Menorca Airport (IATA: MAH, ICAO: LEMH; Template:Lang-ca, Template:Lang-es) is the airport serving the Balearic island of Menorca in the Mediterranean Sea, near the coast of Spain. The airport is located 4.5 km (2.8 mi) southwest of Mahón,[3] after which it is sometimes informally also named. In 2020, the airport handled just over 1 million passengers, making it the fifteenth busiest airport in the country.[2]
History
The airport was opened on 24 March 1969 when all civilian services were transferred from the neighbouring San Luis Airport.[citation needed]
On 14 September 2006 a partial roof collapse occurred in the new part of the terminal undergoing construction work. The collapse may have been caused by a build-up of heavy rain water. The debris temporarily trapped 20 and injured three workers.[4][5] A major refit of the airport was finished before the start of the 2008 season. It now has 16 gates, five of them linked by jetway to the main terminal building.[citation needed]
In 2016 for the first time the annual passenger volume processed through the airport exceeded 3 million.[2]

Menorca airport is served by bus route 10 linking it with the Mahón central bus station. Services run Monday to Sunday from approximately 0600 to 2245 in both directions, with the exact timetable and frequencies varying over the months of the year to essentially reflect tourism-related demand; the trip duration is 10 minutes.[32][33] The service is operated by Torres Allés Autocares on behalf of local authorities.[34]
