Hi, You recently reviewed the article K. Dinesh, which I have now added a BLPPROD tag to, as it appears to be about a living person and has no references. Thank you for your hard work in NPP.

--Matthew Thompson (alt) talk to me bro! 06:42, 29 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sure enough, the author has added references. It's on the companies website, so if this doesn't get any third party references it might get sent to AfD. I usually add BLPPROD quickly as it is really just a warning to the page author they must add references to avoid deletion. I find that {{Template:BLP unsourced}} doesn't properly get the message across that BLP's must have a reference. --Matthew Thompson (alt) talk to me bro! 07:01, 29 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

G10

When pages show up without any sources, claiming that "[XXXXXX] was charged with robbery, kidnapping, and homicide. [XXXXXX] was a sixteen year old divorcee, who had married at thirteen and divorced at fourteen.... [XXXXXX] was convicted...." please tag them as G10: Attack pages, rather than BLPPROD, so they will get speedily deleted. Thanks. Reaper Eternal (talk) 20:50, 30 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Attack? It appears to have been an actual event [1] with a few films based on it. [2] with a film starring Brad Pitt in a film loosely based on it [3]. Notability of the person is in question but the event was real.—Theda 21:12, 30 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry Theda, but G10 explicitly covers pages created and composed solely of unsourced negative biographical material. There was no neutral version to revert to, so I deleted the page. It does not matter if the page is based off a real-life event or even true. These pages are deleted per WP:BLPREMOVE (the reason for WP:G10) to prevent libel from entering. Reaper Eternal (talk) 13:53, 31 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, Reaper Eternal. I understand your rationale Reaper Eternal, normally I would do the same thing but I was prompted to look because it stirred something in my memory probably from some TV show and I do usually check anyway. I would then have deleted it as an unremarkable bio. Don't personally think she is notable though some might disagree, if had thought so I would have referenced it. I wouldn't have noticed it if I hadn't gotten the tasty cookie.—Theda 15:00, 31 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Why thank you very much :D --Joy [shallot] (talk) 08:10, 31 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Atlantic University College

Dear SwisterTwister:

You label my article titled Atlantic University College as an article of "Advertising". I disagree with your opinion, because Atlantic University College is only a "redirect" of the Wikipedia article previously approved and that was my creation called Atlantic College of Puerto Rico. What happens is that the college was renamed recently and I have done an "update" to the article.

I need your re-review and help in this situation, because I has worked very hard in this article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CarlosRomero1 (talkcontribs) 05:24, 1 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I just wanted to let you know that I have changed the deletion rationale for Acharya Bhagwant Shrimad Buddhisagar Suriswarji Maharaj Saheb. You tagged it with a BLP Prod. However, although the article does not explicitly say that the subject is no longer living, given that the article states he was born in 1874, it is a reasonable inference. Hence, BLP policy doesn't apply.

However, it was deleted after an AfD in July. Therefore, I have tagged it for deletion under G4. Singularity42 (talk) 22:00, 9 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, you marked this as "BLP unsourced", although (a) it said quite clearly that he was dead (OK it used "passed away", but pretty clearly!), and (b) it has a link to a news item about him on Ireland's national broadcasting service. PamD 23:01, 9 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

New Page Patrolling

Hi. Thank you for patrolling new pages. I'm just letting you know that you appear to have passed Brendan Kelly (entrepreneur) as OK for inclusion. I have tagged this page as A7 - an article that does not assert the notability or importance of its subject (person). Please read WP:NPP and WP:NOTABILITY and keep up the good work,! Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 06:01, 2 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

you seem to have also passed Roberto Henderson CADCII. But it's an unsourced BLP, and should have been so marked, and, in my opinion BLProdded, for I can find no references at all, not even in google. In addition, the name ofthe article would in any case need changing according to the MOS to Roberto Henderson
I see a number of other cases also where you have missed significant problems. You might do well to check the articles from your patrol log tin the last few days to see what others have thought of them. For example, Larry Bock (Biography), deleted as a copyvio--an article cited so irregularly and titled by someone who clearly does not know our practices, should arouse considerable suspicion. Mette Bach should at the least have been tagged for its very apparent problems; Ivailo Valeriev Iliev needed more than a BLP prod--the content of the article claims only he had an injury that prevented him for competing & I've tagged tit for speedy deletion. Toronto Dermatological Society. is so promotional and non0notable that it needed marking for deletion by one means or another--I used A7, but G11 would also apply. SGHS Rowing Club should have been marked at least for notability, but I went one step further and nominated it for AfD. Ditto with SnapComms, though I could have used speedy. Stone Sink Maintenance is a classic example of how-to, and has been prodded. And, just how Hartley primary school needs to be merged--unless there is something very exceptional, that's what we do with all primary schools.
I haver not gone into all this detail in order to be critical in a negative sense; rather, you do so much patrolling, and so much of it is good, that I think you would find it helpful to see some of the problems, & I hope you'll take it in the right spirit. In general, my experience is that very few articles contributed by first-time contributors do not need a tag for at least one problem. Thus, I find it helpful to look at the contributions history as well as the article history,as well as the article. Then, if it appears that the contributor may show possibilities of becoming a good editor, it is possible to help them more specifically than just the templates. I see you've been checking up to three articles a minute: if I'm doing more than one a minute, I find I'm going too quickly. DGG ( talk ) 04:47, 3 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I was not the author of this page, but was trying to view it as a reference after reading the wiki for its author at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jon_Gooch . Gooch is incredibly well known in the music community as the prolific drum and bass artist 'spor' as well as the house artist 'Feed Me'. Additionally, 'Feed Me's Big Adventure' is one of the very few LPs released under Mau5trap records, which is run by deadmau5, arguably the most well-known house artist today.

Long story short, anything Gooch himself releases is noteworthy and anything under mau5trap records is noteworthy so can you undo your patrol of that page? Thanks

A tool for you!

Hi SwisterTwister! I've just come across one of your edits (or that you have been patrolling new pages), and noticed that you might appreciate some help with references.

I case you're not aware, you might consider using this tool – it makes your life a whole heap easier, by filling in complete citation templates for your links. All you do is install the script:

// Add [[WP:Reflinks]] launcher in the toolbox on left
addOnloadHook(function () {
 addPortletLink(
  "p-tb", // toolbox portlet
  "http://toolserver.org/~dispenser/cgi-bin/webreflinks.py/" + wgPageName
   + "?client=script&citeweb=on&overwrite=&limit=30&lang=" + wgContentLanguage,
  "Reflinks" // link label
)});

onto Special:MyPage/skin.js, then paste the bare URL (without [...] brackets) between your <ref></ref> tabs, and you'll find a clickable link called Reflinks in your toolbox section of the page (probably in the left hand column). Then click that tool. It does all the rest of the work (provided that you remember to save the page! It doesn't work for everything (particularly often not for PDF documents), but for pretty much anything ending in "htm" or "html" (and with a title) it will do really, really well. So long! --Sp33dyphil ©© 05:19, 28 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Note

After some time on wikipedia I realized that it is important not only to revert but also warn (those who have vandalized before) - otherwise they can't get blocked for any reasonable period. Warning is easy - there is a standard subtituted template which can be copy/pasted from some notepad window or even typed in, like {{subst:uw-unsourced1‎}} ~~~~ or {{subst:uw-test2|Article name}} ~~~~ , and the keywords are intuitive: unsourced, test, vand, spam, npov, biog, error, etc. Cheers. Materialscientist (talk) 06:12, 16 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I cross with you at WP:RCP (good work, by the way) and see that you do warn, but not always, and just wanted to share my experience. I also skip warning when I "know" that there is little chance this IP will edit in a foreseeable future, but I try to warn any time I see that this IP did vandalize before. We don't know "who sees the warning", and it is often more than one person vandalizing from a school IP. Yet, we can't block that IP if not warned. I saw this edit and was wondering why you removed the 'unreferenced' tag. IMDb isn't considered a reliable source, but now the article is not 'unreferenced' so I've placed two maintenance templates on the article: 'refimprove' and 'unreliable sources'. Let me know if you think that's an issue. Cheers, Shearonink (talk) 05:59, 29 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"Quaker Universalist Fellowship" article editing

David,

I'm Mike Shell (Crippled Wolf), newly registered with Wikipedia, and a member of the steering committee of Quaker Universalist Fellowship.

We do not know who created or has been editing the article. However, we would like to make it both more accurate and more informative for readers.

A colleague of mine on the committee has been trying to expand and correct this stub article, and her edits keep being undone. Could you give me some guidance on the process? I have a lot of text and references which we could add, yet I don't want to go around in circles.

Thanks, Crippled Wolf (talk) 15:56, 4 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Quaker Universalist Fellowship article

Friend,

Thanks for your reply earlier today, informing me about COI issues. I understand and value the principle, though it's a bit troubling to discover that someone else has created an article about our organization which we ourselves are not allowed to correct.

I have left a message on the article's talk page asking for collaborative help.

Thanks again, Crippled Wolf (talk) 22:28, 4 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

User:Danceyman

Hey, thanks for the welcome, I have a friend on this called Danceyman, and he was banned indefinitely for vandalism, but he didn't do it, the reason I know he didn't do it, is because I did it, I was really drunk at the time, Danceyman is a non-alcoholic, and we hacked his account and vandalised axl rose and Nickelback, looking back on what I've done in the past when drunk made me give up alcohol, but Danceyman is paying the ultimate price, he did make an appeal, but it was turned down by a user Kuru, I've messaged Kuru, but he has ignored me for some reason, but continues to answer other people's queries which is quite frutrating, but I know you'll listen to me because you're a very friendly wikipedian, and I'm really sorry what I did to those pages, but I want to benefit wikipedia in a positive way now, and I'd really appreciate it if you let Danceyman back in, he's a really nice guy. I dont want to get in trouble but the last reference link on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception is a dead link. It is not verifiable and I have many Lutheran relatives (I am a devout Roman Catholic) who reject the idea of Immaculate Conception within their religious services.

Speedy deletion declined: User:NC4RSO

Hello SwisterTwister. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of User:NC4RSO, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: This is not promotion - it's a good-faith request for assistance; not in the right place, but our bureaucracy is hard to navigate. Thanks for the welcome.

Thanks for the welcome and the info on why the page was flagged. The page I am referencing is the one for Martha Ballard. The older version was better organized and more usable in an educational setting. I have used the old page in the past for some of my classes (in fact that is how I discovered the new version as I reference it at least twice a year). The newer version reads like it is an uploaded middle school book report. The older version had better citations and a greater diversity of information as well as links to other pages.

Thanks,

Re: "It does not matter who puts a speedy deletion on an article???"

I am new to the whole Wikipedia editing process, but something is wrong with this picture!!! (re: "It does not matter who puts a speedy deletion on an article???"). It appears that anyone can vandalize a work - with of without cause? I don't really care about the Henry Adams article, I am more concerned with the basic principle / practice.

Questions:

Can any Wikipedian, at any level, delete an article? &

Is there a process whereby an editor can appeal a decision to delete?

Thanks Mormonfaith101 (talk) 03:11, 4 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
