    Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars.     After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

    Indefinite semi-protection or Indefinite pending changes. This biographical article of a current major sports franchise had semi-protection removed recently for unknown reasons. Before semi-protection was removed, this article met the Good Article Criteria. Today, however, it has been vandalized several times, and there have been over 100 edits to the page (most from IP edits). This makes keeping track of changes and vandalism extremely difficult. Considering that this article deals with a sports franchise that is either loved or hated by millions of people, not enabling indefinite semi-protection would put the article's "Good Article" status in serious jeopardy.     Thank-you for your speedy response. Is there any way to make the semi-protection indefinite? Or to set protection further into the season? If you look at the article's public log, you'll see that this is an on-going problem. This isn't a request as a preemptive measure, this is an article that is about a sports franchise that meets the criteria for indefinite protection. Any suggestions for a possible more permanent solution would also be much appreciated. And thank-you again for your quick response. You have been most helpful.
