Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Temporary Protection: Multi-editor edit war, it's being discussed on the talk page, but the edit war has peaked today (I'm involved too). Time to protect. Headbomb {talk / contribs / physics / books} 02:49, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Declined, seems to have stopped, apologies for not reacting earlier.--Ymblanter (talk) 18:23, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary Protection: Edit warring by apparent IP-hopper Jim1138 (talk) 03:37, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Declined, seems to have stopped, apologies for nor reacting earlier.--Ymblanter (talk) 18:23, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection for one month. IP spamming a bunch of brand names into an article about a drug. Jytdog (talk) 04:50, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Declined, this is just one IP, and they seem to have stopped after warning. If disruption continues please ask again.--Ymblanter (talk) 18:26, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Repeat vandalism by an IP. Philafrenzy (talk) 07:58, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Declined, this is just one IP, and they seem to have stopped after the last warning.--Ymblanter (talk) 18:27, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I have just reverted them twice more. Philafrenzy (talk) 19:39, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
    User(s) blocked. Blocked for 31h for vandalism. Nakon 19:41, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing. Jetstreamer Talk 12:54, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Content dispute. Please use the article's talk page or other forms of dispute resolution. Nakon 18:48, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary full protection: Content dispute/edit warring. Stang 14:54, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Repeat vandalism by an IP. --Arius1988 (talk) 15:44, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Nakon 18:39, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Repeat vandalism/personal attacks from a hopping IP. Calidum ¤ 16:52, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    User(s) blocked. Rangeblocked for 31hr. Nakon 18:43, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – IP editor insists on removing parts of old talk page discussions. clpo13(talk) 18:04, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Declined Disruption on the talk page appears to have ceased once warnings were issued to the user. Nakon 19:31, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Same reason as King's Quest (2015 video game) earlier. Multiple IPs adding unsourced claims that the developer stole money. -- ferret (talk) 20:04, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Nakon 20:05, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – or renew pending changes. I see some people not getting used to a Star Wars sequel made by Disney. Other reverted edits are just random comments or poor changes. George Ho (talk) 20:06, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Pending-changes protected for a period of 1 month, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Nakon 20:11, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – I see PC as less effective to let some users accept unsourced additions that are later reverted. However, why not renew pending changes if the former request is too much. George Ho (talk) 20:20, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Declined PCprotection is still on for a few days. Widr (talk) 20:28, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – I don't know whether most of the edits are attacks on the subject, but they are symptoms of vandalism. Alternatively, go for renew pending changes. George Ho (talk) 20:22, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Declined PC protection is still on for a few days. Widr (talk) 20:29, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Many of edits were lewd insults on the subject. Some were unsourced additions. And I don't think PC is effective, given high frequency of editing. George Ho (talk) 20:25, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 1 month, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Widr (talk) 20:30, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Create protection: Repeatedly recreated. Wgolf (talk) 20:49, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Creation protected for a period of 1 year, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Nakon 21:51, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – 50 edits by 26 users in the past 24 days, and basically no improvements to the article (see [1]). . EvergreenFir (talk) Please {{re}} 20:55, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 3 months, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Nakon 21:52, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
