Project X Zone 2, known in Japan as Project X Zone 2: Brave New World (プロジェクト クロスゾーン2：ブレイブニューワールド, Purojekuto Kurosu Zōn 2: Bureibu Nyū Wārudo), is a crossover tactical role-playing game for the Nintendo 3DS developed by Monolith Soft and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment and is the sequel to Project X Zone. Although the game is primarily a crossover between Capcom, Sega, and Bandai Namco Entertainment as with the previous installment, characters from Nintendo's Fire Emblem Awakening and Xenoblade Chronicles also make an appearance. The title will arrive in Japan on November 12, 2015, and February 16 in North America and the 19th of February in Europe.[3]
Gameplay
Like its predecessor, Project X Zone is a tactical role-playing game in which players strategically maneuver their characters across a field to battle with the enemy. Characters are paired up into Pair Units, with Solo Units consisting of a single character able to assist them when linked together. In battle, players use well-timed attacks and combos to do as much damage to the opponent as possible before their turn ends.
Characters
Like its predecessor, Project X Zone 2 features pairs of characters from all three participating companies (Bandai Namco Entertainment, Capcom, and Sega), as well as solo characters who can provide assist attacks during combat. Bandai Namco Entertainment have currently announced 92 characters (Playable Units and Enemies), with more to be announced later.[4] The game will also feature Nintendo characters for the first time with characters such as Chrom & Lucina from Fire Emblem Awakening and Fiora from Xenoblade Chronicles.[5] An original character, Chizuru Urashima (voiced by Mariko Kouda), was announced, however, whether she is playable or not is currently unknown.[6]

Some Solo Units summon other characters as part of their attacks:
- Captain Commando summons Michelle Heart from Legendary Wings and Cyber Blue from Battle Circuit.
- Valkyrie summons Pino and Acha from Toy Pop, Wagan from the Wagan Land Series, and Solvalou from Xevious.
- Ulala summons Opa-Opa from Fantasy Zone, Alex Kidd from Alex Kidd, and the Roman centurion main character from Altered Beast.
- Phoenix Wright & Maya Fey summon Steel Samurai and Pink Princess from the same game series.[12]
Event-only Characters
- Sylphie from Forgotten Worlds (voiced by Rie Tanaka) and Miyuki-chan from Ordyne (voiced by Fumiko Orikasa) appear as shopkeepers.[13]
Other Event Only Characters appear in Cutscenes.[14]
- Ada Wong from Resident Evil 6 (voiced by Junko Minagawa).
- Miles Edgeworth from the Ace Attorney series (voiced by Eiji Takemoto).
- Garigliano from Resonance of Fate (voiced by Norio Wakamoto).
- Tarosuke from Shadow Land (voiced by Ai Orikasa).
- Tiki from Fire Emblem Awakening (voiced by Ikue Ōtani).
Rival Units
The following is a list of non-playable characters that appear as major enemies throughout the game.
- Baby Bonnie Hood summons the two mechs from Hyper Dyne Side Arms when she performs her Cool Hunting attack as opposed to the hunters she summons in the Darkstalkers series. Previously the Side Arm mechs were summoned by the characters from Forgotten Worlds in Namco × Capcom and Devilotte in the original Project X Zone.
Development
On April 8, 2015, Famitsu.com launched a teaser website with a countdown that would expire in five days, revealing a secret project from Bandai Namco Entertainment.[26] Before its expiration, Project X Zone 2 was announced early to attendees of Bandai Namco's "Level Up" press event in Milan, Italy on April 10, which was prematurely posted on Italian news website E-duesse before being retracted.[27][28][29] The game was officially revealed to the public three days later.[30] It was confirmed in an interview that the game will address the criticisms of the original (such as the story) and that there will be some "surprise" announcements.[31] The game was originally going to have a simultaneous worldwide release, but the North American and European releases were later delayed to early 2016. [32]
