Anna University of Technology, Tiruchirappalli (AUTT) is a technological university located at Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India. It was established on 1 February 2007 as a result of a decision to split Anna University into six universities, namely, Anna University, Chennai, Anna University of Technology, Chennai, Anna University of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, Anna University of Technology, Coimbatore, Anna University of Technology Tirunelveli and Anna University of Technology, Madurai.[1] The university is an accredited university with powers to grant affiliations to colleges and universities conducting graduate and post graduate studies, as well as diploma courses, and is so recognized by the UGC.
AUTT offers higher education in engineering, technology, management and allied sciences. It also offers Post Graduate Courses to teaching faculty in other colleges to enrich their academic career through Modular Based Credit Banking System (MBCBS)[2] The AUTianz[3], is the official students' e-Magazine of Anna University of Technology, Tiruchirappalli.
History
AUTT was formerly known as the School of Engineering and Technology of the Bharathidasan University, and later the Bharathidasan Institute of Technology (BIT). In December 2007, it was converted into an affiliating university, with almost all engineering colleges in the south district under its fold and absorbed all the government engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu as its constituent colleges. This includes five constituent engineering colleges, 64 Self-Financing Colleges,10 MBA colleges, three MCA colleges and three colleges offering architecture.
In September 14, 2011 a bill was passed to merge back the universities.[4]
Campus
The university main campus is situated in the southern part of Tiruchirappalli and extends over 300 acres (1.2 km2) adjoining the Mandayur and the Palkalai perur.[5] The campus contains the AUTT, and houses nine technical departments of the AUTT.

Events
- INNOVAUTT is the annual students' innovation exhibition
- AUT UTSAV is the annual cultural event that gives the stage for constituting university campus students' to reveal their talents
- AADUKALAM is the annual sports meet conducted by the Department of Civil Engineering
Achievements
The students of the AUTT - Main Campus made notable performance in the Microsoft Imagine Cup Event for the application programme they have developed PregBuzz which would aid pregnant women to take care of their health condition.
