Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Aubscool2 (talk | contribs) at 01:45, 14 December 2020 (→‎Friendlyjordies). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Articles that vandalized by JAJAKOLIN KO SI PJ SANTOS

Semi-protection: Asking SEMI PROTECTION of these articles that vandalize by JAJAKOLIN KO SI PJ SANTOS. This user is keeping on creating many Wikipedia accounts to vandalize these articles so I requested to protect these articles. 120.29.66.122 (talk) 10:58, 11 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Note: user that vandalize the article (JAJAKOLIN KO SI PJ SANTOS) was blocked. 180.241.209.235 (talk) 11:15, 11 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Non-admin comment: Do we need to protect 7 articles and a user talk into "full protection"? In full protection, only the admins can allowed to edit these specific articles, which means all the registered and experienced users (like myself) cannot edit those pages. Also, the all user talk pages like User talk:PJ Santos, cannot be protected as it is not an article. For me, there's no need to protect these pages as the incidents were only minor. CruzRamiss2002 (talk) 14:22, 11 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    Changed Full-protection to Semi-protection. Sorry! 120.29.66.122 (talk) 15:13, 11 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I have added the account to Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/ELEPSI, which seems to be related. (Non-administrator comment) BegbertBiggs (talk) 22:22, 11 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: IP vandalism and disruption. Cognissonance (talk) 06:33, 12 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see a level of vandalism that would justify protection. This article is watched by multiple experienced editors, and there is nothing going on we can't take care of. Debresser (talk) 17:49, 12 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Vandal adding fake titles with the same IP range as checked with geolocation within the same week. CartoonnewsCP (talk) 06:59, 12 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary Semi-protection: Adding inappropriate titles and content vandal. Aravindan Lakshmikanthan (talk) 08:46, 12 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Edit warring, section blanking, content dispute between a "new user" and IP. Liberaldemocrat (talk) 10:45, 12 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Unregistered user keep insisting single is part of upcoming album when it's not as no provided sources referenced in the article have stated so. – Paper9oll | Talk:Paper9oll 11:15, 12 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Persistent disruptive editing. Semsûrî (talk) 11:16, 12 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. CLCStudent (talk) 12:34, 12 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Continued distruptive editting immediatly after previous protection expired.
    SSSB (talk) 12:37, 12 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. CLCStudent (talk) 13:14, 12 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. CLCStudent (talk) 15:25, 12 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Latest edit/revert contains a threat, can we just PLEASE protect this permanently with WP:SEMI/"semi-protection" and get rid of this nonsense?. Shearonink (talk) 16:32, 12 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Extended confirmed protection An IP editor is edit warring about a sentence that contains a spoiler, against talkpage consensus. We should start with a month, and if they come back make it permanent, probably. Debresser (talk) 17:49, 12 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content. Geraldo Perez (talk) 17:58, 12 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary Semi-protection: Specific personal information (Date of Birth) is being changed with multiple IP addresses Dumbo shaan (talk) 18:49, 12 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism by sockpuppets. Approximately 60% of edits to this page in the last month were from potentially undisclosed paid editing sockpuppets (recently blocked here), including four in just the last 24 hours. There's no evidence the recent blocks will stop the recreation of more socks. I think maybe a short, two day protection might be enough to disrupt the carousel. Chetsford (talk) 22:52, 12 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: High level of IP vandalism. KidAd talk 03:24, 13 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Has especially been picking up over last week. Hummerrocket (talk) 05:30, 13 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism by IP users. Asension (talk) 06:43, 13 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary full protection: Content dispute/edit warring. Elizium23 (talk) 07:13, 13 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content. Flix11 (talk) 07:49, 13 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary move protection: Page-move vandalism – Repeated moves to bad and unnecessarily complicated titles. The topic is getting attention in media in recent times. Nizil (talk) 14:30, 13 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. CLCStudent (talk) 14:53, 13 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: people keep remove Chinese provider this has happened at least three times recently and have been reverted back Fan Of Lion King 🦁 (talk) 16:55, 13 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Repeated genre changes by LTA problematic IP. Robvanvee 17:59, 13 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – LTA by IP hopper in the form of constant genre changes. This issue has been going on for several years and the article has been protected several times. Robvanvee 18:06, 13 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Repeated unsourced genre changes by disruptive IP hopping vandal. Robvanvee 18:11, 13 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Permanent semi-protection: Page is an irregular but consistent target for a very specific form of vandalism. Page is regarding age-related legal regulations and so vandalism seems to commonly be done with with intent to deceive others, with the most likely perpetrators being minors without registered accounts. I seem to be the only user who checks, as the last set was left up for several month, and I can't do this alone or forever.Legitimus (talk) 18:52, 13 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

autoconfirmed access protection: IP vandalism. Ibra IV (talk) 19:55, 13 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: The Help Desk is getting spammed with repeated requests to change info about a Muslim leader. Directing the questions to the article's talk page is not working. Please semi-protect for 24 hours. RudolfRed (talk) 20:24, 13 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent IP vandalism. SpectresWrath (talk) 22:56, 13 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary Semi-protection The page is being repeatedly vandalized in a short period of time. I think there are vandals coming together to attack the page. Arsonxists (talk) 23:12, 13 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary Semi-protection - While this article may deserve a "Criticism" section, an anon-IP keeps restoring a highly POV diatribe against this living person, written in exceedingly non-encyclopedic WP:TONE. --Tenebrae (talk) 23:51, 13 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary extended confirmed protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Restore ECP, I assume it was removed when full protection was temporarily added and then removed earlier today, but the previous ECP was due to be effective until January 2021. QueerFilmNerdtalk 00:00, 14 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Constant vandalism from specific IP who really and they haven't been blocked yet. Biglittlehugesmall65 (talk) 01:16, 14 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Consistent evidence of Sockpuppetry, as well as Disruptive Editing, and Vandalism, and even consistent misuse of Wikipedia Editing privileges to deliberately publish misleading/malicious content. Fairly controversial article, especially having just been described as "un-flattering" and "(the article) is as much of a battleground as Palestine" by the subject matter in recent content, risk of vandalism significant.Aubscool2 (talk) 01:40, 14 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: more editors will then be able to improve the draft if protection is removed so it can become an article in the future 117.206.244.15 (talk) 08:17, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not unprotected – Socks need not apply. Favonian (talk) 12:40, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reduction in protection level: From extended confirmed to autoconfirmed access. The current protection blocks the imporvement of the article, while the proposed one would also keep it safe from vandalism. Berri didn't play a major role in the Arab-Israeli conflict. Ibra IV (talk) 18:53, 13 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Reduction in protection level: From extended confirmed to autoconfirmed access. The current protection also blocks the imporvement of the article. Vandalism on this page was made only by IPs/unregistered account, meaning that an autoconfirmed protection would keep it safe from vandalism. Aoun is unnotable in the Arab-Israeli conflict. Current requests for edits to a protected page

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
