Human Rights Activists

  • Alan Berkman ?
  • Rufina Amaya -- virtually the sole survivor of the 1981 El Mozote massacre, Ms. Amaya became a human rights activist through her courageous determination in the face of enormous countervailing pressures to let the world know what had happened at El Mozote and to force the El Salvadoran government to acknowledge and take responsibility for the attrocities. It was her lone determined voice that ultimately gained for the victims and the Salvadoran people official international recognition of the massacre as well as official UN sanctioning of the government of El Salvador for human rights abuse. She continued throughout the remainder of her life to speak out fearlessly against human rights abuses through the countless retellings, interviews and testimonies she provided regarding the massacre, and also through her involvement in Comunidad Segundo Montes (see [86] and

[87]) and the War-Wounded Association (ALGES) of Morozan (again see [88] and also [89]).

  • Morris B. Abram UN Watch Founder, Victorious Lawyer in Supreme Court's "One Man, One Vote" ruling
  • Norma Becker - co-founder of the War Resisters League, leading activist in the American civil rights movement and the Anti-Vietnam War movement; passed away in 2006
  • [[Ruby Hurley]-opened the firs permanent NAACP office in the deep South in Birmingham, Alabama, in 1951.

  • Institute for Motivational Research - Founded by Ernest Dichter, place where the focus group was created.
  • The Institute for the Advanced Study of Human Sexuality - accredited graduate school in San Francisco, see [99]. Purportedly has the world's largest collection of pornography.
  • Intellectual Darwinism, belief that only strongest rational argument survives the test of time.
  • Internal Working Model, developed as part of the theory of attachment as proposed by Bowlby (1980), where in the first year of life the infant experiences many proximity-seeking episodes, leading to the development of a mental prototype of the relationship (with the adult caregiver). Expanded upon by Main (1990) where it was typified as being a representation of the relationship (caregiver and infant); active (working); continuously constructed and evolving; subconscious; both affective and cognitive; informs the child about identity, location, and accessibility; and creates current and future expectations. This article could be added as part of attachment, as I'm not completely certain if it would warrant a page of its own.
