Re:1989 unprotection

Unfortunately, you cannot protect an article for an extended period of time, unless it's a high-traffic article such as George W. Bush, RuneScape, etc. Usually, admins protect pages per requests at WP:RFPP, and I believe that's how I first heard about the page. I saw that their was a high level of vandalism, and I hoped protecting the page temporarily would discourage vandals from coming back and editing the page. However, there are some good IP and newly registered users, who lose out when pages are protected. They cannot add their contributions to the page, and this is one of the reasons why pages cannot be protected for long periods of time. We want to stop vandalism, but we also want to keep the page open for everyone to edit. I mean, that's the point of Wikipedia, right? Hope that answers your question, Bkissin. Re:Friend

I suggest you first try talking to him. From a superficial glance at his edits, I really can't see anything too bad, and I think he's just testing it out. Anyway, tell him to read some Wikipedia guidelines and such, so he can get more experienced with the concept of the wiki, and the policy and guidelines of Wikipedia. Arrested Development

No need to apologize, I know edit summaries often seem brisk. The reason I removed it was simply that one of the main goals in maintaining the quality and readability of the article is avoiding endless lists of examples, and a show like Arrested Development does warrant lots of examples, which can become problematic. So I didn't remove the example because it isn't accurate (since it is), but simply because there are already pleanty of examples of political topicality. Hope that clears things up. --TM 09:52, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Attention Bkissin

I really am sorry for past vandalism. However! All vandalism past Feburary 1st was my brother's, He hacked my account and vandalized pages under my name. Also, I do admit to using a sock puppet. It was wrong and I will be fixing soon. Sorry for any trouble by my sock puppet and my brother have caused.

I feel bad that things such as this always happen. I hope you were able to fix your content! Amason1930 (talk) 22:41, 21 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Conservative Party candidates, 41st Canadian federal election

I don't understand. It's the same sort of list that we have down for the Liberals, the Bloc, the NDP, and the Greens. What is the correct way of doing so, in your opinion? Bkissin (talk) 20:16, 4 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your text is absolutely massive, and dosen't look like a list, which it is. It is not an article. Here are some Canadian Politics lists that are Featured Lists, the cream of the crop of lists. Look at them and make yours look similar. Nezzadar (talk) 20:24, 4 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Premiers of Alberta · Premiers of British Columbia · Premiers of Manitoba · Premiers of New Brunswick · Premiers of Newfoundland and Labrador · Premiers of Northwest Territories · Premiers of Nova Scotia · Premiers of Ontario · Premiers of Prince Edward Island · Premiers of Quebec · Prime Ministers of Canada · Prime Ministers of Canada by time in office

Hi, thanks for discussing this with me. All of this is of course, a work in progress. I'd like to have the results on the pages, so that we can have sortable tables, enabling us to rank candidates based on their votes. I started working on New Democratic Party candidates, 2008 Canadian federal election a while ago to show you what I mean. -- Earl Andrew - talk 23:19, 15 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Alberton-Roseville.PNG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 05:44, 1 December 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Where did you get the blank map and what was its licence? ww2censor (talk) 05:44, 1 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm unsure of what the license would be, truthfully enough. I didn't create the blank map, but the highlighting of the riding in question was my doing. Does it count as my work? I took the map from a previous election page, and just blanked it out. Could you help me figure out this situation?
Bkissin (talk) 05:49, 1 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It really depends on the copyright of the original image and whether the work you did is regarded as enough to be though of as a new artistic work or if it is still considered to be a derivative work. I need to know the source first before I can help you. I am watching this page for a while, so there is no need to post on my talk page. ww2censor (talk) 05:55, 1 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I noticed that at the end of your talk page directly after I posted, sorry about that. The original image is , which I got to through Prince Edward Island general election, 2007. Bkissin (talk) 06:04, 1 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

NB elections page

Thanks for the comments on the People Alliance Party. I think you're right; I double-checked, and I may have gotten a little ahead of myself. When (if?) they do become "official", I think we should add them if they become recognized by Elections NB. Thanks for fact-checking me! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Shawnrouse (talkcontribs) 14:04, 9 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I understand your take on the Leaders infobox, but I'm not sure it's factual to exclude PANB since they are (as of today), officially recognized as a party by Elections NB (http://www.cbc.ca/canada/new-brunswick/story/2010/06/09/nb-panb-official-party-status-221.html). If we start to pick and choose which facts to put up, aren't we distorting the truth? In my view, it's not for us to decide whether or not they deserve it; you are either a registered party or you aren't. In this case, they are. You used the example of the Alberta election, but that page has the Wild Rose party in the leaders infobox, and they have never won a seat. In any case, thanks for the feedback; I appreciate a good discussion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Shawnrouse (talkcontribs) 23:12, 9 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for replying. I absolutely see where you are coming from. I think I see the gap between you and I now. You are using Wikipedia conventions of which I'm not aware (because I'm a newbie editor), while I'm just relying on what I consider to be the facts. I'm okay with leaving them out if that's how things are done around here, but I'm not sure it does reflect the facts. Even though PANB is a new party, they are officially registered in NB unlike the Animal Alliance Party or the Canadian Action Party.

By the way, I did a mini-Twitter survey on this question last night on the #nbvotes hashtag. It didn't get a big response, but two people (one NDP and one Tory) thought they should be added. I'm okay with leaving them out if that's the Wikipedia way to do it, but I don't think we have heard the last of this question. I plan to add the PANB candidate names in the "Other" column on the page. I'm sure you wouldn't have a concern with that.

Thanks again for the good discussion; it's great we can talk these things out. Shawnrouse (talk) 15:27, 10 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please take a look at this revision of the article, and scroll down to the Historical Service section. You'll see that there were two identical copies of the list. All I did was remove one of them. The original list is still there, untouched. Another user copied it and pasted it, creating two lists, without giving an explanation. All I did was revert that user's mysterious unexplained duplication of the list. –BMRR (talk) 00:37, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

David Karwacki excluded from 2007 election infobox

If the leader of a party with no seats in the Legislature got to participate in the one-and-only 2007 Election TV debate, I think he should be in the infobox. The support that David Karwacki got in Saskatoon Meewasin also significantly decreased the margins separating the NDP and the SK Party, IMHO. - Jwkozak91 (talk) 17:43, 12 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Gordon Campbell (Canadian politician)

FYI - Campbell is still the Premier of BC until such time his party elects a new leader. Due to our parliamentary system (i.e. the leader of the majority forms government) and our Constitution, the Office of Premier cannot be vacated as it would otherwise trigger a consitutional crisis for our Lieutenant Governor. --Cahk (talk) 22:18, 3 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"Target Seat" sections on Provincial elections pages

I have reverted the deletions I made on the election pages in question, and changed the titles to Marginal Seats per discussion on the Ontario election talk page. Sorry for falsely accusing you of reverting my edits, I should have double checked that before I said what I said. Also sorry for not clarifying the comment I made following my response to you, that comment was not directed at you at all but it very much appeared that it was. As you are probably aware, I have commented on the Ontario election page in support of the suggestion made by Vale of Glamorgan. Happy editing. Vietminh (talk) 02:14, 6 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Upload your free images to Commons, please!

Thank you for uploading free images/media to Wikipedia! As you may know, there is another Wikimedia Foundation project called Wikimedia Commons, a central media repository for all free media. This will also allow our visitors to search for, view and use our media in one central location. If you wish to move previous uploads to Commons, see Wikipedia:Moving images to the Commons (you may view previous uploads by going to your user contributions on the left and choosing the 'file' namespace from the drop down box (or see [1]). Nova Scotia Parliamentary Expenses Scandal

Hi there, I just wanted to let you know the reason I edited the information you added to Nova Scotia Parliamentary Expenses Scandal in this edit[2]. I read the reference article you used to source the claim that Hurlburt had pleaded guilty, and found that this wasn't exactly the case. His lawyer appeared in court and stated his client will plead guilty when he appears in court on April 12. Therefore a guilty plea hasn't been entered, so the article shouldn't be stating that he has already pleaded guilty. I figured you probably only misread the article, but we're dealing with WP:BLP which is why I wanted to explain to you here why I corrected the info before you seen it changed in the article.

Hey, no worries. It was my goal to update the legal situation of the four of them, but I wasn't sure how to best put into prose. Thanks for your help! Bkissin (talk) 15:26, 25 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Parties in infobox

The Green Party is included in the infobox on Ontario general election, 2007, so you are wrong when you say we only include parties that win seats. I think having such a large share of the vote should be enough to include them. --Noname2 (talk) 21:01, 21 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

5% was determined the threshold at Talk:Ontario general election, 2011#Green Party in Infobox. 117Avenue (talk) 21:23, 21 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Consensus was not reached. YOU determined that 5% was a proper threshold. This has become a very divisive issue, with both sides implicitly accusing the other of trying to manipulate the electoral results. On the Ontario talk page, there was no administrator or uninvolved editor who made a final decision on the matter. I am not interested in reopening this debate, but I will revert recent edits and bring this back to the talk page if necessary. While this was an issue during the election itself, when Green Party (and other minor party supporters) want their party advertised in the leader's infobox, as soon as the election occurs and the party does not win any seats, then it seems logical that they are not mentioned in the infobox. Bkissin (talk) 21:34, 21 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
An infobox is for summarizing the article. When a party receives more than five percent of the vote, or in the case of New Brunswick 2010 over ten percent, they played a significant part in the election, and should be mentioned. I don't see the logic you refer to. 117Avenue (talk) 22:11, 21 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
OK, if the logic is that the infobox summarizes the article, then no one needs to know that minor parties played a part (at least in the infobox). If you want to argue that minor parties, (like the NDP, which had no representation in the previous legislature) played an important role in the election but didn't win seats, then that can be mentioned in the article itself. In the United States House of Representatives elections, 1912, the Progressive Party won 9 seats and 2% of the vote, but are not mentioned in the infobox. It is, however, mentioned in the prose of the article. Bkissin (talk) 22:31, 21 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Cotler

Hey, no need to apologize for asking for another source. Your reasoning made sense, and it wasn't at all a problem. About the polling calls, I think it was more that the Conservatives were implying he'd step down and force a by-election, but I'll admit at the time it was kind of hard to tell if he was running again or not. Replaceable fair use File:DavidBertschiPhotograph.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:DavidBertschiPhotograph.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Peripitus (Talk) 21:49, 8 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Non-notable person, apparently failing WP:POLITICIAN.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. Hi Bkissin, I have cleaned up a significant amount in the nominated candidates section as you asked for in template. The new ridings are now included, I fixed the party order and added a number of candidates. One problem I ran into is Elections Nova Scotia lists a new riding as "Halifax Armdale" but because it was not already listed somewheres, I have no idea which of the Halifax sections it's supposed to be listed in. Also, the new "Sackville" riding, I wasn't sure what to link as there was previously a Sackville riding up to 1993. I was hoping you could check these problems out, as I think I have probably taken the section as far as I can for now. I'll keep checking the nominated candidates and add them as they become available. Cmr08 (talk) 22:51, 30 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

No problem, and thanks. Everyone loves to be first. ;) But the speculation has ranged from anywhere between 4 and 9 people, and some others possibly sitting as independents, and who knows what else will emerge from this bizarre story. You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on The Bridge Party of Canada requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. 42nd By-elections Re: Mauril

I totally get your reasoning, and I really wouldn't be shocked if there does end up being a by-election in Ottawa-Vanier. I just think that at this point it might be a bit premature, given all the other things that could happen; for instance, his health could theoretically remain well enough (relatively speaking) where he's still serving as an MP by the time the next election is held (whether it be in 2019 or theoretically earlier if a snap election is held).

It wouldn't shock me, I just think including it now is a bit too presumptive. Tholden28 (talk) 03:11, 8 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Ehammer1408 (talk) 19:00, 31 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I'm the author, and I'm not yet requesting a re-review. I do intend to revise further. Robert B. Barr is notable in two ways as a Rabbi: his congregation has been controversial with the official Reform Judaism movement in that it takes a humanistic perspective. I can document that significance. Barr has challenged conventional thought within American Judaism. He is also credited with being one of the first online congregations - again, documentable. He is well-published and a regular lecturer on notable topics. Finally, his candidacy itself is notable and well-cited in the draft article. There have only been two rabbis who have ever run for Congress, and neither we active pulpit rabbis with actual congregations. Were he to win, Barr would be the first rabbi to serve in the US House. The very notability of these items can sound promotional, but these are established facts which are notable. Can you highlight particular phrases that either need rewording or need a citation? That would help.

Ehammer1408 (talk) 19:00, 31 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for reaching out, and I definitely get where you are coming from. If you can find information from the Forward or from Tablet or from non-religious publications about Barr's controversial stances, those might count as reliable sources. In terms of sounding less promotional, take a look at Jimmy Kessler, Raphael Evers, and Barbara Borts for ideas on how to make the article sound more encyclopedic. The article's focus should be on his current position as a Rabbi, with a section that can go into a small amount of factual detail on his congressional aspirations. Hi. I am confused by the refusal. LO3 Energy has been reported by numerous major media sources and the references in the article include in-depth reports from the New York Times, the Guardian, New Scientist and Fox Business. If required, I can also add in reports from Wired, the Daily Telegraph and Scientific American and many others.

The Brooklyn Microgrid, which enabled the first peer-to-peer transaction of energy, is a key marker in the development of new transactive energy network developments which are of great interest to popular science. Having this information on Wikipedia - and I plan to also write an informative article on the Brooklyn Microgrid - is of benefit to the public realm.

I am happy to work on content to ensure it reads impartially if you feel it doesn't, but I do strongly dispute the claim that the references do not show the company's notability.

Please could you give a response as I would like to progress this page quickly. I really need to know what I have to do as I do believe the credits in global media make this a viable company to have a wikipedia entry. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wdmguk (talkcontribs) 17:24, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Lruddy6493 (talk) 16:51, 11 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Can you provide specifics of what is not acceptable? It says "should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed." I've provided 14 different sources including newspapers and government pages. I've not included the organization's website, press releases, social media etc. The last citation is an online blog so in re-reading the guidelines, that one probably doesn't carry weight. I didn't include any op-eds, opinion pieces, letters to the editor etc. It would be helpful to know which sections and which citations don't meet the standards. Thanks. Lruddy6493 (talk) 16:51, 11 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It doesn't seem like you read my reasoning at all! The page itself is written like an informal advertisement or article about the organization, and not an encyclopedia entry about the organization. Wikipedia is not a business or nonprofit directory. Wikipedia articles need to have a Neutral point of view on the topic. This article for a Canadian version of Furniture Bank in Toronto is not perfect, but it is perhaps a starting point on proper writing and notability. Additionally, I'd look over Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies) again to make sure that the organization fits those requirements. Bkissin (talk) 17:12, 11 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Clearly you do not understand notability rules for professional boxers.

Dealing with crap like this was the reason I left Wikipedia after editing for years. Obviously things have not improved.

Want to see another boxing article I started about another boxer at a similar stage of his career that someone like you thought was not notable?

Re: Yamaha PS-55 review

You said that I didn't add any more references, but actually I added two more references. I really don't understand how it's possible to overlook that.

It's fine if you reject the article, but if you do so, you have to explain me exactly why.

That first guy simply said 'you have not shown that this model is particularly famous or significant.' and 'All you've done is cite the manual'.

Why do I have to show that the model is particularly famous or significant? There's no rule that says Wikipedia may only contain articles about famous or significant things. That keyboard may not be very famous, it's a really old 80s keyboard... But I researched about it, watched several videos, read the entire manual and collected all information I could find in the internet and combined them into one article, so it can be improved by other people later on with new information, that aren't yet available. I'm a 90s kid, I can't know how famous that keyboard was back then in the 80s. It was only covered in some very old music magazine and I cited that one in the latest revision. However, I know that there are other pages on Wikipedia about other keyboards by Yamaha with equivalent information and they didn't get rejected.

I don't only cite from the manual anymore and am referring to other sources, too. There's just not much more that I can include. If you disagree, please try yourself to find more information (which is hardly possible) and help me improving it. But please don't reject it without any tips on how to improve it.

Reditec (talk) 22:15, 27 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Reditec! I'm sorry if you are upset about your article being rejected. Let me try to go into a little more detail.
There's no rule that says Wikipedia may only contain articles about famous or significant things. Actually, that is indeed a rule. Wikipedia:Notability discusses at length what counts as significant enough for a wikipedia article. One of the general notability guidelines is If a topic has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, it is presumed to be suitable for a stand-alone article or list. In the case of the manual you cited, that would not be independent of the subject. As for the additional coverage you cited, I don't know if that would apply as significant coverage in a reliable source.
Of all the products that Yamaha makes, why does this deserve an article? We don't make articles for every model year of a car (unless a particular model year has significant coverage that would warrant its own article. But even with the Ford Pinto and the Chevrolet Corvair, the issues with each of these vehicles is mentioned in an article about the car itself). We don't make individual articles about each baseball bat made by Louisville Slugger.
I noticed in looking at the List of Yamaha products that there are some keyboards that have their own articles, and most of them are poorly put together and have not been "improved" by other editors. This however is not a justification that because other stuff exists, that means that every electric keyboard should have its own article. There are a lot of things that don't end up on Wikipedia because it's just not what Wikipedia is for. Those are my particular reasonings behind rejecting the article. By all means attempt to resubmit, but I can't promise that another reviewer won't also reject the article. Bkissin (talk) 03:25, 28 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The article Portland Lumberjacks has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:GNG. Only source is no longer working.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. TM 23:39, 4 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I understand why you put that photo in, but in reality it appears that one of Allen's supporters copied a copyrighted photo from ipolitics.ca and uploaded it to Flickr, changing the license. I have deleted it again, we'd need an OTRS from that website to allow it. There is a very small chance that the ipolitics.ca photographer has allowed Allen's campaign to use it, but we have no proof of that. Unfortunately this happens all the time in election campaigns! 13:24:50, 11 March 2018 review of submission by Saurabhgarg1988

I wrote this article and created this page as many employees of this parent company or those willing to join have been seen talking on social media about the chaotic online presence of its subsidiary companies which creates confusion especially during hiring process. Some of them got cheated by middleman for bribery to get through the recruitment process. Thus, just to put records straight, I created this page so that they get to know real thing from a credible source like wikipedia and are not confused. I collected this information from independent sources and wrote an article.

If we as editors at wikipedia are not to help people about getting correct information. What are we for. I write blogs. Some of the people who were cheated requested me to write a blog about the company. I then thought, my blog may not reach much people. Therefore, I wrote it on wikipedia so that it reaches maximum people and they are saved from any unnecessary frauds.

Rest is your wish whether to publish or not. I tried doing my bit. Now its reviewer's turn.

For me, ultimate objective of wikipedia is to spread correct information, also about individuals, events or companies who are not as much famous and not just publishing what is already there in public domain.

We can save hundreds of people from getting cheated and losing their hard earned money to the middleman if they get the right information from a credible source. Let see how far we achieve this objective.

Thanks for your review. Saurabhgarg1988 (talk) 13:24, 11 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Bkissin, thank you considering my page submission. I included citations from the founder's publication, largely regarding the early history, as there hasn't been much written yet because it's privately held. The other references include Washington Post and Huffington Post. I believe that the company is notable given its reach, especially considering the recent political coverage. There's previous litigation which I can add in, which would improve consideration of the notability. There's a lot of activity about the company on blog platforms, however I understand these sources aren't verifiable. The MLM category [[3]] shows many other direct distribution companies and I consider SeneGence to be a worthy addition to the list given their long establishment. Could you please let me know the best way for this to be re-considered or re-reviewed? And your specific suggestions for improvement? Thank you so much for your time!

10:36:21, 21 March 2018 review of submission by Pompey1

Hello. I was wondering if you could give me some ideas and guidelines to produce an article successfully. I have been trying to create articles on Wikipedia, but all to no avail. Pompey1 (talk) 10:36, 21 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Pompey1 (talk · contribs). One of the biggest hurdles that new editors face when they want to create an article on Wikipedia is the topic of Notability. Because Wikipedia likes to think of itself as a important encyclopedia, not every topic or every person needs an article. There are certain guidelines that have to be met to be considered for a Wikipedia article. Take Reefer Tym for instance. There are so many bands and musical artists out there that want to have Wikipedia articles to help promote them that if Wikipedia accepted them all, we wouldn't have enough space for articles on important topics. That's why the users of Wikipedia have developed these guidelines to determine if a Musician or artist is notable enough for the encyclopedia.

According to Wikipedia:Notability (music): Musicians or ensembles (this category includes bands, singers, rappers, orchestras, DJs, musical theatre groups, instrumentalists, etc.) may be notable if they meet at least one of the following criteria.

  • Has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable, not self-published, and are independent of the musician or ensemble itself.
This criterion includes published works in all forms, such as newspaper articles, books, magazine articles, online versions of print media, and television documentaries[note 2] except for the following:
Any reprints of press releases, other publications where the musician or ensemble talks about themselves, and all advertising that mentions the musician or ensemble, including manufacturers' advertising.[note 3]

Could you do a little thing for me?

If you remember, you declined my Draft for Cpt. Alex Mason, but I have revised it. So if you have the time, could you check in to that and see if you like it? Amason1930 (talk) 22:56, 21 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello amason1930 (talk · contribs). The reason I declined the draft the first time was because Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a directory for CoD Black Ops 2. Video game characters are largely not considered notable for Wikipedia. Exceptions like Mario and Sonic are notable because they have been written about in reliable media sources. If you want to add information about Captain Alex Mason, that may be better suited for the Call of Duty Wiki instead of Wikipedia. I hope this helps. BDavid3490 (talk) 01:14, 22 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to know what I need to do to get this approved, please. What is it missing?

Hello BDavid3490 (talk · contribs). Take JACC for instance.

Works consisting merely of trivial coverage, such as articles that simply report performance dates, release information or track listings, or the publications of contact and booking details in directories.
Articles in a school or university newspaper (or similar), in most cases.
  • Has had a single or album on any country's national music chart.
  • Has had a record certified gold or higher in at least one country.
  • Has been placed in rotation nationally by a major radio or music television network.
  • Has been a featured subject of a substantial broadcast segment across a national radio or TV network.

Has JACC done any of those things, either in Ghana or the UK? If so, add the information to the article. Otherwise, I wish him the best of luck, and when he makes it big, we can re-evaluate the article. Thanks for asking! Bkissin (talk) 13:53, 22 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

What about references on these pages:

Gps50 (talk) 09:42, 23 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Only ConnectedText has no references listed. I wasn't responsible for accepting those articles, but I will look into whether those need to be deleted as well. Just because other stuff exists does not mean that everything deserves an article. On top of WebNote having no references to reliable sources, the article is written in an informal style that borders on the promotional, which would also be a reason to decline the draft. Bkissin (talk) 15:22, 23 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Articles for creation

I've moved the article you approved, The University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center, back to draft space for the following reasons:

  • The only citations are self-sources and it cites wikipedia itself.
  • Most of the information in the article doesn't have any sources.
  • There is a talk page template on the article page.
  • It is an orphan, and the only out-link is to the state of New Mexico.
  • The title should not begin with "The".

This article should not have been accepted at AfC in its current state. Natureium (talk) 16:17, 23 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to understand better why this article has been rejected. The content, including the citations used, has been modelled exactly on similar articles already published on Wikipedia, including Mr Green (company), Betsson, as well as 888casino and various pages describing operations run by the same company.

I compared the reference links used by all these pages and it seems to me that those used in the Videoslots entry are of similar or superior quality. In fact, several of the sources, namely Maltese newspapers and licensing authorities, are identical.

Thank you for your consideration.

Hello Bkissin,

I have added links to the article about this game. Why it was declined again?

Thanks in advance.

Kobold Stout (talk) 08:00, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Kobold Stout (talk · contribs). So, I see several reasons here why it would be declined. First, the sources: for Wikipedia articles, a topic has to have media coverage from reliable sources that are INDEPENDENT of the subject. Citing the developer would not be independent of the subject matter, and citing a Wikia about the page would not be a reliable source because anyone can come in and make outlandish changes. Second, the topic: I don't know whether this meets notability guidelines under Wikipedia:Notability (video games), but if the game is not fully released yet, it would certainly fit under the rule that Wikipedia is not a Crystal Ball, and shouldn't be used as a forum for product announcements. Third, the style: The way the article is written right now, especially the Story section, come off very self-promotional, not exactly the tone of an online encyclopedia. That was at least my reasoning. Bkissin (talk) 13:27, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi

I was asked to help with the above draft by KJP1 as a member of the NZ project. My fellow Kiwi who wrote the draft seemed a bit discouraged. I am new to Wikipedia but tried to do my best to answer your queries by providing more references and attempting to highlight notability. NZ is a small country so for a young author (under 40) to have published 5 novels would be considered "notable" - but in the "promising" rather than the "arrived" area. I hope that my editing helps highlight this view in an appropriate manner. I also think that a novelist in NZ, born in Sri Lanka is also notable (though it might not seem like this from an outsider view). I can understand that this may not be enough to be included in Wikipedia, but wanted to give it a go at the request of KJP1 Thank you for your comments.

Yrarendar (talk) 05:40, 7 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Yrarendar (talk · contribs)! I'm sorry you feel that way. I was going by the guidelines that Wikipedia sets out for creative professionals like authors. I have copied and pasted the guidelines here:

Authors, editors, journalists, filmmakers, photographers, artists, architects, and other creative professionals:

  1. The person is regarded as an important figure or is widely cited by peers or successors.
  2. The person is known for originating a significant new concept, theory, or technique.
  3. The person has created or played a major role in co-creating a significant or well-known work or collective body of work. In addition, such work must have been the primary subject of an independent and notable work (for example, a book, film, or television series, but usually not a single episode of a television series) or of multiple independent periodical articles or reviews.
  4. The person's work (or works) either (a) has become a significant monument, (b) has been a substantial part of a significant exhibition, (c) has won significant critical attention, or (d) is represented within the permanent collections of several notable galleries or museums.

While both of the facts you bring up are interesting tidbits, they aren't enough to establish notability for Wikipedia.
To give you a small sense of hope here, one of the few things that may work in Brannavan Gnanalingam's favour is the fact that his books have been short-listed for national book awards in NZ. I personally don't know the guidelines around whether simply being nominated for a national book award is enough to be notable, and so my comment on the article was meant to start a conversation among the reviewers as to whether this was enough.
You are more than welcome to do some work on the draft and try to resubmit, but it took 8 weeks for a reviewer to eventually decline the submission so I don't know if things will be different this time around. Bkissin (talk) 15:24, 7 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your comments. I don't necessarily disagree with your assessment. I would not have initiated the entry myself, but I have worked on the entry in order to help out. I have added more material to flesh out the entry; however I am still not certain that this novelist meets the criteria - though his work has been reviewed in all the likely and respected NZ outlets, but not internationally. Do you advise leaving it as is and waiting for the originating author to make the next step. The original author has not changed anything. As I am new to Wikipedia, I didn't know what the next step would be.

Yrarendar (talk) 00:39, 8 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

That's a tough one Yrarendar (talk · contribs). If the original editor doesn't care, then you don't have to be the one to try and save this article unless you want to. Coming from the US, I don't know which local NZ websites count as reliable sources. Look at the guidelines in that link and see if the sites in Brannavan's article fit those guidelines. Bottom Line: I wouldn't worry about it too much. Welcome to Wikipedia, go out and explore and make some great edits, and if you have any other questions, stop on by! Origin Suite article

Re: Draft - Origin Suite.

A bit unclear how this album article is not sufficient for being accepted when the first album was (Time Within Itself). This Origin Suite is written up internationally and has been getting airplay world wide, as much as Time Within Itself. Obviously there is something you see lacking that the other article and CD contained; made it acceptable.

shelyric (sorry, my tilde is not working on this computer)

Hi shelyric (talk · contribs)! So I'm a little torn about the draft. On one hand notability is not inherited just because other stuff exists. If Waldrop is not notable enough for his own article, I find it difficult to see how his albums pass notability. Actually, I just noticed this rule from WP:NALBUM (Conversely, an album does not need to be by a notable artist or ensemble to merit a standalone article if it meets the general notability guideline. ) I'm not sure that the "Charts" section meets the The single or album has appeared on any country's national music chart. rule of notability, and the section on reviews needs to be introduced into prose, not just copy-pasting sections from selected reviews, which would be a copyright violation. The article itself needs a major cleanup, but once that is done, you are right, it may be acceptable for the mainspace. By all means, once that is done, re-submit the article. Re.Article

Thanks for reviewing my article. What is my sources missing? Thegooduser Let's Chat 19:07, 8 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry thegooduser (talk · contribs), I was originally responding to a different user that I declined. As for your article, it was only one sentence! While Wikipedia does find most articles about geographic features as notable, a 1-2 sentence about a road (especially without proof that the road in question is notable) would not pass such a test. Look at the articles for East Hastings, Granville Street, Burrard Street or any of the other articles on Roads in the GVRM to see what they did. Bkissin (talk) 21:10, 8 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You rejected my proposed article on Fry, Arizona and I am looking for clarification.

I am unclear why you rejected my proposed article. I was trying to correct errors in the county (cochise, az) and city pages, but without the context of a separate article explaining about the populated place of FRY, az (it also a census designated place) the history of both Cochise county and Sierra Vista are severely distorted, as Fry still exists alongside and partially surrounded on two sides by sierra vista and the Ft. Huachuca military base. Fry is still active. I provided four times the sources most the the other CDP's and Populated places (even the ghost towns) listed as being in the county, which need to be corrected to include the area. All of my sources are available from the university of Arizona, Smithsonian, and Arizona historical society. I tried to get the listing corrected for Cochise county corrected but had my changes reversed. Wikipedia is literally and effectively leaving out a real currently existing place recognized by the federal government, and national register of historic places (for two buildings one of which I mentioned in my proposed article).

So I again ask, as I have provided more sources than all these other places that are 1/4 the size in the county and have pages at Wikipedia....what are you objecting to and are wanting more detail? When I have traced links listed in other articles perhaps 50% at best are real and mt sources are either academic or in one case a collection of selected newspaper articles (the reporters own articles- when the paper was bought out twice between 1980's and 2000 one or both of the new owners did not keep it so this collection is all that exists. So I repeat, what detail needs more? That really makes no logical sense to me in this context.

Ambre P (talk) 06:46, 9 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ambre P, please try to look over Wikipedia:Etiquette next time you have a dispute with another editor. I don't need to be spoken to that way. That being said, it was a very difficult decision to decline that draft. You are absolutely correct that most articles about geographic locations pass notability requirements, especially if they are CDPs. However, the draft that I saw was not effectively formatted (one long unmanageable chunk of text rather than being spread out or wikified, it also included trivial information (I fail to see how having a drive-in theatre that received an advance copy of the first Star Wars is notable enough for an encyclopedia article.) There was the worry that the article may have had some copyright violations from copying and pasting information (see here) but I think you largely avoided that because you cited the source in the article and put quotes around direct information.

If you want to see how other CDP articles are put together, look at Damascus, Maryland, Layhill, Maryland, and/or Leisure World, Maryland as examples.

Your other option, of course, is to add this information into the existing articles for Sierra Vista and Cochise County. Bkissin (talk) 13:55, 10 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ambre P (talk) 09:46, 11 April 2018 (UTC) I am sorry if I upset you in some way. I have a learning disability and I really know I am missing something. I was not trying to argue with you, I just really do not see a difference and am confused. I know I think a bit different, and I found out in college how differently. I now do not understand now why you are upset. I have read everything and am frustrated with what I must be doing wrong and not seeing, to the wikipedia editorial POV. I have looked at other articles, and to me, what I wrote looked good and similar if not better because of all of the sources I was using. I looked at your link to the AI copyright checker, and other than the direct quotes I did not cut and paste anything. I know I have a bit of a boring writing style, but that is funny, but only if you know I wrote it all from scratch. The blog your copyright checker is using is one I have given info to/posted at, I actually used actual and physical source material as opposed to quotes and stories posted by other users, and had used it as an additional source but was told to remove it. If fact that blog has several sections that are direct cut and pastes from a local real-estate office page that its-self is line for line, word for word copied from one of the books I was quoting.[reply]

It really is an oversight I was trying to fix. I do historical reenacting and the oversight bothered me. As for putting it in with sierra vista page, to someone like me who has lived in the area and knows the history, its confusing to me and others in local area I have spoken too. I am trying to be complete, but fry is not sierra vista like well any two settled places that touch each-other. You should see a local map where they overlap and almost commingled on the street by street level, but have separate governments, are listed separately in the phone listings, mail addresses, etc... Sierra Vista proper is the largest settled area/town/city in the county and Fr y is a separate CDP mostly but not entirely within sierra vista [1] . People living in fry can not get city services, as they are not residents of Sierra vista, they use county services like rural fire, and 911 calls the county sheriff not sierra city police. Its an oddhte situation, but as it is seperate, distinct, and older than sierra vista and bigger than any other CDP listed in county, I cannot understand why it is not listed. Most of the other CDP's are less than 300 people and Fry is estimated at between 800 to 1000 people.

If this is not what you are saying is wrong, I apologize, but that is what I am thinking you are saying. Not trying to argue, I'm just not good at explaining, and not understanding at all the problem you are saying. This is why I try to stick to art and CGI graphics editing and not writing. I was trying to fix something I saw as small and easy to fix problem.

The Star wars thing is important to me and people I interact with, but most are science fiction fans and computer/technical people. To me its more interesting than any of the 'notable' people who live in sierra vista.

If there is somewhere else or something else I should ask this or do please tell me.

Ambre P, I definitely understand you are frustrated after putting so much time and effort into your work. It can be upsetting when someone declines a draft you worked hard on, I get it. It has happened to me many times. You did fine on the copyright issue. It was coming up as worrisome by that tool because of the direct quotes that you pulled, but you cited those quotes so there is no problem.
Again, you are right that there is important information here, it just needs to be formatted better. That's why I suggested looking at the CDPs that I mentioned in my last comment. That may give you an idea on what other writers have done to make their articles good. While the information in the last three paragraphs is interesting, I still don't think it's the kind of information you would find in an encyclopedia.
Does any of this information help give you an idea on what I'm talking about? It's a good article, it just needs some work before it's ready to accept. Bkissin (talk) 16:35, 11 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the review. I'd like to do whatever it takes to see that this article meet your guidelines. However, I'm a little confused as to what is deemed a "reliable" source. I've included sources that are national automotive publications, local news from northeastern Pennsylvania, the Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg Business News. I'd just like further explanation of what is a "reliable" source if those are not.

Thank you for your time, and I look forward to improving this article in an effort to meet your guidelines.

08:32:15, 10 April 2018 review of submission by SimoC

Dear Bkissin, with all due respect could you be more specific about the changes/edit needed on the page? GNU Health is a worldwide project, implemented in every continent and with international awards. Luis Falcon is the creator of it and I believe that the page I submitted should be public. Please, let me know how to proceed. Thank you. SimoC (talk) 08:32, 10 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello SimoC. It was a difficult decision to decline Draft:Luis Falcon because you did a good job on the article. I was working with the guidelines that Wikipedia has on the notability of professors and academics. Those guidelines are:
1. The person's research has had a significant impact in their scholarly discipline, broadly construed, as demonstrated by independent reliable sources.
2. The person has received a highly prestigious academic award or honor at a national or international level.
3. The person is or has been an elected member of a highly selective and prestigious scholarly society or association (e.g., a National Academy of Sciences or the Royal Society) or a fellow of a major scholarly society which reserves fellow status as a highly selective honor (e.g., Fellow of the IEEE).[2]
4. The person's academic work has made a significant impact in the area of higher education, affecting a substantial number of academic institutions.
5. The person holds or has held a named chair appointment or distinguished professor appointment at a major institution of higher education and research (or an equivalent position in countries where named chairs are uncommon).
6. The person has held a highest-level elected or appointed administrative post at a major academic institution or major academic society.
7. The person has had a substantial impact outside academia in their academic capacity.
8. The person is or has been the head or chief editor of a major, well-established academic journal in their subject area.
9. The person is in a field of literature (e.g., writer or poet) or the fine arts (e.g., musician, composer, artist), and meets the standards for notability in that art, such as WP:CREATIVE or WP:MUSIC.
In looking over the article again, there may be a case for #7 on the list, though it also looks like Falcon is not a professor or academic. WP:ANYBIO says:
The person has received a well-known and significant award or honor, or has been nominated for such an award several times.
The person has made a widely recognized contribution that is part of the enduring historical record in his or her specific field.[8]
The person has an entry in the Dictionary of National Biography or similar publication.
However, the activism section comes off a little too promotional in its tone. I would absolutely fix that if I were you. By all means, attempt to resubmit, try and follow the guidelines above to see if Luis Falcon can meet those requirements, and happy editing! Bkissin (talk) 14:52, 10 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - thank you for reviewing my submission. I was worried about the NPOV lean as well. Do you think the best way to combat this issue would be to add sections that don't necessarily implicate the CIA? Bryant Kimball (talk) 21:09, 10 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

That's a tough one Bryant Kimball. I would say try to shift the focus more toward the political violence between the PNP and the JLP and what caused these differences, and then we can add a section about CIA involvement at the bottom of the article? New Page Reviewer Flag

Hi, Bkissin.
I've noticed that you are an AfC reviewer but don't yet have the New Page Reviewer flag. Would you please consider heading over to PERM and requesting it? (check the flag requirements HERE)
As part of a larger plan to increase cooperation between New Page Patrol and Articles for creation, we are trying to get as many of the active AfC reviewers as possible under the NPR user flag (per this discussion). Unlike the AfC request list, the NPR flag carries no obligation to review new articles, so I'm not asking you to help out at New Page Patrol if you don't want to, just to request the flag.
Of course, if it is something you would be interested in, you can have a look at the NPP tutorial. Please mention that you are an active AfC reviewer in your application.

Copyrights on drafts

Just as a note, it's probably not the best of ideas to link to the copyvios tool in draft comments, as was done here - it encourages the submitter to simply reword the document until they reach an "acceptable" level of heavy paraphrasing to trick the bot and get it to slide past reviewers. Also pinging Thsmi002, who declined the draft in the first place, as a courtesy (if you could remove the offending content that would be great, but it's not the end of the world if not). Primefac (talk) 23:46, 15 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Bkissin, sorry to bother you. I'm still on this because maybe in the writing it is not clear that Falcon is not an academic nor a professor. I attempted to increase the sound of neutrality in what I initially wrote. If it's still not enough, is it possible to further specify what exactly should be changed? Alexander.Snave (talk) 01:05, 18 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Alexander.Snave! The article definitely looks better, good work! Wikipedia's guidelines are pretty strict on who qualifies for an article for athletes, but they don't have guidelines for skiers/snowboarders. Take a look at the guidelines here and see if you can determine whether Jake Makes the cut, OK? If you can make a convincing argument, then you might be able to get the article accepted. Reg Griffin submission

Do I understand that you have rejected this submission because you think Timeform are a bookmaker?

>>> Comment: A bookmaker would not be notable per Wikipedia guidelines on horse racing notability Bkissin (talk) 20:55, 20 April 2018 (UTC)

Timeform is to the entire horse racing industry what Wisden is the the cricketing world. They are NOW owned by a bookmaker, but bookmaking is still not what they are about. Reg Griffin was a leading figure in the horse racing industry because he ran Timeform for so long and contributed enormously to the racing world.

I would appreciate suggestions how I can better word his entry to reflect this.

Thank you.

Wikiwrangler (talk) 20:50, 21 April 2018 (UTC) wikiwrangler[reply]

Hello wikiwrangler! I'm sorry you feel as if the article was unfairly declined. I don't have a background in British horseracing, and so in looking up Timeform, it led me to the article describing its gambling activities. That being said, I went with Wikipedia:WikiProject Horse racing/Notability to develop my decision. If you can reword the article to fit some of those requirements, go ahead. More context in the lead would be important as to what he actually did. Was he a jockey? Was he a horse owner? A data analytics guy for Timeform before becoming Chairman? If so, was he notable enough to meet the standards put together by Wikipedia? What I see right now is a guy who ran Timeform for many years. Bolster your case a little bit, using the notability guidelines as something to work with. Bkissin (talk) 22:06, 21 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, thank you for that, I'll have a go. But Timeform doesn't have any gambling activities. They send people round to watch horses in races and in training. They time them over set distances (The "time" part of the name) and log their performance on the racecourse (the "form" part of the name). But I'm not responsible for the Timeform entry on wikipedia, so if it gives a misleading impression, that is unfortunate. Griffin started off going out watching horses and writing reports, then he was in charge of other people doing that. They published a yearbook with data on every racehorse in Britain. It was the industry reference book and Griffin became very influential. He rode as an amateur in his early career, and an owner and breeder in his later career. He did more besides. This is the page for the radio show: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Just_Plain_Bill

And yes, since it is simply stating facts, it is enough of a reference to confirm that she was on the show since it is listed in print that she was an actress therein. It should be enough to confirm that she should be linked directly from the "Just Plain Bill" show page.

I am her great-grandson and there is more content to add to fill out her page but a beginning page is needed no?

Re: largest serving of balut

Hi. Thanks for your comment on the Largest serving of balut article. Good point. Do you have any comment on the wording and design of the article? Domingokiro (talk) 16:27, 27 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Domingokiro! The article provides some good information about the event, good job! However, there are some sections of the article that sound overly promotional and don't give off the neutral point of view that Wikipedia is known for. For example, a lot of the quotes from Mayor Medina or the head of A+E Philippines are very complimentary about the event. It may have been a great event, but that's not a fact that can be proven. There are some good photos here that would be great to use when you merge some of that information into the Balut article. However, I would only choose 1 or 2 of the best pictures (in your opinion) that show Balut.
Here's how I might re-write it to add into the existing article:
In 2015, the city of Pateros, Philippines set the world record for the most people simultaneously eating Balut. The city, which is known for its Balut production, partnered with the Center for Culinary Arts (CCA, Manila) and the History (U.S. TV network), to set the record.[1] [2]

Chefs from the Center for Culinary Arts, led by by Chef Tristan Encarnacion prepared 1,000 pieces of balut into an adobo dish that was recorded to have weighed 117.5 kilograms.[3] In addition to setting the world record for most people simultaneously eating balut, the event organizers collected over 120 different recipes that include balut, hoping to change possible negative perceptions of the food.

Does that help? Bkissin (talk) 17:51, 27 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

This is our third time trying to submit our Wikipedia page, only for it to be rejected. I'm not sure what's promotional on the page. Would you be able to let me know so we can get our page approved.

Thanks. Carlkdm (talk) 15:21, 30 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I think what stuck out to me about as promotional were the sentences "Doug Cook has helped the company grow to over 200 employees since then. The company's spokesperson, Installer Dave, is featured in many of their commercials which have become a staple in Chicago TV."

That being said, I think the larger reason why this page keeps getting deleted is that it doesn't seem to fit Wikipedia's notability guidelines on companies. A small windows and doors franchise, no matter how many local commercials and charity drives it does, is not inherently notable enough for an article, and Wikipedia's purpose is not to be a business directory. Familiarize yourself with the notability guidelines linked in the last sentence, and see if you can find a way to have Feldco fit those guidelines. Bkissin (talk) 16:07, 30 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Bkissin

Good day Bkissin, you declined my article, I really want to know why. Hamilton Tushy (talk) 12:46, 23 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Hamilton Tushy (talk · contribs). Take Yung Kevyns for instance.

According to Wikipedia:Notability (music):
Musicians or ensembles (this category includes bands, singers, rappers, orchestras, DJs, musical theatre groups, instrumentalists, etc.) may be notable if they meet at least one of the following criteria.

Has Yung Kevyns done any of those things? If so, add the information to the article. Otherwise, I wish him the best of luck, and when he makes it big, we can re-evaluate the article. Thanks for asking! Bkissin (talk) 13:25, 23 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Siege of Ragnarok 25

Hi there i would like to know why my submission https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Siege_of_Ragnarok_25 was declined? I was just telling the story about a real player battle that took place in ARK: Survival Evolved, it's just a battle report i have no idea how that would be a game guide. Hello Huursa. Personally, I don't think either article is notable enough for Wikipedia. If it were up to me, the Bloodbath of B-R5RB would be deleted as well. Just because other stuff exists does not mean that an article should be on Wikipedia. The one thing that the Bloodbath article has over the Ragnarok article is that the battle itself was covered in reliable independent media sources (The article includes citations from Wired, Polygon, PC Gamer, The Verge, the Epoch Times and Discovery News). Even if I disagree with the article, the editors have made a compelling case for its inclusion. Bkissin (talk) 15:11, 29 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Draft review Floris Visser

Dear Bkissin, I am requesting a re-review on the article draft of Floris Visser, for I got the following reaction by you ": This submission appears to be taken from https://www.operamusica.com/artist/floris-visser/biography#biography. Wikipedia cannot accept material copied from elsewhere, unless it explicitly and verifiably has been released to the world under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license or into the public domain and is written in an acceptable tone—this includes material that you own the copyright to. You should attribute the content of a draft to outside sources, using citations, but copying and pasting or closely paraphrasing sources is not acceptable. The entire draft should be written using your own words and structure. Note to reviewers: do not leave copyright violations sitting in the page history. Please follow the instructions here."

The claim that the text appears to be taken from operamusica.com is simply not true. For operamusica.com clearly states a very old biography of director Floris Visser. Next to that: this specific biography of opera director Floris Visser on operamusica.com was taken from an old biography by Alferink Artists Management, his management worldwide, and the copyright on this lies with Alferink Artists Management. For while creating my contribution to Wikipedia I was in contact with Alferink Artists Management to get the latest and updated biographical material of director Floris Visser and specifically got it copyright free, to avoid any copyright claims, but also to check whether the information on operamusica.com (and other websites) was correct. For a lot wasn't up to date anymore according to other sources, so I rewrote most of it, added much from my own sources, triple checked a lot - note I used: over 70 sources & references -, and also left a lot out, otherwise the article simply would have gotten too long. So again: I was anyway forced to rewrite a lot, but the "source-biography" by Alferink Artists Management I specifically got copyright free. So my question now is: how should I proceed? I followed all the guidelines to my feeling, and did not violate any copyright rules. Please advice me, for this is my first contribution to Wikipedia, and I don't really know how to proceed at the moment, which I find a huge pity after all the hard work I put into creating this article. All best wishes, Giovannihofmann

Dear Bkissin, I hope this message finds you well. I would like to ask for your advice and help. After our contact on the page/article Floris Visser above, you moved it onto Wikipedia, thank you very much for that. I believe you agreed that I made my statement concerning the copyright clear. After that I got quite aggressively approached by another user who first stated I had a conflict of interest since I resolved the copyright issue with Alferink Management as stated above. After this was resolved - like with you - ; the user suddenly put the page on the speed deletion list and now it is gone. While I specifically referred to our contact and messages above. a. I am of course shocked how rude people can be in destroying months of works, but also b. how aggressive, unjust and slanderous these accusations and actions were. Is there anyway we can retrieve the page and where can I file an official complaint against this user? @Giovannihofmann: Hi Giovanni, Greetings to you. Understand that you are upset as you created page has been deleted (Floris Visser) so quickly. Wikipedia considers copyvio as a serious matter as it entails legal implications. Under Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, articles that infringe copyvio would be nominated for speedy deletion. Upon checking there are 3 articles involved which your article seemed to copy from, respectively 85%, 33% and 33% respectively of your article content. I have only reported the 85% article. I could not read the article now as it is deleted by DGG (admin). You have contested this nomination and sought help on four different talk pages (Floris Visser talk page, Article for Creation Help Desk, Bkissin's talk page and my talk page), for such I will move this conversation and the links to your talk page for consolidating all the "talks" in one page for DGG to assess and evaluate the validity the copyvio deletion. Draft:Albert Reuss declined on grounds of copyvio when this issue has already been resolved

Hello Bkissin I am very distressed that you have declined my article Draft:Albert Reuss on the grounds of copyvio, as this issue was resolved some time ago. I wrote the artuk article myself, and have taken the necessary steps to ensure that I can quote from it. Please see the comment below sent by RHaworth to Shadowowl and Primefac

Susan Soyinka was very puzzled and bemused when she was told that she could not use her own words in this article on the ArtUK website. The problem has now been corrected by the addition of Creative Commons and GFDL licence tags at the bottom the page. Primefac, Shadowowl and everybody else, please allow those words to be used here. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 13:14, 19 May 2018 (UTC)

Draft:Albert Reuss

Bkissin These are the words at the bottom of the artuk article, which are the exact words I was advised to use by a wikipedia editor. The editor at ArtUk kindly agreed to insert them:

"The text of this page is available for modification and reuse under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-Sharealike 3.0 Unported License and the GNU Free Documentation License (unversioned, with no invariant sections, front-cover texts, or back-cover texts)."

With regard to your comment about my sources:

"I will say that the article is well sourced, but it needs to be inline citations at the particular pieces of information, rather than on the headings of each section. Bkissin (talk) 22:03, 2 June 2018 (UTC)"

I have used plenty of inline citations. Where I have used citations for the heading, it is because that entire section is covered by that citation. Would you prefer these to go at the end of the section?

Hello. I think you unjustifiably rejected my article ("Melissa Martínez (fighter)")

You argued that 'Combate Americas' is not a "top-tier" MMA organization. That promotion has several top ranked fighters, not just regionally (in regions with hundreds of athletes), but world-level-wise. To cite some examples of fighters that belong to the 'Combate Americas' roster, that are top-ranked fighters by very well-recognized websites (like Tapology, Sherdog, Fight Matrix): Érik Pérez, ranked #33 bamtamweight in the world; Kyra Batara, ranked #20 atomweight in the world; and Melissa Martínez herself (the martial artist the 'draft' was created about), who is ranked, at strawweight, #9 in Latinamerica (amongst 268 fighters), #2 in Mexico, and #79 in the world; plus, she's a national champion in several martial arts; and she's a world champion in kickboxing, winning second place in the Worlds - Wroclaw, Poland (60Kg Womens division)... So please, let me create this page. I hope you understand. And also, have a good day — Preceding unsigned comment added by Andymman (talkcontribs) 15:58, 4 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I think your anger is misplaced. I didn't reject your article at all. I left a comment on the article because I wasn't sure whether the subject fit the Wikipedia requirements. In fact, in order to help your case, I brought in an expert from the MMA Wikiproject to give me a better idea before making a decision. It was a different user who rejected the article. That being said, submitting an article to Wikipedia can be a long process of trial and error, and it is important to take a positive attitude when dealing with other editors. AfCs

Thanks for you excellent work here, which is very much appreciated. Not that you are doing anything wrong, but I have two suggestions about things that I've recently learned:

When an article is promotional as well as having a non-notable subject, it is now possible to give both reasons. I do this whenever it applies, because to some extent promotionalism can be the more critical of the two, and giving it as a reason also discourages the usually promotional editpr from trying to continue with essentially unaltered versions that do not fix the main problem

At this time of year, we will get many articles that are school projects. Sometimes the project has students work on it in their sandbox, instead of off-wiki. Doing that is probably not a great idea, but we don't want to prescribe how other people must conduct their projects. (And some faculty get unreasonably angry if we appear to interfere with them when we don't really have to.) If it seems like the article is still being worked on, it's better to leave int in Sandbox space. If it's being worked on but is already ready for mainspace, sI sometimes suggest they move it to draft and submit it. If of course it has not been worked on for a while (as is likely to be the case by August), then if it has any possibilities, I certainly move it to draft space -- and if it is good enough, accept it.

Hope this helps DGG ( talk ) 05:46, 5 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

As a note, the second decline reason needs to be manually input with |reason2= with the reason one of the decline codes. Primefac (talk) 13:30, 5 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Primefac, there have been some improvements. The second reason no longer has to be entered manually. After entering the first reason, leave the cursor after the first reason, and select another. If necessary, click preview again to see both. Works about 90% of the time. DGG ( talk ) 15:59, 10 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks DGG and Primefac! :) I had no idea I could add a second reason! DGG, as for the school project issue, the sandbox in question had been submitted to the AfC list, and so I was merely trying to move it to the draftspace as we would any other article. I definitely see your point, though. I'll try to be a little more discerning when applicable. Bkissin (talk) 18:20, 5 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

RE: submission at Articles for creation: Silk Way West Airlines (June 14)

Hi Bkissin,

Silk Way Airlines and Silk Way West Airlines are two separate airlines with their own registrations with international authorities. They have their own IATA and ICAO codes and have two distinct call signs.

Silk Way Airlines: IATA Code ZP ICAO Code: AZQ Call Sign: SILK LINE

Silk Way West Airlines: IATA Code 7L* ICAO Code: AZG Call Sign: SILK WEST

Sources: IATA

Thanks,

Tinysparrow (talk) 18:34, 14 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Bissin,

One other note, Silk Way West Airlines provides service to the USA while Silk Way Airlines does not according to their flight schedules.

Speedy deletion contested: Draft:Michał Tyszkiewicz

Hello Bkissin, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I contested the speedy deletion of Draft:Michał Tyszkiewicz, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Not unambiguously promotional. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. LinguistunEinsuno (Linguist111) 20:17, 14 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

My apologies Linguist111. I viewed it as an unambiguous WP:AUTOBIO. If you know of a better CSD code for that, I'd certainly be open to hearing it. Bkissin (talk) 20:22, 14 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
No worries. Autobiographies don’t qualify for CSD per se, but the page looks like it would be more suitable in the creator’s userspace so you may want to consider discussing with the creator about userfying it. Cheers! LinguistunEinsuno (Linguist111) 20:54, 14 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hey Linguist111, thanks for your help. I was contacted by the original editor over Wiki E-mail, who asked for it to be Speedy'd, so I've added a G7 tag to the page. Bkissin (talk) 20:19, 15 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Jan de Keyser

Hi. I see you accepted Jan de Keyser out of AfC. From what I'm seeing it doesn't seem like he meets WP:NPOL given WP:POLOUTCOMES. What am I missing? Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 21:09, 14 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You make a good point Barkeep49. I had accepted a Belgian politician earlier who was a former member of the House of Representatives and a lobbyist for the Azeris but now also Mayor. The original article is up on the Dutch Wiki, though that's more of a WP:OSE cop-out than anything else. I think the argument becomes "Does Oostkamp count as at least a city of regional prominence to survive an AfD", as mentioned in WP:POLOUTCOMES. That is difficult to say, and by all means if you want to put the article up for AfD for not meeting WP:NPOL, I'll totally understand. Partially I'm trying to clear the backlog and some battles aren't worth dying over. Bkissin (talk) 21:33, 14 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks that's helpful, I'd have likely draftified it as part of WP:NPP and your context is helpful. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 21:40, 14 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Request on 16:57:17, 15 June 2018 for assistance on AfC submission by LuckyNumber85

Thanks for the comments. The coaster is currently built, however I understand that it may not be notable enough for wikipedia. However another coaster in the area The Branson Coaster that should have equal notability has an even less thorough article than the one I provided. My preference would be that both articles remain, because I think they are of interest, however I don't think I should be held to a different standard than the author of articles like that. Thanks for your time.

LuckyNumber85 (talk) 16:57, 15 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for being so understanding LuckyNumber85! There is an important rule around Wikipedia saying that "Just because other stuff exists, doesn't inherently mean that another thing should have an article". That being said, this provides you with an opportunity. I'll accept the Mountain Coaster article if you improve it to the standards of other roller coaster articles, and then we can work on improving the Branson Coaster article together. Added notable source

For the draft, 'Draft:Deji Olatunji (ComedyShortsGamer)', I have added a new notable news source/article specifically talking about the subject. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Duffy2509 (talkcontribs) 01:52, 16 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Chele Farley

I'm not sure what else you want me to add - Chele Farley is the only nominee for a major national party in a United States Senate election - this isn't some local city council election. She's been covered in Politico, The New York Post, the NY Daily News, Newsday, and many other local NY publications across the state. She's the GOP nominee and millions of New Yorkers will want information on who she is before election day, and one of the first places many people start looking for that is here on Wikipedia. YankeesFan85 (talk) 13:36, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure what else you want me to say. Here's a similar situation with a Democratic candidate for US Senate in Maine. If you want to try to appeal to a different editor or have assistance on trying to get this article submitted, ask for assistance in the Teahouse or the Articles for Creation Help Desk. Bkissin (talk) 13:51, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Why does this not qualify as "notable" coverage? Like I said, she's had entire articles and profiles about here in mainstream news sources. Here are a few examples. What about these fail to meet notability standards? These aren't just passing mentions, these are entire articles about her and her candidacy YankeesFan85 (talk) 14:17, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
There may be a case for general notability. However, all of these articles focus on her candidacy, which gives off the impression that she is notable for this one event. Unfortunately, my opinion isn't going to change on this one. Like I said before, you'll probably have better luck trying to convince another editor. Bkissin (talk) 14:34, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sarah Morey

Is there a reason you moved Sarah Morey out of draft space? The article relies heavily on primary sources and the subject seems to fail WP:BIO1E. Chris Troutman (talk) 02:15, 20 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Personally, I see a mix of both primary and secondary sources here. The History of Massachusetts blog, the Baker and Hill books, etc. As for WP:ONEEVENT, go ahead and submit it for AfD. There are plenty of other accusers and victims of the witch trials who have articles, but that's really more of an WP:OSE excuse than anything else. Bkissin (talk) 13:15, 20 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Edit that section, Go to the bottom, and paste in the information about Local Guides. I'll keep an eye on it today just in case the format needs to be tweaked. I hope that helps! Hi Bkissin, I understand you've declined the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Byteball page, since then I just came to the scene and wanted your opinion on the editing I have been doing. Could you please take a moment and look at the page and guide me :) thank you.

I appreciate you coming to me for advice O0Traveller, and for being so nice about it! :) Unfortunately, I'm probably not the best person to ask about this topic, because I don't know a lot about Cryptocurrencies and what makes one crypto more notable than another. Additionally, I think there are far too many people out there who are trying to promote their cyrptos on Wikipedia, when they could be gone in a matter of weeks. If you can find another editor at WP:TEAHOUSE who can give you a better idea, they might be a better source. Bkissin (talk) 21:36, 23 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Draft:James Stunt

Hi Bkissin,

Thank you for your very quick review of this submission, although I would take issue with your contentions and would also reiterate that there can be absolutely no, reasonable doubt that the subject meets the Wikipedia criteria for notability, as shown by the wide range of significant coverage in trustworthy, high quality sources that was cited with my submission.

All 18 sources are obviously independent, of high quality and reliable. To suggest otherwise is nothing short of being factually incorrect and even verges on showing deliberate bias against the subject. By way of example, the credentials from a selection of two of these sources are as follows:

Spear’s Magazine – http://www.spearswms.com/james-stunt-net-worth/ – Multi-award-winning wealth management and luxury lifestyle media brand whose flagship magazine has become a must-read for the ultra-high-net- worth (UHNW) community. It is also required reading for the affluent financial services community, including the bankers, lawyers and family offices who advise the wealthy. Since its launch in 2006, Spear’s has established itself as Europe’s leading wealth management authority

Apollo Magazine – https://www.apollo-magazine.com/james-stunt/ – Founded in 1925 and published monthly, Apollo is one of the world’s oldest and most respected magazines on the visual arts. The Apollo 40 Under 40 is a selection of the most talented and inspirational young people who are driving forward the art world today.

This is before you even consider globally renowned news organisations and newspapers such as BBC News, The Guardian and The Telegraph.

In addition to the above, were the subject not as described in my submission, none of these sources would have published the stories concerned. It is highly dubious to try and claim that coverage by these sources is insignificant, especially in the light of Wiki's notability criteria, which states : If the depth of coverage in any given source is not substantial, then multiple independent sources may be combined to demonstrate notability. So the various permutations of my 18 selected sources more than meets this benchmark.

Whether you like him or not, the subject is unquestionably a successful, entrepreneur of ultra-high-net-worth, as well as being a philanthropist who owns some of the most coveted art in the world, often making donations to public causes, as well as owning collection of rare classic cars and contributing to the highest echelons of British politics. This and much more places the notability of the subject beyond any genuine and reasonable doubt.

I believe the above satisfactorily responds to your arguments and I now intend to resubmit my relevant entry about the subject.

Respectfully Yours, SFP18 SFP18 (talk) 09:54, 28 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Just letting you know that although you declined creation of this template, Ggdivhjkjl created it anyway and deleted this text at Types of marriages. I think some will argue that the template has issues, including POV issues. The age field should at least include "Adult" with a pipelink to the Marriage article, since child and teen marriages are not the only marriages by age. The template also doesn't yet include same-sex marriage. But I'll leave this template topic up to others. Flyer22 Reborn (talk) 03:29, 29 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

John Hennessey Draft

User:michael.ramos1 Hi, you rejected my article on automotive tuner and racer John Hennessey. The first time I submitted it with the articles and publications he appeared in and I cited and listed them, the page was deleted for copyright.

Now, you are telling me, that there isn't any proof of his notoriety. I am in a catch-22 here. John Hennessey is a notable American automotive tuner. His builds have won awards and notoriety--a simple Google search would prove this. For example his Dodge Exorcist holds a speed record as fastest muscle car. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ramos.michael1 (talkcontribs) 14:29, 6 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I based my article on a similar size British group, whose notability is also similar: Epic 45 - who do have a wikipedia page, which if anything has less notability. HABITAS request for feedback

Hi Bkissin,

Could you please provide some feedback on why you rejected the HABITAS entry? I made every effort to be as neutral as possible and all the facts are backed up by 3rd party references/publications.

I would love to make changes or improvements but unless I missed something, I do not see any specific areas for improvement. I cross referenced the article with other similar initiatives such as Soho House or NeueHouse and I see no difference.

Brandon Taylorian article rejection

Dear User:Bkissin

This new section is relating to your rejection of the request to publish Draft:Brandon Taylorian. I need to take some time to address your concerns with the article's creation and publication.

It seemed your main concern was in relation to the notability of the subject. The subject's notability can be derived from the ability of the young person in subject to become a published author at the age of nineteen and to have founded his own company that is linked to his book series.

All references provided focus on Brandon Taylorian entirely, and involve direct discussions of him and his work rather than simply mentioning him, which seemed to be another of your concerns with the article.

You did also mention in your review that the article was biased. I must protest this statement as I have been very careful in my rewrite of the article and thought that I had surely removed all potential bias.

I very much look forward to hearing back from you regarding these issues with the article so that we may eventually achieve its improvement and publication.

I'm also referencing in User:RHaworth as he guided with me just over a month ago in trying to improve the article for publication. RHaworth, hopefully you see some improvement in the style, the wording, and the referencing of the article in comparison to your last encounter with it?

Kind regards,

Hello, my article for Alberta First was rejected because it is too similar to the Freedom Conservative Party of Alberta article. Alberta First requires its own article because it is a completely separate party from the Freedom Conservative Party. When I removed the Alberta First portion from the Freedom Conservative article it was immediately changed back, so I re-wrote an Alberta First article and when that one gets published I would remove the Alberta First portion from the Freedom Article. The Freedom Conservative Party is a new party and bears no relation to Alberta First. Thank you for your time. Hopefully I will here from you soon.

Looks like we came to the same conclusion at almost the same time on Draft:Gareth_Rhodes - is it ever possible to approve a draft and then send directly to AfD? I think this one would benefit from further discussion. SportingFlyer talk 02:08, 6 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I saw it happen with a draft about a bike company I approved. I'm not sure if we should move it from draftspace if we're unsure of its viability, especially if an AfD discussion already exists. We may also get criticism from people suggesting we have a political agenda for approving this particular candidate. I'm fine if you want to approve it and then AfD it, but I definitely have concerns. Bkissin (talk) 02:20, 6 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
That makes sense to me, especially considering the candidate lost the primary, there's probably not going to be a lot of additional coverage going forward. Probably best to wait for someone else to take a look at it. Thanks! SportingFlyer talk 02:26, 6 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I didn't even realize he lost the primary! If that's the case, then it absolutely should be declined. I thought he was the Democratic nominee, but I just looked it up after you told me! Bkissin (talk) 02:31, 6 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

What was the basis on which you accepted this draft? There are a grand total of 2 references in the article, and neither of them even mention the subject. Bradv 18:24, 17 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Bradv, upon google searching I was able to find a variety of other sources on the exercise, which fit the notability test for me. However, I did have an internal debate about whether or not to accept the draft given the number of sources referenced. Please be mindful or your tone when interacting with other editors, and assume good faith. In the future, you are more than welcome to join the team at WP:AFC and accept and decline articles yourself. We could use all the help we can get when working through the backlog. Otherwise, if you feel that the current article should be PROD'ed, then go ahead. Bkissin (talk) 18:48, 17 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
My apologies if my tone was off — I was merely asking on what basis this was accepted. I am a reviewer at AfC as well, and I usually either get the author to add references before I accept the article, or I add the other sources myself if they are available. So when I saw this I was curious and didn't want to take any further action without checking with you. Bradv 22:37, 17 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
No worries! I added a few more references to the article, including one that is not specifically tied to the military. Hope that helps. Bkissin (talk) 14:33, 18 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Reviewer -- you have declined my submission of the article Crazy Russian Dad and I wanted to follow-up:

1. You mentioned these are passing mentions. I disagree - as the article states, Crazy Russian Dad's main fame is within the Russian emigree circles, and as such is covered in the Russian-oriented sources, and not necessarily in the "mainstream" ones.

2. You mentioned that the sources are not independent of the subject. That is certainly not true - all references listed are independent publications that have no relations whatsoever to Crazy Russian Dad.

3. Here are a few additional references I did not include - can you please take a look if they help solidify the article:

- List Building Blog https://www.listbuildinglifestyleshow.com/095/

My Fruiticulture submission

9-7-18

My Fruiticulture submission was rejected because you wrote: "Thank you for your submission, but the subject of this article already exists in Wikipedia. You can find it and improve it at Pomology instead."

Fruiticulture is a new term. Times are changing and advances are being made in agriculture. Pomology is not synonymous with the new term Fruiticulture. The emerging term Fruiticulture means "a form of vegan permaculture agroforestry that focuses on fruit growing. This is not exactly Pomomology. Please allow the advancement of the lexicon by allowing this new definition of Fruiticulture.

08 Sep 2018

Copyrighted material? What are you talking about man? Material is from publicly posted website of government of India. How can that be copyright? If that is the case, 90% of wikipedia should deleted. You are being a mall-cop just because someone made you an editor. People like you are the information Nazis.

I have removed the redirect on Hurricane Florence (2018) as requested, but this does not make it possible for a non-administrator/reviewer to move the page. When attempting to move the page myself, I notice a large red comment stating that we must not manually move it, as it is necessary for page history to move with it. If you have the ability to move the page with its history, that would be greatly appreciated, otherwise I will temporarily re-redirect the mainspace article as to not leave a blank page. Thank you. Yosef Haim HaCohen

Hello. I see that you accepted this draft and moved it to Yosef Haim HaCohen. Can I ask whether you investigated the copyvio issue that I had flagged? Cordless Larry (talk) 04:12, 13 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Cordless Larry! I probably should have reached out to you as opposed to DrStrauss on this article, seeing as he has since left the website. I tried my best to do a re-write of the Biography and His Students sections of the article, so those should be generally OK CV-wise, and have been fixed with INCITE when necessary. I'm not sure how to approach the section about publications. I think my main goal was to fix the WP:WEASEL and promo language that DrStrauss mentioned in his comment, as well as clean up some of the citations. In looking at the talk page for the article, did anyone get back to you about receiving a faxed copy of the information? I tried googling the Magazine in question and was unable to find it. Bkissin (talk) 13:25, 13 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
No they didn't, unfortunately. I'm not sure how adding citations fixes the possibility of copyright violation (although it would help avoid the problem of plagiarism), but your rewriting will hopefully have ensured that the text is no longer identical to whatever the source of the translation was. Maybe we should have a go at rewording the publications section too, just to be sure? Cordless Larry (talk) 18:42, 13 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I definitely agree! I wasn't sure whether to have it there at all, because I was concerned about how to make the section not come off as promotional, but I will try my best.Bkissin (talk) 21:28, 13 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

On Innovation Culture review

Thank you for the review. Gradually, I am beginning to get a good grasp how articles must be written on here.Gmli82164 (talk) 22:50, 16 September 2018 (UTC)Gmli82164[reply]

No worries, Gmli8164. It takes us all a long time to figure out how to write good articles. Definitely seek help from the Teahouse or other editors and they will be more than happy to help you. Writing for Wikipedia is different than writing on another site. Because we are an encyclopedia, our main concern is not to write persuasively (to try and convince someone that something is good/bad) but instead to write the information in a way that educates the reader, but remains in a neutral point of view. This can be difficult, and even some of the best editors struggle with it from time to time. Remember to cite your sources and choose reliable sources when you are citing references. Good luck with everything and happy editing! Bkissin (talk) 23:13, 16 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Anti-corruption

I just saw that you decline my submission of Draft:Anti-Corruption and suggested integrating it into the article. Anti-corruption is a disambiguation though, which made me believe that merging an article with a disambiguation might not be the most appropriate way forward, as it would basically be only a replacement. I would have assumed that moving the disambiguation might be the better approach but also do have to admit that I might not be fully aware of the relevant policies in this specific regard. Best regards --WiR IACA (talk) 06:51, 18 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, that's the reason/history behind this article! I was wondering why such a big topic was in draftspace. I'm not exactly sure what to do. I think you made the right move bringing it over to draftspace. I'll leave a comment on the draft and get another editors opinion. Thanks for reaching out WiR IACA! Hello. I've noticed that you stated that the draft was declined because it's about an athlete and the submission didn't meet the notability guidelines. I wanted to say that the article is about a football club playing in the Egyptian Second Division, not an athlete. Just wanted to say this in case you didn't noticed it. I've also submitted the draft for review again. Thank you. Ben5218 (talk) 14:29, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ben5218! I did notice what the article was about. According to Wikipedia's notability guidelines for sports-related articles, This guideline does not provide any criteria for the presumed notability of sports teams. Teams are expected to demonstrate notability by the general notability guideline. According to Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Notability also gives guidelines on teams and football clubs. Wikipedia also has guidelines for soccer leagues they consider to be fully professional. In its current form, your draft doesn't meet any of those guidelines. Bkissin (talk) 14:37, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your reply. I was just confused because you stated that the draft is about an athlete and not a football club. Also I thought that Egyptian Second Division would be considered notable, but seems like I was wrong. Thanks for your time! Ben5218 (talk) 14:44, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
No worries Ben5218! When reviewing drafts, there are only a few options to tag a particular draft, and the comment about Athlete notability is the closest to WP:NSPORT. You could try to see if you can make the article pass the general notability guideline, but that can be tough. Thanks for understanding! Happy editing! :) Bkissin (talk) 14:51, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on User:Hemant gupta7/sandbox, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Deletion of my page "Emperor Maximilian Prize"

Hello Bkissin,

you deleted my newly created page "Emperor Maximilian Prize" due to copyright reasons yesterday evening.

Actually I can't see any violations, as the page where I copied the main ideas from is being owned/edited by myself...(https://www.kaisermaximilianpreis.at/en/Public-Tender)

Here is the proof: https://www.amtsweg.gv.at/innsbruck/start.do;jsessionid=CCDEAD0FB97468416D734BD218CE1C37?wfjs_enabled=true&vid=a275ba503175c37a&wfjs_orig_req=%2Fstart.do%3Fid%3DKMP_V1_0%26lang%3Den%26event%3Dview%26cancelurl%3Dhttps%253A%252F%252Fwww.kaisermaximilianpreis.at%252F%26sendurl%3Dhttps%253A%252F%252Fwww.kaisermaximilianpreis.at%252F&txid=e29ecc3c94427da8df7ee919d69aa2f5eea6956c&vid=a275ba503175c37a&wfjs_orig_req=%2Fstart.do%3Fid%3DKMP_V1_0%26lang%3Den%26event%3Dview%26cancelurl%3Dhttps%253A%252F%252Fwww.kaisermaximilianpreis.at%252F%26sendurl%3Dhttps%253A%252F%252Fwww.kaisermaximilianpreis.at%252F&txid=e29ecc3c94427da8df7ee919d69aa2f5eea6956c#

So, I guess the deletion was a misunderstanding, am I right?

In case that I am maybe mistaken, could you please give me some advice how to handle with this problem in the correct way? (as I am a new user on Wikipedia)

feedback please on Taoist Cowboys draft article

Hello. I'm wondering if you could please give me some specific feedback on the sources I'm citing? The Rentfro anthology features a chapter on the band and mentions of them in several other chapters. The Turczyn article and other Metro Pulse and Mercury and other retrospective articles are specifically about the band, not passing mentions. Or is there some other problem with the article or with these sources? (I'll watch this page, but you could post on my draft article's Talk page if you prefer.). Thank you! I would like to know why our post was declined for unreliable sources. If our source is approved but not the content, how can we improve our page, so it will be approved? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Iron_Shield_Networks

Because it relies on only one source. Take a look at TigerSwan as an example. It has a variety of sources from reliable publications that offer coverage that is independent of the company, meaning that they aren't press releases by the company, or written by someone in the company or taken directly from the company's website. Additionally, 1-2 sentences does not make a quality article. Plus "our post"? Are you involved with this company? If so, you should probably read Wikipedia's policies around conflict of interest and paid editing. Finally, thank you for bringing up Validas. Just because other stuff exists does not mean that everything gets a Wikipedia article. You are absolutely right, the article for Validas has no references and reads like it was copy-pasted directly from the company website. I have made sure that it will be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Bkissin (talk) 18:04, 2 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  1. Look at Wikipedia's policy for writing about yourself and Wikipedia's policy around Conflict of Interest
  2. None of the claims made in the article have been referenced by reliable sources
  3. I would look over Wikipedia's guidelines for who is notable enough to have a wikipedia article

Sean P. Jackson

Hello, I noticed that you denied my draft from being published again Draft:SeanP.Jackson. The reason being that my subject is not "notable" enough and that references are not speaking directly to my subject however all is quite the contrary. In fact, I've noticed that there are other pages of individuals who are LESS notable than my subject (ex.: Madison Gesiotto) but have still been published. Can you please reconsider or allow for an additional review? Thank you James Dobson (talk) 20:43, 8 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Just because other stuff exists does not mean that your article meets the notability criteria for Wikipedia. Thanks for bringing that other article to my attention. Emma's Revolution, now with more sources

Hello Bkissin,

I added more sources to the proposed article on Emma's Revolution. New sources include an academic paper attesting to their importance, as well as a Washington Post article featuring them as part of a "new movement". This is in addition to the NPR All Things Considered piece focused on one of their songs, and the New York Times article already cited. These are reliable sources, and not trivial. Activist folk music cannot be judged by pop music commercial standards, but when Pete Seeger says they're important, that seems notable. Can you tell me if I should resubmit? Thank you for your help! Hello, I do not agree with your statement “Submission is about a musician or musical work not yet shown to meet notability guidelines (AFCH 0.9)”

Looking at notability guidelines criteria #6 “Is an ensemble that contains two or more independently notable musicians…” you have to consider that the three members of the band already meet notability guidelines https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sara_Watkins https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarah_Jarosz https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aoife_O%27Donovan
