The untitled Black Panther video game is an upcoming action-adventure game developed by Cliffhanger Games and published by Electronic Arts. Based on the Marvel Comics character Black Panther, it will feature an original narrative that derives from the character's long-running comic book mythology, as well as various adaptations in other media.

EA and Marvel Games entered a partnership to develop and publish multiple video games based on Marvel Comics characters, which was announced in September 2022. The game was officially announced in July 2023 alongside the reveal of Cliffhanger Games' establishment as a new internal team dedicated to the game's development.

Development[edit]

Electronic Arts announced in September 2022 that they had entered a partnership with Marvel Games to develop and publish multiple AAA video games based on Marvel Comics characters, beginning with an Iron Man game to be developed by Motive Studio.[1]

The second title in this partnership was announced to be a standalone Black Panther video game in July 2023, with EA additionally unveiling a newly established Seattle-based studio, Cliffhanger Games, to be the game's developers. The studio comprises numerous game industry veterans whose previous work includes major franchises such as Halo, Call of Duty and God of War. The team is being led by creative director Kevin Stephens, who previously worked on Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor (2014) at Monolith Productions. Stephens expressed his excitement towards tackling the Black Panther character and mythos, stating he was motivated towards giving players more direct agency and control over the game's narrative than otherwise seen in story-driven action-adventure games, while also committing to develop the nation of Wakanda into "an epic world for players who love Black Panther and want to explore the world of Wakanda as much as we do,”[2]
