Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Rcolbert80 (talk | contribs) at 20:27, 10 February 2014. The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

Welcome. Please note that this page is NOT for challenging the outcome of deletion discussions or to address the pending deletion of any page.

Requests for undeletion is a process intended to assist users in restoring pages or files that were uncontroversially deleted via proposed deletion, under certain speedy deletion criteria (such as maintenance deletions or rejected Articles for creation drafts), or in "articles for deletion" debates with little or no participation other than the nominator. This page is also intended to serve as a central location to request that deleted content be userfied or emailed to you so the content can be improved upon prior to re-insertion into the mainspace, or used elsewhere (you may also make a request directly to one of the administrators listed here). This means that content deleted after discussion—at articles for deletion, categories for discussion, or miscellany for deletion among other deletion processes—may in some cases be provided to you, but such controversial page deletions will not be overturned through this process.

This page is only for requesting undeletion of articles or files which have already been deleted. If the article you are concerned about is still visible, but has a warning message (template) at the top, please do not post here, but follow the instructions on the template or on your talk page.

Note that requests for undeletion is not a replacement for deletion review. If you feel an administrator has erred in closing a deletion discussion or in applying a speedy deletion criterion, please contact them directly. If you discuss but are unable to resolve the issue on their talk page, it should be raised at Wikipedia:Deletion review, rather than here.

Instructions for special cases

Ali Pabrai

This Article is deleted while made few edits/updates/enhancement as per few references or sources from other websites. Unfortunately it was totally deleted. Please review this article again. Uday Ali Pabrai is an Indian-American entrepreneur based in Newport Beach, California, USA. He wrote few best selling books. (please check below links). Please check the following sources from other websites or old wiki sources. We have request you to republish at least the page was before the year 2013.

Not done - this Requests for Undeletion process is only for articles that were deleted uncontroversially, and does not apply to articles deleted after a deletion discussion. Since the article you are here about was deleted after a discussion took place at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ali Pabrai, it cannot be undeleted through this process. However, if you believe that the outcome of the discussion did not reflect the consensus of the participants, or that significant new information has come to light since the article was deleted, you may contact the administrator who closed the discussion, user Mike V (talk · contribs). After you do so, if your concerns are not addressed and you still seek undeletion, a request may be made at deletion review.
Furthermore, none of the sources listed above meet all three requirements of giving significant coverage, being reliable, and being independent of the subject. ~Amatulić (talk) 15:17, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Undeletion of Floors To Your Home article

Deleted for: Expired PROD, concern was: Advertising for nonnotable business. The article was a description of a 93 year old business similar to Home_Depot or Allied_Carpets, both of which have articles. Being a national business and one founded in 1921, notability cannot be grounds. It is a description, not an advertisement, citing individuals known to their city communities in their times, and relating how the business shifted with trends and developments in the industry. -50.195.132.94 (talk) 15:42, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Alan Questel

Reason to undelete the page Alan Questel

First and foremost, if the page was not written according to the neutrality spirit of Wikipedia, it can be edited to make it more informative and less promotional.

There needs to be a bit if history here to support the un-deletion of the page Alan Questel.

extended content
The Feldenkrais Method was developed by Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mosh%C3%A9_Feldenkrais) who is now deceased. It was Dr. Feldenkrais’ intention that his work be developed beyond the scope of what he did in his lifetime.

There are presently around 7000 practitioners of the Feldenkrais Method in the world today in 35 countries, but only a very small number of them (probably about 20) are in the position of training people to become practitioners and developing programs that continue and further the work of Dr. Feldenkrais.

Alan’s Wikipedia article was based on his contributions to the ongoing development of the Feldenkrais Method as one of the foremost experts worldwide, as a developer of programs that receive recognition worldwide (ie Pregnant Pauses with over 150 teachers in 21 countries), his published articles in several languages and his book, which is currently being translated into Spanish.

Alan’s career prior to the Feldenkrais Method was as an actor (past member of Actor’s Equity) and he worked with Paul Sills in Story Theatre and with Jerzy Grotowski and the Polish Theatre Laboratory in the US, France and Poland. When his page was active on Wikipedia he was listed and linked under “Living American Actors”

Another leading contributor of the method, Ruthy Alon, also had her page deleted. While it was not the most well written page, it is evidence of others who have continued to develop the work of Dr. Feldenkrais and create there own body of work gaining recognition worldwide. Ms. Alon’s page (upon being rewritten) deserves to be undeleted as well.

As mentioned above there are number of others who continue to develop the Feldenkrais Method and its varied applications and they too deserve to listed on Wikipedia too if they ever so desire. These are not simply practitioners of the method but a few who have gained worldwide recognition in their own right.

Done - as a contested proposed deletion, the article has been restored on request. I will notify user Alexbrn (talk), who proposed it, and who may choose to nominate it at WP:Articles for deletion, which would start a debate lasting seven days, to which you would be welcome to contribute. What is needed to establish Wikipedia:Notability is references that show "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." The present references are all from within the Feldenkrais system. JohnCD (talk) 17:40, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

MetaGer

Its an article about a german hosted meta search engine, not an advertising -18:34, 3 February 2014 (UTC)Bluimlilac (talk)

Not done. This was not deleted as advertising, but because it did not explain the importance or significance of the subject. To have a Wikipedia article would require references showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." to establish Wikipedia:Notability. The test is, have people not connected with the subject thought it important enough to write substantial content about? See also WP:Notability (summary) for how that is interpreted. If you think you can provide such references, contact the deleting administrator, user Alexf (talk); if you have already done that, you can apply at WP:Deletion review. Lion vs. Tiger

I just started the page last night, and some jerk deleted it on me already. I want to retrieve my saved material, and I will finish the page today. I realize it is incomplete, but I just started it last night. I will finish it today. -EasyTherePilgrim (talk) 18:35, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Does not appear to have had content other than an introductory sentence, and would be speedy-deletable as a clone/fork of the long-standing Tiger versus lion article. I'm not sure this is a good way to resolve your editorial dispute on that article. DMacks (talk) 19:02, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
EasyTherePilgrim, I could also advise User:Peridon that you called them a "jerk" if you would like? personal attacks of any kind are not usually a good way to request favours from others ES&L 19:13, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
A similar page Tiger versus lion already existed and it already covered the same content. I don't see why a duplicate is necessary. BigCat82 (talk) 19:18, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
This is the contents deleted by me: "Who would win in a fight, a lion or a tiger? This question has fascinated people since ancient times....and the debate still rages on today. Since these two cats don't naturally meet in the wild, the answer of who would win comes down to conjecture. History, fights in captivity, fights with other opponents in the wild, hunting skills, and the tail-of-the-tape are all evidence that need to be considered." I didn't know we already had an article on the subject (and didn't think it a particularly encyclopaedic subject). EasyTherePilgrim probably didn't know, either. Or didn't know that we don't have two articles on one subject, maybe. I've been called worse than that before, by the way. Probably get called worse again too. Peridon (talk) 20:08, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
EasyTherePilgrim had edited the existing page prior to starting this new one, and appeared to be not-succeeding in getting some preferred edit into it. I'm not making any call further than that. DMacks (talk) 20:19, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Not done. We do not need a WP:POV fork. The page should stay where it now is, as a redirect to the existing Tiger versus lion Any disagreement about the content of that should be settled by discussion on the talk page, or if necessary WP:Dispute resolution.  Not done. Wikipedia is not for promotion. If your business involves being paid to write articles, you should read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest and the Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide. Also, there is no indication that this group of Youtubers is anything like notable enough to have an Wikipedia article, which would require references showing significant coverage in reliable, independent secondary sources. Hardy Haberman

Hardy Haberman is a notable person and it would be useful to have an article specifically about him. I believe an article about him can easily meet notability requirements. I saw that the delete log indicated the deleted article did not meet those requirements but I'd be happy to work on it and correct any shortcomings; there are plenty of verifiable sources from which to draw information. -Steevithak (talk) 05:48, 4 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sydney Alliance

The Sydney Alliance is a partner of the Industrial Areas Foundation[1], the oldest and largest community organizing network in the world. It launched at Sydney Town Hall on 15 September 2011[2].

The Sydney Alliance uses community organizing to help make Sydney a better place for everyone to live. It is made up of over 52 diverse partner organisations[3], ranging from the Archdiocese of the Catholic Church to the Cancer Council of NSW, the Arab Council of NSW to UnitingCare [4], to the NSW Jewish Board of Deputies and the Nurses Union[5].

The Sydney Alliance has nine districts[6] across the suburbs of Sydney, where it brings together local parishoners, unionists and community leaders to identify and solve local problems. For instance, in 2011, the Liverpool-Fairfield district successfully campaigned for Medical drop off zones to be built outside 6 health centres[7], and in 2013 the St George-Sutherland district has been campaigning for a lift at Arncliffe Train Station[8]. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 27.33.28.11 (talk) 05:12, 7 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

BTW being available on Amazon merely indicates existence. They'll list almost anything so long as it's available on demand and they don't have to buy in a stock. outpsyjah

This psytrance project needs its wiki article undeleted so that it can be referenced in coordination with other projects from Australian artist Tom Vallance, who is responsible for numerous unsigned music projects -Tomahawk333 (talk) 17:36, 8 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Not done - this article has not been restored because it does not appear to meet our guidelines for inclusion of articles about music. In general, Wikipedia considers a topic to be notable if there exist multiple reliable sources of information on the topic, external to the subject itself. Articles concerning musicians or music groups will be deleted on sight if they are considered to be unambiguous advertising or promotion, or if they do not contain a credible assertion of the significance of the subject.
You would do best to start by making an article about Vallance, with references to significant coverage in reliable, independent secondary sources to show how he meets the WP:Notability standard of WP:MUSICBIO. Individual projects will also need to show their own WP:Notability. JohnCD (talk) 18:21, 8 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

An article on Tom Vallance http://western-riverina-arts.blogspot.com.au/2014/01/tom-vallance-rides-again.html, http://www.irrigator.com.au/story/199937/art-space-a-dream-for-artist/ (Australian artist) can be addressed in coordination with the outpsyjah article. The outpsyjah mixes comprise a saga, which is a notable feat in itself - also, they are not signed to any label and no revenue is being gained from the music, so to label this as advertising or promotion is to misinterpret the importance of outpsyjah's music — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tomahawk333 (talkcontribs) 18:36, 8 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I can link you to a number of external sources that reference the works of Tom Vallance ^^^ - if that information will be seen to legitimize the existence of this article.

Wikipedia is not for any kind of promotion, even of non-commercial enterprises - see Wikipedia is not here to tell the world about your noble cause. The inclusion criterion is called WP:Notability, and requires evidence of "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." Blogs, Twitter, Youtube, Soundcloud etc don't count as reliable, because anyone can post anything there. See WP:Notability (summary). The test is, have people not connected with the subject thought it important or significant enough to write substantial comment about? More detail at WP:MUSICBIO and WP:CREATIVE. Once other people have written about these projects, Wikipedia can summarise what they say, but an encyclopedia is not the place to announce new things.  Comment:: I see you have now re-created this and submitted it. I have added the name above, for anyone else interested. It looks better than the previously-deleted version, so no action required here. JohnCD (talk) 11:32, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Not done and will not be done This was a blatant copyright violation of the school's website and so cannot be undeleted and must not be recreated with copyright infringing content. Note also that, as is normally the case with such pages copying an organization's promotional material, the content was absolutely unsuitable for an encyclopedia article. Note that I have also deleted what I presume is your userpage, which also infringed on the school's copyrighted material.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 16:33, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
