IP editor changing spellings and language of main name parameter in infobox

An IP editor is currently changing lots of Pakistan related articles such as this to move or remove the English name from the title of infoboxes and changing spellings of places in various articles such as this to be different from the article title. Unfortunately, they appear to be using a dynamic address and so are hard to block. They are from this IP range. Can someone try to communicate with them to get them to stop please. noq (talk) 21:11, 14 November 2012 (UTC)

Green Party of Pakistan ?

Someone seems to be perpetuating a hoax with an article Green Party of Pakistan-- a lot of false and fake info is given there, please check and also see talk page for my detailed comments. An athlete's name is also being misused there as purported 'chairman' of this so-called party. I hope that WP Pakistan will wake up and fix this thanks Hamneto (talk) 11:29, 25 November 2012 (UTC)Hamneto

I was going to nominate it for speedy deletion for being a hoax, but a cursory search suggests that this article is not a hoax, rather this political party do exists, besides it is also registered with the Election commission of Pakistan. But I can't comment on its notability in terms of the Wikipedia's Notability guideline. --SMS Talk 16:00, 25 November 2012 (UTC)

Indus logo proposal

On the Iraq wikiproject tag, there is an ancient cultural symbol presumably from the babylonian period. I propose a similar image for the wikiproject Pakistan tag: http://downloads.bbc.co.uk/rmhttp/schools/primaryhistory/images/indus_valley/food_and_farming//i_tiger_seal.jpg

if people don't want to replace the Pak flag that's fine. The IVC symbol can be placed below the flag. it would be good for promoting Pakistani cultural heritage. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.226.203.145 (talk) 02:27, 26 November 2012 (UTC)

L K Advani mentioned in Jinnah assassination attempt.

Hi, I tried to find references online related to this allegation.

I could not find justifiable information to make this statement. If possible could we provide more information on the FIR number and images if any? If not these will be gross allegations made against a person and should be removed/edited.

I only found a couple of articles on some news papers and board chat rooms on the net. Should this information be substantive enough to level such charges in Wikipedia?

Please advise. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ayusman (talkcontribs) 21:10, 28 July 2013 (UTC)

Well, its a borderline case for me as far as notability is concerned though there are a number of news sources but I don't find the in-depth coverage of the subject. This is a university that was set up in 2009 but yet to have a campus (building) of its own as it was housed in already built college/s that was renamed and made its constituent. Malik Noureed Awan

Malik Noureed Awan needs some serious attention. Currencies need to be added. It needs some serious copy-editing. Inline citations need to be added. Items not referenced from the single independent source need backing from reliable sources, with in-line citations of course (this is a biography of a living person).

There is also the issue of factual accuracy pointed out by the URLs on the talk page.

Frankly, I'm not even sure if he's notable but I held off tagging it with {{notability}} until I or someone else researches him a bit more.

Please help if you can. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 21:44, 24 September 2013 (UTC)

Using Nastaliq fonts by default for Urdu

Hello, everyone... I actually wanted to abolish the use of {{Nastaliq}} for rendering Urdu text in Nastaliq. As Lfdder suggested, I wnted to know the opinion of people here if we should incorporate a couple of lines of code to MediaWiki:Common.css so that Urdu text is rendered by default in Nastaliq font just by using {{lang-ur|...}} or {{lang|ur|...}}:

:lang(ur) {
    font-size: 150%;
    font-family: "Urdu Typesetting", "Jameel Noori Nastaleeq", "IranNastaliq", "Nafees Nastaleeq", "Nafees Nastaleeq v1.01", "Nafees", "Pak Nastaleeq", "PDMS_Jauhar", "Alvi Lahori Nastaleeq", "Fajer Noori Nastalique", sans-serif;
}

I hope people do not have any objection to this here...Шαмıq  тαʟκ @ 07:12, 6 October 2013 (UTC)

Tribes in census

Did the 1998 census records tribal names/population etc and did it ascribe terms such as Muslim Rajput to them? I've just had a look here and cannot spot it but the site is mostly summary data. - Sitush (talk) 08:23, 22 November 2013 (UTC)

That's helpful, thanks. Would a "district census" in 1998 be different from a national census? That may be where I'm going wrong: I assumed that the district census formed a part of the national one but perhaps it is a completely separate exercise. - Sitush (talk) 22:37, 22 November 2013 (UTC)
As much as I can recollect my memory and join the tid bits available online, district census was part of the national census. I've twice removed BLPPRODs from the Muhammad Ayub (Athlete) article, since it says he is dead and BLPPROD is for living people. However, the article is still unsourced and in need of a lot of cleanup. I think he is probably a notable person, since the article says he was an Olympic athlete. However, I also think the claims in the article might be exaggerated. The article Pakistan at the 1956 Summer Olympics says that he competed but failed to qualify for the final in discus, while his article says he earned a bronze medal . . . one of the two must be wrong. Anyway, I was hoping that someone could take a look at the article and if possible clean it up. Calathan (talk) 17:42, 7 March 2014 (UTC)

Is WikiProject Pakistan sleeping?

Lilpiglet has made significant changes to a lot of long time established Pakistan related articles changing the meanings and concept of most of the stuff which changes outlook of Pakistan significantly, i tried to revert her to the best of my abilities but now it's kind of turning into an edit war and i want to stop reverting her and want a third person someone other than me or her to look at those edits and decide what is right or wrong, here are the few pages where this is currently going on:

  • Lahore: She is adamant to remove the image of Vogue Tower and remove the reference to Lahore being 8th largest city of Islamic world, i also suggested a better looking Urdu text for Lahore which was also removed by her.
  • Dominion of Pakistan: She is adamant to include "God Save the King" and "God Save the Queen" as Dominion of Pakistan's first two anthems and there are no sources to prove that, sources given by her at talk page do not confirm that.
  • List of Pakistan Movement activists: She is adamant to change the term Founding Fathers to Founders and she has also removed a huge chunk of information from the article, in order to revert me, she is also reverting whatever intermediary changes were made to the article, for example removing Raja Ghazanfar Ali Khan from the list of founding fathers.
  • Ayub Khan (President of Pakistan): She is adamant to refer Queen Elizabeth II in a description of a picture as former Queen of Pakistan. First of all it is questionable whether she can be referred such as, even if she can be referred as former Queen of Pakistan still what is the reason to stress upon it, while at the same time she can also be referred as Queen of India, Queen of Burma and queen of som many other dominions. Wouldn't it be better to change the description from "former Queen of Pakistan and Ayub Khan" to "Queen Elizabeth II and Ayub Khan".
  • LGBT rights in Pakistan: She is adamant to quote text from speech of Hina Jillani which has no reference to Pakistan, does not make sense what that speach has to do with LGBT rights in Pakistan.

Someone please take a look at these pages and her other contribs because she is on a mission to change Pakistan related articles in a big way, she is changing the text in a way that sometimes gives a total opposite meaning than what it was before.

And mind you she is taking most of the stuff from her grandfather's diary and putting it on Wikipedia as she claims at Talk: Dominion of Pakistan which is WP:OR. Sajjad Altaf (talk) 16:57, 13 March 2014 (UTC)

I am surely going to take a look at it if anyone else doesn't beat me to it, but if you are going to delete it any time soon, please add the content either to the talk page or to the article and revert, so I can take a look at it when I have some more time. -- SMS Talk 20:50, 25 March 2014 (UTC)

Help with sourcing?

I have a big favor to ask. The article Choorian (1963 film) was up for AfD in November and ran relatively undetected since that point in time. (I just closed it as no consensus.) The issue here is that there's an obvious language and time barrier, since any sources will likely be in Punjabi and not all of them will be located on the Internet. Can anyone here look for sources? I'd really appreciate any help anyone can give! Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 03:27, 25 April 2014 (UTC)

Hoaxes or just poorly sourced?

Can someone review some contributions of User:Atifsati. As I noted on his talk, most of them seem to be impossible to verify in English. Perhaps they are missing Arabic script names for subject and references, and could be verified this way, but as they look now many of them look pretty hoax-ish. I am well aware of systemic bias against Arabic topic, so I hope we can verify and save them before any mass deletion proposals start potentially wasting time and antagonizing people. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 08:33, 19 May 2014 (UTC)

Leaflet For Wikiproject Pakistan At Wikimania 2014

Hi all,

My name is Adi Khajuria and I am helping out with Wikimania 2014 in London.

One of our initiatives is to create leaflets to increase the discoverability of various wikimedia projects, and showcase the breadth of activity within wikimedia. Any kind of project can have a physical paper leaflet designed - for free - as a tool to help recruit new contributors. These leaflets will be printed at Wikimania 2014, and the designs can be re-used in the future at other events and locations.

This is particularly aimed at highlighting less discoverable but successful projects, e.g:

• Active Wikiprojects: Wikiproject Medicine, WikiProject Video Games, Wikiproject Film

• Tech projects/Tools, which may be looking for either users or developers.

• Less known major projects: Wikinews, Wikidata, Wikivoyage, etc.

• Wiki Loves Parliaments, Wiki Loves Monuments, Wiki Loves ____

• Wikimedia thematic organisations, Wikiwomen’s Collaborative, The Signpost

For more information or to sign up for one for your project, go to:

Is "Amir Zeb" one word or two?

Hi, I am copyediting Miangul Asfandyar Amir Zeb, which styles his name both as "Amir Zeb" and as "Amirzeb" (and one time "Amir zeb"). The same issue occurs on the pages of his relatives, Miangul Jahan Zeb and Miangul Aurangzeb. Naturally, Googling his name yields examples of both forms. I am hoping that someone here might know which is the preferred version. Many thanks, Tdslk (talk) 18:28, 2 July 2014 (UTC)

Your assistance is needed!

Lyallpur (disambiguation), which currently redirects to Faisalabad, has been nominated for deletion at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2014 September 27#Lyallpur (disambiguation). It used to point at Lyallpur when that was a disambiguation page between Faisalabad and Lyallpur Town. Lyallpur Town, apparently a metropolitan area of Faisalabad, was deleted in 2010 in circumstances I don't yet fully understand and Lyallpur redirected to here.

The RfD discussion needs your input on whether Lyallpur Town have an article, and if so what is the primary topic for "Lyallpur" - Faisalabad, Lyallpur Town or the disambiguation page. Please comment at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2014 September 27#Lyallpur (disambiguation) to keep discussion in one place. Thanks, Thryduulf (talk) 12:17, 27 September 2014 (UTC)

Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Wikipedia struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time! An online survey is being planned late October 2014 targeting the English Wikipedia readers from Pakistan, in order to understand readers and their relationship with Wikipedia. This survey will give comprehensive analysis of Wikipedia's readers from Pakistan.

The main purpose of this survey is to learn about readers of Wikipedia readers from Pakistan and to understand why they don't contribute. We'll gather baseline demographic data about readers, their opinion about Wikipedia, their editing behaviour and understand device their ecology. Any comments? --Saqib (talk) 18:15, 23 October 2014 (UTC)

Hi Saqib, sorry for the late comment. Can you post the survey results here when they are available? Secondly, if the survey data is still being collected, it would be a good idea to post the link here so that WP:PAK members can help collect data from those Pakistani wikipedia readers who do not other wise contribute. It might also be a good idea to request at Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)‎ to put up a notice for the survey link that goes only to readers from Pakistan on top of pages if they are not logged in to an account. If you are sharing the results on wiki, I guess they'll be willing to do it and all you'll need is a consensus here (which I am sure you can get). A notice on wikipedia will get you way more input from readers than any other method. --lTopGunl (talk) 10:37, 9 November 2014 (UTC)
Sure, I will publish the results. The survey is launched today and a central notice banner will be shown soon on English and Urdu Wikipedia targeting both loggoed-in as well logged-out users from Pakistan. Here's the link to survey anyways. --Saqib (talk) 11:56, 9 November 2014 (UTC)

Someone has made hundreds of pages of railway stations in Pakistan. see the link: https://tools.wmflabs.org/bambots/cwb/bycat/Pakistan.html#New%20articles I am a new member and was looking to cleanup and this is what i found. Who wants to know about each and every station in Pakistan? And that too with one line in each article. Please delete all these pages from Wikipedia...— Preceding unsigned comment added by Sohebbasharat (talkcontribs)

Something such as a railway station is obviously notable if it is proven that it exists. All cities and towns are notable too. If you don't want to know about every railway station in the country, you should go and browse other topics. Try not to undermine efforts of editors who are doing content creation such as this in a greatly under covered topic. Feel free to expand the articles to more than one line though as per WP:VOLUNTEER. --lTopGunl (talk) 13:49, 16 November 2014 (UTC)

Resolved

I'm only adding this here since it was added to WT:INDIA so as to give the stub list atleast some chance of being neutral in face of the possibility that only WT India was informed for canvassing of shared POV. Lists are supposed to be a reflection of what the actual linked articles say. And an editor who couldn't get consensus at Kargil war main article to change the infobox to his favoured version is now edit warring at this obscure list to unilaterally add it. I'll like to have some neutral eyes on it. Another editor has now blatantly changed two war summaries to 'defeat' while the articles state something completely different and without getting a consensus there in one case while specifically failing to get their preferred consensus there at the other. --lTopGunl (talk) 07:00, 27 November 2014 (UTC)
