Chimera Linux is an independent[2] Linux distribution that aims to provide an alternative to GNU-based systems, but without explicitly excluding GNU or GPL software.[3][4][5][6] The main things it uses that are different from other, more popular distributions are:

  • chimerautils userland software based on FreeBSD
  • the musl libc
  • the LLVM toolchain
  • the Dinit init
  • opendoas from OpenBSD instead of sudo
  • PipeWire audio stack
  • Alpine Package Keeper v3 (Alpine itself uses v2)
