Changes to SuggestBot's suggestions

We have also modified the layout of the suggestions and added sortable columns with various types of information about each article. The first two columns are:
- Views/Day
- Daily average number of views an article's had over the past 14 days.
- Quality
- Predicted article quality on a 1- to 3-star scale. Placing your cursor over the stars should give you a pop-up describing the article's quality (Low/Medium/High), current assessment class, and predicted assessment class.
The method we use to predict article quality also allows us to assess whether an article might need specific types of work in order to improve its quality. The work needed might not correspond to cleanup tags added to the article, since our method is not based on those. We have added five columns reflecting this work assessment, where a red X indicates improvement is needed. Placing your cursor over an X should give you a pop-up with a short description of the work needed. The five columns seek to answer the following five questions:
- Content
- Is more content needed?
- Headings
- Does this article have an appropriate section structure?

Regarding you revert, I do not see the harm in adding Distrito de Damão as an "other name" as Portuguese was historically spoken here. Please specify why you are against this. Regards, Peroxwhy2gen Talk 12:58, 18 July 2013 (UTC)
- Peroxwhy2gen, Portuguese is neither an official language nor a dominant language of Daman even if, historically, the district was a Portuguese colony. If we're going to include native names, Marathi would have to come above Portuguese. Using a historical Portuguese name as the native name is a bit far fetched. --regentspark (comment) 15:34, 18 July 2013 (UTC)

- I wasn't me mate. User:Abhishek191288 blindly reverted a bunch of edits claiming to remove 'promotional stuff'. I have left a message on his talkpage regarding the matter. since you have asked me to write on your talk page, i would like to know the reference of these lines "His strong dislike for Gujarati speaking Indians residing in Mumbai is well known and has tweeted multiple times on this. This dislike and stand against a particular linguistic community is against the secular stand of INC, the Indian political party to which, he and his father, Narayan Rane belong" i think you should remove that material or i will edit that irrelevant info.
doesn't it sounds like creating some negative image? strong dislike for gujarati people is well known?? his remarks were political and he aimed at gujarati supporters of narendra modi,he has also explained that those remarks weren't for all gujarati people, so how could you directly wrote that? that's objectionable and what's the point of adding this?? - "This dislike and stand against a particular linguistic community is against the secular stand of INC" are you an INC worker?? how do know INC has a secular stand?? nitesh rane didn't take stand against whole gujarati community,he was targeting narendra modi and his gujarati supporters.check the reference link no 22 of that article.

- Please drop your combative attitude and assume good faith. A casual glance at the revision history of the wiki in concern will show the edits were made by It.for.ax. Stop blaming me for other people's edit.
- You were reverted for removing links from Economic Times and DNA newspapers, that's censoring which is not allowed on wikipedia. If you have concern about the particular paragraph go ahead and change it but leave his well sourced tweets alone as they are necessary in the context in which they were published and lead to the aforementioned controversy. From his tweets it's clear that Nitish Rane considers Gujaratis as 'puppies' and wants Gujjus to go back to Gujarat as if Mumbai is his personal property. After the state government took notice of his xenophobic comments and initiated a legal review he is backtracking. regarding to the reference links, the paragraph which a user named it.for.ax has added "On 13 July 2013, Rane tweeted "12% gujjus in Mumbai r like a 'puppy' infront of the Marathis.. so what shud be done Mr Modi?? And expert advice.. " in response to Narendra Modi's interview published on 12 July 2013 where Modi had mentioned ""Even If I am in the back seat of a car and a puppy comes under the wheels, isn't it painful? It is. Whether I am a chief minister or not, I am a human being. I will be sad if something bad happens anywhere" the reference link about narendra modi's interview has nothing to do with nitesh rane's statement on 13th july,just because he has used the word "puppy" in his tweet doesn't mean it was an response to narendra moodi's statement and that economic times link doesn't have nitesh rane's reference in it stating that it was an "response" to modi's comments and there's already a "media" section,there's no need to have a special section so,the special section needs to blend in the "media" in summarized paraphrases,directly use of those quotes are removing the attention from other material. i am a new user but i am telling you all this because you cleaned the edits of the user it.for.ax. so as a keen wiki editor you could have blended "controversies" section into "media" section,i am not blaming you for anything.Aniketp007 (talk) 12:41, 7 August 2013 (UTC)

Article Feedback Tool update
Hey Neelkamala. I'm contacting you because you're involved in the Article Feedback Tool in some way, either as a previous newsletter recipient or as an active user of the system. As you might have heard, a user recently anonymously disabled the feedback tool on 2,000 pages. We were unable to track or prevent this due to the lack of logging feature in AFT5. We're deeply sorry for this, as we know that quite a few users found the software very useful, and were using it on their articles.
We've now re-released the software, with the addition of a logging feature and restrictions on the ability to disable. Obviously, we're not going to automatically re-enable it on each article—we don't want to create a situation where it was enabled by users who have now moved on, and feedback would sit there unattended—but if you're interested in enabling it for your articles, it's pretty simple to do. Just go to the article you want to enable it on, click the "request feedback" link in the toolbox in the sidebar, and AFT5 will be enabled for that article.

Baga, Goa

- Konkani is the official language of the entire Goa state and that fact is reflected in the infobox as is the norm. You should stop your disruptive editing by removing it. --Neelkamala (talk) 05:48, 14 September 2013 (UTC)
- That's like adding 'Hindi' to the Tamil Nadu infobox because it is the official language of India. The fact that Konkani is the official language of Goa is reflected in Goa's infobox. It simply does not make sense to add language information to the infobox of minor administrative units such as cities and villages unless it is legislated by the local government of that particular area. - FYI, Tamil is the official languages in Tamil Nadu, As an example see the infobox of Tirunelveli, a city in Tamil Nadu, which reflects this fact. - I would like you to take a look at the examples given at Template:Infobox settlement#Parameter names and descriptions. None of them have language information in their infoboxes for the same reason it should not be included in Baga's infobox; because there is no local (city, town or village level) legislation which makes Konkani official in Baga. To reiterate my point, that would be like adding 'Hindi' or 'English' to Goa's infobox because they are official languages of India. Most city, town and village articles would not contain language information unless specifically legislated by the local government. I really would like a third opinion on this matter. I'd say that including languages in infoboxes of settlements is unnecessary unless there is a good reason to do so. Reducing clutter is probably the best reason. But, no idea what the consensus on this is. We have changed the number of suggested articles and which categories they are selected from. The number of stubs has been greatly reduced, the number of articles needing sources doubled, and two new categories added (orphans and unencyclopaedic articles). We have also modified the layout of the suggestions and added sortable columns with various types of information about each article. The first two columns are:
- Views/Day
- Daily average number of views an article's had over the past 14 days.
- Quality
- Predicted article quality on a 1- to 3-star scale. Placing your cursor over the stars should give you a pop-up describing the article's quality (Low/Medium/High), current assessment class, and predicted assessment class.
The method we use to predict article quality also allows us to assess whether an article might need specific types of work in order to improve its quality. The work needed might not correspond to cleanup tags added to the article, since our method is not based on those. We have added five columns reflecting this work assessment, where a red X indicates improvement is needed. Placing your cursor over an X should give you a pop-up with a short description of the work needed. The five columns seek to answer the following five questions:
- Content
- Is more content needed?
- Headings
- Does this article have an appropriate section structure?
- Images
- Is the number of illustrative images about right?
- Links
- Does this article link to enough other Wikipedia articles?
