Jabariya Jodi[2][3] (transl. Forced Couple) is an upcoming Indian romantic comedy film starring Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra. The film is based upon the tradition of groom kidnapping, prevalent in Bihar where grooms are kidnapped in order to prevent dowry.[4][5] The film is co-produced by Ekta Kapoor, Shobha Kapoor and Shailesh. R. Singh and is directed by Prashant Singh.[6][7] The song "Aara Hile, Chapra Hile" from the movie Apne Dam Par will be recreated, and the song “UP Bihar Lootne” from Shool will be recreated by Tanishk Bagchi. Music rights are owned by T-Series alongside Balaji's productions Mental Hai Kya and Dream Girl.

Production
Development
The idea and story of the film conceived by the writer Sanjeev K Jha who is from Bihar and was aware about such forced marriage practice in his state. He was surprised to see the official data that said that more kidnappings happened in Bihar for the purpose of forced marriage than ransom in some recent years. It was an eye-opener for him so he created a love-story using this bizarre practices.[8]
The filming began on August 10, 2018 in Lucknow, Barabanki and Raebareli.[9][10] The first teaser was released by producer Ekta Kapoor on August 11, 2018 on her Twitter account that explained what the title Jabariya Jodi actually means. The 2nd teaser of the film was shared by Sidharth Malhotra on his official Instagram Account on 6 Dec, 2018 announcing the Release Date- 17 May 2019.[11]

The first look of the film was revealed by Ekta Kapoor on her Twitter handle on 19 August 2018. [10][12][13] It showed Parineeti and Sidharth lost in each other but in between them, there is a groom tied and unconscious.The 2nd teaser of the film was shared by Sidharth Malhotra on his official Instagram Account on 6 Dec, 2018 announcing the Release Date- 17 May 2019.[14]
