This is a list of Wikipedians who are no longer an integral part of the community. See also Wikipedia:List of administrators/Inactive.

Wikipedians who no longer edit due to confirmed death should instead be added to Wikipedia:Deceased Wikipedians.

Purpose of this list

The purpose of this list is to provide a reminder to us of those who have left and their reasons for doing so.

Please do not add people to this list who were never an integral part of the community. Don't add users with fewer than about 1,000 edits. Do not add people unless you are certain they have left, do not add anonymous users identified by their IP address (they could have created an account and still be contributing, or they might have a roaming IP address) and do not add yourself.

People who leave a goodbye message on their talk page or elsewhere, and then actually refrain from editing for at least two weeks are likely to have left permanently and may be added to the list.
Wait about a month before listing someone who has simply ceased editing, unless you have some other reason for being certain that they have left.
In most cases, editors who have gradually adopted a pattern of occasional editing interspersed with long breaks should not be listed merely because they are on one of their long breaks.
Editors who return are no longer "missing" and should be removed from the list.
Missing Wikipedians should be added to this list by people who knew them well rather than by strangers.
If you add your own user name to the list as one of your final edits, your addition might be reverted since it is theoretically impossible for a "missing" Wikipedian to make an edit.

This page was mentioned in an Economist article on March 6 2008: "Many who are excited about contributing to the site end up on the “Missing Wikipedians” page: a constantly updated list of those who have decided to stop contributing. It serves as a reminder that frustration at having work removed prompts many people to abandon the project."

Abu badali (talk · contribs · count) - Last edit: 11 September 2007 - Left over concerns regarding non-free content usage, per the final edit. The final edit also indicates the user may return in "some months", depending upon progress in this area. Made one edit April 16, 2008, but none since.
Adam Carr (talk · contribs · count) - Started contributing September 2003. After many months of increasing frustration, stopped editing regularly 15 February 2007, then posted 6 May that he would no longer contribute to Wikipedia. Made a few sporadic edits afterwards.

Anonymous anonymous (talk · contribs · count) - Last edit: 23 December 2006 - Announced her/his retirement on 1 September 2006, with real-life concerns cited as the reason for leaving in subsequent edits. Returned briefly in December 2006 to leave some seasons' greetings.
Anonymous editor (talk · contribs · count) - Last edit: 17 June 2006 - Administrator.
Apankrat (talk · contribs · count) - Last edit: 3 January 2008 - left a goodbye message.
Apollomelos (talk · contribs · count) - Last edit: 19 August 2005 - User & user talk pages were deleted 21 May 2005 by request, citing the reason "I am leaving the project because I no longer have the time to spare contributing to often controversial topics in which I must spend 75% of my time explaining the information to users who did not even bother to read up on the topics[...]". Final edit indicated this user would be returning; has not edited since.

Balcer (talk · contribs · count) - Last edit on September 8, 2007; currently works on Wikimedia Commons.
Banes (talk · contribs · count) - On August 29, 2006 he left a retirement message on his userpage, saying he would be busy for the next few months, though he continued editing sporadically. Last edit November 17, 2006.
Bagpuss (talk · contribs · count) - One of the oldest Wikipedians. First edit was January 5, 2003. Last edit was May 7, 2003. Came back once in January 2005, and again in April 2006.
Basara-kun (talk · contribs · count) - Left on 19/07/2007 after uploading 50+ unsourced images. "Enough. My contribuitions are ignored, my images are removed from the articles and in general, my editions aren't "encyclopedic"."
Bcrowell (talk · contribs · count) - Last edit 13 March 2006. "Wikipedia was fun for a few years, but at this point I think it's entered a stage where it's just not fun anymore.... I've intentionally munged my password, so I can no longer log in." Apparently reappeared briefly as Bcrowell2 (talk · contribs · count).
Benc (talk · contribs · count) - Last edit 23 December 2004.
Ben (talk · contribs · count) - Highly experienced with templates, improving several of them. Last edit was on May 18, 2007.

Bornintheguz (talk · contribs · count) - Last edit October 3, 2005. A very prolific contributor to articles about soccer.
BostonMA (talk · contribs · count) - Last edit July 17, 2007; stopped editing proflicially in February, a month after a failed RfA. 6000+ edits. No reason given.
Brat32 (talk · contribs · count) - Last edit August 24, 2006; blanked her/his userpage and replaced it with the message "I'm gone."
Britney Spears (talk · contribs · count), stopped editing in July 2005, made two edits on January 22, 2006.
Brossow (talk · contribs · count) Posted WikiBreak message on user and user talk pages on June 6, 2006, and has been editing sporadically since. Last edit August 15, 2007.

ElBenevolente (talk · contribs · count) - Last edit January 08, 2006, arbitrary departure occured after acknowledging a user with the {{welcome}} tag. As of April 21 2006, all attempts to contact user in question have been unsuccessful.

Exir Kamalabadi (talk · contribs · count) - Last edit August 24, 2007, owing to the fact that his home country of China had blocked access to Wikipedia at the time.

Flcelloguy (talk · contribs · count) - ArbCom member, hasn't edited since May 28, 2007, when he left a note at his talk page explaining he's been busy.
Fonzy (talk · contribs · count) - Retired May 2004: "I don't like change much (which some will probably know or guess why). I prefered Wikipedia more when it was smaller and I felt part of a small community, now Wikipedia has got bigger (which is great) but I dont feel as useful, or as important, I just feel like part of a mob." Made last edit on the 26th of that month. Four more edits on November 11, 2007.
Made 3 edits on November 9 2006 to confirm he was the anonymous editor who was instrumental in starting Wikinews. And admitting he had made some anonymous edits to Wikinews during his absence.
Formeruser-81 (talk · contribs · count) - Last edit July 14 2005.
Francs2000 (talk · contribs · count) - Admin and Bureaucrat, left on July 15 2006 following over 38,000 edits, and has not edited since. Is believed though to have made this anonymous edit in December 2006 after being emailed by another user.
Freak104 (talk · contribs · count) - Left 6 February 2008 due to WP:N's effects on comic book articles.
Freakofnurture (talk · contribs · count) - Administrator, stopped editing on November 5 2007; has made some edits in late March 2008.
FuelWagon (talk · contribs · count) - Had over 6000 edits from April 2 to December 23 2005 before receiving a six-month ban from the ArbCom, and has not edited since, even after the expiration of his ban.
Func (talk · contribs · count) - Last edit 10 October 2005. "My apologies, I am away from Wikipedia for an extended period of time." Made two edits on April 11, 2006.

Hapsiainen (talk · contribs · count) - Has been absent from Wikipedia since December 12, 2005. No further explanation. Has made some edits on the Finnish Wikipedia during 2006.
Harry Potter (talk · contribs · count) - Last edit April 10, 2004. Just disappeared.
Havok (talk · contribs · count) - See User:Havok/Liars for details.
Hephaestos (talk · contribs · count) - Administrator. Stopped editing regularly since December 2004, followed by very sporadic editing. Left an unhappy goodbye on his user page on April 2, 2005. Last edit was on February 27, 2007.
Hermione1980 (talk · contribs · count) - Last edit May 7, 2006 due to being grounded for the summer (May to August). She has not returned since.
HighwayCello (talk · contribs · count) - Stated that he felt WikiBonked on November 6, 2006. Ceased editing the next day.
