Revision as of 11:34, 27 August 2019

Welcome. Please note that this page is NOT for challenging the outcome of deletion discussions or to address the pending deletion of any page.

Requests for undeletion is a process intended to assist users in restoring pages or files that were uncontroversially deleted via proposed deletion, under certain speedy deletion criteria (such as maintenance deletions or rejected Articles for creation drafts), or in deletion debates with little or no participation other than the nominator. This page is also intended to serve as a central location to request that deleted content be userfied, restored as a draft or emailed to you so the content can be improved upon prior to re-insertion into the mainspace, or used elsewhere (you may also make a request directly to one of the administrators listed here). This means that content deleted after discussion—at articles for deletion, categories for discussion, or miscellany for deletion among other deletion processes—may in some cases be provided to you, but such controversial page deletions will not be overturned through this process. Copyright violations and attack pages will not be provided at all.

This page is only for requesting undeletion of pages and files which have already been deleted. If the page you are concerned about is still visible, but has a warning message (template) at the top, please do not post here, but follow the instructions in the template or on your talk page. Please do not request that pages deleted under speedy deletion criteria A7, G4, G5, G11 or G12 be undeleted here.

Note that requests for undeletion are not a replacement for deletion review. If you feel an administrator has erred in closing a deletion discussion or in applying a speedy deletion criterion, please contact them directly. If you discuss but are unable to resolve the issue on their talk page, it should be raised at Wikipedia:Deletion review, rather than here.

    Instructions for special cases

    Draft:Acellus Academy

I, Tigereye7, request the undeletion of this draft or Articles for creation submission deleted under CSD G13. Please restore the page as I intend to work on it. Tigereye7 (talk) 21:14, 16 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I think this would have qualified for speedy deletion as blatant advertising in addition to G13, but I don't object if someone else wants to restore it. Hut 8.5 15:11, 18 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that the page needs a lot of work regarding the tone and references but based on available references its accreditation, I think it is significant. Please move it back to draft so it can be worked on and, if appropriate, resubmitted for review. Thank you. --Tigereye7 (talk) 16:24, 19 August 2019 (UTC)  [reply]
Hmm. User:Tigereye7, this article was tagged for G11 deletion (courtesy ping to User:DGG), but the deleting admin User:RHaworth deleted it as G13 which is refundable (although I note that the draft had not been abandoned for 6 months).
I think that, given your belief that the institution is notable and your assurances that you will work on it, the right thing to do in this venue is to restore the draft. This decision explicitly does not preclude another user (including DGG) from re-tagging it for speedy deletion. If that happens, and an admin chooses to delete it under a non-refundable criterion, the issue will have to be raised at WP:DRV instead. --kingboyk (talk) 17:03, 26 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Done – as a draft or Articles for creation submission deleted under CSD G13, the page has been restored upon request. Drafts and Articles for creation are not for the indefinite hosting of material found to be unsuitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. --kingboyk (talk) 17:03, 26 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    • @Blue windy muso: according to your link the image dates from 1970. Unless the person who uploaded it to Flikr is the original copyright holder (from 1970) then the fact somebody uploaded a photo of it to Flikr in 2011 and tagged it with a free licence means nothing, because the copyright will still be with the person who created the work originally. Which means we can't use it here. Hut 8.5 21:09, 19 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    Eric Solis

I have reviewed the claim made that this page violates G11 which notes that "If a subject is notable and the content could plausibly be replaced with text written from a neutral point of view, this is preferable to deletion."

I do not believe the page uses promotional language. If this is the case, I would like to see an example of this language and would be happy to revise. Also, the page primarily uses citations from recognized media sources.

Additionally, the subject is notable, with multiple patents and industry recognition. The administrator who conducted the deletion seems to have a proclivity for Speedy Deletion, which is very troubling. If we want to have a discussion about improving this page, I believe that would be a more appropriate route rather than speedy deletion. —GhostDust (talk) 06:19, 20 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Not done - this page was deleted in accordance with criterion for speedy deletion G11. If you believe that this decision was made in error, or that significant new information has come to light since the deletion, please contact the administrator who carried out the deletion, RHaworth (talk · contribs). If you have already done so, your concerns can be taken to deletion review. — JJMC89(T·C) 06:25, 20 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@LindokuhleShiba: First off, you are obligated to disclose this relationship formally. Second, we can't cite anything from his press kit, a biography written at his direction, or government documents (such as business registrars). Third, every claim made about a living person MUST be backed up by a strong third-party source or else it must be deleted. Fourth, the existing draft is borderline promotional. —A little blue Bori v^_^v Bori! 21:32, 20 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
    • @LindokuhleShiba: there is literally no content in the deleted version of the draft, just the notice marking it as a draft, so there is nothing to restore. This page deletion was recent and discovered when an attempt was made to update the article content with recent material of regional significance, as well as the addition of a significant number of reliable, independent, and secondary sources. This would include the replacement for the primary source hyperlink that has since be deactivated and cited as evidence for the proposed deletion.

More specifically, material will be submitted that will easily demonstrate that the article subject is a "major local political figure who has received significant press coverage" and who "meets the general notability guideline" of Wikipedia.

Note: The page was deleted as a result of a deletion debate. Admins will not undelete pages that were deleted with discussion here; go to WP:Deletion review or contact the administrator that closed the deletion debate instead. —A little blue Bori v^_^v Bori! 21:33, 20 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Not done – this Requests for Undeletion process is only for articles that were deleted uncontroversially, and does not apply to articles deleted after a deletion discussion. Since the article you are here about was deleted after a discussion took place at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jay Schneiderman, it cannot be undeleted through this process. However, if you believe that the outcome of the discussion did not reflect the consensus of the participants, or that significant new information has come to light since the article was deleted, you may contact the administrator who closed the discussion, RL0919 (talk · contribs). After you do so, if your concerns are not addressed and you still seek undeletion, a request may be made at deletion review. --kingboyk (talk) 18:21, 26 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If it is a notable topic, e.g., multiple reliable, secondary, published sources that are entirely independent of the subject have written about it in substantive detail (not just mere mentions), then a neutrally written article may be possible. This one was written like a commercial.

    File:1917.mp3

Speech of Eleftherios Venizelos in 1917, it is PD-70. I cannot find the file in the deletion log (maybe it was deleted before mediawiki had a deletion log?) but I am sure about the filename as I had included it in this edit and it stayed there for more than two and half years (removed in this edit). — geraki (talk) 16:15, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    • @Geraki: There's no actual deleted file at that title, only a description page which says "Eleftherios Venizelos speech to the Greek people in 1917." The present system of logging deletions (and I think deleted content) was only introduced in late 2004, which is why there's nothing in the deletion log and I think why there's no file there. Possibly someone at WP:VPT might have an idea of how to get it back. Hut 8.5 16:28, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not entirely sure, but my vague recollection is that at one point a deleted file was immediately deleted from the disk (files are stored directly on disk; their description pages are stored in the database just like any other wiki page). The release notes for Mediawiki 1.7.0 say "Deleted files can now be archived and undeleted, if you set up an appropriate non-web-accessible directory. Set $wgSaveDeletedFiles on and an appropriate directory path in $wgFileStore['deleted']['directory']". 1.7.0 was released in July 6, 2006. I second the suggestion of asking at WP:VPT but I suspect you might be out of luck - hopefully I'm wrong though. --kingboyk (talk) 16:41, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Hut 8.5 and Kingboyk:, if there is deleted description page when it was deleted? - geraki (talk) 16:48, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Good question! (because the answer is potentially quite revealing) -
Deletion log: No matching items in log.
Page history: 15:36, 30 September 2003 . . Geraki (talk | contribs | block) 57 bytes (Eleftherios Venizelos speech to the Greek people in 1917.)
    --kingboyk (talk) 16:58, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict)Don't know, the description page doesn't give any clue as to when it was deleted and there's nothing in the logs (it may well have been deleted before Mediawiki properly logged file deletions). There is only one deleted revision of the description page, by you on 30 September 2003. Hut 8.5 17:00, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Enter your reasoning here and then click the "Publish changes" button below —Colinedwardrice (talk) 21:42, 24 August 2019 (UTC) This wiki page provided a placeholder for world travelers or budding world travelers to find links to inspirational stories and articles on the most traveled humans in history and to benchmark their own progress against famous people such as Hilary Clinton or the Queen of England. The only alternatives are clubs such as Traveler's Century Club which impose their own rule books to the detriment of debate and alternative benchmarks. Citing wikipage deletion based on a lack of a precise definition of travel criteria or a finite list of travelers is illogical- by that definition, Africa would be deleted in the 19th century because the interior had not been mapped or explored. Providing a focal point for travelers allowed the topic to be clarified and evolved by like-minded people.[reply]

Not done – this Requests for Undeletion process is only for articles that were deleted uncontroversially, and does not apply to articles deleted after a deletion discussion. Since the article you are here about was deleted after a discussion took place at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of people by number of countries visited, it cannot be undeleted through this process. However, if you believe that the outcome of the discussion did not reflect the consensus of the participants, or that significant new information has come to light since the article was deleted, you may contact the administrator who closed the discussion, RL0919 (talk · contribs). Not done The draft (which I have moved back to Draft:CometVisu by the way) has been "in progress" since 2015, and has been declined 3 times and refunded twice. Furthermore, according to your user page you have a conflict of interest which you have apparently not declared to the AFC reviewers. Indeed, whilst I always try to assume good faith, I'd have to question whether you are here to build an encyclopedia at all if not for some minor edits in 2015.
At Wikipedia:Requests_for_undeletion/Archive_342#User:Mekzholan/CometVisu you wrote: "as I'm not a professional full time Wikipedia author I can only work on it from time to time".
I'm sorry to have to point this out, but the fact that it is down to you to write about the software and that 4 years after starting the draft it has got nowhere, because nobody else without a conflict of interest has stepped up to write about it, ought to tell you something. I strongly suggest you let this go; if your software is notable then it will receive extensive coverage in reliable sources and other (not professional, not full time, but volunteer!) editors will at some point surely write about it. --kingboyk (talk) 21:12, 26 August 2019 (UTC) (e/c)[reply]
