The Visalia Mall is an enclosed shopping mall located in Visalia, California.
Description
The Visalia Mall is anchored by Macy's[1] and J. C. Penney.[2]
History
The Visalia Mall was the first enclosed shopping mall in California when it opened in 1964.[3]
In September 1997, the mall finished its $30 million renovation. This added a 450-seat food court, an additional 38,000 sq ft (3,500 m2) of space and a 3 story parking garage.[4]
The mall was acquired in 1988 by Newman Brettin Properties.[5] In 1997 it was purchased by JP Realty Inc. of Salt Lake City.[6] The current owner is General Growth Properties.
The mall competes with nearby Sequoia Mall, which is, for the most part, a dead mall. The Sequoia Mall is home to Sears and Hobby Lobby
