The sea wolf first appeared in the third set of Monster Cards (1982). The greater seawolf and the lesser seawolf first appeared in the first edition Monster Manual II (1983).[1]

The greater seawolf and lesser seawolf appeared in second edition under the "lycanthrope" heading in Monstrous Compendium Volume One (1989),[2] and in the Monstrous Manual (1993).[3]

The seawolf appeared in third edition in Stormwrack (2005).[4]

A seawolf is a chaotic evil lycanthrope that appears as if it were a huge, wolf-headed seal which has fangs filling its mouth. Once infected a victim changes into a seawolf within 2–5 days, leaving their former life behind and joining a seawolf pack. As opposed to other lycanthropes, seawolves are not affected by the full moon.
