Qari Waheed Zafar Qasmi is a Qāri'[1] and an internationally famed naat khawan from Pakistan.[2][3][4] He can recite na`at in Urdu and Arabic.

Background

The name of Qari Waheed Zafar Qasmi shines bright on the sky in the field of Qirat and Naat recitation. He started reciting Quran-e Majeed at the age of 6 or 7. At the same time he started reciting Naat Sharif and Hifz of the Holy Quran as well. By the age of 9, Qari Waheed Zafar Qasmi had learned Quran-e-Majeed by heart and had also learned Qirat. Qari Waheed Zafar Qasmi has represented Pakistan in various international competitions. By the grace of Allah He won the first competition in 1969 in Malaysia for Pakistan and thereafter in Libya in 1979. In 1980, he won a competition of Tilawat-e-Quran-e-Majeed in Saudi Arabia. Qari Waheed Zafar Qasmi again in 1981 won a competition in Syria. He started Radio programs in 1970 and the first program that he did was “Sar Chashma-e- Hidayat”. This program provided him the various opportunities to proceed further in this field and helped bringing him to the limelight. After that he did many programs on television as wellas on radio. In 1972, He read his first Naat, which is (Allah Hu Allah Hu) on television, which got very popular all over the world.Some of his other popular Naats are Fasloon Ko Takaluf hai hum say agar, Zahe Muqadar and Qaseeda-Burda Shareef.He also performed and served as a judge in Qirat and Naat competitions. He has trained many well-known artists in this field. His contribution in the field of Qiraat and Naat led him to win pride of performance award.
