• Parveena Ahanger Cofounder and chairman of the Association of Parents of Disappeared Persons (APDP) and was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize in 2005.

• Khan Bahadur Aga Syed Hussain (1876-1944),conferred with the title of Khan Bahadur, the third in order of Nobility after Nawab Bahadur awarded by the then Viceroy and Governor General of British India Lord Irwin. Khan Bahadur Aga Syed Hussain was the first Matriculate of Kashmir (1894), first Settlement Commissioner of Ladakh, Governor of Kashmir (1927), Judge of the first High Court of Jammu and Kashmir, the only Muslim Minister during the Maharaja Rule in Jammu and Kashmir.
• Sheikh Abdullah (5 December 1905 – 8 September 1982), was the leader of the National Conference, and one of the most important political figures in the modern history of Jammu and Kashmir. He was the Prime Minister of the state of Jammu and Kashmir after its controversial accession to India in 1947.
