Revision as of 01:00, 28 January 2021

Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Semi-protection: unconfirmed IP persistently reverting edits by autoconfirmed users and pushing POV, has been going on for weeks. (talk) 17:15, 26 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Pending-changes protected for a period of 3 months, after which the page will be automatically unprotected.--Ymblanter (talk) 21:50, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Page is seeing persistent vandalism given the current events associated with this person. Andrew Henderson (talk) 17:37, 26 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 07:12, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Cwmhiraeth: Thanks for your feedback. It’s still getting a lot more today but I will try and keep up with it myself. Andrew Henderson (talk) 17:12, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Andrew Hendo: I agree that several individuals are editing the article, but they are not vandalizing it, and fortunately, you are there to keep an eye on things. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 19:36, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
     Requesting immediate archiving... Samsara 19:18, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – article is subject to WP:GS/CRYPTO and has persistent problems with vandalism. Jtbobwaysf (talk) 19:36, 26 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Not much editing going on there... Samsara 04:39, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Not hearing any disagreement, I'll decline this one. Samsara 11:51, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Samsara 11:51, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    America's Got Talent - Multi-Season Articles

Temporary semi-protection: Disruptive editing, exactly the same as what occurred with America's Got Talent (season 3). Likely the action of the same sockpuppets. Considering that article has been given this protection arrangement, would recommend the same for these ones, since its unwelcome for such a user to think that they can sneak around a ban and not only vandalize one article with false information, but to do the same with others covering other seasons of a programme. GUtt01 (talk) 20:05, 26 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like the disruption has stopped. GUtt01, can you confirm? ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 14:55, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It is never easy to know if the disruption has stopped, or if the person(s) doing it won't start up when people least expect it. Sometimes it is better to "be safe than sorry", as the saying goes. GUtt01 (talk) 15:31, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing & addition of unsourced content by various IPs for the last few days. Armegon (talk) 20:53, 26 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Armegon: You messed up the article. I honestly don't know what to restore. As a long-registered user in good standing, I trust you to sort it out. Thanks. Samsara 11:47, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
    @Samsara: It's fixed.
Thank you. Looks like there's not much else happening now. I've put it on my watchlist. Samsara 19:05, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 2 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 15:00, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary extended confirmed protection: disruptive editing This page is being updated constantly with no sources being added to back up newly added information on class 321 units going for scrap despite me asking for such when reverting edits.

Of the edits I reverted 2 were made from IP adresses and 1 was made from a “sock puppet account” this is why I am making this request and one came from a user who just needed a little reminding of policy. Due to the frequency of these edits I ask for temporary page protection.Maurice Oly (talk) 01:29, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 3 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected.. The users making the edits all seem like IP addresses. Semi protection can handle that... ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 15:02, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – IP keeps making mass unsourced changes and keeps deleting some of the article despite being reverted by 3-4 different editors and despite being told to go to tp, They've also been using different IP addresses, Thanks,. –Davey2010Talk 11:53, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

IP hopper persistently adding unsourced content

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent adding of unsourced content/changing of sourced content by IP hopper. Alivardi (talk) 12:52, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary/Indefinite semi-protection - an LTA is targeting both the AfD and the associated article, closing the AfD as SNOW (while impersonating an administrator, generally). This LTA also seems to be targeting other AfDs, but I've not read enough into it to see if they also need a prot; if so I'll return with a list. Duration for the article should be until the AfD's scheduled to close (~08:00 UTC 28 Jan); AfD should be indefinite. —A little blue Bori v^_^v Takes a strong man to deny... 13:29, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary Semi-protection: Page has recently become subject to increased levels of gross vandalism, primarily from IP editors. Article is WP:BLP. The page is currently very relevant, as he is a candidate for President of Ecuador from one of the major Ecuadorean parties in the 2021 Presidential elections, that are set to take place in just over one week from now. Indefinite create protection: Repeatedly recreated – Due to the number of re-creations in both article space and draft space, recommend create-protection in both article space and draft space. Declined. No point in semi-protection since most of the combatants are autoconfirmed editors. And we certainly aren't going to shut down the whole noticeboard because of an explosion at one discussion. Somebody should simply shut down and hat that whole unproductive discussion, ASAP. Current requests for reduction in protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

    @KOTHARI44. What is the title of the article? -- Malcolmxl5 (talk) 00:01, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

"On 1 April, seven aid workers from World Central Kitchen, including British, Polish, Australian, and Irish nationals, were killed in an Israeli airstrike south of Deir al-Balah" is incorrect and should be reworded as

"On 1 April, seven aid workers from World Central Kitchen, including a dual US-Canada national, a Palestinian, three British citizens, an Australian, and a Pole, were killed in an Israeli airstrike south of Deir al-Balah" as per [2], [3]. 148.75.59.49 (talk) 23:26, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Create a level 3 header with a link to the article in question, then a {{pagelinks}} template and then the reason.
