On 24 April 2021, a fire at a hospital in Baghdad, Iraq.[1]The fire left at least 82 people dead and at least 110 were injured.[2][3][4]
On the evening of 24 April 2021, an explosion caused a fire to break out in the intensive care unit of the Ibn Khatib hospital in Baghdad, Iraq.[3][4] During the night, the fire spread to multiple floors.[4] Eighty-two people died as a result of the fire, including some patients who had to be taken off ventilators to move them away from the fire.[4] A hundred and ten other people were injured.[3][4]
Iraq is badly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, with over a million cases recorded.[3][4]
