Revision as of 19:51, 9 December 2016

Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Semi-protection: An IP user has taken ownership of this page, and is deleting well sourced information. They've been questioned on this now, by other users in the talk page, and are acting in bad faith in that discussion.Senor Freebie (talk) 08:10, 8 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection.. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 11:28, 8 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Continued removal of referenced details by subject, who has attempted to set up their own "management monitored" wiki page which was swifly deleted (it seems the subject or one of them doesn't want a previous band mentioned). Previously protected on 22 June for 2 weeks - clearly much longer protection is neccessary here as repeated warnings to the various IP addresses they've edited from and current user name ESRaw89 have gone ignored79.69.114.241 (talk) 12:12, 9 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 12:27, 9 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Really? So just let the disruptive editing continue then. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.69.114.241 (talk) 12:33, 9 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I would concur with Oshwah on this, and add that from the diffs, it looks like you have also removed prose and references in your "restore" edit. As an uninvolved person, it is not immediately clear to me why this was done. It gives the appearance of a dispute. If they continue their attempt to create a circular redirect, we will certainly do something about it. Samsara 14:18, 9 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – User from China continues to revert, has failed to understand MoS, repeated information, which is WP:Overlink or too many links. Govvy (talk) 14:01, 9 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Question: @Govvy: If this is about the MoS, please explain this edit. Wikipedia:Manual of Style#Section headings seems to be a relevant section of the MoS. Samsara 14:34, 9 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Because there are two separate lists one saying director, one saying producer, but in reality he has produced and directed most of his films, I combined it into one table to make it simple with notes saying what he has done. So the way I did it is less repeated information. But the user from the Chinese IP reverted it back to the confusing two tables split by his acting credits in the middle, the original layout at the article before I went to improve it, is very poor. Govvy (talk) 14:49, 9 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
That doesn't sound like the edit I was pointing to. Samsara 14:55, 9 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I am not on about the headings, I am on lists or tables of MoS, you have two tables more or less the same. This is off topic now, I am going to restore the table I did and the Chinese IP is just going to revert me probably. He/she hasn't replied to my comment on the talk page of the article. :/ Govvy (talk) 16:09, 9 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Give it time, it's only been a few hours, and they may not be online. Ultimately, I can't protect on the supposition that they will ignore the recently posted discussion. Samsara 19:05, 9 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Error: no page names specified (help).

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
