Speedy deletion declined: Ram Prasad Neupane
Hello Onel5969. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Ram Prasad Neupane, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Jayatu Sanskritam movement appears notable, so leading it is a claim of significance. Thank you. SoWhy 13:05, 5 December 2018 (UTC)

- Thanks again, SoWhy. Will check back on the AfD. To be honest, I missed the link to the actual movement in the body of the article. I was so confused as to how an individual can have "members" (see infobox)… guess I took my eye off the ball. Onel5969 TT me 13:17, 5 December 2018 (UTC)

Atari 2600 Golf
There's a loose standard that 2600 games with name conflicts use the "(Atari 2600)" suffix: Pac-Man (Atari 2600), Adventure (Atari 2600), Midnight Magic (Atari 2600), Miniature Golf (Atari 2600). I moved "Golf (Atari 2600 game)" to "Golf (Atari 2600)" which was an existing redirect page. If this caused a problem, my apologies. Dgpop (talk) 14:31, 10 December 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Dgpop - What you did is called a cut and paste move, which isn't allowed on WP, since it loses the history of the pages. What you need to do is ask for the redirect to be deleted using H7 speedy deletion. In the reason, simply state for a page move to follow naming conventions. Once the redirect is deleted, then "move" the page.Onel5969 TT me 15:10, 10 December 2018 (UTC)

Thanks for reviewing Novosibirsk Capacitor Plant, Onel5969.
Unfortunately Insertcleverphrasehere has just gone over this page again and unreviewed it. Their note is:
If you were not aware, PRODed and CSD tagged articles should not be marked as reviewed, per recent consensus here. Cheers,

— Insertcleverphrasehere (or here)(click me!) 00:42, 12 December 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Insertcleverphrasehere - I did not mark it reviewed, simply tagged it for deletion. If you look at the edit summary as well as the logs, you'll notice that the prod was done simultaneously with the "reviewed". I think I was one of the first editors to agree with the proposal to only mark AfD's. We need to change the curation script. It apparently still automatically marks those pages reviewed if a page reviewer tags them for deletion. I haven't really paid attention to articles I prod (or CSD for that matter) to see if they are marked for review. In the future, I'll check to make sure I unmark them. However, another auto thing with the curation tool, is that it marks those articles to be put on my watchlist. Onel5969 TT me 01:23, 12 December 2018 (UTC)
- Onel5969, Yeah, there is a bug with the curation script. The bug has already been reported. If CSDing or PRODing with page curation, you have to unreview it afterwards. I got Twinkle fixed though, so at least CSDs and PRODS done through twinkle don't get auto-reviewed. — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here)(click me!) 01:27, 12 December 2018 (UTC)

Palaichori Oreinis
Hello. Palaichori Oreinis, which I tried to deal with in September, has reappeared as a content fork copied and pasted from Palaichori. I notice that you're currently in discussion with the same editor on another matter. Any suggestions please? Certes (talk) 00:52, 12 December 2018 (UTC)
- That's a sticky one, Certes - That editor seems to not want to engage in discussions. I'm going to restore the redirect, with a note regarding BRD and disruptive editing. I know there's a policy regarding dupe articles, but I don't have a link for it... any ideas where it is? (by the way, very nice work you do here on WP... can't think of an interaction where I've disagreed with you). Onel5969 TT me 01:27, 12 December 2018 (UTC)
- This editor's been around for almost 10 years. They should know better. Onel5969 TT me 01:31, 12 December 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you for stepping in. My instinct was to do something similar but, as I'd done that before and effectively been reverted, I wanted a second opinion. WP:REDUNDANTFORK may be the nearest we have to a relevant policy.
- I've also admired your quietly competent editing and had to hold myself back from shouting at the admins when you were being unjustly roasted for a few minor disambiguation errors a few months ago. Certes (talk) 11:36, 12 December 2018 (UTC)
- No worries, Certes, and thanks for your kind words. I agree regarding policy with WP:REDUNDANTFORK, but I really think from a process standpoint, we might simply quote WP:A10, which is the speedy deletion criteria dealing with duplicate articles.Onel5969 TT me 12:08, 12 December 2018 (UTC)
- There's a case for A10. (It is technically a "recently created article", although the page has been around for a while.) On the other hand, CSD are about getting rid of a page altogether, but I think we want to speedily replace this article by a redirect, which we can do without needing the admin's mop. Zara Holland
(talk page stalker) Well I have realised myself that nominating the former Miss Great Britain winner and Love Island contestant for deletion was a poor decision making due to my mind being stubborn, since it actually passes WP:BLP and WP:GNG for her Miss Great Britain winner in 2015 only to be stripped the next year, but only thing missing is her birth year despite some well reliable websites stated she was born on 24 August 1995 which is needed to add into her infobox which is needs to be doing. Sheldybett (talk) 00:56, 12 December 2018 (UTC)
- No worries Sheldybett I've made many good faith nominations at AfD which the end result was "keep". But you're a relatively new editor. Don't be afraid to ask other editors for advice. I began editing in earnest in late 2013 (even though I opened the account in 2009), don't know when I nominated my first AfD. You might want to wait a bit. Participate in other AfD's, and watch how other editors make their arguments.Onel5969 TT me 01:52, 12 December 2018 (UTC)
Vandalism on Wikipedia:Short description
Why on earth are you repeatedly vandalising Wikipedia:Short description? You're an established editor and you know very well that it's not a "1980s English post-punk ensemble". One more and I'll take it to ANI. --RexxS (talk) 02:28, 12 December 2018 (UTC)
- Hi RexxS - And thanks for your wonderful example of AGF. Not sure what happened there, was adding a short description to The Folk Devils. Must have accidently clicked on the line above the "Missing article description (Add)", and then added it. But in checking that option out, it leads you to the template, which I made no changes to. So I must have clicked on the "article description", and added it there. Didn't realize the error until your very civil reply and use of the term "vandalism". My apologies and thanks for your civility. Onel5969 TT me 02:39, 12 December 2018 (UTC)
- You're welcome, but it wouldn't have turned out that way if you hadn't edit-warred your mistake back in again as soon as I fixed it. [1], [2]. Do you normally just re-revert any reversion without bothering to check, or did you accidentally click on the line above for a second time? Put yourself in my place and see how much AGF that generates. --RexxS (talk) 13:59, 12 December 2018 (UTC)
- No, I still had the original article page up and couldn't understand why you would revert a short description. But your use of terms like vandalism, and "edit warring" for a single revert, show your lack of AGF. Take care. Onel5969 TT me 14:02, 12 December 2018 (UTC)

NPR Newsletter No.16 15 December 2018
Hello Onel5969,
- Reviewer of the Year
This year's award for the Reviewer of the Year goes to Onel5969. Around on Wikipedia since 2011, their staggering number of 26,554 reviews over the past twelve months makes them, together with an additional total of 275,285 edits, one of Wikipedia's most prolific users.
- Thanks are also extended for their work to JTtheOG (15,059 reviews), Boleyn (12,760 reviews), Cwmhiraeth (9,001 reviews), Semmendinger (8,440 reviews), PRehse (8,092 reviews), Arthistorian1977 (5,306 reviews), Abishe (4,153 reviews), Barkeep49 (4,016 reviews), and Elmidae (3,615 reviews).
Cwmhiraeth, Semmendinger, Barkeep49, and Elmidae have been New Page Reviewers for less than a year — Barkeep49 for only seven months, while Boleyn, with an edit count of 250,000 since she joined Wikipedia in 2008, has been a bastion of New Page Patrol for many years.
See also the list of top 100 reviewers.
- Less good news, and an appeal for some help
The backlog is now approaching 5,000, and still rising. There are around 640 holders of the NPR flag, most of whom appear to be inactive. The 10% of the reviewers who do 90% of the work could do with some support especially as some of them are now taking a well deserved break.
- Really good news - NPR wins the Community Wishlist Survey 2019
At #1 position, the Community Wishlist poll closed on 3 December with a resounding success for NPP, reminding the WMF and the volunteer communities just how critical NPP is to maintaining a clean encyclopedia and the need for improved tools to do it. A big 'thank you' to everyone who supported the NPP proposals. See the results.
- Training video
Due to a number of changes having been made to the feed since this three-minute video was created, we have been asked by the WMF for feedback on the video with a view to getting it brought up to date to reflect the new features of the system. Please leave your comments here, particularly mentioning how helpful you find it for new reviewers.

Shouldn't the history of Jim Ward (quarterback) prior to the un-redirecting on November 11 be at Jim Ward? I've noticed this IP doing this with many other old re-directs. Hi
Hi Onel5969 - thanks for reviewing all my recent stuff. Perhaps you might consider nominating me at Wikipedia:Requests for permissions/Autopatrolled? I did recently put myself forward but was unfortunate to happen upon a jobsworth. I don't suppose it makes too much difference, but as you can see I have created loads more than 25 articles and am familiar with all the policies. It might save the likes of your good self some time going forward. Kind regards, Bring back Daz Sampson (talk) 19:11, 29 December 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Bring back Daz Sampson - while I haven't had an issue with the articles you've created, the same issue which that admin brought up still exists. I don't necessarily agree with your assessment of their request of you. The issue they expressed still exists. Now, I don't necessarily agree with them asking the question and then only giving you slightly over 2 days to respond, especially since you only had 2 edits during that timeframe, so you weren't very active. But they declined your request due to your lack of response, which I can definitely see. Over at NPP, we've just had an editor of long-standing stripped of their autoconfirmed rights due to a seeming lack of understanding of some basic concepts regarding the importance of footnotes. You still have less than 80 page creations, and they are still all involving soccer players/soccer stuff. Bottom line is that I've nominated anyone for autopatroller status. While you specialize in soccer stuff, it might do you well to do a few articles in other areas, just to show you have a broader depth of knowledge regarding WP rules.Onel5969 TT me 21:26, 30 December 2018 (UTC)

Hello, Onel5969, I now see that the article for one Frank Adonis has previously been deleted. I apologize for undoing your edit in my ignorance. However, I was wondering if there was the possibility of reopening the discussion for keep vs. delete, if I can find additional information to meet Wikipedia's expectations. Thanks! -Jmanlucas —Preceding undated comment added 06:50, 30 December 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Jmanlucas - and no worries. We all miss things at times. The actor clearly doesn't meet WP:NACTOR, so you'd have to find enough to have him pass WP:GNG. This means finding at least 3 in-depth references to him in independent, reliable sources. I have a pretty broad acceptance of film-related articles, and when I did my search back during the AfD, I simply couldn't find enough to warrant a keep !vote. If you can find that type of sourcing, that would be the way to go. If you do, recreate the article, and leave a message on the talk page, detailing the new, in-depth sourcing. Hope this helps. It is an alternative organisation to teaching unions in England and Wales. I don't have a vested interest in the organisation and I'm not promoting, simply creating it as it doesn't exist on Wikipedia at the moment.

- Hi Neopeius. First, thanks for your kind words. Second, short descriptions (SDs) were introduced mainly for the benefit of readers searching for articles in mobile view, where an SD appears beneath each title listed in search results. Originally they were all drawn from the Wikidata "description" field. But many of those are unsuitable in various ways, and all are potentially subject to damaging edits which we might not quickly spot. So the SD script was developed, and we're slowly chugging away at getting them filled. You can find out more at Wikipedia:Short description, and its accompanying talk page. - Thanks Jovanmilic97 - Just responded there. AfD's are not supposed to be votes, which is one reason while comments there are called !votes. Clearly in my mind, the coverage did not rise to meet WP:SIGCOV or WP:GNG, and the keep !votes, imho, failed to make a coherent argument. I think that's how this one was spotted. You don't have to clean complex cases like this one, but do report them at WP:CP for investigation. Copyvio should be unambiguous for speedy deletion
Re List of World Heritage Sites in Southeast Asia and List of World Heritage sites in Cambodia. The edit summary "Separate World Heritage sites in Cambodia from Southeast Asia" should have been a good clue that the material was copied from within Wikipedia. Just because an outside wiki also had similar content is not a reason to assume it came from there. And you didn't notice the correct creator. So, while there may be a problem of attribution, speedy deletion is not an appropriate response. Please be more circumspect in what you call unambiguous copyvio. Dicklyon (talk) 17:14, 12 January 2019 (UTC)
- Dicklyon - Didn't really care about the edit summary. While there are times I miss a copyvio tag which is due to a mirror site, this is not one of those times. Sometimes I will delete the offending copyvio, and request a revdel, but in this case, the copyvio was so extensive, I felt deleting the entire article was warranted. Please be more circumspect in leaving accusatory messages. Take care. Onel5969 TT me 18:27, 12 January 2019 (UTC)

- Don't really care what you like. If you're going to be uncivil, don't write on my page again. We went through an AfD, wasting the time of numerous editors, just to show you that the information in those types of articles is trivial and non-notable. This is an encyclopedia, not a fan magazine. Had hoped you would take the initiative and do the redirects yourself, but to no avail. You could include a paragraph on each in the target's redirect, but a separate article simply won't meet notability criteria. If you wish to add the material, it's not erased, simply look at the article's history and you can pull any relevant info from there. Onel5969 TT me 17:43, 13 January 2019 (UTC)

- Hi Farjj, this is from the guidelines regarding article deletions: "Articles that have been deleted in the past generally should not be re-created unless the reason for deletion is specifically addressed (for information on determining the reason why the page was deleted, see Wikipedia:Why was the page I created deleted?). If the article was deleted at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, you should read the full deletion discussion before re-creating. Articles that are re-created without any substantial changes can be re-deleted immediately (see CSD G4). This applies regardless of whether you wrote the original article. If you are uncertain whether your new article will adequately address the original reasons for deletion, you may wish to create a draft version of it in your sandbox and then request feedback at deletion review." revdel of Henry E. Noyes
Hi, this doesn't appear to be a copyvio as the online content is a straightforward reproduction of Cullum's Register - this volume of which was published in 1891 so it's well out of copyright by now. Even the supplements quoted are pre-1924 so again copyright expired. It's a separate issue but I quite agree with removing the material as being difficult to read etc. Nthep (talk) 16:20, 18 January 2019 (UTC)
- Hi Nthep - Thanks for the follow-up. I looked at the source, and saw that it was copyrighted material, without understanding that they had taken it from somewhere else. I saw you placed a suggestion on my page about converting the page to prose. I am not convinced I want to do this because I think this article is right in the middle of pros and lists. (Also in the near future images will be added). Would like to keep it as it is. Is that also oke?
If so, how do I remove the suggestion on top of the page?
Thanks for checking it by the way
Sincerely,
MarqyF --MarqyF (talk) 13:55, 22 January 2019 (UTC)
- Hi MarqyF -- almost always prose is preferred over list. The major exceptions are when you have something like a filmography in a bio. In this case, the Education, Academic and Professional experience should almost certainly be converted. Wikipedia has a policy called WP:NOTRESUME, and this would fall under that category. The Awards and publications lists are fine to remain that way, although the awards needs to be trimmed to about half its size... get rid of all the non-notable awards. Hope this helps. Onel5969 TT me 14:11, 23 January 2019 (UTC)
Hi One15969,
Thank you for your reply. I understand what you mean, but it will take me some time to re-write the texts. I hope that's oke. Kind regards, MarqyF (talk) 17:39, 25 January 2019 (UTC)
Ps: if you maybe have an example page that is concert good prose while also summing up things I would me much obliged MarqyF (talk) 17:51, 25 January 2019 (UTC)
Hi One15969,
I changed the lists into prose and trimmed the Awards to only notable awards. If oke by you, can de suggestion on top of the page be removed?
Thank you! MarqyF (talk) 12:56, 29 January 2019 (UTC)
- Hi MarqyF - nice job. Removed the tag, but had to tag it with another one. While you have references, you are very light on footnotes. Footnotes help researchers understand where the different facts in the article come from. One of the knocks on WP is that so much stuff on here is inaccurate. Footnotes help dispel that notion. Keep up the good work.Onel5969 TT me 13:04, 29 January 2019 (UTC)
Hi One15969, Thanks for your reply. I understand what you are saying about the footnotes, but the point is that next to the articles I refer to, the rest of the information is gathered by reading (unpublished) writings of Albert Szabo himself given to me by his heirs. I also talked to these heirs, also representatives of The Albert Szabo and Brenda Dyer Szabo Collection. I cannot really 'footnote' this because it is not-published information. How do you suggest I tackle this one? Sincere, MarqyF (talk) 13:31, 29 January 2019 (UTC)
- Hi MarqyF - Now that's a problem. Please see WP:OR. This is a huge no-no on Wikipedia. You must remove any information which does not come from a reliable, secondary source. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a research journal. Onel5969 TT me 15:18, 29 January 2019 (UTC)
Hi One15969,
No, that is not what I mean. The information is all correct. I mean more that the summing up came from himself, he ordered it chronologically, but he actually was wat the article says, and all the experiences/awards etc are true. My point is: do I have to link to every education he did? Every position he had? I've seen many Wikipedia pages where it says 'mr x studied there and there', had a career there and there, with no reference whatsoever. So what do I do to make it right? MarqyF (talk) 15:50, 29 January 2019 (UTC)
MarqyF (talk) 15:50, 29 January 2019 (UTC)
- Hi MarqyFFirst, don't go by what other articles do or don't do, that's called an other stuff exists argument. Just because an article exists on Wikipedia does not mean it is necessarily a good model to base a new article on. Wikipedia is monitored by volunteers, so it's not unusual for an inappropriate article, or more frequently stuff included in an article, to slip through the cracks. Remember, a core principle of Wikipedia is that any information which is not cited can be removed immediately. If all the information in a single paragraph came from a single source, than a single footnote at the end of the paragraph is okay. But if the assertions come from disparate sources, then you need to footnote each fact. If you can't put a footnote to something, from a reliable source, it should be removed. Usually there is a bio page on these notable folks that you can link to which will cover the education/positions/awards. Again, anything you can't footnote should be removed. And finally, be aware that what I outline above is what I like to call best practices (which I base on what an article would go through in going for GA or FA status). You could walk away from the article right now, it's tagged for more footnotes, and other editors may (or may not) work on it. I just want to make sure that you haven't included original research in the article, that everything in the article came from the 3 sources listed at the bottom as references. Anything not in those 3 sources should be removed.Onel5969 TT me 16:00, 29 January 2019 (UTC)

Re-examine an article?
Hi! You'd moved a student's work to the draftspace at Draft:Under the Feet of Jesus (novel). I've done some retooling and wanted to know if you could move it live. I'd move it live myself except that I oversaw the student's course and as such, I don't think it's appropriate to move their work out of AfC. - Hi ReaderofthePack- It looks like Bkissin has already very appropriately moved it into the mainspace. I've reviewed it, so it's good to go. Thanks for the effort. Onel5969 TT me 01:34, 25 January 2019 (UTC)

Draft:Frederick William Stellhorn
The Stellhorn article is ready to go into the main article space now. However, given your interest in the article I am starting a discussion here.
Rationale that it is ready: 1. It was never threatened with deletion in the first place, nor submitted for AfC as best as I can tell. It doesn't absolutely need to go through AfC. 2. In the last few weeks since you said it was under sourced, another user formatted the sources properly 3. You claimed that there were "virtually no independent sources"--this is too vague. Specifically, sources two and four are independent. The rest of the sources came from the denomination he was a leader in, or from a merged denomination that later included the body. Source one does not establish notability, but source four is from a Christian-topical encyclopedia--a tertiary source, and it is from a different denomination than the one that holds him as a leader. That is enough to establish notability. It is my understanding that general non-Lutheran protestant references from his lifetime to his theology/or to him do exist. I went and added one of them, so that would be source 9. It is an original book review by a third party reviewer of one of the Stellhorn's more significant books.
I am not a member of, or have I ever been, a member of a denomination that promotes Stellhorn or his theology. Nor am I paid by any Lutheran denomination. If you have some compelling reason it must stay in draft, let me know.--Epiphyllumlover (talk) 21:39, 25 January 2019 (UTC)
- Correction, another user did submit it to AfC six days ago. I had not noticed this. Still, I would like to know if you will object to me moving directly it back do main article space if the person who submitted it is okay with that, too.--Epiphyllumlover (talk) 21:44, 25 January 2019 (UTC)

- Hi Lithopsian - any particular reason?Onel5969 TT me 22:05, 27 January 2019 (UTC)
- No?!? I can only imagine edits got crossed. I reverted an edit back to a redirect and intended to curate the redirect. It has since been converted back to an article, so the point is probably moot. Lithopsian (talk) 22:12, 27 January 2019 (UTC)
- Hi again, Lithopsian - not sure if it's moot. I felt that the article had been split from another article (with abbreviated, but attribution), after it had originally been merged into the other article. In most cases, I would agree with restoring the redirect, however, in this instance most species deserve their own article. It has been restored as an article, but if you feel there is an overwhelming reason not to have a separate article, I'd love to hear them.Onel5969 TT me 22:18, 27 January 2019 (UTC)
- I'm on the fence. At the time that I reverted, the article was simply an un-merge of the original short stub, so it was obvious to undo. Since then it has been much expanded and probably stands well as a separate article, although there is still duplication where it was previously merged to Dolichorhynchops. Species are generally considered notable enough for their own article, but this one is both extinct and dubious so there is certainly an argument to keep it merged. The previous merge was apparently not discussed, but also not disputed. Possibly a close connection to the subject, possibly merits discussion. Lithopsian (talk) 15:33, 28 January 2019 (UTC)

Hello! Why "Simply does not meet notability criteria."? Marcio is Brazilian curling champion, member of national teams, participant of at least five top-level world tournaments (3 World championships an 2 World Cup legs). Torsten Grönfors
His name is spelled wrong it is "Thorsten", as you can see in all provided links and sources. So why delete? Emanuelkarlsten (talk) 14:20, 8 February 2019 (UTC)
- Then you have to "move" the article, so that its editing history is maintained. What you did was a WP:CUTANDPASTE move, which loses attribution. If you can't move the article because there is an existing page which is blocking the move (in this case, possible the redirect?), then you have to request the blocking page be deleted so you can move the page. Here are my reasons to keep Tom Crowder's article:
- He was an important player for his college and high school, both in football and track.
- He played in NFL Europe.
- He did play 2 games in the NFL, although most of his time was spent on the practice squad.

Reverting Copy/Paste Move
Hello, why did you revert me on First Shō Dynasty, House of First Shō, Second Shō Dynasty, and House of Second Shō? I was moving them due to a poor translation to English, I left an edit description saying what I was doing, and I left the copy/paste template on all the talk pages. ミーラー強斗武 (StG88ぬ会話) 18:27, 23 February 2019 (UTC)
- Hi Sturmgewehr88 - What you did is called a "cut and paste move". Please read WP:CUTANDPASTE. When you do that, you lose the history of the article's attribution, which is against WP's rules. You must instead "move" the page, which keeps the history. If yo can't move it (for instance, if there is a redirect blocking the move), you must request the blocking page be deleted as per WP:G6, a housekeeping move, and simply state that you wish it deleted in order to move a page. Hope this helps. Onel5969 TT me 18:33, 23 February 2019 (UTC)

Hey you sent this page back to draft claiming not enough footnotes. Draft:Nicholas_Sneathen. "Footnotes" are not required for referencing as you know and this page has 12 well formated refs (I know, I formated them). Please move back. Legacypac (talk) 19:16, 23 February 2019 (UTC)
- Hi Legacypac - while not required, they should be there. Without them, an article of that length isn't ready for mainspace. In addition, without those footnotes it is difficult to ascertain the notability of the subject. BTW, thanks for all you do over at AfC. I feel topic is notable even just because so much can be written about someone who died so long ago, but if you feel strongly otherwise AfD is available. Thank you for keeping an eye on Indy Lights etc. Do you think it's worth a visit to WP:AN/3RR or shall we wait and see if our IP friend responds on the talk page first? Technically, the last round of edits are from a different address, but it's within the same /64 (i.e. typically allocated by the ISP to the same customer), and has an unmistakable quack. Good work on Dabs, btw. Have you ever thought about doing more article creation? That way you could get autopatrolled, and then perhaps help out over at NPP. You have a good eye. Onel5969 TT me 21:00, 23 February 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks but I'm not sure I'm cut out for NPP. I'm an inclusionist, and many would consider me too soft in allowing new articles. Whilst I appreciate everyone's work in signing off my page creations, it's up to the NPP team to set autopatrolling criteria which fit their work patterns, rather than for individuals to game the system by artificially inflating their statistics. They could consider manually granting autopatrolled to everyone who's created, say, 1000 pages if that helps reduce their workload. Certes (talk) 21:17, 23 February 2019 (UTC)
- I see that a discussion I started has attracted a !vote. The comment may be a little light on reasoned argument and policy references, but it's good to see a brand new editor find their way around Wikipedia so quickly. Certes (talk) 18:14, 25 February 2019 (UTC)
It finally came to me
Hello O. I know you've been working away adding "short description" tags to the 'pedia. Something about them kept rattling around in my memory. Today I finally remembered the "Persondata" section that was at the bottom of our biography articles. It seems that if you edit here long enough everything old is new again :-) Cheers. MarnetteD|Talk 21:17, 24 February 2019 (UTC)
- It's not that I seek them out, but my WP philosophy is do what you can when you can. So, since there is a movement to put these on every wikipage to assist mobile users, it doesn't take much effort to do. If I can't figure out how to succinctly state a description of the article, I simply take a pass.Onel5969 TT me 03:49, 25 February 2019 (UTC)
- A good and useful WP philosophy. I went searching and found that persondata was deprecated almost four years ago - hmmm I thought it was more recent - dratted dusty old memory banks. Have a pleasant week. MarnetteD|Talk 05:13, 25 February 2019 (UTC)
Unreviewed C-class article
Hi, since you marked a recent stub of mine as reviewed, I wonder if you would be good enough to do the same for a C-class article that has been sitting in unreviewed limbo for over a month: Anna Maria Erdődy. I can find no good reason why it should have been 'passed over' in this way and left unreviewed... Thanks for your consideration and help. Alphaten (talk) 12:43, 26 February 2019 (UTC)
- Alphaten - Patience is a virtue... . Your article wasn't "passed over". Currently the backlog at NPP goes back to December. It's not unusual for an article to sit in the queue for a few months. But it was a nice article, keep up the good work.Onel5969 TT me 12:51, 26 February 2019 (UTC)

Re: Discord (album)
Hello, I was unsure if I should reply on my talk page or yours, so I thought yours would most likely be best. I also apologize for the lack of formatting in my first e-mail (I was on mobile, and my mobile is very old, I was unsure if it would use any type of code).
I tried to read the WP:NALBUM article you linked, and I have difficulty understanding it 100%. Either way, I don't see why the album does not meet the requirements as the article I wrote followed exactly as another article of a different album produced by that artist. So I think it's notability is in check. Because I copied the formatting of a different article to ensure accuracy (and a higher chance of approval) what about it made it a stub?
Also, the ways I've seen for making a new article all consist of "searching for the topic and choosing the red link to create it if it does not show up" but I cannot do this for this album as "Disorder (album)" (which would be the articles name) is taken as a redirect. Since I am not of higher status on Wikipedia, I cannot delete a redirect. I am a little frustrated as what I want to do is simple and inline with guidelines and such, but seem to be going in a circle. I'd like to ask for help.
Also, I apologize if I sound angry or agitated, it's mainly at my own self for not being able to fully understand and utilize the site. None towards you. --CresentCross (talk) 07:43, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
- Hi CresentCross - First, it's common practice to keep conversations together, so you could've responded on your talk page, but we can continue talking here. Regarding other articles being like the one you created, that's called "other stuff exists". That's a very good practice for when you are first starting to create articles. However, WP is run by volunteers, so there's a lot of crap out there, which isn't really up to encyclopedic standards. The fact of it being a stub is simply the amount of info contained in the article. Third, I never said the album wasn't notable, simply that the article didn't show it met the notability standards. For example, if an article didn't exist about Ronald Reagan, I could write a one-line stub which says "Ronald Reagan was an American politician." Now, there's no doubt Reagan is notable, but the article I wrote doesn't show how he is notable. The article you wrote suffers from the same issue. It may be notable, but you didn't say how or why it meets any of the 7 criteria in WP:NALBUM. Your article simply cited discogs, which shows the album exists, but doesn't show notability. Look at those 7 criteria, see which one(s) the album meets, then add those to the article. Also, you'll need to add a footnote to show where you got the information. Finally, the last thing is that you might consider simply working on existing articles for a while, until you get used to WP, rather than jumping right in on article creation. Regardless, don't hesitate to ask for help.Onel5969 TT me 11:27, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
- Onel5656 - I understand for the most part what you are saying (also I apologize, I didn't mean for it to sound like you said it's not notable, I meant in general) I copied the format from this exact article of an album by the same artist. I can't see almost any difference between that article and mine. I used the same first sentence and replaced the key information. Also, I am not entirely sure how/what "to cite" or "footnote" means. My understanding was that they were somewhat synonymous. I added a reference because I thought that'd help with it's notability/approval. I also don't really know where to fill that information, I would have when following the other albums format, but I didn't see anything of it. Can I use the same link as the cite and footnote? Can the artists official discography website be used as a cite? Also, again, I did try to read the article you linked about notability, but I find it hard to understand unfortunately. This is also why I ask for your help, to maybe put some things in lameman's terms.
- If I made a draft of the article in my sandbox, would you be able to point things out? So that when it's in a likely to be approved state, it can be copy and pasted to make the real article?
- Also, I use the Fandom wiki (not sure if you've heard of it or seen it's layout and use of HTML) so I am much more familiar with that when it comes to practice and codes. But I am aware that it's mostly a watered-down version of WP. But it did allow me to become familiarized with codes, therefore the start to WP was a little less jarring. --CresentCross (talk) 11:25, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
- Hi again CresentCross - sorry to take so long to respond, but real life got in the way, and I wanted to answer you in-depth. First, citations and footnotes are similar, but not identical. Citations, also called references, are listed at the end of the article. Footnotes are annotated within the body of the article, and then also appear at the end of the article. There are various ways this occurs. Most editors label the footnotes section, "References", I think mainly because what goes there is the {{reflist}} template, which automatically collects and numbers the footnotes. In many articles, this is the only section for references. In addition to the footnotes, some editors then list other source material in this section, either before or after the footnotes. Some editors break these additional sources into a separate section, titled "Bibliography", or "Additional references". Other editors will label the section with the reflist "Footnotes", and the additional ref section, "References". It's just a matter of personal preference. Personally, I use the "References" for the footnotes, and "Additional references" for the other. In addition to those, there is also a section called "External links". You can read about what goes there at WP:EL. Regarding formatting them, it's easy once you get the hang of it.
- The issue with your article was that it didn't establish notability. WP:NALBUMS is what is known as a "specialty notability", also known as "SN". These are notability criteria outside of WP:GNG, which are specific to different types of articles. This was done because it was realized that there might be some notable subjects which couldn't reach the GNG threshold. For example, certain academics are considered automatically notable if they meet certain criteria, but might not have enough independent coverage to pass GNG. Same thing with Albums. Here's my take on the 7 specialty criteria:
- 1 Has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable, not self-published, and are independent from the musician or ensemble who created it.
- This criterion includes published works in all forms, such as newspaper articles, books, magazine articles, online versions of print media, and television documentaries[note 1] except for the following:
- 1 Any reprints of press releases, other publications where the musician or ensemble talks about the recording, and all advertising that mentions the recording, including manufacturers' advertising.
- 2 Articles in a school or university newspaper (or similar), in most cases. - to me, this is redundant, as it seems to be simply the same thing as wp:gng.
- 2 The single or album has appeared on any country's national music chart. - This does not mean any chart, but the national chart of a country, which would be the Billboard chart in the U.S. or the Oricon chart in Japan.
- The recording has been certified gold or higher in at least one country. - This one is pretty self-explanatory, has the record been certified as Gold, Platinum or silver, see: Music recording certification#Certification thresholds
- The recording has won or been nominated for a major music award, such as a Grammy, Juno, Mercury, Choice or Grammis award. - Again, self explanatory, if the album has won one of these awards, it's notable.
- The recording was performed in a medium that is notable, e.g., a theme for a network television show, performance in a television show or notable film, inclusion on a notable compilation album, etc. (But if this is the only claim, it is probably more appropriate to have a mention in the main article and redirect to that article. Read the policy and notability guideline on subjects notable only for one event, for further clarifications). - This one, imho, is the most problematic, as this is the most subjective. For example if "I'll Be There for You" had not reached #1 in Canada, and wasn't a platinum album, it would still be notable for being the theme of a long-running notable television show. However, the theme from The Wiggles, might not be deemed notable.
- The recording was in rotation nationally by a major radio or music television network. - I actually can't help you with this one, as I have never come upon an album which fits this criteria.
- The recording has been a featured subject of a substantial broadcast segment across a national radio or TV network. - I actually can't help you with this one, as I have never come upon an album which fits this criteria.
- Finally, yes, I'd be willing to help you develop the article in your sandbox, and this can be where you figure out citations/footnotes. Simply shoot me a message here to take a look and I will. Onel5969 TT me 17:07, 4 March 2019 (UTC)

Reinstating the article Pannonian Romance
Dear Onel5969,
I am recreated the article Pannonian Romance, in accordance to Wikipedia:Guide_to_deletion for several reasons and I intend to clean it up a bit, please do not revert back to a redirect. The deletion discussion reached no consensus, one editor was for deletion, two for keep, and three for redirecting, of the proposed redirections one was for Pannonia, one was for History of Romanian and one was for Keszthely culture. The first redirect was to History of Romanian but that was later changed to Keszthely culture. I disagree with both redirects, History of Romanian has very limited information on Pannonian Romance, and Keszthely culture omits the use of the language in other settlements in other parts of Pannonia, this was not a language that was used by just one single settlement. The editor who saw a consensus reached should have updated the redirect articles to include the information of the closed article. The editors that discussed if the article should be deleted, redirected or kept, had not contributed or had only contributed very little to the article. The main contributing editors of the article did not partake in the discussion. The counterpart to this article exists in five other languages Asturianu, Español, Français, Italiano and Latina. The article is missing some citations but it is not void of citations. --Alternative Transport (talk) 08:38, 2 March 2019 (UTC)
- Hi Alternative Transport - By doing that your action overturned the consensus of the discussion. Regardless of whether or not your personally feel there wasn't a consensus, the closing editor clearly did, and in reviewing the discussion, I would agree with them. The fact that an article on this topic exists in other Wikis is irrelevant. With the exception of one or two wikis, all other wikis have lower criteria for notability than English wiki does.Onel5969 TT me 13:43, 2 March 2019 (UTC)
- Dear Onel5969, The previous discussion were not about the notability, but if it was properly cited and/or if it was speculation. Smaller and less notable dialects and historic languages have their own English Wikipedia article. The article was reinstated in 2009 and stayed up for 8 years. During that period numerous editors improved it and added citations. I will join the AfD discussion.Alternative Transport (talk) 15:01, 2 March 2019 (UTC)

What We Must
I've read WP:NALBUM and I still don't understand why you've reverted my edition. As I'm beginner here, could you simply explain to me why Jaga Jazzist debut album is ok and my edtion of "What We Must" is not? Niegodzisie (talk) 22:36, 3 March 2019 (UTC)
- Hi Niegodzisie - WP is run by volunteers, so a lot of stuff gets put on here which doesn't really belong. Your argument is what is known as other stuff exists, and isn't really a strong argument most of the time. In fact, however, you are correct and there is very little difference between the stub you created and the other album, so I've redirected the other album as well. Now, that does not mean that neither album is not notable, simply that in both articles there is nothing which shows how it is notable, simply that it exists. For a discussion on notability, see WP:NALBUMS. Also, a couple of sections above, I go in-depth about the notability criteria for albums. Hope this helps. Onel5969 TT me 17:16, 4 March 2019 (UTC)

Advice Needed
Hi there. I am kinda new here and I am trying to learn about Wikipedia standards of approval of an article. Recently I've been working with few draft to check my understanding and I'm a bit confused here. I tried to clean up this page by adding sources, infobox, proper structure that we follow on Wikipedia. The sources added were quite notable and authentic (Telegraaf, NU.nl). But for some reason it's been reverted back to draft. Just curious what more it needs to get approved. I've list of round about 10 dutch actors on which I would like to work. Thank you for your attention.Lunar Clock (talk) 14:49, 4 March 2019 (UTC)
- Hi Lunar Clock - There are two issues with the article, first, it does not appear that this actor meets WP:NACTOR, not having had significant roles in two notable productions. In this instance, I think it might be a case of WP:TOOSOON. His one significant role to date is in a film which might not meet WP's notability criteria. And having a significant role in a single episode of a series also probably doesn't qualify. While the sourcing is from reliable sources, they are little more than glorified press releases, announcing that so and so is in such and such production, so he doesn't appear to pass WP:GNG either. I notice that it was going through the AfC process, and after it had been declined, you got involved and made your changes. Then you simply moved it to the mainspace, rather than letting it be reviewed again. You probably should let it run through AfC after you do more work on it. Hope this helps.Onel5969 TT me 17:40, 4 March 2019 (UTC)

- Okay, NorthPark1417, I've researched it, and several other editors have looked into it as well. There are quite a few guidelines and policies which deal with this. The primary ones are MOS:TITLE, WP:MOSTM, WP:BANDNAME, WP:NCCAPS and MOS:TITLECAPS. You can look at all of those, but the best example is in the Trademark guideline (MOSTM). There it gives the most clear guidance on the subject, pointing to Time magazine, which is stylized TIME, and to the band Kiss, which is stylized KISS. This latter one gives the clear understanding how to treat these band and album titles. 23:42, 5 March 2019 (UTC)

Rush songs
Hi, User:Bulletsaregone has been creating a lot of articles for Rush songs, some of which are at new titles for previously redirected articles (eg. Distant Early Warning (Rush Song) and Distant Early Warning (song)). In this specific example, I noticed you redirected the attempts to recreate the article at the proper title, which is why they may be trying to circumvent that by creating at a different title altogether. Anyway, after seeing a bunch of these being created of late, it makes me wonder if this editor and User:Danieleb82 are one and the same. They've returned numerous times with new user names, only to be blocked, and the focus is always on classic rock songs and albums. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 22:01, 5 March 2019 (UTC)
