Bus Stop's disruptive editing

Hi Tony. There's a serious problem with Bus Stop and his disruptive editing. Check out this, which is a transparent attenpt to grotesquely distort what was in the source. This comes mere hours after being told to stop. He is fully conscious of his actions (though astoundingly feigning innocence). He is clearly not editing in good faith. Better source request for File:EMK eulogy of RFK.ogg

Thanks for your upload to Wikipedia:

You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. Message delivered by Theo's Little Bot (opt-out) 21:07, 1 August 2013 (UTC)

FOUR lists

Sorry, I can't remember how I originally did those lists. I've created User:J Milburn/List for Tony, which lists every article in Category:Did you know articles that are featured articles that isn't listed on Wikipedia:Four Award/Records. This is by no means a perfect check (as the category is incomplete, and some FAs formerly a DYK perhaps won't have been through GAC), but may help you find some more. Sorry! Requesting your opinion on a photo

Hi. We really need your opinion on which of these photos would make the best Infobox portrait for the Rick Remender article. Could you please offer your opinion in that discussion? The most recent subsection of that discussion is here, so you can just chime in there if you don't want to read the whole thread. I really appreciate it. Thanks. In a World...

I did not remove anything from the page. I simply moved the background farther down the page, after the plot and cast because in every film article I've seen in the past, those two things always go first. Yes, I should have used an edit summary, but you also should have made sure that it was actually vandalism before treating it as such. JDDJS (talk) 04:09, 8 August 2013 (UTC)

Wham support/oppose

Sorry to see the article was archived. I hope it doesn't discourage you from trying again, though I totally sympathize with why you wouldn't. Curly Turkey (gobble) 00:07, 12 August 2013 (UTC)

Changes to SuggestBot's suggestions

We have changed the number of suggested articles and which categories they are selected from. The number of stubs has been greatly reduced, the number of articles needing sources doubled, and two new categories added (orphans and unencyclopaedic articles). We have also modified the layout of the suggestions and added sortable columns with various types of information about each article. The first two columns are:

Views/Day
Daily average number of views an article's had over the past 14 days.
Quality
Predicted article quality on a 1- to 3-star scale. Placing your cursor over the stars should give you a pop-up describing the article's quality (Low/Medium/High), current assessment class, and predicted assessment class.

The method we use to predict article quality also allows us to assess whether an article might need specific types of work in order to improve its quality. The work needed might not correspond to cleanup tags added to the article, since our method is not based on those. We have added five columns reflecting this work assessment, where a red X indicates improvement is needed. Placing your cursor over an X should give you a pop-up with a short description of the work needed. The five columns seek to answer the following five questions:

Content
Is more content needed?
Headings
Does this article have an appropriate section structure?
Images
Is the number of illustrative images about right?
Links
Does this article link to enough other Wikipedia articles?
Sources
For its length, is there an appropriate number of citations to sources in this article?

SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. We appreciate that you have signed up to receive suggestions regularly, your contributions make Wikipedia better — thanks for helping!

If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please let us know on SuggestBot's talk page. Regards from Nettrom (talk), SuggestBot's caretaker. -- SuggestBot (talk) 23:43, 12 August 2013 (UTC)

This week's articles for improvement

Hello, TonyTheTiger:

The following are WikiProject Today's articles for improvement's weekly selections.

Image review for Whaam!

Hello Tony, maybe it's a good idea to get a second opinion for the fair-use situation in Whaam!. User:Masem is active in fair-use discussions and also seems to have some knowledge in the topic itself; they may be better able to judge the relevance of the used images, especially of the sketch. Just a suggestion to avoid any unnecessary, lengthy disputes for the second nomination - of course i am glad to help, if you have any further questions on images for the nomination. GermanJoe (talk) 20:04, 13 August 2013 (UTC)

GLAM and WALRUS

Hi Tony. GLAM isn't really a centralized effort, but I've been involved in it for a couple of years, have done a fair aount of museum and library stuff, and sort of started the Wikipedia Loves Libraries thing. There are no hard eligibility requirements for WALRUS, we just want people who are reliable and have a bit of wiki experience, and who have the trust of their local community (incidentally, we're in the midst of another WALRUS naming debate - meta:WALRUS/August 2013!). Also, thanks for pointing out my error, of course I meant Sept 21 for Wikipedia Takes America.--Pharos (talk) 20:24, 14 August 2013 (UTC)

Carlos Brown (American football)

In looking at some Mich. football articles, it appears that the article you developed on Carlos Brown (American football) was heavily vandalized. I'm not sure what's vandalism and what's not, but thought you'd want to know. I also notified Jweiss, and he's done some reverting, but it could definitely use another set of eyes (and some updating as well). Cbl62 (talk) 05:18, 15 August 2013 (UTC)

Oh, bother! I see this morning that what I reviewed was actually 2013 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament rather than the one you asked me to review. I think the one I reviewed has a good chance at promotion if you are interested. It needs a little more work on the citations, mainly. My suggestions are on the talk page of the tournament article. Nomination of Jarmere Jenkins for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Jarmere Jenkins is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jarmere Jenkins until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Fyunck(click) (talk) 18:41, 21 August 2013 (UTC)

Let me politely refuse this thanks

Hey Tony, I see that you're mass-adding notices of thanks to GA reviewers, and I'd appreciate it if you'd leave me out from any further notes. Frankly, I'd prefer if we didn't interact for a bit after your spreading bad-faith accusations against me over more than a hundred project and user pages just two days ago, which to my knowledge you haven't in any way retracted. But even if that weren't the case, it's unnecessary to give to me an individual userbox for any article I review. Let's just take a break. Cheers, -- Khazar2 (talk) 19:09, 21 August 2013 (UTC)

WP:NSONGS

Please see WP:NSONGS, the song has yet to even receive its official release as a single so why would we have an article on it? That makes zero sense. You can create it in your sandbox, and do a little thing called waiting. You might want to also see WP:TOOSOON and WP:CRYSTAL. Will it probably chart? Yes, but it is CRYSTAL BALLING to just assume it will and that the song is notable. This is why "Survival" does not have an article, when if anything Survival has been covered more by sources, the audio barely came out two-three hours, there should not be an encyclopedia article on the topic yet. Any proper content is available on the album article. The song currently fails WP:NSONGS and WP:GNG. STATic message me! 06:13, 27 August 2013 (UTC)

There is a lot reliably sourced content out there. Wikipedia's job is to summarize this. This passes both NSONGS and GNG for this reason. We have every reason to believe that this article will grow to more than a stub. Readers are probably googling and looking for content.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 06:41, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
And everything that was mentioned in the article is already found at The Marshall Mathers LP 2. The article definitely does not pass NSONGS and GNG, you might want to have a good look through of the two pages. "We have every reason to believe that this article will grow to more than a stub. Readers are probably googling and looking for content." sounds alot like WP:CRYSTAL to me. You really need to understand WP:DR and have a proper discussion before jumping to AN. But I see that you have a negative history there, which makes you taking it there make even less sense. STATic message me! 06:55, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
The fact that people are denying a place for this article and forcing the content to be in the album, has no bearing on whether this article should exist. Yes it fails the three enumerated reasons, but those are not criteria, but rather suggested considerations. Reread the first sentence: "Songs and singles are probably notable if they have been the subject[1] of multiple, non-trivial[2] published works whose sources are independent of the artist and label. This includes published works in all forms, such as newspaper articles, other books, television documentaries and reviews". This song passes that test. Let your fingers do the walking on google. There are several articles out there.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 07:03, 27 August 2013 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Kasim Reed, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page WGCL (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Editing of my proposal

Tony, your recent edits were not properly done, as they changed and substantially altered mine. I haven't been involved in expressing any vitriol to you during this RfC, but I'm entirely serious when I say I won't tolerate another user, regardless of status and seniority, editing my comments to say something I didn't say. This not only violates WP:TPO, it is not helpful to the argument. Now we have to devolve into (potentially) another discussion, and you know there are going to be people who jump on this as just a chance to bash you. This is a warning -- I don't know whether you did what you did in good faith or not, but that's what I'll assume. Another instance will be proof otherwise. Cdtew (talk) 17:46, 27 August 2013 (UTC)

Million Award

The Million Award
For your contributions to bring Michelle Obama (estimated annual readership: 1,032,563) to Good Article status, I hereby present you the Million Award. Congratulations on this rare accomplishment, and thanks for all you do for Wikipedia's readers. -- Khazar2 (talk) 02:15, 28 August 2013 (UTC)

The Million Award is a new initiative to recognize the editors of Wikipedia's most-read content; you can read more about the award and its possible tiers (Quarter Million Award, Half Million Award, and Million Award) at Wikipedia:Million Award. You're also welcome to display this userbox:

This editor won the Million Award for bringing Michelle Obama to Good Article status.

If I've made any error in this listing, please don't hesitate to correct it; if for any reason you don't feel you deserve it, please don't hesitate to remove it; if you know of any other editor who merits one of these awards, please don't hesitate to give it; if you yourself deserve another award from any of the three tiers, please don't hesitate to take it! -- Khazar2 (talk) 02:15, 28 August 2013 (UTC)

I'm just giving out the top tier for now--articles with a current estimated readership of 1,000,000 or more for the year--but feel free to claim whatever else seems fair. Though we've been disagreeing lately, I still greatly appreciate all your work on articles like these. Congrats again! -- Khazar2 (talk) 02:15, 28 August 2013 (UTC)

Thought you might be interested in this one -- the first racially integrated Michigan basketball team. I'm planning to work on it a bit more and submit to DYK. With all the work you've done on Michigan Wolverines basketball topics, I wondered if you knew of other source materials that could be used to improve the article, or if you might like to help out. Cbl62 (talk) 05:18, 28 August 2013 (UTC)

Concerning the painting Whaam!

TonyTheTiger—you are removing sourced and relevant material from the article. Can you please weigh in for instance here with an explanation or justification? Thanks. Bus stop (talk) 14:38, 28 August 2013 (UTC)

WikiCup 2013 August newsletter

This year's final is upon us. Our final eight, in order of last round's score, are:

  1. Australia Hawkeye7 (submissions), a WikiCup newcomer who has contributed on topics of military history and physics, including a number of high-importance topics. Good articles have made up the bulk of his points, but he has also scored a great deal of bonus points. He has the second highest score overall so far, with more than 3000 points accumulated.
  2. New South Wales Casliber (submissions), another WikiCup veteran who reached the finals in 2012, 2011 and 2010. He writes on a variety of topics including botany, mycology and astronomy, and has claimed the highest or joint highest number of featured articles every round so far this year. He has the third highest score overall, with just under 3000 points accumulated.
  3. Wales Cwmhiraeth (submissions), 2012 WikiCup champion, who writes mostly on marine biology. She has also contributed to high-importance topics, seeing huge numbers of bonus points for high-importance featured and good articles. Previous rounds have seen her scoring the most bonus points, with scoring spread across did you knows, good articles and featured articles.
  4. Canada Sasata (submissions), a WikiCup veteran who finished in second place in 2012, and competed as early as 2009. He writes articles on biology, especially mycology, and has scored highly for a number of collaborations at featured article candidates.
  5. Colorado Sturmvogel_66 (submissions), the winner of the 2010 competition. His contributions mostly concern Naval history, and he has scored a very large number of points for good articles and good article reviews in every round. He is the highest scorer overall this year, with over 3500 points in total.
  6. Wyoming Ealdgyth (submissions), who is competing in the WikiCup for the second time, though this will be her first time in the final. A regular at FAC, she is mostly interested in British medieval history, and has scored very highly for some top-importance featured articles on the topic.
  7. London Miyagawa (submissions), a finalist in 2012 and 2011. He writes on a broad variety of topics, with many of this year's points coming from good articles about Star Trek. Good articles make up the bulk of his points, and he had the most good articles back in round 2; he was also the highest scorer for DYK in rounds 1 and 2.
  8. Scotland Adam Cuerden (submissions) has previously been involved with the WikiCup, but hasn't participated for a number of years. He scores mostly from restoration work leading to featured picture credits, but has also done some article writing and reviewing.

We say goodbye to eight great participants who did not qualify for the final: Poland Piotrus (submissions), Idaho Figureskatingfan (submissions), Ohio ThaddeusB (submissions), Michigan Dana boomer (submissions), Prince Edward Island Status (submissions), United States Ed! (submissions), Florida 12george1 (submissions), England Calvin999 (submissions). Having made it to this stage is still an excellent achievement, and you can leave with your heads held high. We hope to see you all again next year. Signups are now open for the 2014 WikiCup, which will begin on 1 January. All Wikipedians, whatever their interest or level of experience, are warmly invited to participate in next year's competition.

This last month has seen some incredible contributions; for instance, Cwmhiraeth's Starfish and Ealdgyth's Battle of Hastings—two highly important, highly viewed pages—made it to featured article status. It would be all too easy to focus solely on these stunning achievements at the expense of those participants working in lower-scoring areas, when in fact all WikiCup participants are doing excellent work. A mention of everything done is impossible, but here are a few: Last round saw the completion of several good topics (on the 1958, 1959 and 1962 Atlantic hurricane seasons) to which 12george1 had contributed. Calvin999 saw "S&M" (song), on which he has been working for several years, through to featured article status on its tenth try. Figureskatingfan continued towards her goal of a broad featured/good topic on Maya Angelou, with two featured and four good articles. ThaddeusB contributed significantly to over 20 articles which appeared on the main page's "in the news" section. Adam Cuerden continued to restore a large number of historical images, resulting in over a dozen FP credits this round alone. The WikiCup is not just about top-importance featured articles, and the work of all of these users is worthy of commendation.

Finally, the usual notices: If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to reduce the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Can someone explain to Masem (talk · contribs), what I feel he already knows. If he no longer opposes Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Whaam!/archive2, he is suppose to strike his original oppose. I am sure he knows this and should not have to be told, but for some reason he has not done so.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 13:54, 30 August 2013 (UTC)

Tony, not only did he strike his oppose, but he supported. (Redacted) Curly Turkey (gobble) 15:07, 30 August 2013 (UTC)
Note that my request was made at 13:54 and he supported at 14:06. What is your point?--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 15:36, 30 August 2013 (UTC)
The "point" is that what should have been a simple request was instead used as an opportunity to insinuate. What was the point of that? Curly Turkey (gobble) 23:49, 30 August 2013 (UTC)
