Tirupati Airport (also known as Renigunta Airport) (IATA: TIR, ICAO: VOTP) (Telugu :తిరుపతి విమానాశ్రయము) is located at Tirumala - Tirupati in Chittoor Dist in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. The airport is situated at a distance of 14 km from Tirupati city. The government in January 2012 announced that by February 2013, night landing facilities would be installed at the airport and 400 acres of land would be acquired to upgrade it to international status.[1]

International airport

On 8 October 2008, the Government of India announced that it will upgrade Tirupati Airport providing wider choices of air travel.[3]

The Prime Minister of India Shri Manmohan Singh laid the foundation stone for Tirupati International Airport on September 1, 2010[4]
