Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Willy turner (talk | contribs) at 12:24, 24 October 2017 (→‎List of countries by telecommunications equipment exports: new section). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

Welcome. Please note that this page is NOT for challenging the outcome of deletion discussions or to address the pending deletion of any page.

Requests for undeletion is a process intended to assist users in restoring pages or files that were uncontroversially deleted via proposed deletion, under certain speedy deletion criteria (such as maintenance deletions or rejected Articles for creation drafts), or in deletion debates with little or no participation other than the nominator. This page is also intended to serve as a central location to request that deleted content be userfied, restored as a draft or emailed to you so the content can be improved upon prior to re-insertion into the mainspace, or used elsewhere (you may also make a request directly to one of the administrators listed here). This means that content deleted after discussion—at articles for deletion, categories for discussion, or miscellany for deletion among other deletion processes—may in some cases be provided to you, but such controversial page deletions will not be overturned through this process. Copyright violations and attack pages will not be provided at all.

This page is only for requesting undeletion of articles or files which have already been deleted. If the article you are concerned about is still visible, but has a warning message (template) at the top, please do not post here, but follow the instructions in the template or on your talk page. Please do not request that articles deleted under speedy deletion criteria A7, G4, G5 or G11 be undeleted here.

Note that requests for undeletion are not a replacement for deletion review. If you feel an administrator has erred in closing a deletion discussion or in applying a speedy deletion criterion, please contact them directly. If you discuss but are unable to resolve the issue on their talk page, it should be raised at Wikipedia:Deletion review, rather than here.

I would like to create the article but noticed it has been Speedy deleted, can it be restored so that I can add to it? —Aca rblx (talk) 20:58, 14 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

    • @Aca rblx: you are welcome to write another article at this title, it was only deleted because the person who wrote it isn't allowed to edit Wikipedia. Hut 8.5 14:18, 15 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
    • @Hut 8.5: I want to better the articles about people involved in the 2016 Turkish coup d'état attempt Can I get a copy of the deleted article in my sandbox or does it contain the likes of personal information etc that needs to remain private?--Aca rblx (talk) 18:12, 16 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
      • I don't like restoring these, it tends to encourage the banned user who created the article when they shouldn't be editing at all. However I won't object if another admin wants to restore it. Hut 8.5 20:23, 16 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I believe this page was speedy deleted in error. No reasons were given and I cannot think of any reason why it should be deleted. I'd be grateful if it could be restored. If this is not agreed please send me the reasons and email a copy of the article to me Papamac (talk) 13:18, 17 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

    List of Powerhouse Films releases

The aim of the page is to create an article exactly the same as that which exists for Arrow Films found here - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arrow_Films. Powerhouse Films is also a UK distributor of classic, horror, and cult films on Blu-ray and DVD. If a page is required for Powerhouse Films similar to that of Arrow Films this can also be created e.g. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arrow_Films. It would useful to understand why these pages are allowed but not for those of Powerhouse Films as the aim in creating such pages is to serve the same function. —Rockwell05 (talk) 18:04, 17 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Rockwell05 You might try to make an article on the company, not just a list of films. Please do it as a draft via the WP:Article Wizard, not in mainspace. DGG ( talk ) 21:25, 17 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

    Günter Bechly

I am a researcher interested in the relationship between science and Wikipedia and wanted to see not so much the article for Günter Bechly, but the rather its talk page and edit history. I know it was deleted due to WP:CAN after pro-IDers flocked to the page. It is these processes that preceded the article's deletion that interest me for academic purposes. Is there any way to receive access to an already deleted talk page? And, more importantly, to the different edits that were made overtime (i.e. the changelgo)? —Wikigenstein (talk) 10:15, 18 October 2017 (UTC) Wikigenstein (talk) 10:15, 18 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The article was created by a colleague at our museum and subsequently expanded by myself. We are also going to add further scientists, who fulfill the relevance criteria, from our institution and other German paleontological and biological research institutions, because we noted a striking absence of German living scientists in our field of activity, compared to those of other countries (e.g. Michael S. Engel, David Grimaldi, Alexandr Pavlovich Rasnitsyn). I know that Wikipedia:Autobiography discourages (but does not prohibit) editing pages about oneself. As long as the edits are not obviously biased, fulfill the relevance criteria, and are supplied with valid sources, I see no problem with that.--Dr. Günter Bechly (talk) 11:06, 21 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"odonate phylogeny" is the evolutionary relationships and fossil history of dragonflies and damselflies (insect order Odonata). There is actually a section on phylogeny in nearly every article on systematic groups of organisms. I am currently adding more content on odonate phylogeny to Wikipedia, e.g. recently the page for the fossil dragonfly family Stenophlebiidae. Next will be a page for Tarsophlebiidae. Greetings--Dr. Günter Bechly (talk) 17:18, 21 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

    Notability?

With all respects to the subject, are they notable enough to have their own page? By way of comparison, Volker Mosbrugger, the head of the Senckenberg museum, and also a paleontologist, doesn't have his own page. Oharar (talk) 13:17, 23 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

That seems to be a good point, there aren't many secondary sources that cover Mr. Bechly. Thus may be worth nominating for deletion. For the same reason I have not tried to write an article for the preeminent myrmecologist Gennady Dlussky even though he was one of the for most ant and fossil ant taxonomist of this century.--Kevmin § 15:11, 23 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This page was deleted because of a PROD. Nobody at the law firm was notified of the complaint or the deletion. Once the page is restored, we will consider the complaint and make any necessary changes. —74.213.7.194 (talk) 20:33, 18 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

There is no requirement to notify the firm of anything going on within Wikipedia, because it is not "your" article; you have no claim whatsoever to the article or any of its content. That said, the user who created the article was notified, at User talk:Arielgraves. Your firm also has no business making any substantive changes to the article, because you have a Wikipedia:Conflict of interest.
Because it was deleted in accordance with WP:PROD, it qualifies for restoration by request, so I have restored it. However, the article looks unsuitable for Wikipedia, so I have nominated it for deletion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Selman Munson & Lerner. You are welcome to make your case, grounded in Wikipedia policy, why the article should be kept. Merely existing is not a valid reason to keep an article about a company. ~Anachronist (talk) 21:24, 18 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Cliff Chapman - "unsuccessful actor" is libellous and career damaging. Cliff Chapman works as an actor, represented by Meredith Westwood Management Ltd and London Voiceover, and regularly books work with amongst other employers, The Black Library, part of the Worldwide Brand Games Workshop limited, as a voiceover actor, as well as Big Finish for their Pathfinder Legends audio drama range, again based on an international brand game. Recent commercial clients include Dulux paint for a voiceover to a web ad. An actor is not only successful if they appear in Hollywood movies or top rated TV shows. An actor is successful if he or she continues to earn a living. Cliff Chapman has a valid IMDB, UK Spotlight page, Equity union membership, and many 2017 credits.

Cliff Chapman also appeared in The Future Boys Trilogy of stage shows and subsequent successful Kickstarter funded audio comedy-dramas. The writer, Steve Jordan has a Wikipedia page. Cliff Chapman is referenced on this. Therefore surely the actor is entitled to a page?

Once again, to delete the page with ref: "Unsuccessful actor" is immeasurably career-damaging and NOT correct. — Preceding unsigned comment added by The Magic Wanderer (talkcontribs) 11:51, 19 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@The Magic Wanderer: The article was deleted with the reason "Article about a real person, which does not credibly indicate the importance or significance of the subject". That is an objective statement of fact. Nowhere does it say "unsuccessful actor." Don't invent claims of libel where none exist.

Articles that were deleted and which are currently up for deletion as well

Hi, I am Wikipedia editor and I would like to say that a lot of articles like these ones Death of Aisling Symes, Disappearance of Carla Losey, Disappearance of David Guerrero, Anna Christian Waters, were deleted and these articles Vernon Jones, Category:Deceased American professional wrestlers, Category:Deceased English professional wrestlers, Category:Deceased English professional wrestlers are currently up for deletion. I would like to say that people who I listed were people who went missing whose disappearance WAS very notable, and the reasons that people gave for deleting them were NOT good ones. Their claims that most of the sources that I used were only local doesn't make sense to me, as most news does not make world wide news. With the exception of one person who I just met yesterday EVERYRONE ELSE who I know personally says that local news is still notable (some of the sources which I used though were not just local) and the deletion of the articles was wrong. One editor claims that make an article on dead people could get too massive, but look at this article Category:Living people which is totally massive, I think that is a poor argument, I also think there is something wrong with the deletion process and what makes these people's judgement's right in what they are claiming shouldn't be kept? I feel that this is a form of bullying and harassment and think it should stop as there should be stricter guideline against unnecessary deletion. I would like to know if I have a valid complaint, if can these articles be restored, and if we can have stricter policies against unnecessary deletion? Narada_News

Narada news is a media platform which in a short period could establish its place in Indian Journalism. The media hold the major agenda against corruption, fascism, racism and superstitious beliefs still existing in India. Narada news works in a mode similar to the performance of non-governmental organizations structure In 2016 March 14 when Narada news published the anti-corruption sting operations to public, Kolkatta high court and Supreme court of India did order probe into it. All those featured in narada sting tapes were found accepting bribe from a representative of a fictitious company. Currently, the two major investigative agencies of the country CBI and Enforcement Directorate are on prime charge of investigating the corruptions of Senior politicians found in Narada News revelations.      Not done. We don't restore unambiguously promotional articles here. If you want, you may start over from scratch in your sandbox, user space, or draft space (such as Draft:Narada News) and submit it for review via Wikipedia:Articles for creation.
Also, Wikipedia doesn't have articles about media platforms that "could establish its place" in journalism. The subject of an article must comply with WP:CORP inclusion criteria now, not at some unknown time in the future. ~Anachronist (talk) 18:14, 22 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

    Cultural Health

Please Reinstate this article because the argument for deletion is that “Cultural Health" does not exist. This is contrary to the fact. Cultural Health is a widely used term in the Unites States where I live, to include the United States Government. See Think “Cultural Health” https://www.thinkculturalhealth.hhs.gov

Not to mention more then 58 million hits in a google search of which other Wikipedia articles on aspects of this very subject are prominent in the search results. millions have viewed this Cultural Health article on Wikipedia and there has been discussion on the talk page but non that I recall about the existence of Cultural Health as a widely used term in the USA.

If you wish for me to utilize the US government as a reference i will be glad to. please reinstate — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aunk (talkcontribs) 19:37, 22 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

    Azamara Club Cruises

I wanted this page restored yet again because I believe it was yet again unfairly deleted even after I tried to recreate the page. This is an information about a cruise line and its vessels are still sailing with the cruise line and I believe the page should be restored again because there is still information about it, also I want to update it, so that it is up to date. —Angelgreat (talk) 21:10, 22, October 2017 (UTC) —Angelgreat (talk) 02:09, 23 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Note: This page was deleted under speedy deletion criterion G4, which means the page is a near-carbon-copy of a page previously deleted via deletion debate. Pages deleted via deletion debate will not be restored here; go to WP:Deletion review or contact the administrator who closed the deletion debate instead. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 07:02, 23 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Comment I tried to talk to the administrator, but he wouldn't reopen the debate or restore the page, even I tried to reconstruct the page, but it immediately got deleted, so I need to know why I can't reconstruct a deleted page? —Angelgreat (talk) 21:08, 23, October 2017 (UTC) —
My guess is because you didn't pay any attention to the reasons the page was deleted in the first place, as detailed in the original deletion debate. If the page is re-created in such a way that it addresses any and all issues brought up in the deletion rationale(s), then G4 does not apply, simple as that. If it doesn't make any effort to address the issues, it's a textbook G4. You need to take this to WP:Deletion review if the deleting admin will not restore. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 02:49, 24 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

    Donald Trump and handshakes

The deleting admin has agreed to restoring Donald Trump and handshakes as a subpage of my userpage i.e. User:DrStrauss/Donald Trump and handshakes to work on with a view to selectively merging content to Donald Trump in popular culture per his closing comments at the AfD. I was not involved in the creation of the page but believe some of its content is worth saving. —DrStrauss talk 13:45, 23 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Done @DrStrauss: apologies for the delay. Please let me know if you end up using non-trivial amounts of the text elsewhere because there'll be paperwork to do to satisfy attribution requirements. If you decide to get rid of it, please arrange for the history to be moved back to the original location so it can be found if it's needed. Reached out to RACC board of directors for clarification on a few items, which took some time to receive. Now that I have this information, I believe the page can be reasonably completed and accepted for publishing. —Amgray19 (talk) 19:34, 23 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

List of countries by telecommunications equipment exports

Deletion rationale was "Dated list which appears to be a product of original research based on 2012 data. No encyclopedic value at this time." So I dont remember what the date of the data was, but more recent figures will now be available, and out of date data isnt a criteria for proding. Quite how it is OR when its referenced to impeccable sources is beyond me. Data on significant aspects of the global economy is inherrantly encyclopedic. Proder is an administrator; I request that another admin explains to him that he is proding articles innapropriately. Thanks. —Willy turner (talk) 12:24, 24 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
