Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Mihalache1990 (talk | contribs) at 16:10, 7 January 2018 (→‎ioana mihalache: new section). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

Welcome. Please note that this page is NOT for challenging the outcome of deletion discussions or to address the pending deletion of any page.

Requests for undeletion is a process intended to assist users in restoring pages or files that were uncontroversially deleted via proposed deletion, under certain speedy deletion criteria (such as maintenance deletions or rejected Articles for creation drafts), or in deletion debates with little or no participation other than the nominator. This page is also intended to serve as a central location to request that deleted content be userfied, restored as a draft or emailed to you so the content can be improved upon prior to re-insertion into the mainspace, or used elsewhere (you may also make a request directly to one of the administrators listed here). This means that content deleted after discussion—at articles for deletion, categories for discussion, or miscellany for deletion among other deletion processes—may in some cases be provided to you, but such controversial page deletions will not be overturned through this process. Copyright violations and attack pages will not be provided at all.

This page is only for requesting undeletion of articles or files which have already been deleted. If the article you are concerned about is still visible, but has a warning message (template) at the top, please do not post here, but follow the instructions in the template or on your talk page. Please do not request that articles deleted under speedy deletion criteria A7, G4, G5 or G11 be undeleted here.

Note that requests for undeletion are not a replacement for deletion review. If you feel an administrator has erred in closing a deletion discussion or in applying a speedy deletion criterion, please contact them directly. If you discuss but are unable to resolve the issue on their talk page, it should be raised at Wikipedia:Deletion review, rather than here.

I nominated it for deletion due to the issues you mentioned, Hut 8.5. My reasoning is it is better to leave the title without an article than to have it tied up in a non article like it was. I would suggest that Connectnext321 leave it in user space. I'd have preferred leaving the title vacant and let him take it through AfC. But it was your decision and you made it, so what can we do now? John from Idegon (talk) 21:26, 31 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, both of you...I am going to boldly move the title to Draft. That's what we have draftspace for, ya? I absolutely do not understand why an empty article would be restored to mainspace, especially since it is still essentially empty 5 hours later. There was never any substantial content and I think we need something more than an infobox before it should be in mainspace. John from Idegon (talk) 21:31, 31 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

    Drone Detector

This is not an advertisement as claimed by the deleting administrator it is a legitimate entry about the company and the main product in an emerging industry. Saying "Drone Detector" (a registered trademark) is an ad is tantamount to saying "Kleenex" [1] is an ad. Please review and undelete if you concur. —2601:2C1:8600:1BC3:4815:6B32:96E4:ED21 (talk) 19:30, 1 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Nine point nine nine times out of ten any newer user or anon claiming an article about a company is "a legitimate entry" is defending what they know is a blatant SEO attempt. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 22:09, 1 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Another indicator of promotional intent, is an obsession with the fact that the subject has obtained a trademark. It is possible that an actual impartial article could be written about this firm; but the deleted content was not that article. --Orange Mike | Talk 22:49, 1 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    The Addams Family (upcoming film)

I want to revive this article as a redirect page, and I also want to use the content that I had put on the deleted article on my upcoming draft page of the same name. The article was deleted because it wasn't through with production yet, and I want to revive this as a redirect page until some time when the film comes closer towards its release date that I can then integrate the draft into the redirect page and make it into an article. However, if you believe that the outcome of the discussion did not reflect the consensus of the participants, or that significant new information has come to light since the article was deleted, you may contact the administrator who closed the discussion. File:C Moon by Wings pink label UK vinyl.jpg

The text is too factual for US copyright. Nevertheless, I'm unsure about UK copyright; UK originality threshold is very low, yet copyright of unoriginal typographic works lasts 25 years. The previous versions of the file should be undeleted, so I can revert back to its original, bigger size. —George Ho (talk) 02:49, 4 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Done I don't agree that it is too "factual" for copyright to apply, so that it is public domain. However I have reverted to the older version, as there was excessive reduction. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 10:25, 4 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    The X-Plan Group

Good morning, This article was marked for speedy deletion by Bishonen on 12/30 for promotional reasons. I have accepted the suggested changes of my user name (new username: Diego Antolini) in order to meet Wikipedia's criteria, so I would like to have the draft restored in order to make the necessary changes into the article to meet the Wikipedia criteria. I understand that the article was not yet reviewed by Wikipedia administrators as it was only in the form of a draft and I hadn't submitted it for review at the time of the block. I have spent hours in uploading the material and wouldn't want to have to start the article from zero. I hope you can accommodate my request. Thanks. Diego Antolini —Diego Antolini (talk) 07:40, 4 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Diego Antolini: I can e-mail the content to you, but I don't think this organization meets our notability guideline for organizations at all. Unless if you can provide some reliable secondary sources, I am inclined to reject this request. Alex Shih (talk) 08:12, 4 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Good morning Alex, The X-Plan Group has written in 5 national magazines (with 2 of them, NEXUS and PUNTO ZERO, the collaboration is ongoing), has been mentioned in several newspapers's articles in Italy, has been mentioned by one article in Argentina, has been hosted in a series of 9 Radio Interviews in Central Italy, and has been invited to talk at International Conferences such as the San Marino Symposium of Ufology. The Group has worked as Regional Representative for the C.U.N. (National Ufology Center) for 5 years, has published two books in Italy (one under my name and one under the name of the three founders), and contributed with an article in two more books in Italy. The X-Plan Group will be mention in a book authored by an Italian photographer living in London for its contribution to the study and research in the "fringe" sciences. Would this be sufficient to meet Wikipedia Notability Guidelines? Of course I can provide links to all of the above if it can help, but please advise whether I can post the links here or just finis my final draft of the page with all reference and submit to you administrators for final review. Thanks a lot for helping me, I strongly believe TXP can be a valid contribution to the Wikipedia Project. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Diego Antolini (talkcontribs) 15:27, 4 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

No. We don't cite anything the subject has written/said, anything that has been put out on the subject's behalf, quotables, name-drops, or proxies of the subject. Everything you describe above falls into one of those categories. We also do not accept "notability-by-osmosis". You need to show that the X-Plan Group has been written about in some depth by multiple third-party sources that have no connection, direct or indirect, to the subject. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 23:45, 4 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Usually (but not always) what's pertinent is self-evident on user talk pages which I link in deletion summaries. In this case, it's not, but can be found in those users' deleted contributions which are visible only to those with the requisite administrator permissions.
Users Suzo oz (talk · contribs) and Kazbah99 (talk · contribs) wrote most of the page. User Pianolover46 (talk · contribs) added an external link to his/her website; that user's talk page has several messages about what we on wikipedia call link-spamming.
