    Shortcuts

    Requests for undeletion is a process intended to assist users in two cases. The first case is restoring pages or files that were uncontroversially deleted via proposed deletion, under certain speedy deletion criteria (such as maintenance deletions (G6) or stale Articles for creation drafts (G13)), or in deletion debates with little or no participation other than the nominator. In the second use case, this page is also intended to serve as a central location to request that deleted content be "userfied", i.e., restored as a draft or emailed to you; this way, the content can be improved upon prior to re-insertion into the mainspace, or used elsewhere (you may also make a request directly to one of the administrators listed here).

    This means that content deleted after discussion – through deletion processes – may in some cases be provided to you, but such controversial page deletions will not be overturned through this process but through deletion review instead. Copyright violations and attack pages will not be provided.

    Do not request that pages or media deleted under speedy deletion criteria F7, F9, F11, U5, A7, A9, A11, G3, G4, G10, G11 or G12 be undeleted here.

    @C.Fred: WP:DRAFTIFY is always an option I guess, and is sometimes the outcome at AfD; however, such a thing only makes sense if someone is going to be working on the draft. Stevenxlead is the editor who requested that the article be restored, and if they intend on improving it either as an article or as a draft then there's no reason why they shoudn't be given the chance to do so. The "problem" is that Stevenxlead appears to edit infrequently which means that leaving the article in the mainspace as is for too long increases the likelihood of it ending up at AfD, whereas leaving unedited in the draft space for too long might cause it to be tagged for speedy per WP:G13 or end up at WP:MfD. -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:47, 30 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    @Marchjuly and C.Fred: I would be in favour of draftification for several reasons. Having (or in this case, being) a "revolutionary product" is not a good reason to recreate the article, and there was indeed reason to delete the article, unlike what is claimed in the request. The article has, from the start, consisted mostly of unsourced statements; the few statements that are sourced reference the product's own website. The notability of the product is also questionable; I checked the custom search engine of the Video games WikiProject, resulting almost entirely in minor news blurbs, but no in-depth coverage outside a handful of interviews, as would be required per WP:SIGCOV.
    All of this went unnoticed because the page has virtually no watchers, up until Lyndsayclose approached editors of WPVG (including myself), remarking that the article was highly inaccurate. This, combined with the poor sourcing, knife-edge notability, and what is seemingly ad-speak, caused the deletion in the first place. The article is now restored, but it still needs a complete rewrite in order to come close to Wikipedia's core guidelines (notability, verifiability, neutrality). For this purpose, draftspace is a far better suit. Unless MfD'd, it will also survive there for six months before being speedy-deleted, which is plenty of time to address the core issues. If no one comes around to fix the draft within six months, deletion would be the better option anyhow. IceWelder [✉] 07:44, 30 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    @IceWelder: That's fine with me, but a G13 deletion might just lead things back to here at some point. The article was prodded back on December 23, 2019, and Stevenxlead was notified on their user talk of the prod by Þjarkur on that same day. Nobody deprodded the article so it was eventually deleted by Ceyockey on December 31, 2019. As I mentioned above, Stevenxlead appears to edit infrequently (which if fine) and from their contributions history it appears that they did not edit at all from the around the middle of November 2019 until around middle of February 2020; so, they it's fair to assume that they weren't aware of the prod and there's nothing wrong with anyone challenging a prod at a later date, even after the article in question has been deleted. I'm not sure why discussion about this ended up on Explicit's user talk page since he wasn't the admin who deleted the article, but it might be because of AmBX UK LTD, an apparently related article which was deleted by Explicit in February 2020. Stevenxlead last edited the AmBX article back in 2012, but based upon their REFUND request they seem to be interested in improving it; however, it would be good to hear just how interested they are in doing so. If they're planning to address the Wikipedia concerns raised by you and others about the article content as well as the reasons while Lyndsayclose wanted the article deleted, then that could turn out to be a good thing for Wikipedia; in such a case, draftifying the article makes sense. On the other hand, if it's just going to sit untouched as a draft until it's deleted per G13 and then another REFUND request is going to be made, then that doesn't really make any sense. So, if six months pass and the draft does end up eligible for speedy deletion per G13, then perhaps at that time MfD would be the best way to try and sort things out once and for all. FWIW, if anyone opposes boldly draftifying the article and tries to move it back to the mainspace, then AfD right might be the only way to resolve things. -- Marchjuly (talk) 22:15, 30 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This could be because people are busy with more important things at the moment, but this thread is close to being archived; so, unless anyone objects, I think the suggestion made by C.Fred above to WP:DRAFTIFY this might be the best way to give anyone whose interested in improving the article the chance to do so, while avoiding WP:AFD for the time being. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:42, 6 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

    I know that it may be too late, but if I would have known that this page for the "Gather 'Round (TV series)" was targeted for deletion, I would have suggested that it be merged with the Paul M. Lally page. Because Mr. Lally was the host of this short lived TV series that was on PBS. Could it still be merged with the Paul M. Lally page even though the page and the information on the TV series has been deleted? Thanks in advance for any answers.     I created a Malayalam article as per the Project wiki loves women 2000. After that to start to create English article and found there is one Article for Majiziya Bhanu with single line description created by user User:MasoomBaccha. I developed the article. Once I found there is some wrong personal information added to this article by user MasoomBaccha and I delete this. Then Author User:MasoomBaccha requested to delete the article and it was deleted 30 March 2020 . I requested for Un deletion and the article restored yesterday ( 31 March 2020) . Author User:MasoomBaccha again requested to delete the article and deleted yesterday ( 31 March 2020)

    User:Zzophia/sandbox

    I have been saving material for days in my Sandbox, so that I eventually could write an article! And now all is gone!! It seems like someone called Creffett have deleted it! When I tried to contest the nomination for speedy deletion by visiting the page suggested, I just end up at my empty sandbox. As far as I understand you are able to write and experiment how much you want in your own sandbox, so I don't understand why anyone would go there and delete it?!? Specially without any prior discussion! If I had published the article, it would be another thing but it was far from ready for publication. I'm new here and I feel trample on and unwelcome at Wikipedia by this incident. How can I get the information back? Zzophia (talk) 11:12, 1 April 2020 (UTC) 

       Zzophia, as the material was copyright infringing, we can't host it in any way, as we would be violating copyright law by doing so.
   Although users have a fair amount of freedom to do what they want in sandboxes, copyright law overrides this.
   An admin may be willing to email you the contents of the sandbox - you could ask the deleting admin, or ask at wp:refund. ~~ Alex Noble/1-2/TRB 11:18, 1 April 2020 (UTC)

    How to possibly avoid this problem 

       Zzophia, I feel your pain. Wikipedia reviewers and the likes tend to lean towards the negative before they give you a chance. I am guessing it is a power trip of some sort, even if unintentional. As to your issue, another person I know who has created several articles in Wikipedia told me they draft their articles in Notepad++, then when it is ready they toss it into their sandbox. If you did something similar, you may be able to avoid any copyright issues, which should increase your chances of actually helping this beast called wikipedia.        Alex Noble, :RobertJTurner, thanks to both of you. I had copied sources, made them into block quotes and made a correct source description of each one, to remember where the original information was from so not to get confused I would write the article. It was a work in progress and of course I was not going to publish it that way, that's why it was still unpublished in my Sandbox. If someone had talked to me about it prior to deleting, I could easily have made changes accordingly to what's acceptable for Wikipedia and moved the unacceptable parts somewhere outside WP. Deleting someone's Sandbox without a discussion and a chance to make amendments seems destructive instead of helpful and inclusive.     My article was deleted by a reviewer with reason - "Deleted page Copula in Signal Processing (G12: Unambiguous copyright infringement: Text copied from http://www.academia.edu/download/50416335/Embedded_Correlation_in_Time_Varying_Cop20161119-22911-25awa7.pdf". I explained to the reviewer that the url provided is a broken link and that this is my own MSc work, which was uploaded to another website (researchgate.net) by me. Neither academia.edu nor researchgate.net has the copyrights for this work. The review thinks my article may not be acceptable in the current form so I agreed to re-write it (the discussion is here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:David_Eppstein#copyrighted_material_added_to_Wikipedia, under title 'copyrighted material added to Wikipedia').

    Can my deleted article 'copula in signal processing' be restored as a draft, so that I can re-write it. The article has many mathematical equations in it which are very time consuming to type in?

    Hi,

    I don't know why the Wikipedia article that I wrote was deleted.

    It was about a Romanian high school called Liceul Dimitrie Cantemir Babadag.

    Although the page was not perfect, it was not disputed by other users, and it belonged to the category Licee din Romania (High schools in Romania - https://ro.wikipedia.org/wiki/Categorie:Licee_din_Rom%C3%A2nia) which still has lots of pages about Romanian High schools just as there are many Wikipedia pages about High schools all around the world.

    I was surprised about this deletion since I did not get a notification about it on my email address.

    I would kindly want to ask you to restore my deleted page or at least send me a draft of my web page since I did not save the material in any other form.

    • @Cataalex81: that page has never existed on the English Wikipedia and you have no deleted contributions on this wiki. Did you write it on the Romanian Wikipedia?
