Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion

Welcome. Please note that this page is NOT for challenging the outcome of deletion discussions or to address the pending deletion of any page.

Requests for undeletion is a process intended to assist users in restoring pages or files that were uncontroversially deleted via proposed deletion, under certain speedy deletion criteria (such as maintenance deletions or rejected Articles for creation drafts), or in "articles for deletion" debates with little or no participation other than the nominator. This page is also intended to serve as a central location to request that deleted content be userfied or emailed to you so the content can be improved upon prior to re-insertion into the mainspace, or used elsewhere (you may also make a request directly to one of the administrators listed here). This means that content deleted after discussion—at articles for deletion, categories for discussion, or miscellany for deletion among other deletion processes—may in some cases be provided to you, but such controversial page deletions will not be overturned through this process. Copyright violations and attack pages will not be provided at all.

This page is only for requesting undeletion of articles or files which have already been deleted. If the article you are concerned about is still visible, but has a warning message (template) at the top, please do not post here, but follow the instructions in the template or on your talk page.

Note that requests for undeletion is not a replacement for deletion review. If you feel an administrator has erred in closing a deletion discussion or in applying a speedy deletion criterion, please contact them directly. If you discuss but are unable to resolve the issue on their talk page, it should be raised at Wikipedia:Deletion review, rather than here.

Not done We allow wide latitude to what Wikipedia editors can do with their user pages, but so far you have very few contributions to the encyclopedia other than writing extensively about yourself. I also have concerns about the large number of family names you added to the infobox, because I'm fairly sure you didn't ask all of them if you could publicize their identities on a website. I can send you the deleted text via email if you wish, but you will have to re-create your user page as per our guidelines. Please pay close attention to the What may I not have in my user pages? section. WP:NOTSOCIALNETWORK is also applicable here. Finally, I deleted your request for deletion (the MfD you created) since that was the wrong venue to request undeletion. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 21:58, 26 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Not done Both the contents of the page and the history of your account suggest that the purpose of the page is to promote its subject, which is inconsistent with Wikipedia's policies. Also, there is no indication that the subject satisfies Wikipedia's notability guidelines. We normally allow a good deal more leeway in an "articles for creation" submission than in other pages, to allow a chance to improve the draft, but when after more than a year no improvement has been made, there is no good reason for allowing Wikipedia to continue to be used as a web host for a page which is unsuitable as an article, especially when the history of the account that created it strongly suggests that the purpose of the account is to use Wikipedia for promotion. Not done The page was an unambiguous attempt to use Wikipedia for advertising, and as such could have been speedily deleted immediately after creation. We normally allow a good deal more leeway in "articles for creation" submissions than in other pages, but when an editor has had a few days short of a year in which to improve a draft, and in that time made no attempt whatever to re-write it as a non-promotional page, and when that editor's editing history also suggests that he/she is here for the purpose of promotion, enough is enough. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 08:21, 28 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

That's a very harsh assessment under the circumstances, James. My goal was to differentiate a number of companies operating under the same name, Neptune Society, in the same industry. As my article included information about 4 companies named Neptune Society--all competitors--I'm having trouble seeing how my article was seen as promotional. I'm certainly not promoting all 4 competitors in the same article. I don't see why the fact that I have little time to devote to wikipedia contributions should count against me. Pparkk (talk)

Not done and will not be done This is one of a large number of attempts to use Wikipedia to host a somewhat promotional page about a person who does not satisfy Wikipedia's notability requirements. It has been repeatedly created under various titles, by a string of single-purpose accounts, very probably sockpuppets of a blocked editor. You have been attempting to use Wikipedia to host this page at least since 2007, and you have repeatedly had it made clear to you that the page is not suitable for Wikipedia. Please drop the attempt. Mehgan James

It says that the Mehgan James page was deleted because there is reason to believe that she is not a real person. Mehgan James is indeed a real person who's has been on 4 reality tv shows and 2 national commercials. she has a real fan base . this is not fair to her fans. who would like to know and learn information about her -50.200.126.4 (talk) 08:28, 28 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Note: The page was speedily-deleted under criterion A7. Pages deleted under that criterion are generally not undeleted because they require complete rewrites to be viable encyclopedia articles or because they violate our biographical or fair-use policies. That is not what an A7 speedy deletion implies, it implies that the article does not make a credible claim as to why the person is notable. Existence does not play a factor into it, and having a fanbase does not make one automatically notable. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 17:46, 28 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Not done - this Requests for Undeletion process is only for articles that were deleted uncontroversially, and does not apply to articles deleted after a deletion discussion. Since the article you are here about was deleted after a discussion took place at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mehgan James, it cannot be undeleted through this process. However, if you believe that the outcome of the discussion did not reflect the consensus of the participants, or that significant new information has come to light since the article was deleted, you may contact the administrator who closed the discussion, user FreeRangeFrog (talk · contribs). After you do so, if your concerns are not addressed and you still seek undeletion, a request may be made at deletion review. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 20:23, 28 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Ahsamkr. The AfC submission for this article was declined on 27 October, 2013 for the reason: "This submission's references do not adequately evidence the subject's notability—see the guidelines on the notability of people and the golden rule. Please improve the submission's referencing, so that the information is verifiable, and there is clear evidence of why the subject is notable and worthy of inclusion in an encyclopedia." Do you have a plan for how to fix this? Have you located any references that you could add to the article? EdJohnston (talk) 19:42, 28 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Not done - this article has not been restored because it does not appear to meet our guidelines for inclusion of articles about people. In general, Wikipedia considers a topic to be notable if there exist multiple reliable sources of information on the topic, external to the subject itself. Articles concerning people will be deleted on sight if they are considered to be unambiguous advertising or promotion, or if they do not contain a credible assertion of the significance of the subject. The article describes the subject as a 'practicing physician and a social personality.' EdJohnston (talk) 01:50, 29 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

What Was That or Suddenly Lost Summer

My guess is that the page was deleted for lack of any relevant information or details about the event. However, a rare radio spot for it and a poster for it have been found, allowing the article to be populated with some hard information. It was sponsored by Radio Station KSAN on January 31-February 1, 1976, it was "an acid-drenched flashback to the summer of love, featuring remembrances of those turned on days when all things were possible and little was probable; complete with interviews, un-released music, and horrifying shocks of recongnition." It also featured eastern mysticism and the saying "Turn on, tune in, and drop out!" -50.136.141.191 (talk) 01:24, 29 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • They're referring to an event held/sponsored by a radio station (see this poster) back in the 70s. I honestly have my doubts about its notability because there is little to nothing out there about it. No true mention in books, highbeam, or even basic hits beyond poster sales. The most I found was a picture of the poster here, but we can't use it as a RS because the event itself isn't mentioned and besides, it's one of those "anyone can edit" sort of sites. At most the event could be mentioned on the radio station's article, although I'd like to have some sort of certainty as to which KSAN it is since there are multiple KSANs and the station numbers don't exactly match up with the ones listed on the poster (95). I'm pretty sure that it's this one, though. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 10:35, 29 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Please, consider undeleting AdGear article

Please, consider reviving AdGear article - twice I have worked on this article about AdGear company and both times it was removed - It is quite a bit of work and will do my best to gather both information and relevant sources about the organization. Company is quite unique in its own space of ad technology platforms - for example they are the inventors of unique SiteRank based targeting algorithms for demand-side platforms... That being said I strongly believe they deserve a spot within wikipedia universe. Thank you, Ivan Roubtsov " button below -Hholod (talk) 12:46, 30 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Dead mans cove runners

Enter your reasoning here and then click the "Save page" button below -Thatusernametaken (talk) 03:31, 2 May 2014 (UTC) The page was deleted as I made a mistake in not preparing it in my sandbox first.[reply]

The Dead Mans Cove is about a group, not a formal club, of mostly men with the main purpose of fundraising and supporting charities. The charities include Oxfam, Kids Under Cover, Royal Children's Hospital ,Cottage By The Sea and RSPCA to name only a few. The group uses the DMC runners tag as a loose identifier of them rather than as their core business. With the charity organizations we support we register for events under the banner of DMC or Dead Mans Cover Runners but have no formal structure. If I could have the page back I will load it into the Sandbox and complete it rather than editing "live" and leaving an erroneous view of the group as a "sporting" club. The anonymity of the members in using nicknames is preserved. I was preparing the section on getting involved and supporting our charity partners when the page was taken down. in hind sight I should of completed the planning, and editing prior to publishing.

Not done - this article has not been restored because it does not appear to meet our guidelines for inclusion of articles about companies, organizations or groups. In general, Wikipedia considers a topic to be notable if there exist multiple reliable sources of information on the topic, external to the subject itself. Articles concerning companies or groups will be deleted on sight if they are considered to be unambiguous advertising or promotion, or if they do not contain a credible assertion of the significance of the subject.. RE: Art Spiegelman and my consistent removal from his page.

I would like to again ask that I be included in the article on Art Spiegelman, my friend and boyfriend from 1966-1996 or so. His most recent book, Co-Mix, shows, in his "Grain of Sand" comics, going down one of the "I's" in the title (may require a magnifying glass), "I love you, Ladybelle."

Please see my discussion with one of the editors on this matter. There are also many images of Art and myself on Facebook, on my page, some of which can be found by running a Google search for Art Spiegelman and Ladybelle Fiske.

He and I were very close and I was the closest thing he had to a wife till he met Françoise Mouly in 1975. He also did draw some of "MAUS" at Quarry Hill, my home in Vermont, in my little writing cabin in the mountains.

Many friends of ours would be able and willing to provide statements as to my importance to Art. I don't understand why it is so difficult to get my name mentioned. I helped Art and Françoise create "Top Drawer Rubber Stamp Company," and the images were made by friends of ours who lived at Quarry Hill. Laurence Mouly, Françoise's sister, lived with us in Vermont (it is Vermont's oldest commune-- see the Quarry Hill Creative Center page.

Quarry HIll and I were an important part of Art's life. I will soon publish a memoir of my life which mentions the relationship, though by no means is the book only about Art. I consider him a friend and an old lover, famous or not. I too am not unknown in my home state of Vermont. To me, he's just a friend I once knew, not God. Thanks, Ladybelle Fiske (Isabella Fiske McFarlin) Ladybelle Fiske (talk) 03:48, 2 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

See also Talk:Art Spiegelman#Removed digressive material. Ladybelle Fiske, did you read the policy page you were referred to there regarding no original research? The issue is not that anyone has said they don't believe you or discounted your relationship. It's that Wikipedia only properly covers material that is the subject of, and verifiable in, reliable published sources, giving such information due weight in proportion to the prominence of each viewpoint in those published, reliable sources.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 12:28, 2 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It promotes a technical approach that's worth documenting for the benefit of data protection. The page was deleted due to lack of its understanding and origin. Wikipedia is meant to educate and not enforce ignorance. Deleting a page that discusses of a technology with growing following is more of a sabotage rather than furthering any objective goal. Please restore the page for the thousands if not millions of users that can benefit from understanding the technology. Saying that something is popular (WP:ITSPOPULAR) or that it'd be useful (WP:USEFUL) are not good arguments to show notability. Only coverage in reliable sources independent of the subject can show notability. Now when it comes to why it was deleted in the first place, please assume good faith rather than making comments that insinuate that this was a deliberate sabotage. That will not help you when it comes to approaching people, as it puts people on the defensive and makes them less likely to want to help you. • Not done I deleted the page, but the problem here is that you edited the page to seem too much like an article and a personal webpage. As far as editing about your mother goes, I would highly recommend that you get someone to help you out with that to ensure that you understand notability policies but also deal with issues of WP:COI. Since you have an obvious conflict of interest here, it would be very easy for you to see notability where there might not be any. I don't mean this to sound harsh, but people do not have automatic notability because they exist or have existed. We would have to see where she's received coverage in reliable sources. Now as far as userpages go, I always recommend that people look at pages such as User:Yunshui, as it's a great example of how people can be very creative and have some information about themselves, but still fall within normal guidelines. All userpages must pertain to how you edit on Wikipedia. Some personal information is fine, but the page should not be written as if it is an article in the mainspace. Observation: The article didn't contain evidence that the subject was notable, and it was tagged as such for almost 8 years without improvement. It was deleted in accordance with WP:PROD, which, when tagged, allowed for at least a week for improvement to save it from deletion — but again, nothing was done. Now it's deleted, and suddenly its absence gets noticed? Will restoring it result in improvements, if none have been made in so many years? Will you make improvements if it is restored? ~Amatulić (talk) 03:24, 5 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • I have to kind of second this statement as well. I'm just a little concerned over the lack of attention the article received and I'll be honest, there are a lot of articles that get restored that never get the promised attention. I'm not really finding a lot when I search for sources either, so I think I'd like to see some sort of evidence that he passes notability guidelines. The thing to remember is that being known isn't the same as being notable per our guidelines, which are admittedly fairly strict. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 03:42, 5 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Not done because there is nothing to do. The article has never existed as anything but a redirect to Michael Glyn Brown which is not deleted, nor is it being considered for deletion. If you want to write an article about the actor, try WP:AFC to get started, or create an article like Michael G. Brown (actor). ~Amatulić (talk) 05:23, 5 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • On a side note, there are some issues with tone. It's not so promotional that I wouldn't restore it, but there are some phrases that come across as slightly promotional and will need to be cleaned up before submission to AfC again. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 07:35, 5 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Not done I looked at the article history and there isn't really anything to restore. It looks like someone created a page with a link to an outside website and that was about it. There's nothing there to restore that would even be remotely helpful to building a new entry. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 07:39, 5 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Not done There wasn't much content to restore and aside from the page being abandoned, the entry also has some big issues with promotional tone. You'd have to re-write the article from scratch and since the deleted history is comprised of four sentences with no sourcing, there is not really any point to restoring it. It would be better to start on a new entry entirely. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 07:41, 5 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

User:Douglas Nelson Turner

In RHaworth talk I see that the deletion was "uncontroversial". There was some redirect involved about my article for creation (Rotating Armature Alternator), that I had no part in.

I was using my page as a sandbox because I had read that actual sandboxes were automatically cleaned out after three days. I did not want to submit my article while I cleaned it. I was looking for a way to protect it while it was under construction.

Someone said my article was "patently" not ready for acceptance. I must be obvious that my article is not ready. If it is patent, then it should be easy to tell me exactly where to start! I know it not polished.

I have been asking for concrete help.

Please give me my name "page" back. Douglas Nelson Turner (talk) 09:25, 5 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You can find your contributions by looking at Special:Contributions/Douglas Nelson Turner (which you can see by clicking on the "Contributions" link at the top of any page). If you are looking for your draft article, you can find versions at User:Douglas Nelson Turner/sandbox, Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Douglas Nelson Turner, and at Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Rotating armature alternator. You need to decide which one you wish to work on, and request deletion of the others to avoid confusion. If you want to create a new user page at User:Douglas Nelson Turner, for the purposes described at Wikipedia:User pages, there is nothing to stop you from doing so. --David Biddulph (talk) 10:43, 5 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict)Your main user page User:Douglas Nelson Turner is intended for you to say something about yourself and your Wikipedia activites, if you choose to. You can have as many working pages in your "user space" as you like, by creating pages with titles like "User:Douglas Nelson Turner/Sandbox2" or "User:Douglas Nelson Turner/<Article title>". To request deletion of any page in your user space that you no longer want, add {{db-user}} or {{db-u1}} at the top. JohnCD (talk) 10:57, 5 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Not done This page was deleted via WP:A7 (lack of notability established for a company) and WP:G11 (unambiguous advertising). Because of this, I'm declining the request. I've also blocked you for having a username that represents a company. You can choose a new username, but I would recommend against trying to add the company to Wikipedia since I can't see where this company would pass our notability guidelines as a whole because I can't find where it's been the focus of reliable sources. Not done and will not be done. Wikipedia is not a place for you to write about yourself and promote your company. This was a blatant advertisement: "one of the most successful personalities... one of the most influential businessmen... market leading... fully integrated marketing program of great depth and scope... highest quality service in every field... " Anything like that is deleted from Wikipedia at sight. JohnCD (talk) 21:54, 5 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Not done I'm declining this because the deleted version was fairly promotional in tone and because it was only 1-2 sentences long. You'd have to completely delete and re-write everything, so there's really nothing there worth saving. It'd be far better for you to re-write the entire article from scratch.
