Errol Sawyer
I love Jose Feliciano. Also his 'Nature boy.' Can you, please, help me editing the article of Errol Sawyer and saving it from deletion? This is what I just wrote: Mbinebri, you again for the fourth time???? Your endeavors to delete this article of a good photographer starts to look the more and more like like a personal crusade? Why do you disresepect this good African-American artist? You give Wikipedia a bad name! Read: [1]
7. Individuals with agendas sometimes have significant editing authority. Administrators on Wikipedia have the power to delete or disallow comments or articles they disagree with and support the viewpoints they approve. For example, beginning in 2003, U.K. scientist William Connolley became a Web site administrator and subsequently wrote or rewrote more than 5,000 Wikipedia articles supporting the concept of climate change and global warming. More importantly, he used his authority to ban more than 2,000 contributors with opposing viewpoints from making further contributions.
5. There is little diversity among editors. According to a 2009 survey by the Wikimedia Foundation, 87 percent of Wikipedia editors are male, with an average age of 26.8 years. According to executive director Sue Gardner, they hail mostly from Europe and North America, and many of them are in graduate school.
4. The number of active Wikipedia editors has flatlined. The number of active Wikipedia editors (those who make at least five edits a month) has stopped growing. It remains to be seen whether the current number of active editors can maintain and continue updating Wikipedia.
3. It has become harder for casual participants to contribute. According to the Palo Alto Research Center, the contributions of casual and new contributors are being reversed at a much greater rate than several years ago. The result is that a steady group of high-level editors has more control over Wikipedia than ever.
A group of editors known as “deletionists” are said to “edit first and ask questions later,” making it harder for new contributors to participate, and making it harder for Wikipedia—which, again, aspires to provide “the sum of all human knowledge”—to overcome the issue that it is controlled by a stagnant pool of editors from a limited demographic.
To fill you in: Sawyer is an accomplished artist: Read not only his his last interview on the WSW by Richard Philips, but also read what the ex museum director Julian Spalding writes about him on his own website and read what A. D. Coleman (first photo critic of the New York Times) writes about his work in his book "City" Mosaic and on his own website. Also Sawyer's work is present in several important museum collections around the world which gives already the status of importance that he needs to have an article in Wikipedia. I suggest that you help to improve this article instead of suggest deletion. It is very important that Errol Sawyer, considered as having equal value as the African-American photographer Roy Decarava, has an article in WIki UK as he is a role model for the African-American community. Gospel of Matthew - 50 CE Date

- Actually, the 50 CE date is NOT my viewpoint See User talk:PiCo for my POV. This is about NPOV plain and simple. I believe there are several articles that violate Wikipedia's policy. Also, Andrevan, I think it worth noting that there has been a page created in userspace, fairly soon to be moved into wikipedia space, at User:John Carter/Self-appointed prophet. That page was, in fact, first started because of the conduct of two editors, one of whom is involved in this current discussion. Any edits to it are still, of course, at my discretion, as it is still in userspace, but I acknowledge that it could stand for some improvement if you wish to offer any. Small Editorial Dispute on WP Article Az-Zakariyya
User:Andrevan, I am a Jew who lives in Israel. I have just recently started editing on Wikipedia, and have added an assortment of photographs as well as historical data to various WP articles. Recently, as of yesterday, I edited an article that treats on an Israeli Moshav, Az-Zakariyya, formerly an Arab village, and added the Hebrew name of the Moshav in the leading paragraph, beside its Arabic name, since the Moshav, or village, is currently inhabited by Israeli Jews who speak Hebrew, and who call the village by its traditional Hebrew name and spelling: זכריה. For reasons unknown to me, an editor came along and deleted its Hebrew name, and kept only its Arabic name. It is my view that we should be neutral here and mention, both, its Hebrew and Arabic spellings. I have asked the editor to revert her deletion, and to restore the Hebrew spelling (Template:Lang-he-n), which, so far, she has refused to do. I may wish to take this matter to WP:Dispute resolution noticeboard, but my understanding is that there is a backlog for dispute resolutions relating to WP:NPOV = Neutrality. - User:Andrevan, I'm sorry to bother you, but I see that our co-editor, Huldra, is insistent on keeping the WP article Az-Zakariyya devoid of modern Jewish content. She deleted all of my latest additions and photographs. She prefers keeping the article limited to pre-1948 history of the village, with no references to its modern history. Rather than fight her through the available channels of mediation, I think I'll just copy all the major sections of her article treating on its past history and paste them in a second article that appears on the village Zekharia, although that would make two articles on the same village. I had entertained the thought that perhaps the second but smaller article on the same village (Moshav) should be put up for deletion, but now that she is insistent on having it her own way, this leaves me with no choice but to develop the second article and to retain it. Ongoing issues regarding the Allegations of United States support for the Khmer Rouge article
Forgive me if I'm going about this the wrong way, as I've only begun taking an active role in the Wikipedia project recently, but the Allegations of United States support for the Khmer Rouge page seems to have reached a point that only action from a higher source of authority is likely to resolve. It's a rather tenuous situation in regards to neutrality, but it's clear that both an edit war is taking place, and that some information backed by valid sources is getting caught in the crossfire. I noticed that you have had past dealings with users User:TheTimesAreAChanging and User:Stumink, so I figured I'd contact you directly instead of putting out a general call for admin assistance or the like. Workshopping bureaucrat activity requirements
- (Message to all bureaucrats)
There is an ongoing discussion about implementing some kind of standards for administrative and bureaucrat activity levels; and activity requirements for bureaucrats have been explored several times in the past. I've prepared a draft addition to Wikipedia:Bureaucrats that would require at least one bureaucratic action every five years to retain the bureaucrat permission.
In the past, I've been hesitant of such proposals but I believe that if the bureaucrat group as a whole is seen to be actively engaged, the community may be more willing to grant additional tasks to the position.
Please let me know your thoughts. I'm not sure if this actually applies to any of us, but if you have not acted as a bureaucrat in over five years, you might consider requesting removal of the permission or otherwise signalling that you intend to return to bureaucrat activity. –xenotalk 14:22, 30 June 2015 (UTC)

Implementation of Wikipedia:Bureaucrats#Bureaucrat activity requirements
Following a community discussion ending August 2015, consensus was reached to remove the bureaucrat permissions of users who have not participated in bureaucrat activity for three years.
“ | Bureaucrats are expected to exercise the duties granted by their role while remaining cognizant of relevant community standards concerning their tasks. In addition to the "Inactive bureaucrat accounts" requirements, if a bureaucrat does not participate in bureaucrat activity[1] for over three years, their bureaucrat permissions may be removed. The user must be notified on their talk page and by email one month before the removal, and again and a few days prior to the removal. If the user does not return to bureaucrat activity, another bureaucrat may request the removal of permissions at meta:Steward requests/Permissions. Permissions removed for not meeting bureaucrat activity requirements may be re-obtained through a new request for bureaucratship.

To assist with the implementation of this requirement, please see Wikipedia:Bureaucrat activity. Modeled after Wikipedia:Inactive administrators and similar to that process, the log page will be created on 1 September 2015. Bureaucrats who have not met the activity requirements as of that date will be notified by email (where possible) and on their talk page to advise of the pending removal.
If the notified user does not return to bureaucrat activity and the permissions are removed, they will need to request reinstatement at WP:RFB. Removal of access is procedural only, and not intended to reflect negatively upon the affected user in any way.

You are invited to join us for a full Saturday (drop-in any time!) of social Wikipedia editing at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) for our upcoming "WikiArte" Latin America Edit-a-thon, for Wiki Arte y Cultura Latinoamericana, a communal day of creating, updating, improving, and translating Wikipedia articles about Latin American art and culture.
All are invited, with no specialized knowledge of the subject or Wikipedia editing experience required. We will provide training sessions and resources for beginner Wikipedians, WiFi, reference materials, and suggested topics, as well as childcare and refreshments. Please bring your laptop, power cord, and ideas for articles that need to be updated, translated, or created. Hello,
I found your user page when I was looking through how to solve a dispute. User:LouisAragon keeps reverting my edits (example: [3]) on the India–Iran relations page. The user claims history of pre-nation state should not be in this article. However, as you can see, almost all similar wiki pages have pre-history: India-China relations, India-Afghanistan relations, etc. I believe this user is making his/her own rules and standards. - This article should be for modern-day relations. There was no "India" back then; it was created in 1947, and the same argument goes for Iran, which didn't even exist in the times that the material talks about. Many of the territories and regions that are talked about in the article are not even part of India (they are part of modern-day Pakistan, for example). Furthermore, that content is a hodge-podge of amalgamated material (much of which isn't even related to Iran for example), and therefore violates WP:OR as well. Lastly, that material has a history of being reinstated by Arbcom/CU blocked user Bladesmulti. Per these reasons, it shouldn't be added. - LouisAragon (talk) 18:43, 18 March 2016 (UTC)

- Also, Andrevan, this is an IP hopper that's been actively hopping around on numerous articles (I can PM you the further range/edits/IP's, but CheckUsers are already aware of it). Many of those articles were/are semi-protected as a result. Extended confirmed protection
Hello, Andrevan. This message is intended to notify administrators of important changes to the protection policy.
Extended confirmed protection (also known as "30/500 protection") is a new level of page protection that only allows edits from accounts at least 30 days old and with 500 edits. The automatically assigned "extended confirmed" user right was created for this purpose. The protection level was created following this community discussion with the primary intention of enforcing various arbitration remedies that prohibited editors under the "30 days/500 edits" threshold to edit certain topic areas.
In July and August 2016, a request for comment established consensus for community use of the new protection level. Administrators are authorized to apply extended confirmed protection to combat any form of disruption (e.g. vandalism, sock puppetry, edit warring, etc.) on any topic, subject to the following conditions:
- Extended confirmed protection may only be used in cases where semi-protection has proven ineffective. It should not be used as a first resort.
- A bot will post a notification at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard of each use. MusikBot currently does this by updating a report, which is transcluded onto the noticeboard.
Please review the protection policy carefully before using this new level of protection on pages. Thank you.

A new user right for New Page Patrollers
Hi Andrevan.
A new user group, New Page Reviewer, has been created in a move to greatly improve the standard of new page patrolling. The user right can be granted by any admin at PERM. It is highly recommended that admins look beyond the simple numerical threshold and satisfy themselves that the candidates have the required skills of communication and an advanced knowledge of notability and deletion. Admins are automatically included in this user right.
It is anticipated that this user right will significantly reduce the work load of admins who patrol the performance of the patrollers. However,due to the complexity of the rollout, some rights may have been accorded that may later need to be withdrawn, so some help will still be needed to some extent when discovering wrongly applied deletion tags or inappropriate pages that escape the attention of less experienced reviewers, and above all, hasty and bitey tagging for maintenance. User warnings are available here but very often a friendly custom message works best.

The event will cap off Wikipedia Asian Month, an online campaign dedicated to augmenting Asian content on Wikipedia throughout November. New and experienced editors are welcome. The event will include a training session for participants who are new to Wikipedia, and Wikipedia specialists will be on hand to provide basic instruction and editing support. Editors are invited to view the exhibition Tales of Our Time following the event. The Guggenheim aims to raise awareness of the artists featured in the Tales of Our Time exhibition supported by The Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation Chinese Art Initiative, and build on the model of campaigns like the Wikipedia Edit-a-thon at the Guggenheim: Women in Architecture, Wikipedia Edit-a-thon at the Guggenheim: Contemporary Art of the Middle East and North Africa, and Art+Feminism.

- A discussion to workshop proposals to amend the administrator inactivity policy at Wikipedia talk:Administrators has been in process since late December 2016.
- Wikipedia:Pending changes/Request for Comment 2016 closed with no consensus for implementing Pending changes level 2 with new criteria for use.
- Following an RfC, an activity requirement is now in place for bots and bot operators.
- When performing some administrative actions the reason field briefly gave suggestions as text was typed. This change has since been reverted so that issues with the implementation can be addressed. (T34950)
- Following the latest RfC concluding that Pending Changes 2 should not be used on the English Wikipedia, an RfC closed with consensus to remove the options for using it from the page protection interface, a change which has now been made. (T156448)
- The Foundation has announced a new community health initiative to combat harassment. This should bring numerous improvements to tools for admins and CheckUsers in 2017.
- The Arbitration Committee released a response to the Wikimedia Foundation's statement on paid editing and outing.
- JohnCD (John Cameron Deas) passed away on 30 December 2016. John began editing Wikipedia seriously during 2007 and became an administrator in November 2009.

On the last Sunday of every month, the Boardroom at Ace Hotel New York hosts Action Equals History — a unique opportunity for New Yorkers to learn hands-on in a technology training/workshop session about the mechanics, practices and benefits of Wikipedia and the Wikimedia projects. This is an opportunity for all to gather, share and work collectively towards a more robust account of history. For this month, and following on the recent Art+Feminism campaign, we'll focus on building better edit-a-thon tools for a variety of different thematic campaigns, and user-testing them with the community. Towards a goal of advancing these tools for wider use with diverse local groups.

block settings for User:Sk-gorka
I suppose upping it to a hardblock at this late date could be within the realm of administrative discretion, but I have to question why you thought it was justified to revoke their talk page and email access as I see no evidence whatsoever that they have abused either function. You also failed to change the reason in the block log, it still says soft block for username, as did the block template I placed, which I have now removed in anticipation of you adding a more appropriate one that reflects the reasons for the rather harsh new settings.
So per WP:ADMINACCT, I'd like to ask that you either:
- Fix all those issues and explain the justification for revoking talk page and email
- Restore the original block settings and template

- Since it seems like you tend to make short spurt of edits and then disappear for days or even months I asked at the ANI thread for an uninvolved admin to review this and they have restored the original settings. Not to put too fine a point on it, but if you are going to come off of a three year break from using the block tool, you should be sure you are positive you know what you are doing and that it is the right move, and even then you should be available to explain yourself if the block is questioned. This is an opportunity for all to gather, share and work collectively towards a more robust account of history. For this month, we'll focus on Wikipedia casual editing, ways to use and develop Wikidata, building better edit-a-thon tools for a variety of different thematic campaigns, and user-testing them with the community. Shakespeare Authorship Question
I like wikipedia but am troubled that the assigned editor (Tom Reedy) has published a book which takes one side in a controversial issue. there are scholars on both sides. in my opinion the current article is biased, it takes commmon arguments against shakesperian authorship and twists them into arguments supporting his authorship. there was a mediation decision regarding this page in 2011 but I think more attention is needed
I tried to add a chart which summarized conventional wisdom in a nentral fashion. it was reverted by wikipedia's judge/juror.

Beginning in September 2017, the Wikimedia Foundation Anti-harassment tool team will be conducting a survey to gauge how well tools, training, and information exists to assist English Wikipedia administrators in recognizing and mitigating things like sockpuppetry, vandalism, and harassment.
The survey should only take 5 minutes, and your individual response will not be made public. This survey will be integral for our team to determine how to better support administrators.

The Wikipedia Asian Month Edit-a-thon @ The Met will be the Metropolitan Museum of Art's second edit-a-thon, hosted on Sunday November 19, 2017 in the Bonnie Sacerdote Classroom, Ruth and Harold D. Uris Center for Education (81st Street entrance) at The Met Fifth Avenue in New York City. Following the first Met edit-a-thon in May 2017, the museum is excited to work with Wikipedia Asian Month for the potential to seed new articles about Asian artworks, artwork types, and art traditions, from any part of Asia. These can be illustrated with thousands of its recently-released images of public domain artworks available for Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons from the museum’s collection spanning 5,000 years of art. The event is an opportunity for Wikimedia communities to engage The Met's diverse Asian collections onsite and remotely.
Attendees should bring their own laptops and power cords. Light snacks, drinks and cake will be provided. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

- MONGO is correct that the article restrictions prevent you from inserting a slightly modified version of something that had recently been added and reverted without getting some sort of consensus on the talk page. I realize this slows down the normal editing process where you can quickly solve disputes with some creative editing, but it also helps prevent disruptive tag-team edit wars. ~Awilley (talk) 15:35, 23 May 2018 (UTC)

- Hi Andrevan. I believe that the serious allegations you're making are in good faith, but I don't think there's any way it can be addressed in a community noticeboard. It's too controversial, whether or not you're right. I don't think anything less than Arbcom can even begin to address this, and if there's any semblance of truth to your theory, Arbcom will probably have to kick it to the Foundation. Accusing longtime editors of being paid Russian trolls without evidence is not only a violation of our policies, it is damaging to a collaborative working environment and makes things worse all around. - This morning I was literally typing up a sternly worded message under the heading "Final Warning" which I abandoned when I saw NeilN issue a separate final warning and topic ban. So instead I'm going to give you some advice: Take the topic ban seriously and don't push the boundaries by trying to continue disputes with users you've been in conflict with. Just un-watchlist all pages and user talk pages related to American Politics.
- Also I noticed that you haven't responded to any of the previous advice, concerns, and warnings that users (including myself) have left on your talk page. Perhaps you're one of those users who thinks it's cute for whatever reason to never edit their own talk page? Whatever your reasons, you should realize that it's uncollaborative, a bit rude, and frankly incompatible with anybody interested in doing any kind of administrative work.
- Lastly, I don't want you to think that you've been topic banned for attempted outing. That was just the last straw. Your biggest problem from what I can see is something that you apparently haven't realized is a problem yet, despite almost everybody else trying to point it out to you. Uhhh...
I just noticed you have indefinitely blocked 101.103.154.182 as a vandalism-only account, but according to this wikipedia page, they cannot be considered vandal-only accounts because they may be shared by many users and according to this, IP addresses shouldn't be blocked indefinitely... -24.180.251.38 (talk) 18:20, 30 May 2018 (UTC)
