AFC News

WikiProject Articles for creation Backlog Elimination Drive News!

We are nine days away from the end of the drive, and it's been fantastic! Many, many, many days of backlog have been tackled, and over 1500 articles reviewed!

To start off, a HUGE THANKS to everyone who helped out with the coordination of the drive, and actually fighting the backlog in the drive itself. Everyone's done a great job helping out, no matter how many articles you've reviewed/

Remember to update your running total, on the drive page. This is the ONLY way that I will be able to give out awards appropriately.

Lastly, I will be giving out awards on August 16th. Anyone who could help me, that would be fantastic. Contact me on my talk page if you'd like to volunteer.

Great job, everyone! This Drive has been fantastic, and I'm sure that some members of the Project have definitely made friends by collaborating on the talk pages. Thanks,
GrooveDog.

Hello, I am willing to help out with the awards. Good job with the backlog drive so far! :) --Hdt83 Chat 23:59, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Beagle. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions in a content dispute within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content which gains a consensus among editors. GrooveDog (talk) (Review) 16:42, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

If you had bothered looking at the article in question, you would see that in fact MY edits were reverted three times, not vice versa. ie I was the victim of a wRR reverter, not the perpetrator. You would also see my note on the talk page that it was not a sufficiently important issue for me to push any longer and that I would not make any further edits to the article (and have not done so). You might also see that I had explained my edit in each edit summary, plus left a rationale on the article talk page. The reverting editor in contrast have no edit summary on 2 of 3 of his edits and did not respond to my talk page comments until after breaking the 3RR rule. I ceased editing the article and stated on the talk page my intention to longer edit the article prior to your vexatious, tardy and unwarranted threat, which I have now deleted from my talk page. I consider your message undeserved harassment and do not wish to receive any further messages from yourself. Any further messages left by yourself on my talk page will be considered harassment and will be reported to a moderator. If you continue you may be blocked from editing. Get your facts right before threatening people. - PocklingtonDan (talk) 06:08, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

Well, considering the page wasn't deleted, a deletion review isn't really going to help anyone. The TFD was withdrawn because it had become moot. Might I point out that the actual list of issues people want wider attention on is this long? >Radiant< 08:13, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Hi- totally unfamiliar with the communication systems here, so apologies if this isn't the correct channel- ref 'HERBERTTURBOT' its 2 rhyming words, a name and a fish, as repeated endlessly by my 2 yr old Son- what were you thinking?? Please elucidate. A little concerned (maybe this WWW is just a little too weird and suspicious for us normal folk??)- Please advise how to remove all my contact and registration details from this site, its too strange and too upsetting; I will go back to letter writing with people I know. TOO BAD.

Many thanks for opening my eyes to this and kind kind regards- DB (HERBERT TURBOT)

Re: Backlog Drive

Thanks for the awards, and thanks many times more for organizing this whole thing. Without your idea, we'd still be swimming through over a year of backlog, I'm sure. Now we're down to only a couple months, which can be easily mass-moderated after a quick look-over. I know you've already gotten one award for starting it, but with all the work that got done, it really doesn't seem sufficient. So here you go...

The Articles for Creation Barnstar
Your backlog drive was a resounding success, and something the WikiProject sorely needed. Your quick thinking and motivational skills went above and beyond what anyone could have expected, and were critical to the amount of articles the drive reviewed, as well as the year's worth of backlogged archives that are now cleared. You share the credit for every one of the 4756.49 articles that got reviewed. Congratulations for a job extraordinarily well done. Hersfold (t/a/c) 15:22, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

Just like to second this all. Many thanks for the barnstar, but also organising the thing. I will keep going and try and get rid of more of the backlog. Theone00 18:42, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
Hear, hear. Great job! henriktalk 19:22, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

My comments at mediation cabal

Please accept my appology for having to oppose your nomination for mediating on the Relevance issue. I think that this is too difficult of a tangle for a first time mediation. On a side note, I read your editor review in progress; it seems very premature for someone with four months at the project to be seeking admin. powers. Clearly this is my personal opinion, but hang around and learn the ropes for a while -- don't try to rush things in life too much. Cheers! --Kevin Murray 17:09, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

I have now --of course-- deleted the article you speedy tagged, & removed some additional vandalism by the same ed., whom I am watching. Thanks for the catch. DGG (talk) 19:12, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

thanks for the awards you gave me - the bronze wiki. However on User talk:Graeme Bartlett you seem to have put the goldenwiki instead of the Bronzewiki symbol. Do you want to fix this yourself since you were the master of ceromonies for this event! Graeme Bartlett 01:01, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

Hi GrooveDog. I am flattered to be asked and will do anything I can to help you. --John 17:53, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

Hi! I had written a note about the above article on the talk page of WikiProject Manitoba. The problem with talk pages like that is that no one is watching them. The note is self explanatory. If anyone in the project is interested in the geography aspect, that article could use work. I did a bit but it needs a real effort. Cheers! --Stormbay 22:21, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

I congratulate your courage in closing the discussion at Talk:Wilhelmstraße. However, did you review the arguments as well as counting heads? Please explain to me what valid arguments you see to keep it where it is; because I genuinely see nothing but "It's correct German" and WP:ILIKEIT. (Haukur's statistical efforts merely reduce the predominance from 90% to perhaps 75%). Use of a local official name is deprecated by WP:NCGN, except where the predominant name in English is unclear. Bot delivery

That would be great actually. I just figured out the AWB the other day. I usually try to get the newsletter done by the first of the month. I have never used a bot before so you'd have to fill me in a bit more or we can work as a team somehow. Let me know what your thoughts are and how to go about doing this, thanks.--Christopher Allen Tanner, CCC 20:30, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

Just the link because when I first sent the newsletter out in June there was some dissatisfaction with having the full newsletter on users discussion pages. It is quite a large sized newsletter and takes up a big chunk of a page if placed there. So I will make a reminder for myself to let you know once a month when I send it out, thanks again, one less thing for me to do. At least with the AWB I wasn't having to goto each persons page this last time, that used to take me forever.--Christopher Allen Tanner, CCC 20:36, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

RE:Denied request for bot

Hi,

I am new to this, but would like to know more info on bots. The reason for requesting for one was for vandals and trolls removing our WikiProject Dravidian civilizations template from over 120 of our related sites pertaining to the subject matter. Furthermore, if there is someone who could coach me on bots or if there is a page where I could read more about how they are used it would very much be appreciated. Regards. account hacking?

I posted a message on a help page re this problem, and was advised that a checkuser might be applicable... I'm not sure how to go about this, however.

Essentially, my problem is as follows. I logged into my wiki account this morning to discover that a dozen or more spurious, non-existent, and in some cases offensive pages had been added to my list. I duly deleted these and changed my password immediately. However, as a few other people do have access to my computer, I'd simply like to establish whether this was an 'inside job', as it were, or the work of some third-party, external hacker. Is there any way of establishing the ip address used when the unwanted alterations were made to my watchlist, and also, the time/date at which these changes were made? Any advice greatly appreciated.Snowbunni 20:00, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

WP:AFC Backlog Drive

WikiProject Articles for creation needs your help!
WikiProject Articles for creation has done a tremendous job in working at WP:AFC over the past 7½ months. Thank you all for your hard work and dedication! Together, we've made the submission process easier and more streamlined, developed tools to make the process go faster for reviewers, and cut the backlog down to a mere fraction of what it once was. Well done!

As you all are aware, however, our work is not quite yet done. The project still has 10 archive pages left to complete, which include over half a month's worth of submissions, many of which have not been completely reviewed. We need your help to finish looking over these neglected submissions so that we can finally remove the backlog notice from the page, and put an end to the more than two year old backlog that has been a thorn in our side for ages! Participants will receive an AFC Barnstar, so hurry up and help out while there's still work to be done! Make sure to sign in on the WikiProject's talk page so we know who is involved in what promises to be our final effort to complete this goal. Thank you for all your help!
- Happy editing as always, Hersfold (t/a/c) 16:33, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:PepsiLogo.png)

Thanks for uploading Image:PepsiLogo.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:10, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

Motto of the day

Hello, I notice you're using one of the {{motd}} templates, run by Wikipedia:Motto of the day. You may have noticed that some of the mottos recently have been followed by a date from 2006, or on occasion simply "Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia". The reason for this is that Motto of the day is in some very serious need of help. Participation in the project, which has never been especially high, has dropped considerably over this past summer, to the point we have had several days where no motto was scheduled to appear at all. Over the past several weeks, I've been the only editor scheduling mottos at all, but there aren't enough comments on some of these mottos to justify their use. If we do not get some help - and soon - your daily mottos will stop. In order for us to continue updating these templates for you, we need your help.

When you get a chance between your normal editing, could you stop by our nominations page and leave a few comments on some of the mottos there, especially those that do not have any comments yet? This works very simply; you read a motto, decide whether or not you like it, and post your opinion just below the motto. That's it - no experience required, just an idea of what you personally like and what you feel reflects Wikipedia and its community. If you do have past experience with the project, then please close some of the older nominations once they've got a decent consensus going. There are directions on the nominations page on how to do this.

If you have any questions, please let me know, or post on the project's talk page. I'm looking forward to reading your comments on the suggested mottos, and any additional suggestions you'd like to make. Until then, happy editing! Hersfold (t/a/c) 02:02, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

Thanks

For helping me out with Yamu Music and Films. I'd noticed through a little investigation that the article had already been speedied (twice, as it turns out), and consequently was keeping an eye out on it, but I'm always a little chary of 3RR. Nice to have a helping hand on it. :-) --User:AlbertHerring Io son l'orecchio e tu la bocca: parla! 02:32, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

Yep, anytime of course. :-D The article's in the creating user's userspace so he'll have some room to develop it there before moving it back to article space; I've left him a note to this regard. =D GrooveDog (talk) (Review) 02:34, 18 July 2009 (UTC)
You are more charitable than I, then. Mind you, that's not entirely a bad thing... --User:AlbertHerring Io son l'orecchio e tu la bocca: parla! 02:40, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

Ron Offen

Dear GrooveDog,

I write about the article, "Ron Offen," which I submitted yesterday and which you decided not to accept. One reason that the article may not have been up to Wikipedia's standards is that I omitted a great deal of material that goes back to the 1960s and 1970s. Some of this material has no electronic "paper trail," so to speak, because it predates computers. For example, Ron Offen made a significant contribution to the Chicago literary community in co-editing a journal, "Mainstream," copies of which retail on the rare book market for upwards of $500. Yet because Ron Offen's name has not been mentioned on Internet book-sales sites, I omitted mentioning this when I wrote the article. There are quite a few other things like this which I left out of my Wikipedia article.

Would you perhaps be willing to peruse this material and reconsider your decision about Ron Offen?

Thank you very much for your consideration.

Hi GrooveDog. You may have noticed that your RfA is unfortunately but justifiably gathering a lot of opposers and rather few supporters. The opposes seem to focus on your lack of time spent here in the past year or so, can I recommend that you withdraw from this RfA and reapply with a bit more experience under your belt? It feels unnecessary to continue through this when in all likelihood it will not pass. Best of luck, if you need anything just shout. Regards, --—Cyclonenim | Chat  19:38, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

Sorry, only just read your statement in the discussion section of your RfA. My apologies! Regards, --—Cyclonenim | Chat  19:41, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

Hi GrooveDog, I have read your statement requesting that the RfA be left open 7 days, but I'm wondering if you're willing to reconsider. By now you've already gotten constructive feedback, and watching oodles of people oppose you for days can't be good for your motivation/psyche—Wikipedia should be, above all, fun to edit, and will you be able to have fun if you're getting criticized like this? Finally, like Soap suggested at the RfA... if you really want to get some more constructive criticism and "dive back in" to editing Wikipedia, the best thing to do would be to get busy editing articles, helping in project space, etc... think of all the time that you could be spending getting reacquainted with the project if you didn't have to bother answering all these RfA questions and stuff. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 19:58, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

Alternatively, if you want more feedback, you could request an editor review on your work. Regards, --—Cyclonenim | Chat  21:12, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
Instead of starting a new section, I'll just build off Cyclonenim. I have added a review to your withstanding Editor Review (and only telling you about it because it began 2 years ago, and I didn't think you'd still be looking at it). By the way, I also minimized the multiple other reviews on it. They were from 2007, and you've already seen them, and if anyone new reviews, it'll be with easier readability. The best, Lәo(βǃʘʘɱ) 04:33, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
Thanks Leonard, I appreciate the work on my review. To respond to Cyclone and Rjanag, I've made another "statement" on the RfA page, if you haven't already noticed it. :-P GrooveDog (talk) (Review) 04:50, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

Now that it's basically closed, I thought I would say that I hope you continue to keep up the good work on Wikipedia and seriously consider running again in three to six months. The gap in your editing was really my only concern. By the way, the licensing issues are rather complicated and have been in a state of flux over the past month or two, which is why I posed the question. Thanks again! AfC template

Hi there. Commiserations about the above. Don't let it get you down and do consider running again later. Feel free to ask me for advice about it.

You seem to having problems with the {{AFC submission}} template. The ts and u parameters should be left unchanged when you decline a submission. There are the submission time and username of submitter and allow proper categorisation of the submissions. Thanks. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 09:17, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

Unwatched

Hello GrooveDog, would you like to add 1000 entries from the special:UnwatchedPages to your watch list? I can email you a list if you would like to undertake this neglected bit of admin work. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 10:04, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

Yep, for sure. Just send me a list and I'll add them. GrooveDog (talk) 19:46, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
Do you want more, I see you have watched that first 1000, how much can you take! Graeme Bartlett (talk) 11:22, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
I can probably handle another 1000. It takes me about 15 minutes to look through all edits for my current 1000 for a day, so I can probably handle around 2000. GrooveDog (talk) 02:32, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
I am not expecting that the unwatched pages are very active, but I suppose you will be finding out! Graeme Bartlett (talk) 10:00, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

Hi, I noticed your close of Wikipedia:Miscellany_for_deletion/PG.R.S._-_p001. There was nothing wrong with the fact that you closed it, just the formatting. I've closed it properly now. Please read Wikipedia:Miscellany_for_deletion/Administrator_instructions all the way through (not that it's that long) before you close others. Each deletion forum has it's own admin instructions, which you should probably read before closing in that forum. It's not that onerous, but it stops you from making technical errors. Any other errors are, of course, your own darn fault. :D Cheers, --Aervanath (talk) 17:49, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

Hi, remember the AFC backlog? There is actually a hidden WP:IFU backlog. If you go to the May and July archives of IFU, you can see it is actually a real mess, with collapsing section nested many deep inside collapsing sections. Many of these requests have not been accepted or declined. Are you interested in getting the template sorted - perhaps go through and change to use the {{ifu b}} on the ends, and then assess the ignored ones. I remember the old AFC used to be sometimes like this too, but usually just nested two deep, not a dozen deep. I find that no one ever fills in a fur request, so you can probably do it for people where the reason is obvious, eg cover or logo. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 22:35, 25 July 2009 (UTC)

Yep, for sure, I've got some spare time. I'll get to work on it, thanks! GrooveDog (talk) 22:36, 25 July 2009 (UTC)
I meant to say July and May 2008, July 2009 has some unprocessed ones too, but the collapsing boxes aren't broken. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 22:41, 25 July 2009 (UTC)

ACC

I'm kinda brand new on ACC and i really cannot understand how you picked up the account i was about to create. I never clicked on the 'Defer To Admins' link; i clicked on 'Create' and suddenly you were handling it because i had deferred to admins. It doesn't make any sense to me. I've spent hours just going over and over the guidelines waiting for a request that wasn't being handled by someone else and then this happens. If you have any ideas on what went wrong please let me know. delirious & lost (talk) 23:04, 1 October 2009 (UTC)

I watch the ACC feed at #wikipedia-en-accounts. You must have accidentally hit "Defer to Admins", so the tool broke your reservation and I picked it up after seeing it appear on the feed. GrooveDog (oh hai.) 23:10, 1 October 2009 (UTC)

I am in the middle of making edits ... and I don't type 9 zillion words per minutes, forgive me. Why are you reverting my edits about 0.000000001 seconds after I make them ... without giving me a chance to finish? Lighten up, dude. Jesus Christ. (64.252.124.238 (talk) 15:38, 23 October 2009 (UTC))

You added "xxxxxxxxx" to a page. Which is unnecessary and unconstructive, so I reverted you. Thanks, GrooveDog • i'm groovy. 15:40, 23 October 2009 (UTC)
(1) It was a PLACE HOLDER till I could find the correct, accurate words to place there (i.e., PLACE holder ) .... and (2) You reverted me about 0.0000000001 seconds after I made the edit, as I was in the middle of the edit .... LIGHTEN UP (64.252.124.238 (talk) 15:43, 23 October 2009 (UTC))
We don't use or need placeholders. Edit the page with what you have, then do research and make another edit. You don't really have a limit to the amount of edits you can make. GrooveDog • i'm groovy. 18:39, 23 October 2009 (UTC)
Stop micro-managing me. I felt it necessary to use a place holder. Had I left the info "with what I had" (as you suggested), some trigger-happy editor would have reverted that as well. Lighten up. Sometimes I wonder why I even bother to help improve Wikipedia. Unreal. (64.252.124.238 (talk) 15:51, 23 October 2009 (UTC))
I'm not micro-managing, I'm attempting to explain to you how Wikipedia editing works. We don't leave placeholders. Make small edits, and leave something as it is you think there should be a placer there. It's not difficult. GrooveDog • i'm groovy. 15:53, 23 October 2009 (UTC)
First of all, go and re-read your post ... that is the very definition of micro-managing. Second of all -- as I explained above -- no matter what I left (leave something as it is you think there should be a placer there), some trigger-happy editor (like, ummmm, you) would have swooped in 0.000001 seconds later and deleted it. I am done with this topic. I left some "xxxxx"'s as a place holder. Period. I didn't think it would cause World War 3. Please don't bother me again. Thanks. Bye. (64.252.124.238 (talk) 16:27, 23 October 2009 (UTC))
I'm following Wikipedia policies/guidelines/generals, you're not. I don't appreciate being called a "trigger-happy editor". As for the "swooped in and deleted it", welcome to a Wiki. GrooveDog • i'm groovy. 16:31, 23 October 2009 (UTC)

FinAnalytica

Hi GrooveDog, wanted to drop you a note about your change of the speedy tag for FinAnalytica from G12 to G11. You said it wasn't a copyright violation and I wanted to make sure you and I were on the same page. To me, the text on both the article and the website at [1] is exactly the same...even down to the formatting. There is no explicit cc-by-sa tagging on the website for the company, and in fact another page shows that everything on the site is © by them. Even with the article author saying 'oh I'm the original author of the text so its ok' on the talkpage, we need explicit permissions to reuse with wikipedia compatible licensing and part of the g12 tagging gave the author the information he needs to file an OTRS ticket.

I fully admit I could be wrong on my take on this, but I don't think I am...so I wanted to get your read on the situation. The advertising wording is a different hurdle that can be handled with editing assuming the copyvio issues can be fixed.

Cheers! Syrthiss (talk) 17:02, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

LinkedIn is more of a social networking site, it's like a Facebook profile. I can tell you with 99% certainty that FinAnalytica wrote their own little blurb on that website, and probably immediately decided to copy it over here. I'm not really in the know of any of LinkedIn's copyright policies, but I imagine that the text portion probably still belongs to the company. Both our taggings are correct, I was wrong to state that your's was incorrect. My apologies. :) GrooveDog FOREVER 17:25, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

Tien Shan Pai

Hi, GrooveDog.

I am putting up essentially identical text on XavexGoem's page, just for full disclosure.

I was wondering what is going on with the mediation attempt that I initiated. I can see that it was relisted as new, and am curious as to what that indicates.

Considering that the problem has essentially exploded in complexity (with the addition of two more extremely contentious editors) since I initiated the mediation attempt, what do you think I should do? Should I include them in the mediation attempt? Should I withdraw my mediation request and see if equilibrium on the article can be reached with more voices? Should we simply continue as is?

This is an argument that is full of emotion and energy on what is essentially a very minor page (even in the Wikipedia Martial Arts project). So I can very much understand a certain reluctance to become involved in such a messy matter. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Junzi (talk) 01:52, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

Articles for creation: O. Henry Playhouse

I was reviewing O. Henry Playhouse and was curious as to why you noted it as A7 -Lack of Notability asserted. The article stated that it both featured several television and film stars and was syndicated on national television. This would persumely pass A7 under Wikipedia:Notability (media)#Programming and therefore not be a CSD canidate under non-notible. It could instead be subject to a deletion PROD until better sources are added if you wish. I will attempt to help with the citing at a later time. Just wanted to address your review before updating. It looked like you spent a some time on it already and would be able to review it faster. --Kraftlos (Talk | Contrib) 08:06, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

I noticed you tagged the discussion on the page name as closed due to no consensus - however the page was moved originally from "flytoget" (where it got GA status) without any discussion..

This would make the orignal name the correct on to have? or not? Can you look at this thanks.Shortfatlad (talk) 18:28, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

While the page was moved without discussion, there wasn't a significant consensus on the talk page to move it back. Therefore I closed the request. GrooveDog FOREVER 21:18, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

What does stale mean at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Dsmith1usa/Archive? Hiding T 06:47, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

CheckUser only works on edits made very recently, I believe about three months. Stale means that accounts' last edits are too old to check, and therefore a check will not provide anything. GrooveDog FOREVER 21:13, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

As a side note, I believe the photobucket image you got this from was a photoshop and not the actual album cover. Disambiguation link notification for January 29

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Talkbits, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Android (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi Groove. Thanks for the move to article-space. The non-free images were about to get deleted tomorrow, so it was very convenient for it to get approved first.

Question: Do you think an article like this can make it to GA? Or is it too short? I believe it has all the sources/information appropriate for the subject, but a short article seems appropriate for the topic. I wonder if a GA reviewer would agree. CorporateM (Talk) 22:11, 29 January 2013 (UTC)

I think it is definitely possible with some work. I don't believe it is ready now based on the Criteria for good articles. It doesn't meet any of the quickfail criteria which is always a good start, but if you are looking for a GA review I would say a couple things probably need to be improved. I will edit through a few in a little while. I'm not sure if you're familiar with Wikipedia:Peer Review, but what they do is provide a second set of experienced eyes to look through your article to give a few ideas on what needs to be improved. Before requesting peer review I recommend you look through their list of most common issues they find with articles. GA status is a great goal to work towards. :) GrooveDog FOREVER 22:52, 29 January 2013 (UTC)
Thanks! I get dinged on Prose a lot. That's a place for me to improve on my journey up from B/C to GA class. I already have a Peer Review open for James Goodnight, so I can't open another. :-(
I might aspire to FA eventually, but for now I would be happy if I could consistently do GAs. I have a couple under my belt on a volunteer basis (which is way easier) and I think Sig Mejdal was my first actual COI GA nomination. I need to do the image copyrights and templates a bit better too. CorporateM (Talk) 02:36, 30 January 2013 (UTC)
BTW - I made a few small tweeks to Viralheat; hope that's ok. I try to avoid direct-editing in most cases where I have a COI, but I was just making some very minor adjustments. I noticed the Peer Review page you linked to suggested the Lead have something from each section of the article. The Viralheat article lead doesn't have content from the Reception or Findings sections, but I feel that's ok in this case, because the sections are so small. I wonder if you have any thoughts? CorporateM (Talk) 02:39, 30 January 2013 (UTC)
Didn't know you had a COI, but the edits you have made so far have been alright. I'm not sure what the response time usually looks like when you use requestedit on the talk page but if you ever want to make a substantial addition just throw me a note and I'll be glad to look it over. GrooveDog FOREVER 06:25, 30 January 2013 (UTC)
Yah, about half my work here is in a PR capacity. The AfC had a comment saying "I am submitting this article on Viralheat's behalf... appreciate your time and consideration." I apologize for not making my COI more obvious.
The Request Edit queue can wane for months, so for major re-writes of articles, realistically I do a lot of going around begging editors to review my work ;-)
Since it doesn't meet any quickfail criteria, I'll submit and see what feedback a GA reviewer has! Thanks again for all your help! CorporateM (Talk) 13:51, 30 January 2013 (UTC)

Hi. I have declined your {{speedy deletion-significance}} tags as the relevant criteria states it is "with the exception of educational institutions". The article probably wants merging and redirecting per WP:SCHOOLOUTCOMES. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 16:55, 8 February 2013 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
