Sayyid Hashem Bathaie Golpayegani (Persian: سید هاشم بطحایی گلپایگانی; 1941 – 16 March 2020) was a Grand Ayatollah and a representative of the Tehran Province in Iran's Assembly of Experts.[1] He was also a Sayyid, studied in the Qom Seminary, and was lectured by Ruhollah Khomeini and other ayatollahs.

Bathaie ran under the People's Experts and the Friends of Moderation electoral list in the 2016 Iranian Assembly of Experts election.

On 15 March 2020, the Al Arabiya English reported that he had been infected with SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes coronavirus disease 2019.[2] On 16 March, Golpayegani died from the infection.[3][4]
