more. Doofisis84 (talk) 12:12, 16 April 2010 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from User talk:72.158.85.2. When removing text, please specify a reason in the edit summary and discuss edits that are likely to be controversial on the article's talk page. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the text has been restored, as you can see from the page history. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Thank you for bringing this up, as it does raise some red flags. I am not overly concerned with the user gaining confirmed status (as this would have happened shortly, regardless). However, any future rights requests should be examined closely to ensure everything is kosher. I did glance through their contributions, but it appears I should have looked closer. If something more comes up, please let me know. TNXMan 18:30, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

It's alright :) ShockMetric 20:52, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

Hey there Tnxman307, just a quick note regarding this case. I was wondering if you'd care to consider blocking Afatatlot indefinitely, as they are probably related to Stopallspam, who is a fairly long term abuser of sockpuppets. The link between Stopallspam and Afatatlot is too  Stale for a checkuser to confirm, but seems to be fairly well established based on behaviour. If you'd still prefer to leave Afatatlot with just a two week block that's fine.
Kindest regards, SpitfireTally-ho! 03:55, 16 April 2010 (UTC)

I've left a note there saying that I've upped the block to indef. The talk page abuse and such pushed it beyond the pale. IF you need further input, just let me know. Cheers! TNXMan 11:53, 16 April 2010 (UTC)
Okay, thank you very much. Regards, SpitfireTally-ho! 13:57, 16 April 2010 (UTC)

Questionable deletion of Panda Day

I see you've deleted the Panda Day article as a test page. In my opinion this does not look like a test page, because I made a Google search to show whether this day exists or not. The editor created this article in good faith. I don't see any point why this should be deleted under any criteria (unless there is a notability guideline for days), and I would like this article to be restored sometime soon, so that we can expand on it. Minimac (talk) 16:55, 16 April 2010 (UTC)

It's restored, but it looks like an article test to me. If you need help after expansion, just let me know. TNXMan 17:20, 16 April 2010 (UTC)

Why was my page deleted when I just started

Hi I am creating a page for one of my professors who has made substantial contributions to the field of health disparities and global health. Yet, I only started to work on the page and you deleted it. Please tell me why? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mlo12 (talkcontribs) 17:57, 16 April 2010 (UTC)

The page was deleted because it was a blatant advertisement for the professor and looked very much like a copyright infringement. I would suggest reading our info on writing your first article, writing from a neutral point of view, and using reliable sources. You may also want to write a draft in a sandbox (something like User:Mlo12/Sandbox) where you can work on improving the info before moving it to the mainspace. TNXMan 18:03, 16 April 2010 (UTC)

Jim Carrey semi-protection

Hi! Regarding your recent indefinite protection on Jim Carrey - I don't think there was huge amounts of vandalism. If there were multiple reverts of an IP in one single day, I would consider setting the semi to expire in one to three weeks. However, if there was constant vandalism from different users between the semi protection and the unprotection, it could be indefinitely protected. This is just my opinion, and you could set the semi to expire at some time if you want.

Also, a week ago you didn't really "unprotect" the page; you just removed the semi. :-) Schfifty3 18:25, 16 April 2010 (UTC)

I originally responded to a request at RFPP to lift the semi-protection, as it had been in place for a while. I lifted the semi and kept my eye on the page - what I saw was various IP addresses returning almost immediately with vandalism, test edits, and the like, so I reinstated the former protection. TNXMan 18:42, 16 April 2010 (UTC)
I see. Do you plan to leave it as indefinite for now, or do are you thinking of maybe setting an expiry date? Schfifty3 22:46, 16 April 2010 (UTC)
I'd like to leave it for now, but I have no objections if anyone requests that it be lifted in the future. I'd rather have someone ask so that the requester (is that a word?) and the responding admin can both watch the page instead of having the protection expire with no one paying extra attention. SPI

Hi again Tnxman307, could you please take a look at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Pioneercourthouse again? I think the case argues that the listed IP is related, but the IP is not yet blocked. Is this intentional? Thanks! --Shirik (Questions or Comments?) 22:47, 16 April 2010 (UTC)

Huh. When I look at the IP's contributions, it says "change block" instead of the normal "block user". I thought this was because of an existing rangeblock or autoblock, but can find evidence of neither. I'll fix that now. Thanks for the heads up. TNXMan 22:56, 16 April 2010 (UTC)
You may honestly have been right. I'm not privy to the tools you have. Anyway, thanks for taking care of it! --Shirik (Questions or Comments?) 22:58, 16 April 2010 (UTC)
For what it's worth, the software does that when an autoblock is in place. Kind regards, SpitfireTally-ho! 03:08, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

User:78.34.252.188 Block evasion

A block you placed on User:78.34.252.188 was a temporary block which has now expired, this exposed threat to User:Everyme who could use it to evade his block. A 55 hour block is not appropriate for a block evader. If I'd have been a sysop I'd have given it a indefinite block. Also you don't seem to have seen the {{sockpuppeteer}} tag that is on the User Page indicating that the IP address is a suspected sockpuppet of User:Everyme. Paul2387 16:45, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

Well, IPs are rarely, if ever blocked indefinitely. IP addresses change, often within a period of a week or less. There are exceptions to this, of course (open proxies, static IP addresses). You'll notice that there have been no edits from this IP since the block expired. Also, because IP addresses change, placing a tag on the IP's user page may not accomplish much, as the next person to use that IP could be someone completely different. I hope this clears up the reason for the block length I used, but if you have other questions, please let me know. TNXMan 17:01, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

Removal of articles

I recently created an article for a band that was tagged for speedy deletion. I can understand that wikipedia needs to be kept clean and squared away, but you seem to be notorious for removing articles based on personal opinions with almost no grounds based on the interests of information keeping. I'm relatively new here but I'm certain there is a way to dispute administrators that are not performing their duties correctly (such as you). It's a shame that such a wonderful tool as wikipedia is being administered and moderated by not-so-wonderful tools, such as yourself. Once I find the correct avenue of reporting abuses of power, you can rest assured that it will be your username on the report. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Seanmeadows (talkcontribs) 13:59, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

The article you created, Seven Sins (band), was deleted because it did not indicate why the group was notable enough to warrant an article. I would encourage you to read our info on writing your first article and try writing a draft in a sandbox (something like User:Seanmeadows/Sandbox). This will allow you to improve the article before moving it to the mainspace. If you would like wider input on my actions, you're more than welcome to bring them up on this page. Demonic Resurrection

I'm contacting you regarding the deletion of the page of the death metal band Demonic Resurrection. You may have deleted the page at a time when the band wasn't that influential. But recently they signed onto Candlelight Records for worldwide distribution moving on from their own indepedent label Demonstealer Records. Surely a band signed under Candlelight Records as to be imporatant enough, even if they aren't from the Western world, after all the western world isn't the whole world. Hunting the Snark

I should have written the article as a new article allowing other editors' input. This book is well known in the field of American Poetry. You seemed to have deleted the article permanently without consensus especially from poetry experts. You never gave the article a chance to ferment and improve. I can't find the article to put it as a new wiki article. Can you assist in retrieving this article that you deleted. The article does deserve more than one judge & juror, don't you think? Pjt48 (talk) 17:43, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but article was a blatant advertisement. Sentences like "a timeless and unprecedented compendium of poetic terminology" and "Peters snubs one ink-stained nose at the usual geographic or chronological format for most reference works, replacing them with hilarious and thought-provoking classifications" really don't have a place in a neutrally written encyclopedia. I can restore the content for you to a sandbox (User:Pjt48/Sandbox) where you can work on improving it. TNXMan 17:57, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

Yes! Your point regarding neutrality is well taken even though one example was a quote but never-the-less is wasn't objective for wiki standards of neutrality. Thanks for saving and transferring the article to the user's sandbox so I can objectify the article. Pjt48 (talk) 20:31, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

No problem. If you have questions as you go, just let me know. TNXMan 20:35, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

Hi again. I've neutralized the article and I believe it is ready to be launched as a new wiki article. I need your advice how to do this. Trying to do this myself, I found it tricky. Thank you for whatever assistance you are willing to give. Pjt48 (talk) 15:32, 23 April 2010 (UTC)

I've moved the article for you to Hunting the Snark. I've also cleaned up some of the peacock terms, formatted it some, and rewrote some of it. TNXMan 15:47, 23 April 2010 (UTC)

If you don't mind me being non-neutral, I must say you are a true gentlemen and so proficient. Your contribution is most appreciated. I hope you represent the vast majority of Wiki contributors. Hey, I just wanted to drop you a line about this guy (I've been watching him very closely sine the account was created). I notice you username blocked him and, while I condone the block itself since he's an obvious VoA, I don't think a block is warranted solely for the username. I looked it up with a view to making a UAA report, but according to our article, "Nigro" is a legitimate Italian name and according to Dictionary.com "Jiminy" is a mild expletive, so I didn't make a UAA report. I doubt it would be appropriate to unblock since the account is clearly vandalism only, but I just wanted to share my thoughts. Would you mind leaving me a {{talkback}} when you reply. Best, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 16:28, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

While "Nigro" may be a valid surname, I really don't think that was the intent here. The vandalism leads me to believe that the user was solely here to disrupt and chose a username to reflect that. In hindsight, I could have chosen to use {{vaublock}}, which would have covered both cases, but the link from UAA pre-filled in {{uw-uhblock}} and I let it go. I hope this answers your question. TNXMan 20:31, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
Yes, I definitely agree on the intent. I just wanted to share my thoughts. They obviously had no intent of being productive and that's all that matters really. Best, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 20:35, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

It was protected by User:NuclearWarfare (who's taking a wikibreak) but less than 24 hours after the protection, I've had to revert 4 edits by User:142.25.146.215. Cheers! And thanks for being out there! --Technopat (talk) 16:41, 27 April 2010 (UTC)

Hmm. It looks like the the IP is the only person to edit the article today, so semi-protection is probably too much at this point. The IP also hasn't edited in about thirty minutes, so I'm hesitant to block them. If they continue to vandalize, definitely report them to AIV. If there is more disruption from different IPs, let me know and I can protect the article for a little bit. Cheers! TNXMan 16:44, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
Greetings again - no, I wasn't asking for the IP to be blocked or for the page to be protected. It just struck me as curious that an IP with no previous edits could vandalise it so soon after it had been protected. --Technopat (talk) 17:06, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
Oh! Sorry about that. The page was move-protected (meaning no one but an admin could move it to a different title), but not semi-protected (meaning that anyone could edit it). When protection is implemented, you can bundle it (moving and editing) or protect each aspect differently. TNXMan 17:10, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
Gotcha back! Thanks for explanation. --Technopat (talk) 17:13, 27 April 2010 (UTC)

Block evasion - Edwin Black

You blocked 71.163.128.247 earlier this month for block evasion by Edwin Black. He's returned, posting a request on my page, and making some changes to his named user page. Would you mind watching this, and if things get a bit crazy, consider taking some action? Thanks! Ravensfire (talk) 14:46, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

That would be block evasion and is grounds for a block of the IP. However, since they have not edited today, I don't think any immediate action is required. If they do pop up again, please let me know or post to AIV so the issue can be examined. Thanks! TNXMan 14:50, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

World Futures Studies Federation

An editor just requested WP:CSD#G12 on World Futures Studies Federation. I confirmed that every version appears to comprise primarily copyrighted material, but I also see that you were working on the article fairly recently (and not adding such material). I just massively stubbed the article rather than deleting it. Regards, - 2/0 (cont.) 17:34, 27 April 2010 (UTC)

I saw the tag today, but didn't act on it, as I had been editing the article. My edits were primarily removal of marketing material, peacock terms, etc.. Greetings again, Tnxman307 - sorry to intrude, but the invitation (on your user page) to involve you has just proved itself to hard to resist. I have just 3Red (albeit with two different (?) editors over at the Peter Fontaine article. Please check it out. Cheers! --Technopat (talk) 18:40, 27 April 2010 (UTC)

I've opined on the talk page. Cheers! TNXMan 18:54, 27 April 2010 (UTC)

User:AndBOT unblocked

Although you seemed to be trying to discuss potential COI issues with this user, I have unblocked them as they agreed to change their name. I understand what you were trying to do but frankly I think it's terribly unfair to post a message that says in bold letters "Your username is the only reason for this block" and then not unblock them when they agree to change it to something more compliant. Personally if I find that someone has an unacceptable username and is spamming, I post Template:uw-spamublock which makes it clear that there are two problems which both must be addressed if the user wishes to resume editing. Beeblebrox (talk) 23:32, 27 April 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for the notice. I was going to unblock the user, I simply wanted them to understand the potential COI issues. Any sort of response from them would have been good. In any case, thank you for bringing it up and if there's anything else, definitely let me know. TNXMan 13:30, 28 April 2010 (UTC)
Will do. And sorry if I came off as lecturing you, as now that I think about it I have seen you use Template:uw-spamublock plenty of times. Beeblebrox (talk) 16:10, 28 April 2010 (UTC)

Hi TnXman

I've left a notice on zzuuzz's page but I think might be offline now and see you're currently active in blocking people and those abusing multiple accounts. Anyways, I was helping a new user and noticed this page history which kind of looks a bit like a duck here. I was wondering what I should do. Thanks --Tommy2010 15:40, 28 April 2010 (UTC)

It looks like there are a couple different groups going back and forth. I would go through the content to determine what needs to stay (and matches up with the sources) and what needs to be removed. I've restored the content, as it looks like there are sources listed, but it really needs to be cleaned up. For the moment, it looks like an edit war, with no concrete evidence of socking, but if things continue the way they are, you may want to report it at SPI. TNXMan 15:49, 28 April 2010 (UTC)
Thanks Tommy2010 15:54, 28 April 2010 (UTC)

Proscan Survey Question

I have just taken the Proscan Survey and I have some questions on how to take the survey. Where would I go to ask these questions? Thank You,

I'm not sure to what you are referring. This is Wikipedia, which is the free encyclopedia that anyone can edit. TNXMan 15:56, 28 April 2010 (UTC)

Need you to take a look at this

Hey, I need you to go trough a SPI. Its very important that you read through everything. From the beginning to the end. [3]

The NT account is exclusively used to do the exact same edits as AC, and so far, no one has explained how its possible that the NT account contacted ACs sock. Can you take a look at the evidence? --Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 00:53, 29 April 2010 (UTC)

Can you take a look at the evidence or not? I would really like to hear how its possible that the NT account contacted ACs sock. --Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 00:21, 30 April 2010 (UTC)

Return IP vandal

User:63.88.38.224 has been blocked over the years for vandalism. In Oct 2007, it was a long term block that apparently was lifted. You placed another long term block on the IP in March 2010, but that IP is back, vandalizing again. I'm not sure if it was lifted or what. If you have a minute, would you mind checking into it? Niteshift36 (talk) 13:46, 29 April 2010 (UTC)

IP asked a question. --NeilN talk to me 16:51, 29 April 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, I saw that. I'd be happy to answer their question if they post it correctly. I believe (but am not certain) this is the same person who vandalized my page several times directly after the article was deleted. TNXMan 11:58, 30 April 2010 (UTC)

I know its spread out, but you may want to check out the discussion happening at Hersfold's, mine, and jpgordon's user talk pages. There seems to have been an error in interpreting the CU (even CUs aren't perfect); something about this guy doesn't fit the standard Jessica Liao model, behaviorally speaking. jpgordon is himself a checkuser, and seems to think that Hersfold may have been mistaken (though understandably). This may at the surface end up looking different than if we dig a bit deeper. --Jayron32 05:12, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for the heads up. I'll follow the conversation(s) and please let me know if I can help. TNXMan 13:35, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

Hi. I thought you had blocked this editor, who is posting on his or her talk page. Beyond My Ken (talk) 05:22, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

They are indeed blocked, but I did not disable their talk page, which they are still free to use to request unblocking or make other comments. A blocked user's talk page is disabled iff they are using to post abusive material or are abusing the unblock template. I'll stop by their page and explain how they can use an unblock template. Hunting the Snark Pt.2

Hi again Tnxman307. Can I bug you for some pointers to insert: File:Hunting the Snark book cover.JPG to wiki's article: Hunting the Snark. You were right about the puzzlement of inserting images into articles. I got nowhere. Forgive me for inserting the image here & it's so large Pjt48 (talk) 17:58, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

I resized the image and forced floating right. Please feel free to revert or adjust. - 2/0 (cont.) 20:09, 1 May 2010 (UTC)
Check out Hunting the Snark. I've put the image in and added the caption. Let me ask you though, do you know that the image's copyright has been released? If so, that's great, but if not, we need to tweak the tag on the image a little bit. Cheers. TNXMan 01:03, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

Geez! The image looks great. I wish I didn't have to be dependent on the kindness of strangers but after saying that I thank you more than you can imagine. I'm the author's literary executor and I believe earnestly that the image is free domain and I will take all responsibility otherwise. Pjt48 (talk) 08:48, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

It's no problem. Book covers are a great addition to the related articles. If you have any other questions as you go, please drop me a line. TNXMan 13:57, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

TASDELEN (talk) 17:46, 2 May 2010 (UTC)Are Kepler's laws rigth?

TASDELEN (talk) 19:59, 30 April 2010 (UTC)Hi, I have the folowing comments about Kepler's laws: In 1609 Kepler claimed the orbits of the planets to be elliptical. In 1618 he gave the law of periods to be (P1/P2)^2=(r1/r2)^3. 50 years later Newton confirmed Kepler's period law,IF and IF the orbits are circular.Did Kepler meant, that the elliptic orbits tend to be circular with time, that the orbits are not solid elliptical? I think, yes. Then what is the shape of the real orbits? How does a solid elliptical shape may be transformed to a circle? Probably the orbits were not elliptical. They just looked to be elliptical while in reality they were spiraled orbits. In fact spiraled orbit gives the same eccentricity as the eccentricity of an ellipse. In this concern: Newton’s F*dt=m*dv should be considered. The equation of the motion is derived there from.

Newton's F*dt=m*dV means F*r*dt=m*r*dVr (energy conservation) and we write 1/2*m*Vr^2+m*gr*r+1/2*I*w^2=m*r*dVr (total energy) That is: Vr^2+2*gr*r+I*w^2/m=2*r*dVr a differential equation dr^2+K*dt^2=2*r*d(dr) with solution r=-a*t*(t-tmax)+K where K=2*gr*r+I*w^2/m=-a^2*tmax^2/(1+4*a)

When we draw a polar graph of r=-a*t*(t-tmax) we see billions of spirals, expanding and then compressing. Any where, any sign of ellipse. These spirals are on a paraboloid surface along the orbit of the Sun in its galaxy. And spirals are around the Sun,at the center. No ellipse,no focus,no aphelion,no perihelion nor equality of swept areas in equal interval of time.

These spiraled orbits explain also why the celestial bodies have to turn one around the other. This is simply Newton's attraction force=centrifugal force.Centrifugal force needs a tangential velocity, which explain also the spiraled orbits, while the attraction is radial. <blanked> Are Kepler's laws rigth? Redvers goodmorning.I'm writing here not to evade my block but i couldn't do something different. So,I asked in the greek wikipedia to be renamed and they renamed me and for the reason that i had a unified log in accounts were made (automaticly?) in the wikis i had the unified log in including the en.wiki.So if you want you can redirect my user page with the user name iordanis_777 to my user page with the user name customizer_2010 and block that page as well. But i don't want my old page because it has my name.you can block the new one and have the templates with the blockage and the denied appeals copy pasted to the new one if there is a problem.Thank you.Customizer 2010 (talk) 10:30, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

The reason that i write this to you is that i don't want to be acused for puppetiring and/or for evading my block.Customizer 2010 (talk) 06:45, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

Giving you a heads up that you might want to take another look at this user. You blocked them for sockpuppetry, but according to the user it's a case of meatpuppetry and not being aware of Wikipedia polices regarding such. Also, the user claims they were asleep during the sock investigation and were therefore unable to explain their actions. It looks from their recent userpage comments that they do indeed want to constructively contribute to the enclycopedia. I don't know if an early unblock is in order but you might want to take a look. Thanks. --N419BH (talk) 01:18, 6 May 2010 (UTC)

Well, according to the investigation this definitely looks like a case of sockpuppetry. However, if you feel the user would like to contribute constructively, I would suggest helping them write an unblock request. I have no objection if another admin would like to reduce/lift their block. TNXMan 13:44, 6 May 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, I looked through that investigation after I messaged you and it looks like maybe they aren't telling the whole truth on their talk page. I'll let them figure it out. --N419BH (talk) 15:07, 6 May 2010 (UTC)

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. Wikipedia isn't really a place to host links to other sites. All of the material should be encyclopedic and supported by reliable sources. Please check out our external links guide and if you have any questions, please let me know. TNXMan 14:40, 10 May 2010 (UTC)

Your revert of me

Here This link is reliably sourced, please look in the modifications and sequels section. Thanks mark nutley (talk) 13:01, 13 May 2010 (UTC)

I don't think that the source is reliable. There's a three sentence description of the game and a link to the fansite. Reliable sources should provide in-depth coverage of the subject, not passing mentions with a link to another site. TNXMan 13:14, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
You don`t think Codeweavers is a reliable source for computer games? They are a very reliable source for such things. mark nutley (talk) 13:18, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
No, I just don't think that particular page is very reliable. It's a blurb at best and shouldn't be used to justify the inclusion of link to a unrelated (that is, unrelated to Codeweavers) fansite. TNXMan 13:23, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
As the game is quite old there are very few reviews for it nowadays, i suppose i`ll have to go the the reliable sources noticeboard. Thanks mark nutley (talk) 13:40, 13 May 2010 (UTC)

Wikipedia can only accept articles about artists that have received significant coverage in independent third-party reliable sources. Your article did not indicate why the person was notable enough to warrant an article. I would also encourage you to read our info on conflict of interest. If you have a conflict of interest, you are highly discouraged from writing about the subject. TNXMan 13:22, 18 May 2010 (UTC)

Joey Shaw

Hi Tnxman

I am new to wiki. I saw you edited my post in regards to Joey Shaw. I understand why normally a post like mine would be edited. I ask you to reconsider. I am a well established professional photographer in LA. Joey Shaw used our studio for one week last July. This is where he shot a bulk of the celebrities. Unfortunetly nobody got paid. This wasn't simply a case about someone not paying their bills. I can fully document that everything he did was one of the biggest scams I have come across in my professional career. The magazine he works for, H magazine is a total fraud. If you type in the text to most articles you will see they were lifted straight for wikipedia. To my knowledge not a single person was paid for the week shoot. I know nad have proof that the caterers, assistant, studio, hair and make up and others werent paid. I have solid proof that I have documented on a website that all the magazine and media Companies he supposedly works for are his creation and are frauds. http://www.joeyshawphotography.com/ I am happy to supply any further information. I think it is imprative that we protect others from this fraud before he hurts more people. Thanks for your time Micharel LohrMichael Lohr (talk) 04:15, 18 May 2010 (UTC)

Well, the article has been deleted. Please note that Wikipedia has a very strict policy regarding the biographies of living people and any claims about someone (that they are a fraud, etc.) must be supported by independent reliable sources. TNXMan 13:20, 18 May 2010 (UTC)

You were way too hasty deleting the page that I am working on. I found the page deleted as not notable when I finished added content that shows it to be notable. Please reconisder. It should not be in any case speedy but subject to consensus discussion. She has been on the scene sine 1999 and earned Los Angeles Music Awards, multiple ones. Thanks, --Mareklug talk 20:54, 18 May 2010 (UTC)

I've restored the article. Please note however, that it does not mention any sort of awards, nor that she is signed to any notable label. The only sources were from her website. I would definitely encourage you to work on improving the article. TNXMan 20:56, 18 May 2010 (UTC)

Everyday People Guy

Welcome to the bizarro world of MascotGuy. This individual has been doing this idiocy for years; he is purportedly an autistic savant in San Diego with his very own abuse filter [4] and his very own long-term abuse page. So, if you ever see this weirdness pop up again, simply block the accounts. He has yet to place so much as a single keystroke on a talk page in his own defense. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 15:12, 19 May 2010 (UTC)

Thanks . . . I guess. :) I wasn't sure for which cues to look, such as a naming pattern, editing pattern, etc. . I just saw the suspicious account creations. However, if I can help, let me know. I've seen his name float across the admin boards from time to time. TNXMan 15:16, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the offer. I generally catch him either via the abuse filter or the new user's page. He's sorta-kinda harmless since he's taken to simply creating usernames as opposed to editing the article space, but he's the most annoying little pest on the site when he decides to create sock farms. He has at least 2000 socks and he's never managed to duplicae a name insofar as I know. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 05:13, 20 May 2010 (UTC)

MOBVIBE

Hello I am new in wikipedia, can you please point me to a direction regarding creating a valid band page for Mobvibe? It is a new band and there is not much available information around. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Christopherskauss (talkcontribs) 18:08, 19 May 2010 (UTC)

If they're a new band, I'm afraid they may not qualify for an article on Wikipedia. For a band to be notable enough to warrant an article, they must have received significant coverage in independent reliable sources (things like independent reviews, newspaper articles, etc.). You may want to read our guide to writing your first article, as that may be of assistance. TNXMan 18:17, 19 May 2010 (UTC)

Deletion of Michael A. Hughes article

Hello, You recently deleted an article I was working on for a leading contributor to the field of technical communication. I think you may have viewed this as self-promotion because of external links I provided to the two books Dr. Hughes has published. I apologize if that is not allowed - I did try to find a link to the book in the publisher's library first.

Dr. Hughes has contributed a large body of work to our field, most of which can be accessed for free on his blog and on UXMatters. I think this makes him a notable person in our field. Wikipedia already contains an article about Technical Writing. An article about Dr. Hughes would give readers access to a large body of work related to technical writing - for free.

Please review his blog and his contributions to UXMatters.com and reconsider your deletion.

Regards, Miranda Bennett —Preceding unsigned comment added by Enikuo (talkcontribs) 18:15, 19 May 2010 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but the page was deleted because it was advertising. Phrases such as "a visionary in the field of technical communication" don't really belong in a neutrally written encyclopedia. I would encourage you to read our info on writing your first article and to write a draft in your userspace (something like User:Enikuo/Sandbox) where you can work on improving the article. TNXMan 18:38, 19 May 2010 (UTC)

Actually, I pulled those phrases from the pages linked under references. Although I do have a high opinion of Dr. Hughes, those were not my own words - I has just failed to quote them. I am disappointed, but thank you for your re-consideration anyway. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Enikuo (talkcontribs) 18:50, 19 May 2010 (UTC)

Wicked Wonka

Hello, this is Ratatosk. I will eat your goddamn face if you don't bring the article about my band back. We have played gigs across Asgard. We are very notable. Thanks, Ratatosk.TheWickedWonka (talk) 16:34, 21 May 2010 (UTC)

Well, thanks for the note. It would appear that your band is not notable according to our criteria. Please read our guide to writing your first article, as that may have info that can help you. TNXMan 16:36, 21 May 2010 (UTC)

Hi Tnxman307 - this is my first time attempting to write on wikipedia -

I love this site and have always wonder about how I can contribute. I have always wanted to put together what i've learned about leadership and personal development in a non biased way from books and training seminars I've attended. What are the rules to go about writing materials so that my material won't get deleted. If I would like to write an article about a company - Luxor CRM - which i noticed that you deleted last year - how would I make that possible again? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Iamain (talkcontribs) 23:20, 26 May 2010 (UTC)

Specifics of why jetNEXUS page was deleted?

Hi, it's been sometime now, however you deleted the jetNEXUS page and even though there was a reason given, I was hoping you would be able to message me back with a more detailed reason, as to why you felt the article was inappropriate, because I would like to attempt to publish a replacement. I've looked at the guidelines but would like further feedback if you could?

Kind regards Emilyjetnexus (talk) 13:32, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

The page was deleted because it did not indicate why the company was notable enough to warrant an article. The company must have received significant coverage in independent reliable sources before it can have an article on Wikipedia. I would suggest reading our guide to writing your first article, as that may assist you in the future. TNXMan 13:56, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

NCRI

Just to give you a heads up about where I saw the linkage ...

The NCRI Informatics Initiative comes out of [www.cancerinformatics.org.uk/index.html here]. The WHOIS for the IP that was autoblocked resolved to the same place. With so few edits from Jnm, it looked like there might have been a link ... but I'm ok with the action. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 14:55, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for reviewing the situation. I lifted the autoblock because it looked like someone who edited from work and got caught up in the collateral. Of course if they were editing NCRI or related articles, that would be a different story. If there's anything else, definitely let me know. Cheers!- TNXMan 15:00, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

I work with the RIAA (i was the user RIAAcertification) and i was told by my boss to edit the pages. we lost the info about Bon Jovi and can not get it back. Here's the thing. Editors are highly discouraged from editing where they have a conflict of interest. Furthermore, usernames that represent a company or organization are not allowed. Also, operating more than one account is not allowed (as your post above seems to indicate multiple accounts). Now, if you can agree to these ground rules, and you can agree to tone down the shouting, maybe I can help you out. TNXMan 20:15, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

RIAA

I had a new account DRRAhimian and i was going to move everything to that account but i forgot to put a e-mail and i forgot my password 'cause i was busy. I am going to use my sons account because he does not use it anymore. I did not know that the caps lock was i was using them and i forgto to turn them off sorry about that but i my boss wants to knpw why we can not edit anything--Bonjovi332 (talk) 00:09, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

Mainly because Wikipedia discourages people from editing where they have a conflict of interest. For example, one of your edit summaries read " aam with the RIAA and we change articals about the RIAA and mmy job is to change articals about the RIAA certification". It is detrimental to a neutrally written encyclopedia if people edit articles about companies for whom they work, or products which they sell, or concepts they are marketing. I would definitely encourage you to read our guide on what to do when you have a conflict of interest. TNXMan 02:31, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

thank you for understanding but is there any way we can make like a note ro something like that to tell people about what he has but not post it how i did it.--Bonjovi332 (talk) 04:10, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

You can post the material on the article's talk page, where other editors can review the information to determine if it should be included in the article. TNXMan 11:57, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

Thank you--Bonjovi332 (talk) 13:39, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

Hey. Don't suppose there's a link to how to nom a page for deletion when it's not the first time? Thanks SmokingNewton (talk) 20:57, 4 June 2010 (UTC) Found it SmokingNewton (talk) 20:57, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

Definitely MG.

No question about it. "Good Vibrations Guy" would have resulted in an immediate block as far as I would have been concerned; he has a tendency to name some of his socks after oldies singles. He would have then used that primary account to create at least four more socks had he not been caught. If that conversation I had with the person who claimed to be his mom over on Myfonts.com has a shred of truth, I honestly feel for the woman. She has her hands full with her son, no question about it. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 01:27, 5 June 2010 (UTC)

MBM & MF

I thought it was the otherway around. Mister Flash being a sock of MidnightBlueMan. -- GoodDay (talk) 15:18, 8 June 2010 (UTC)

I marked it that way as MF is the older account (7-2008 vs. 9-2008). As to the question you asked at SPI, I don't think they are related to GeorgieGibbons, as the checkuser results would have turned up something like that (and Luke would have mentioned it in his report). Just my two cents though. Cheers! TNXMan 15:27, 8 June 2010 (UTC)
I suspect the MF/MBM fellow has a third account too. However, I'll keep suspicion under raps, for the time being. Sorry about the boo boo, I thought MBM was the older account. GoodDay (talk) 15:30, 8 June 2010 (UTC)
Well, remember that if there was a third account, checkuser would have turned it up. If you have strong evidence, it's better to list it on the casepage now, as the checkuser cannot be performed on stale accounts. TNXMan 15:35, 8 June 2010 (UTC)
Nay! I'll keep my suspicions to myself. GoodDay (talk) 15:57, 8 June 2010 (UTC)

Rockburn deleted

First of all, I have already read the common reasons for deletion and am unhappy with the action, still.

You recently deleted my addition for a band named Rockburn. Claiming it was self promotion and not for a purpose. The purpose was to tell people about the band. Which is what every other wiki band page is for.

It took me 2 days to finally get that page up and you just deleted it without a thought...?

Wasting my hard work for what?

Advise then, what would prevent Rockburn's wiki page from being deleted if I were to produce a second page.

Also, before you say they were not notable enough, they have been in several newspapers, radio interviews, and have hit America BEFORE being big in the UK by being used in a hit US tv drama, Burn Notice. I could rhyme off about 20 different references and notable areas of information before delving beneath the surface.

fwneillyFwneilly (talk) 22:27, 8 June 2010 (UTC)

The page was deleted because it was written as a blatant advertisement for the band. Wikipedia is a neutrally written encyclopedia, not a promotional vehicle for bands, companies, or products. I would encourage you to read our guide to writing your first article and writing a draft article in your userspace (something like User:Fwneilly/Sandbox), where you can work on improving the article before moving it to the mainspace. Questions regarding the proper course of inclusion of a radio show (GEEKTIME!)

Hi - I'm not sure I understand what is required for notability can you please advise?

The page for GEEKTIME! has been recommended for deletion, yet pages exist for other, less popular (although I recognize popularity is NOT the same as being acceptable content for wikipedia) shows such as:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Greg_Fitzsimmons_Show

Should the page for GEEKTIME! not exist or should a page be created regarding it's host (Ralph Cirella) or should the page simply be listed in the article on other Howard 100 and Howard 101 programming?

I am new to wikipedia and created the page when I was searching for which episode of the radio show had particular guests (and could not find it). I am not affiliated in any way with Sirius or the program and added the content because I saw similar pages for things (in my estimation) of similar notability.

Thank you in advance for your expertise -

Best regards, E

ElvisOfDallas (talk) 00:09, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

Well, notability on Wikipedia is defined by significant coverage of the subject in independent third-party reliable sources. I couldn't find any coverage of the show that would demonstrate notability (you can read Wikipedia's notability guide here). I think the best idea, at the moment, is to include a brief description of the show on Howard 100 and Howard 101. There's no reason the page cannot be re-created later if and when the show receives significant coverage in other sources. I hope this helps and if you have further questions, please let me know. TNXMan 02:56, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

Hi - that makes sense. Can you explain how this is different from the Greg Fitzsimmons Show (link above)? There are no true "external" references for that either.

Please advise - Thanks again!

ElvisOfDallas (talk) 03:19, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

If that page has the same issues, you can definitely jump in and fix it up. Anything that is not reliable sourced can be removed and you can add a {{unreferenced}} to the top of the page to alert other editors to the issue. TNXMan 16:27, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

Deletion of a lot of Content at Colligo_Contributor

Hi Tnxman307,

I wanted to ask about the deletion of a ton of content at the Colligo contributor page. I think you labelled this as spam and removed the majority of content on the page then suspended my account "colligo". That's why I'm now posting under my IP address.

A couple of quick things. Yes, I am the CEO of colligo and did an update to the article. I did it openly under the colligo ID which is used rarely to make changes to the article. Occasionally we will make minor changes to correct misinformation (as you can see in the change I made). It is the duty of the company to police misinformation on wikipedia and elsewhere, but I assure you we are not spammers, nor do we intend to provide misinformation or post "advertisements" on Wikipedia. We respect the spirit of posting from a neutral point of view.

The page was actually started in 2007 and went through quite a bit of back and forth before it was finally accepted. Actually, the sections you deleted were accepted in 2007 after much debate. As far as I can tell, the changes made over the last few years were merely additions to the same type of information originally accepted (features and capabilities of the product, press articles etc.). There was very littl hyperbole (if any) in the posting.

Originally the debate centred around whether the page was actually "neutral" and "notable". Some reviewers argued for it and some against. There were some concerns raised that some of the original content was contributed by the company itself. In the end the page was kept (as you can see) as the consensus was that, although the company had contributed, the material was factually accurate and presented from a neutral point of view, so that was OK.

I can provide many examples of pages that are structured similarly. In fact, the model page that was used for the article was http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Groove. The sections in this article are very similar to the ones posted on the Colligo Contributor article (which are now deleted).

Tnxman307, I'd like to appeal to you to put the material back up on the page and reinstate my account. As you can see, I don't post often and rarely make changes to the Contributor page. I understand that you and your colleagues at wikipedia are trying to keep it as a neutral and authoritative source of unbiased information. I applaud this! I am hoping that upon review, you will see that the changes made to the article were not biased or "spammy", simply statements of fact.

Thank you,

Barry —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.77.70.92 (talk) 12:19, 28 May 2010 (UTC)

Also, in considering my account for deletion, please note that I posted elsewhere, including creating the page on Black Hen Music, a music label with which I have no affliation.

Thanks for your consideration.

Barry

Just wondering if you saw this. I know you are busy, so don't mean to bug you. Thanks. 76.77.70.92 (talk) 21:12, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

I've been really polite and you've answered several other questions since I've posted this. Maybe I don't understand the protocol, maybe you are the wrong person to talk to, or maybe it's something else. If you could please answer me, I would very much appreciate it. Thanks. 76.77.70.92 (talk) 17:39, 8 June 2010 (UTC)

First of all, let me apologize to you for not getting back to you sooner. I got back from vacation right around the time you posted your question and I've missed your last messages. I reviewed the Colligo article and the material that was removed. The material I removed was not supported by reliable sources. All of the material in Wikipedia must be sourced to independent third-party (not a primary source) coverage. While the material was written neutrally, it appeared to be original research. I hope this starts to answer your questions. Please feel free to ask any other questions you may have (and smack me with a trout if I don't answer!). TNXMan 18:14, 8 June 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for your considered answer. All of the material in the article can be sourced from reliable, third party sources. If one of our fans goes through and provides citations, would that be acceptable to you? 76.77.70.92 (talk) 14:27, 9 June 2010 (UTC) Oh, by the way, would you consider reinstating my account? 76.77.70.92 (talk) 14:29, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

You can definitely re-add the material with citations to independent reliable sources. I'll peek in from time to time to make sure it's all going well. However, the account can't be unblocked, as it is a company name, which is a violation of our username policy. You can certainly register a new account, as long as it represents one person. TNXMan 15:15, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

One last thing... can the "warning" at the top of the page be removed now? 76.77.70.92 (talk) 16:19, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

I've removed the tag, but I've put another in it's place indicating there are external links, but no footnotes. TNXMan 16:30, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

Thanks 76.77.70.92 (talk) 00:54, 11 June 2010 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but the page was deleted because it was an advertisement, which Wikipedia does not allow. Please note that Wikipedia is a neutrally written encyclopedia. I would encourage you to read our guide to writing your first article and our guidelines about conflict of interest, which highly discourages people from editing where they have a stake in the subject. Finally, I would also ask that you change your username, as it appears to be a violation of our username policy. TNXMan 11:47, 11 June 2010 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but the page really was an advertisement. It read like a brochure for the company. Please read our guide to writing your first article, as that may help you. Sir,

I am concerned over the repeated personal attacks that Nineteen Nightmares (talk) has made against myself and others, in addition to ignoring consensus. What should I do about this, because I am concerned that he will resume the same pattern as soon as the 24-hour block expires.

Examples of personal attacks are:

  • Labeling a section I commented in (after the fact) as "Lies and Skullduggery", diff here,
  • Stating at ANI - Don Martin (public affairs) "FYI, GregJackP is a liar..." at diff here,
  • Calling the subject of the article "its egotistical owner" at diff here and was warned by an Admin diff here

Examples of disruption and ignoring consensus are:

  • Repeatedly dumping his talk page material on an AfD discussion page, diff here, which caused the same Admin to warn him on his talk page diff here

Previous similar behavior was documented at Archive 610.

What should I do about this - I'm at a loss. Thanks, GregJackP (talk) 02:13, 12 June 2010 (UTC)

Have you seen this?

Apparently edited by one user, and a vandal tagged a user as one. mechamind90 02:57, 12 June 2010 (UTC)

Hi there. I must have been distracted. I would suggest that the name in fact reads as "fuck you", and 88 is standard code for "heil hitler". The two aspects together seemed to me to be adequate reason to block, but as I forgot to do so I am happy, to avoid argument, yo wait for his edits. If any. --Anthony.bradbury"talk" 16:47, 13 June 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for reconsidering. I think waiting is the best idea, as we don't lose anything if they never edit. Cheers! TNXMan 16:56, 13 June 2010 (UTC)

Deletion of American Income Life

I have a question as to why you deleted the page 'American Income Life'. I used outside sources other than websites created by AIL, thus staying neutral. I also introduced the spam topic in the article, setting the facts straight, but also being upfront and honest about a negative issue. If you have any suggestions for what I can do to improve the article and thus, making you reverse your deletion, I would greatly appreciate it. I believe it is important for the facts and history of this company be represented on Wikipedia. This will allow potential Agents to get a good feel of the company from a reliable source. Thanks for you help and understanding. Jaimejones87 (talk) 16:15, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but the page did not indicate why the company was notable enough to warrant an article. I would definitely suggest writing a draft in your userspace (something like User:Jaimejones87/Sandbox) where you can work on improving the article before moving it to the mainspace. You may also find this guide useful. If you have questions as you write your draft, just let me know. TNXMan 16:23, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

I included four different articles as sources as to why the company was notable. It's owned by Torchmark which is on the New York Stock Exchange. I included this information in the article. As one of the sources says that I used, AIL is a huge company, employing thousands of people. But it is also actively hiring, so a Wikipedia page is useful for potential employers. I had orginially included more about the workforce, but thought that read too much like an advertisement. How do you suggest I make the page more notable? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jaimejones87 (talkcontribs) 16:33, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Gabi Hernandez

Hi Tnxman307, thanks for moving the case to the right place and sorry for messing that up. I just wanted to check, was I right to remove the accused's comments here, that were put in the wrong place? I noticed them and asked them to put them in the right place, and they have edited since then, but they haven't readded their comments, so I was wondering if I should readd them myself? I'm not really familiar with SPIs, as you can probably tell!--BelovedFreak 00:01, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

I would readd the comments under the appropriate section ("comments from the accused", I think?). That way the reviewing admin/CU will have more evidence to weigh. If you have any questions, just let me know. Thanks! TNXMan 13:09, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

Insertion of Sections into Hospital Articles

Hi Tnxman307! Noticed that you removed the section that I had added to Cedars-Sinai hospital for specialty care centers, which seems consistent with a myriad of other hospital articles here on Wikipedia including http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beth_Israel_Deaconess_Medical_Center and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Children%27s_Hospital_Boston (among many others). Could you please let me know why these are allowed to stand on these articles but not on this particular one? I'm still trying to learn the ropes here, so bear with me.  :) Also weasel words... Could you please give me some examples of where these are in the Cedars-Sinai article? Thanks so much for any assistance! Most appreciated.

It looks like you've done a good job of fixing up the article. I've removed the tags. As for the other articles, I've gone through and removed a lot of unsourced material. Any information on Wikipedia should be reliably sourced (of which you seem to have a good grasp) so it can be accurate. If you have any questions, please let me know. Hi. I noticed that you deleted all the information about local newspapers from this page. I read what was deleted and it was clearly written like an advertisement. However I'm wondering whether there's a place for a local media section in the article at all. I think it would be useful and encyclopedic to have a list of local news outlets on there, in case someone were looking for news about the town. What are your thoughts on this? There can definitely be a section on the local media. However, any listings would need to be reliably sourced, or better yet, linked to an existing Wikipedia article. If you have questions about how to do either, just let me know. TNXMan 14:57, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

CSD example

Hi there, please can you restore my User:BigDom/CSDexample that you deleted earlier? It only had a speedy tag on it as it is being used as part of a question at a current RFA and wasn't really supposed to be deleted. Cheers, BigDom 16:45, 19 June 2010 (UTC) P.S. this has already happened today, although for some reason the last couple of times I've used this example there's been no problem.

Lol.  restored. I've also added |nocat=true to prevent this happening again! — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 17:01, 19 June 2010 (UTC)

DYK images

Hi Tnxman,

You speedily deleted two DYK tags (File:Elena Myers after winning Race 1 Round 1 of 2010 AMA Pro Supersport Championship cropped.jpg and File:Natalka-Poltavka (1936).jpg). Even if DYK images are on Commons they are tagged locally, like the Featured Picture process. I don't want to give the appearance of wheel warring, so could you restore the DYK tags on these images? Shubinator (talk) 21:53, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

I think I've done so. If I've made any mistakes, feel free to fix them and let me know for future reference. Just so I know, featured pictures that are on Commons also have a description page here? (Also, if I've made a mistake like this, feel free to fix it without worrying about wheel-war complaints. Just let me know what happened so I can avoid it in the future). Cheers! TNXMan 02:14, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
Ouch, my bad: those images have been deleted from Commons. I'll go and delete them again...I deserve a trout. But yeah, featured pictures also have a Featured Picture tag here on en.wiki even if the image itself is on Commons. See File:P1160778 Melitaea athalia.jpg for an example (click on the "Edit" link to see what's actually on en.wiki). Shubinator (talk) 02:54, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

templates on Suhas Gopinath

Hi, I notice you have added templates to this article Suhas Gopinath and I was looking to address the specific issues you have and remove the templates, if you get chance would you please comment as to your specific issues so that I can address them aand look to remove the templates, thanks. Off2riorob (talk) 13:24, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

I'm concerned with the tone of the article, specifically the weight given to the awards received (I understand how awards contribute to notability, but listing every single award received is too much) and the paragraph about the Young Leader award (it feels like the list of other names there is extraneous). Overall, it feels like a fluff piece. I hope I've answered your questions, but if you have any questions, please let me know. TNXMan 13:46, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for commenting. It is a bit fluffy. Yes I thought about the list of other names that have won the young global award but I also feel I had learnt something about the award by being told those names , but I do agree they are northing to do with him really, and the award, I will remove the weakest of the awards or the less notable. Off2riorob (talk) 15:21, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

I have trimmed the weaker stuff and removed about fourty percent of the content, and tweaked the wordings. I don't think there are any issues left with the article, please let me know if you still have any issues with the remaining content, thanks. Off2riorob (talk) 15:57, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

It looks very good. Thank you for assisting with the cleanup. I've seen you around and you do some pretty solid work. TNXMan 16:14, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

Deletion of Waves:Cultural Festival

I do not understand why this page is being repeatedly deleted despite the fact that there are literally thousands of pages in Wikipedia which are blatantly advertising in nature; and this page as not.

In fact, I have added all necessary references justifying every statement made in the page. I took special care to make it encyclopedic as it should be.

I would be grateful if you kindly reply with the reasons for your action.

I'm sorry, but phrases like "has grown into a unique showcase of young talent besides being a favorite of the connoisseur eager to sample a taste of BITS's unique student culture." and "Besides the sheer variety on offer, the fact that stalwarts like Kishore Namit Kapoor, Tarla Dalal, Taj Resorts and many others have conducted them in the past make them all the more exciting." really don't have a place in a neutrally written encyclopedia. I would encourage you to read our information on advertising and how to write your first article. TNXMan 13:56, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

Your university page is in conformance to the prevalent style of stating facts concerned with architecture, and history of your alma mater.

On the other hand, while we believe in being encyclopaedic in our content, encourage our readers to revel in the

culture and events that we have developed, not in sublime representations of " three-story Tudor-Gothic structure

whose turrets were modeled after the Xavier Family Castle in Navarre, Spain".

Although you come from a seemingly progressive institution, your rigid principles and narrow-minded demographic

outlook seems to constrain you from looking at the larger picture. We at BITS, would like to encourage you to look

at the world outside your "hyperbolic paraboloid"s and realise that the trends that define an educational

institution, especially in India, are more inclined towards public interaction and a syncretic build up of community

values.

It saddens us rather, that most of the content that you took the trouble to delete has been understated to a degree

that would help assuage the inferiority complexes of other international institutions. Exempli gratia, we did not

mention our TED conferences and their unparalleled degrees of success, we did not gloat about having constructed

India's first humanoid robot, which has gone on to win acclaim on International forums, we would not like to brag

about the number of Alumni that have gone on to become enterpreneurs, or scientists and dignitaries of a reputation

that alone, could cast a school for gifted children into shadow.

It matters not that you truncated most of our content in a fashion calculated to startle most, probably you did not

know any better. However, we urge you to visit India sometime, and if not, at least read up on other Indian

institutions, it will surely broaden your outlook.

Namaste. the people of BITS. 115.113.57.141 (talk) 18:26, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but the amount of unsourced material and peacock terms present in these articles is/was staggering. For example, look at this diff. None of this material was reliably sourced. Instead of using independent third-party sources, all of the links pointed back to BITS. Furthermore, material like "Students at this scenic campus get to enjoy a pleasant weather all-year long while enjoying the benefits of top-quality education. Also, being in Goa there are always a number of beaches to go to bring the stress levels down." is not encyclopedic.
Finally, it is true that I went to Xavier University. However, I have no prejudice/preference for Xavier on Wikipedia, as I strive to maintain neutrality. If Xavier's article needs improvement, by all means, feel free to do so. However, please note that the state of one article does not affect another. Thank you. TNXMan 18:56, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

Hi Tnxman307.

i was working on creating a page for my employer last week and it was deleted due to copyright reasons. i understand why it was deleted and what i have to change, but i wanted to see if i could recover the original draft so that i could keep some of what is okay for me to use, including all the links and titles, etc.. are you the right person to contact regarding this? if not can you please let me know who i should ask about this?

thank you. nschilit —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nschilit (talkcontribs) 15:11, 22 June 2010 (UTC)

Lady Vanessa

Hiya. I'm curious about Lady Vanessa (talk · contribs) - they joined just a few hours ago, and made 9 contribs, none of which were vandalism; 4 to their user page (which seem OK), and then [5] [6] [7] - all of which seem well-intentioned.

They then made an edit to here, which of course I cannot see, you suppressed the comment and the content.

You issued a warning for "Personal attacks on user Page" at 20:51, 22 June 2010 saying that Continued comments of this nature could result in a block" - all of which is fair enough.

However, less than one minute later, you blocked the user, as "vandalism only"[8]

I can only imagine that it was something truly horriffic, but even then, it was not a 'vandalism only' account. I appreciate that you may be unable to tell me the details, but...could you please clarify a little? Thank you.  Chzz  ►  02:00, 23 June 2010 (UTC)

Just to clarify for the record, it was User:Maedin that suppressed it [9]. And someone else must've oversighted. -- œ 02:48, 23 June 2010 (UTC)
Well, without going into too much detail, there is apparently a Youtube video about Durova. This user copy/pasted the Youtube comments section (with some truly vile language) on to Durova's talk page with some further comments of her own, which led to a report to AIV and my block. I hope this clarifies the situation, but if you have other questions, please let me know. TNXMan 11:46, 23 June 2010 (UTC)

  2. Gets reported to AIV by User:Cirt
  3. Gets indefinitely blocked by User:Tnxman307
  4. Gets RevDel'd by User:Maedin (and apparently also oversighted by YET ANOTHER user)
  5. and finally User:Chzz requests a followup review.

Francis X. Becker page deleted in error

I am unsure why you would have deleted the Francis X. Becker page that I created on June 19, 2010. I worked hard on creating the page and provided a lengthy explaination of the historical/political/and newsworthy nature of this entry. I believe I explained in detail the groups that would find this page a high quality addition to Wikipedia, with the page linked to Frank J. Becker, a former Congressman from Long Island, NY. Hundreds of thousands of people in this COngressional district alone may find the page of interest, and due to the historical nature, or maybe trivial nature to some, Francis X. Becker is running for a seat held by his grandfather years ago. I respectfully ask that you revisit the page I created, review my explaination and the appeal to a broad audience, and relevance of the entry, and reconsider your decision to delete this page. Oic14me (talk) 23:41, 23 June 2010 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but the page did not indicate why the person was notable enough to warrant an article. Remember, running a campaign or being related to someone notable does not make you notable. I would encourage you to read our info on writing your first article and to write a draft in your userspace (something like User:Oic14me/Sandbox) where you can work on improving the article. Be sure to include independent reliable sources to support your facts. TNXMan 11:56, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

I respectfully disagree. I would think anything noteworthy that would likely be searched for in Wikipedia would be sufficient. I don't like your answer and disagree, but not much I can do about it. Oic14me (talk) 13:00, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

Wikipedia has a slightly different definition of notable, that is, the subject must have received significant coverage in independent third-party reliable sources. That is the basis of all our articles. TNXMan 13:05, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

You are wrong. Dan Halloran has his own page and is an elected official on the New York City Council, and I'd say, not notable with no broad appeal to anyone outside of the buroughs. Francis X. Becker is an eight time elected official in the Nassau County Legislature, from a historically, politically active family, and the leading contender in a a possible seat change in the 2010 elections. Becker is frequently quoted in Newsday on Long Island if you need some sort of media source to verify his existence. Significant coverage in Newsday over the last two decades. Oic14me (talk) 02:37, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

Like I mentioned above, your best bet is to write a draft in your userspace where you can work on improving the article. You can even ask another editor to review it for you before moving it to the mainspace. TNXMan 02:38, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

That makes no sense. Do a search in Newsday and easily find articles and photos of Mr. Becker. You make no sense. "My best bet.." My 'best bet' for what? Having someone reasonable 'ok' the page? I took the format of the page directly from other pages I have seen, and included as much, if not more than other references in Wikipedia. You have some other motive for deleting this, which I don't understand. Basically you have told me, "I won't let this page exist, but you will have a better chance with someone else." Oic14me (talk) 02:44, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

Actually, I said the article that was previously posted did not warrant inclusion. This doesn't the article is forbidden, forever and ever amen. You can try posting the article again, but I wanted to give you fair warning that it will probably be deleted if not substantially improved - thus my suggestion to try improving it in a sandbox environment. Remember, there's no deadline for Wikipedia articles. I hope this helps clarify my answer. TNXMan 02:53, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

You have not told me one improvement that I can make. Can you throw me a bone here on some suggested improvements from you? At least then I would have something to go on besides you delting it. Oic14me (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 03:05, 28 June 2010 (UTC).

Karpaz Gate Marina page deleted

Hello, I created the Karpaz Gate Marina page and you've deleted it. I do not understand why. I was giving information on a new development to help people who live in the area and visitors. The page had factual information too. It included relevant links and would be of use to people. Please can you explain why specifically it was deleted as I've seen other marina Wikipedia pages and went by what information they included. Thanks JennyPearce (talk) 14:33, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

The page was deleted because it was blatant advertising. Phrases like "allow guests to enjoy the magnitude of the local Karpaz Peninsula natural atmosphere together with the most comfortable, natural-friendly, architecture and design" have no place in a neutrally written encyclopedia. I would encourage you to read our guide to writing your first article and work on a draft in your userspace (something like User:JennyPearce/Sandbox), where you can work on improving your article before moving it to the mainspace. TNXMan 14:40, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for your response. I will rework and use the sandbox. —Preceding unsigned comment added by JennyPearce (talkcontribs) 14:45, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

But note, as you are the marina's "Senior PR Account Executive", you have a massive conflict of interest and are strongly advised not to create or edit an article on this subject. – ukexpat (talk) 15:14, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

What would you suggest then? Could we add info on the marina to the Karpaz Pensula page? —Preceding unsigned comment added by JennyPearce (talkcontribs) 15:37, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

The usual advice is that you don't do anything. If the marina is, or becomes, notable someone who does not have a COI will write an article about it eventually. There is no deadline. Alternatively, you could try WikiCompany - they don't have any notability or COI policies. – ukexpat (talk) 17:52, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

unjust deleting

Hi ,

I am Coralyne (journalist for a local french magazine (paris Fashion) and Pr and I have been trying to publish an article about a notable company which has been around for quiet a while now and has been working with notable personalities and companies as Sweet face by Jlo, No mas (the finisher bag), Daniella Kallmeyer (winner of project runway).Aniv Von Borche(notable fashion designer for Scotland fashion week) etc etc Creative Business house constructed its notability based on its unicity: no other company around the world provide the services they do.CBH let the designer be a designer and focuses on the creative part of the business. CBH has also sponsored several kids from developing countries by providing them with an education and sewing skills they would be able to use for the rest of their life. It goes without saying that Creative business house is not a company I am trying to advertise but a company which deserve a wikipedia article because of its notability in United states, in Europe, Asia and Africa.

I look forward for your cooperation and feedback.

Coralyne —Preceding unsigned comment added by Linebuilder (talkcontribs) 17:36, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

World Cup

<rant>I couldn't agree more, the standard of the refereeing has been generally appalling. Part of the problem rests with FIFA (well Blatter actually) sticking their collective heads in the sand about the benefits of technology to aid the officials, but also the gaping chasm of difference in the experience level of the various referees. I think one of the rules is that the refs have to come from all regions, and, frankly, some of the refs from the "developing football regions" just aren't up to it. I don't want to sound too jingoistic, but I don't think any of the refs from the English Premier League would put up with the play-acting that is rife among players from some countries. So, in short, FIFA needs to embrace new technology, even if it's only for goal-line issues, and they need to clamp down severely on players who dive, writhe, feign injury etc just to get a free kick and possibly yellow/red card opposing players.</rant> – ukexpat (talk) 19:42, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

I was certainly glad to read that FIFA will at least consider goal-line review. [10] Now, personally, it's taken some readjustment to consider 4-2 an offensive explosion, but I've realized how crucial each goal is. It's not like horseracing has been using photo finishes for a hundred years or anything (oh, wait). Well, it was a good run while it lasted, and it's safe to say the I'll be watching with interest in 2014. TNXMan 20:11, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
Well compared to basketball and gridiron football it may seem low scoring! But then again, cricket is high scoring compared to baseball, but that's a dicussion for another day... – ukexpat (talk) 21:53, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

I added the correct info to File:Meetmeontheleftcoastep.jpg. You can use that as an example for any other album covers you upload, as long as you also follow these directions. You must add a detailed fair use rationale for each use, as described on Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline, as well as the source of the work and copyright information. For an example fair use rationale, see here. For any other pictures, you must show they are free images (not copyrighted by anyone else) and have been released for use by the public. You falsely deleted my article European Federation of Immunological Societies, EFIS. Please help!

Dear administrator,

I am very much not amused to see that my article European Federation of Immunological Societies, EFIS got deleted without any further notice (by you I guess) although I followed all the instructions (such as posting [hangon], sending mails about my position etc. to permissions-en@wikimedia.org) and whatnot... I have no idea what else you want me to do to get that article online!!? It happened thrice now to me and my colleagues within the last 2 years that we try to get our non-profit organization EFIS a small note on Wiki and you guys just blindly delete it over and over again. This is a WASTE OF MY PRECIOUS TIME!!!

Once again:

I am the coordinator and webmaster (www.efis.org) of EFIS, a non-profit umbrella organization of 12,000 European Immunologists. The board of EFIS asked me to include an article on EFIS in your enzyclopedia, using the main info that can also be found on our homepage (I mean come on, do you want me to rephrase everything or what?). Since I am the original author of the contents on www.efis.org, I chose to extract the basic information from our site to post a short overview of EFIS on the Wikipedia page.

I asked in my mail and my talk page please NOT to delete the article for all the mentioned reasons. Our homepage (www.efis.org) is copyrighted, yes, but after all the copyright holders are the legal representatives of EFIS, including me, I am the author of all contents...

Could you PLEASE be so kind and tell me what else I need to do when I try to post an article on EFIS for the 4th time, in order not to get deleted again!? Go to the website www.efis.org to doublecheck that what I wrote is correct or call me on my cell if you wish.

Thank you Astrid Hahner EFIS coordinator

First of all, let me say that if you have a conflict of interest with a subject or organization, you are highly discouraged from creating/editing an article about the subject. Wikipedia is a neutrally written encyclopedia of notable information, and conflicts of interest detract from that. I would encourage you read our information on writing your first article and write a draft article in your userspace (something like User:Astrid Hahner/Sandbox) where you can work on improving it before moving it to the mainspace. TNXMan 13:39, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

thank you

Thank you for your unblock disposition of Brucejenner. Please understand that I am not out to make trouble but am shocked that this user has been allowed to use his username for so long while committing mayhem. Suomi Finland 2009 (talk) 15:28, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

I understand your concern. However, the best place to raise that discussion is either WP:BN (where the bureacrats who can perform renames can comment) or WP:ANI (to get broad admin input). If you have questions as you go, definitely let me know. TNXMan 15:31, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

Hello

why did you delete my page? I find that LaShawn Swanson is an interesting person. :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Doglover979 (talkcontribs) 15:05, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

Interesting though he may be, the article didn't indicate why he is notable enough to warrant inclusion in an encyclopedia. You may want to read this guide to writing your first article. TNXMan 15:07, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

thank you

Thank you for the Chris Benoit information. So that was a pure coincidence Wikipedia vandalism? Like if someone inserted, "on July 3, 2010, there was a huge earthquake in Timor Leste" and then the earthquake happened? Suomi Finland 2009 (talk) 15:26, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

It appears so. I guess, statistically, with all of the vandalism that we see, it was only a matter of time before something like that happened. Compare that, though, with all the vandalism that doesn't come true. TNXMan 15:28, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

This seems to be all in order. Were you planning on deleting it? I figured we probably should archive it for future reference. NW (Talk) 15:06, 4 July 2010 (UTC)

There was a request from Spartaz for a deletion. Since there seemed to be privacy issues involved (the user wanted a clean start), I thought deletion was a legitimate option. It's not really urgent though, so if we wanted to get opinions from the other people that posted, that's fine too. Also, it's going to take a me a while to get used to those new templates. They seem much simpler though! TNXMan 15:10, 4 July 2010 (UTC)
Well, I wouldn't really mind if the page was deleted; it's your call. And the new template makes me stumble every so often too! But thanks to MuZemike for writing it, I suppose; it looks like it will help a lot in the long run. Oh, and you might consider adding User:Tim Song/spihelper.js to your monobook/vector.js; I find it pretty useful for SPI-related work. NW (Talk) 15:27, 4 July 2010 (UTC)

Well I just archived it with the script and while I was doing so I realized I should've told you first. Just in case you haven't noticed, it was closed so I wasn't sure when you wanted the notification that you requested. I guess there is nothing wrong with this but I figured you might want to know that there will be two things to delete now based on my accidental archiving. DJB Foundation

I am working on updating the entry based on publications and records in the archives for this foundation. Can you please explain to me why you deleted the section on the intent and focus of the foundation's work? Thanks. Bburk (talk) 18:26, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

I removed the section because it was written like a brochure and contained original research. Statements like "...believed that real change must come from the roots of American society" must be independently and reliably sourced before they can be included. TNXMan 18:37, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

I will cite the source and place it back in then. Thanks --Bburk (talk) 18:58, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

Please also note the first concern I mentioned, which is the tone of the section - it was written like a brochure and should not be included when written as such. TNXMan 19:06, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

Rasmussen Reports

RE this edit: Thank you. I'm sure we'll sort it out gradually with hopefully some more editors' participation. ... Kenosis (talk) 02:26, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

No problem. Good luck with the dispute - political issues are never quietly put to rest, it seems. TNXMan 02:29, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
So true. Anyway I appreciated your keen awareness of WP:WRONG. Take care. ... Kenosis (talk) 02:40, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
Yes, hopefully you do not abandon the talk page now as you have implied so we can come to a consensus. Ed Wood's Wig (talk) 02:42, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

Requested action at Woohoo

You might remember previously that I requested protection at WP:RFPP for Woohoo following IP vandalism. Now a variation (90.51.233.208 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) of the original IP address (90.51.219.12 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) has begun the same vandalsim as seen here seen here. Is there nothing we can do about this? Regards,

Lil-unique1 (talk) 12:04, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

Sorry I was late getting back to you. It looks like EdJohnston has taken care of the protection. If there's anything else with which I can help, please let me know. TNXMan 18:19, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

Dominus Capital

Tnxman307:

I was wondering why you deleted the Dominus Capital, L.P. page. I had checked other similar pages like Fenway Partners and Harvest Partners and didn't see the difference. Happy to provide more references to other articles about Dominus Capital if that is helpful or expand on the insertion but was just putting something about the formation of the firm and there spinoff from Quad-C as a stating point. If you google Dominus Capital you will see many articles written about the firm and background. Happy to accept any guidance you may provide.

Dominus135 (talk) 15:31, 6 July 2010 (UTC) Dominus135

The page was deleted because it did not indicate why the company was notable enough to warrant an article. I would suggest reading our info on writing your first article and then writing a draft in your userspace (something like User:Dominus135/Sandbox). You can work on the article there before moving it to the mainspace. You should also read our info on conflict of interest. TNXMan 11:45, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Kimchi

Oh my goodness I can't believe you so obviously protected WP:The wrong version of the kimchi page. I mean, you clearly must just be working on behalf of your own POV, restoring the version that anyone slightly neutral could obviously see was unbelievably wrong. I mean, what happens if someone comes to WP looking for info on kimchi and finds this clearly erroneous drivel? All faith in Wikipedia could disappear!

The above is all sarcasm, in case it wasn't obvious. Thanks for the page protection...I hope we can work past all the name calling and get something vaguely resembling consensus. Qwyrxian (talk) 05:35, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Well, good luck. I hope things settle down as well. TNXMan 11:47, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Hello

Hello, I noticed you deleted my work on an article i wrote up on my experiences of working in the information services sector.

Are you able to let me know where I went wrong, as in where do I need to make changes? Thank you. Hollie —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hollie1985 (talkcontribs) 08:50, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but the article you posted was an advertisement for Network Si, which is not allowed. I would suggest you read our info on writing your first article and our guideline on conflict of interest, as that may assist you. TNXMan 11:47, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Sockpuppet investigation

I see that you were involved with this Sock ..it appears he/she is back. I am not sure how to go about this so i am asking you what to do ..the user in question is PucciniVivaldi as before editing vocal ranges using the french references... Anyways let me know whats up..you can reply here your on my watch list now! Moxy (talk) 14:36, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Looks like a good catch to me. The username is similar (Puccini composed La Traviata) (at least, I thought he did) and the edits are too. I've blocked them indefinitely. TNXMan 14:51, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
Wow your fast...and thank you Moxy (talk) 14:56, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
No problem. Let me know if something else comes up. TNXMan 14:59, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Deletion of BNE Music Group

Hello, I am a local writer and posted BNE's Bio, Discography and Flimography to WikiPedia. This page was deleted for G11:advertising. This page is not intended to advertise but to educate the public about this music group. What suggestions cane you make to clarify the article and re-submit it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Marxmenboston (talkcontribs) 16:03, 9 July 2010 (UTC)

I would suggest rewriting the article after reading our guide to writing your first article, our guide to what makes a group notable enough to warrant an article, and our guidelines about advertising. I would also suggest writing a draft in your userspace (something like User:Marxmenboston/Sandbox) so you can work on improving it before moving it to the mainspace. TNXMan 16:28, 9 July 2010 (UTC)

OK, will do. So are you saying because this group has not become "gold" selling status they are not notable enough to be talked about? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Marxmenboston (talkcontribs) 16:41, 9 July 2010 (UTC)

Permission to protect subpages

You may or may not remember, but last night you denied indefinite semi-protection of both of my sandboxes. I have contacted Courcelles, and they wanted to know if they could semi-protect my sandboxes. Courcelles told me to contact you about it, since you were the one that reviewed the request, after all. So, what do you say? Can Courcelles indefinitely semi-protect my sandboxes? The Utahraptor Talk/My mistakes; I mean, er, contributions 16:28, 9 July 2010 (UTC)

Courcelles is more than welcome to protect them. I would only point out the policy, which states that "User pages and subpages are protected at the user's request if there is evidence of vandalism or disruption" (emphasis mine) and "Semi-protection should not be used as a pre-emptive measure against vandalism that has not yet occurred". It was because of these two clauses that I declined the report at RFPP. However, the policy (in my opinion) is not so sacrosanct that another admin is forbidden from acting where I have not. Thus, if Courcelles would like to protect the pages for you, that's fine by me. I hope this helps! TNXMan 17:24, 9 July 2010 (UTC)

Grenada

Thank you, Tnxman307, for protecting the page. Per my observation here [11], the disruptions span several years, and are the work of a longterm vandal and POV merchant on several articles [12], so insistent and using so many IPs that one just gives up keeping track. JNW (talk) 14:36, 11 July 2010 (UTC)

You would think people would give up and do something more interesting after a while. Well, thanks for keeping an eye out. Cheers! TNXMan 14:39, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
