Baranagar Road railway station is the railway station in the city of Baranagar. It serves the local areas of Baranagar in North 24 Parganas district, West Bengal, India.

History

Chord link line was opened in 1865 and converted to electrification in 1965,[4] On that time the Freight Services was passed on this line which was profitable for railways and the EMU trains also runs on this line for connecting to chord line to Howrah for plying long-distance trains. But due to passenger demand was increased for long-distance trains start from Sealdah to pass through to this line and connects to the rest of India.

Station complex

The station complex is overall clean, porters/escalators, foods are available. There are excellent transport systems are available–Belghoria Expressway is beside the station and Barrackpore Trunk Road is under the station. There are also good lodging system and excellent railfanning systems are available in station complex. Sightseeing of this station is excellent.[5]

Electrification

The Sealdah–Dankuni sector was electrified in 1964–65.[4]

It is connected with Baranagar metro station (under construction) of Kolkata Metro Line 1 and Kolkata Metro Line 5 .

Belghoria Expressway beside railway station

This station is connected with B. T. Road and Belghoria Expressway. Bus transport Various buses serve the station.

Auto

Several auto services are available on B. T. Road towards Sodepur, Dakshineswar, Sinthee.
