Peace is a state of balance and understanding in yourself and between others, where respect is gained by the acceptance of differences, tolerance persists, conflicts are resolved through dialogue, people's rights are respected and their voices are heard, and everyone is at their highest point of serenity without social tension.

Martin, As you archive so regularly (unlike some editors ...) I thought that this would
a) Brighten up your page, and
b) Add a serious tone amidst all the hilarity.
All the best to you and yours –

I hate this BST ... why can't we stick with good old GMT? (... it follows the sun after all)
Cheers!

"OMFG". Not seen you for a while, Dot! I thought you'd been sent down for at least 30 years for giving Nasty Nick his last ever WP:GAR. But what a lovely musical gift! Hours of Manchester fun. lol. Martinevans123 (talk) 18:32, 26 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Editor of the Week

Editor of the Week
Your ongoing efforts to improve the encyclopedia have not gone unnoticed: You have been selected as Editor of the Week for your determination and dedication to help the encyclopedia grow. Thank you for the great contributions! (courtesy of the Wikipedia Editor Retention Project)

User:Ritchie333 submitted the following nomination for Editor of the Week:

Coming up to 9 years of service and 77,000 edits, Martinevans123 is truly one of the unsung heroes of Wikipedia. On the surface, you may know him for his witty banter and Private Eye-esque visual humour, which I always enjoy, but beneath the surface lies someone who toils away day in, day out, on keeping articles in better shape. He doesn't go for the big awards like GAs and FAs, but he really does make the encyclopedia better without much reward. This nomination was seconded by User:Yash! and User:MelanieN.

You can copy the following text to your user page to display a user box proclaiming your selection as Editor of the Week:

Thanks again for your efforts! Buster Seven Talk 19:35, 27 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Right, that's it! Please accept my resignation! 19:43, 27 February 2016 (UTC) p.s. but many thanks, anyway. That was really unexpected. I am deeply touched. (allegedly)
The award is usually distributed on Sunday. Due to the unexpected amount of touching displayed on this page you have been penalized with an additional day as Editor of the Week. This matter has not been discussed with the other WER clerks (Are there any other WER clerks?) and cannot be rescinded or changed in any way. Buster Seven Talk 20:08, 27 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I'm very pleased to see that you are keeping up the old traditions. Martinevans123 (talk) 21:01, 27 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Haha. Well, as Debbie might say .... "I'm always touched by your presents, dear." Martinevans123 (talk) 20:52, 27 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

We miss an article on your trophee [de], seriously! Cat music is not all there is to it. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:16, 28 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Well, as Google tells me: "Traditionally, it is used by men in the codpiece of costume lederhosen worn." I'll see what I can do! Martinevans123 (talk) 13:21, 28 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
It has come to the attention of the Editor Retentions' Board of Clerks that you may, perhaps, could be, in possession of a much desired and rarely displayed Official Wikipedia T-shirt. The report states that it is black with the The Wikipedia Globe prominently displayed. The report further states that you may have had your name imprinted on the front (potentially an act of vandalism). This would imply that you have already received accolades and "pats on the back" for your efforts. If that is, in fact, the case you may suffer the misfortune of having an additional day added to your week. The issue is under review. You will be advised ASAP. Buster Seven Talk 22:07, 27 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
To be honest, I often do feel just like running away.... But chosing the right t-shirt can be such a delicate task (boyo) Martinevans123 (talk) 22:42, 27 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Many many congrats M. This is well deserved - thanks so much for all you do here at WikiP. MarnetteD|Talk 22:29, 27 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Jeez.... talk about an "embarrassment of riches".... I now appear looking like some medieval ballet dancer, wielding a rustic baseball bat, with a low-slung Bavarian jockstrap and half-mast socks from the trenches. Do you take me for a complete fool?? I count myself very lucky to get this glittering award. A Ram Invents123 (talk) 13:08, 28 February 2016 (UTC) [reply]
Um....the baseball bat is more of a fungo bat, actually. It's used to hit fly balls to the outfielders during batting practice. And the Bavarian jockstrap is, um, obviously for someone that is well-endowed. Plus, its a Fool card. Not a Complete Fool card. I thought you would like it. The tights have a "slimming" quality, don't ya think? Buster Seven Talk 07:14, 29 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much. I asked Menerke bloem who has flower in his user name. There are a few more on the commons, feel free to look there, too. Also at my calendar pics. I know many flowers by German name, but neither Latin nor English, - all help appreciated. I also need help for the translation of today's topic Spiel nicht mit den Schmuddelkindern. I see he already has an article. Martinevans123 (talk) 12:27, 4 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
yes, and his sister-in-law is on the Main page, so now to the song and album, and a translation of just the title, or rather "Schmuddelkinder", - the rest is fairly common stuff. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:42, 4 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
GoogleTranslate produces flithy? But the autotranslate on de:Spiel nicht mit den Schmuddelkindern gives dirty, while The Times obit for Degenhardt here gives just grubby. Martinevans123 (talk) 15:15, 4 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, took grubby. Do you have access to the whole article? Could you check if it has some more useful for the article? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:40, 11 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Ooh, nice mix there! But if I had to choose one live performance, that's pretty much inch perfect all round.... I guess I'd have to choose this one from Montreux 1969. Benny Bailey's two trumpet breaks are just off the scale. Martinevans123 (talk) 17:48, 15 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Truth be told, YT is not a big fan of the horn, though with some exceptions (from Handel to, say, Jan Garbarek). And there's something about the word Trumpet that just bothers me.
Do you know about a word game called Lexulous? Don't bother with Wiki's lousy article about it. I'll send an email. – Sca (talk) 18:40, 16 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) Er, ahem, excuse me. Speaking from a totally dispassionate and professional position of No-COI-What-Me-Guv-Nah I wish to say that there is nothing bothersome about the word Trumpet as such. Indeed 99% of all rational, reasonable people would agree that it is among the most beautiful words in the language. When you start knocking letters off the far end, sure, there is a problem starting to develop. But trumpet? Nah, lovely DBaK (talk) 23:51, 16 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
DBaK, I can't help feeling that you're blowing your own trumpet here. Martinevans123 (talk) 09:10, 17 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Guilty. I admit everything. DBaK (talk) 20:44, 17 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
How do we feel about the word Trumpery, then? – Sca (talk) 00:19, 18 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Our level of negativity about the similarity between Certain Words and Certain Other Words is off the scale. It's as if the world has carefully dreamt up a PR disaster for the trumpet-playing community, from which it could take decades to recover ... sigh ... DBaK (talk) 17:20, 18 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
c/o You-Tuba: this.... teehee, or even.... thisMartinevans123 (talk) 17:25, 18 January 2021 (UTC) p.s. and in case you've never seen it... "Life Accordion To Trump" is highly recommended.[reply]
Beginning today, the new buzzword is detrumpification (possibly coined by Anthony Scaramucci). – Sca (talk) 14:53, 20 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ah yes. As in "Scaramucci, Scaramucci, will you do the Fandango"?? Martinevans123 (talk) 15:08, 20 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Although speaking as a detached and wholly unbiased professional, I was most gratified to see trumpets featuring quite heavily in the detrumpification, including a moment by a mate, to whom, now he's even famouser, I shall shortly start sending begging letters, requests for endorsements etc etc ... DBaK (talk) 17:50, 20 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Admin

Ever thought about running for admin? I have looked at your block log and the one about sockpuppetry is a little concerning, but I'm willing to hear your explanation before rejecting you as a candidate. You've been around more than long enough to have a clue, and making mistakes along the way is fine as long as they are learnt from. Mjroots (talk) 09:17, 16 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm, I'll think it over. Mjroots, I'm seriously flattered that you should use the A-word here. My block log makes interesting reading, including the multiple instances of sockpuppetry (only some of which were actually me!) Not being an Admin is one of the few things that keeps me here! LOL (switched from Laura Mvula talk!)

I was going to reply to you but thought maybe I'd upset the more uptight editor-types putting a personal note on a bio talk page... :-) You are one of my fave Wikipedians and I always know the voice of reason is around when you're editing... Cheers! --gobears87 (talk) 23:53, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, gobears, that's very nice to know, thanks so much. Yes, I know the type. Martinevans123 (talk) 09:59, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Quick question: you might check my recent edit on a certain talk page... is there a place to complain somewhere about overly aggressive editing? I've been editing 12 years and it seems to get worse and worse, so many people who are trying to find some source of self-worth from aggressive comments and/or edits. I wish it was easier to nip in the bud - things used to be more courteous around here! Cheers :-) --gobears87 (talk) 21:52, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Lexprofi. Thanks for expanding the article. Your additions have more than doubled its size. As I wrote in my edit summary of 27 January, however, your re-write contravenes WP:MOS, in terms of layout of the lead section. Also, you've made no edit summaries to explain what you've done, so other editors may be a bit confused. I'd urge you to open a new section at Talk:Jim Dine to briefly explain what you've done. Many thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 09:54, 29 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there - just wanted to quickly thank you for cleaning up my additional anecdote about Hugh Dennis' name-changing debacle. My Boy Lollipop

My boy lollipop

Popular music from reunified Germany??

Dear Mr. Evans, you have deleted my mention about the group “Musicbox” cover version of “My Boy Lollipop”. Because I never published anything before on Wikipedia I am not fully aware of their rules and regulations. Maybe you are so kind to help me edit my contribution that it becomes “eligible” for you to be published. The background: During my late thirties ( I am now 71) and always interested in music, I co-produced the German group Musicbox. Their album: ‘The First Project’ was recorded at Music Park Studios in Bad Homburg, Germany with the help of notable musicians Harry Baierl (Boney M, Milli Vanilli) Michael Wyn (Nosferatu) and mixed by Frank Fahrian's Sound Engineer R. Tammy Grohe. After listening to our demos in London, Virgin A&R Manager Muff Winwood (Spencer Davies Group) told me that he would like, but could not publish the song because they had just purchased the original rights. He recommended Canadian record company DINO Music which during Midem 1997 accepted to produce and publish an LP, a single and one of the first Cd’s ever for the German-speaking market. They also produced two Music videos and organized several radio and television appearances of Musicbox. Their version of the song was particularly successful because of the “Mickey Mouse” voice of singer Kali(mero). The LP sold about 20.000 units, CD sales have been marginal. The German Music publication “Der Musikmarkt” featured Musicbox with a story. Thank you for your attention and consideration. Respectfully Thomas Martin — Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.61.224.100 (talk) 16:39, 10 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Thomas. Thanks very much for your note and all that background information. The answer is quite simple, to be generally notable at Wikipedia we'd expect to have an article called "Musicbox (German band)", or something similar. I looked but could not find one, even at German Wikipedia. Would you care to write one (for English Wikipedia)? But even if you did, I have to warn you that their version of "My Boy Lollipop” might not be deemed "notable enough" to be mentioned at the song article, unless it has been mentioned in numerous reliable sources, e.g. magazine reviews or books on German pop music, etc. Does that make the situation clearer for you? Regards. Martinevans123 (talk) 16:48, 10 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Martin,I apreciate your fast answer and advice. I will think about writing an article about the group but for me, the songs had much more importance than the group. I grew up in the sixties and I think we produced very decent covers- in comparison to a lot of others. Would you like to receive a voice file? It's very difficult to get material from 1987, the internet was not developed. Anyhow, nice talking to you. I learned something today! Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.61.224.100 (talk) 17:38, 11 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
You are very welcome. It's a bit of an odd situation to have a song that's more notable that the group, although I suppose this does happen for unknown bands that record the first version of a song, or for those that are "one-hit wonders". In this case, of course, the original by Millie is certainly the best known one in the UK. Please feel free to send me a voice file if you wish. Martinevans123 (talk) 17:47, 11 February 2021 (UTC) p.s. the best place any new article or first mention might be over at de.wiki? They do at least have de:My Boy Lollipop already.[reply]

Hello, hello

Hi Martin,
I have popped back into clarify the Keats/Harrow question. I wondered if you might be able to archive the Keats talk page from start to around 2010. Most of the earlier chat isn't very relevant to the current article, and the page has never had sections archived before. I've been away too long to remember how to do it. If it's a faff, no worries. It's hardly vital.
About the Plath stamp question, opening up a 'popular influence' section etc seems to me to be an open invitation for it to be filled with all sorts of tosh. Not sure the stamp is that significant. I would tend to go for lean articles, but happy to defer to your judgement. I hope you are doing well and enjoying the WP life. Stay safe and well. Anna (talk) 03:53, 17 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Anna,
I hope you are well. Thanks for popping back. Have done a manual archive. Do you think that's enough? Re postage stamps:
"I love people. Everybody. I love them, I think, as a stamp collector loves his collection." — Sylvia Plath, The Unabridged Journals of Sylvia Plath Haha. Martinevans123 (talk) 10:45, 17 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Perfect. Thanks. I've tried to add a bit of clarity to the Keats legacy conversion question. Do you know the source for the historical currency gizmo? I don't think that was around when I was a lass. There is large discrepancy (£100 000) between the gimzo figure for the legacy and the National Archive estimate.
I have to say that when I pop back, I am amazed how close these original articles are to 12 years ago. I always assume they will have got trashed (esp the referencing), not no, not much. With big names, like Keats, they are generally improved. The WP system seems to me nuts, these days - incredibly time-intensive, so it's heartening to see a lot of personal work improved and remaining as it was referenced in the Keats article (2009-2012 ish, me surrounded by stacks of biographies from the library). Something is working somewhere. I suspect it is you. Lol.
Since I stopped editing at WP my eye problems are much better. It's a shame to have moved on, as I loved the writing of new articles in particular but the coding is just a killer - trying to spot a missing bracket. I now run a large neighbourhood network, and the experience of watching the WP community battle itself has been invaluable; if only for the toughening of skin. When you have been attacked for years on WP as a Romanian fascist, a Russian spy, a Grammar Nazi, a Mosad agent, British govt minister, homophobic ring leader etc etc, not much can touch you. It has stood me in good stead to understand the ways of the fearful (online) heart. It's also helped me greatly improve my writing skills and source analysis. Though I still can't spell.
Of the hundreds of poetry articles I overhauled, wrote or rewrote, I think John is closest to my heart. So, thank you for your care of him. He lived a few doors up from the house where I grew up (so to speak), so I think of him as eccentric neighbour in need of TLC and good cake. x Anna (talk) 07:13, 18 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Anna. Thanks for your note and your valuable copy edits over at John Keats. I have no idea of the source for the historical currency gizmo! There's more info at Template:Inflation. That's quite a collection of accusations you have there! I'm now wondering where that Keats residence was, haha. Martinevans123 (talk) 10:14, 18 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Do not open if offended by Jewish humour or brain samples
Remember, you were warned.

Isaac is an honest Jewish man, but he recently found out his son converted to Christianity. This is no good, for Isaac is a devout observant Jew. This shouldn’t happen to a proud Jew like he.
So Isaac visits his friend Albert and says "Albert, Albert, my son has become a Christian, what am I going to do?"
"Funny you should say that’ says Albert, "My son has also become a Christian, this should not happen to a proud, devout Jew like me. So they talk with each other and say "we'll talk to the Rabbi, he'll know what to do."
So the two Jews visit the Rabbi and say "Rabbi, Rabbi, our sons have become Christian, what are we going to do?"
"Funny you should say that," says the Rabbi, "My son has also become a Christian, this should not happen to a proud, devout Jew of my status." So the three men talk with each other and say "we'll ask God, he'll know what to do!"
So the Rabbi calls out "God, God, our sons have become Christian, what are we going to do?"
Suddenly a bright celestial light shines through the clouds and the thunderous voice of God rings out:
"Funny you should say that..."

Not mysterious at all. El C, archive 20. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:08, 16 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
That's very cryptic, Gerda. I was mightily disappointed to be awarded only 7 face palms. Martinevans123 (talk) 18:49, 16 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Probably not worth looking, but there, the IP I met - looking similar - requested me to not thank for the TFA. No facepalm in sight. I said several times I wish he'd edit under his real name. Did you know that The Rite of Spring will be TFA on 6 April? Remember the discussion growing before and during arbinfobox? All history. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:33, 16 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Spam of antidepressants articles

In regard to https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Fluoxetine&curid=10153680&diff=1010264578&oldid=1010264498. The same IP also spammed Sertraline, Venlafaxine, Serotonin–norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor, and Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor with exactly the same text. I reverted some of it but really do not want to engage into an edit war. Can there be some kind of admin remedy? — Preceding unsigned comment added by The Sceptical Chymist (talkcontribs) 16:42, 4 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm. The sources look good: [1][2][3][4] Irving Kirsch has an article. So, it's well-thought-out and not vandalism. But it does look like spamming and editing against consensus. Best to discuss at one of the article Talk pages, to which the IP can be invited, but not sure which one. Martinevans123 (talk) 18:43, 4 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

John Lee Hooker is indeed awesome. I watched the video of his song, that you linked to, and I'm particularly impressed with how he sang without moving his lips. --Tryptofish (talk) 20:32, 4 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm, yes, Billy and Dusty not exactly leaping about either were they. Mr. Hooker obviously missed his vocation. Martinevans123 (talk) 20:40, 4 March 2021 (UTC) Very glad you enjoyed that video. Really not sure why Frosty the Snowman gets a copyright credit in the "SHOW MORE" section!?[reply]

Regarding Malaysian Airlines 370 Article

I have seen you twice reverted by changes to the article, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malaysia_Airlines_Flight_370_disappearance_theories, could you please explain whats wrong with it. While I am new to Wikipedia, so if I am talking to you at wrong place please let me know that too. I tried to add value to the MH370 article. Today Mh370 completed 7 years of disappearance, and I found this great article so considered it good to mention this article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Adityamilyin (talkcontribs) 14:52, 8 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Adityamilyin. Thanks for your note. The best place to discuss your addition is over at Talk:Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 disappearance theories. I had to repair the article as you had tried to added an unnecessary subsection heading at the top. But I also have doubts about the source you used and the claims it makes. Other editors may wish to discuss it. Regards. Martinevans123 (talk) 15:20, 8 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, well everything is misinformation considering the fact that the MH370 investigation never gave a conclusion, on to the point of me not mentioning sources, well I am new to Wikipedia, please advice how to properly do that, first of all I clearly mentioned that Ministry of Malaysia was still investigating the prospect of a possible atempt to make a call, and it is true that Co-Pilot's cell phone briefly connected to a tower. Secondly you mentioned the subsection, okay may be I should have added it as a part of some other section itself rather than creating a new section, it is clearly in the ATC records that Ho Chi Minh called after 18 minutes, while the internation rule is to do it within 5 minutes. And internation rules also say that a fighter jet should be close to the aircraft within 20 minutes, in case of a potential threat and loss communications. This is standard rule, it has happened with Helios Flight 522 too. The standard rule was not followed, and that too is in government records. The url I mentioned was just because I found the explanation of that URL really good and precise, else I have mentioned that the 18 minute delay was from ATC, and it is genreally known that no fighter jet was known, and the Wikipedia article had already mentioned that the inital searches werre in South China sea, but that information further just explained that if INMARSAT was used early possible debris could be found. Weather reports of same time also show that 2 cyclones happened in its approx crash location. Also, we do not have direct link for the government records, it is public but not directly available on internet, and weather report if you want I can add, by finding it from internet, nothing has been cooked up by me, and I mentioned that site, because the text I added in wikipedia was a direct copy paste from that site, https://milyin.com/mh370-update-2021-what-happened-to-mh370-mystery/#11 the heading that says "Was the MH370 Shot down? Or was there any country that wanted to revenge?" has the exact text used in the wikipedia edit of mine, while it isnt a source, it definitely is a great explanation, also there is no need for worrying about plaigarism, I have the permission from the owner of that site to use the text here. Please suggest what I can do to get my edit back. Looking forward to your reply. Will Weather report, and removing subheading be enough? Adityamilyin (talk) 18:04, 8 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

an old pal

I came across this when I noticed the editor disruptively editing some women's health articles. They are not as new as they seem. Thought you may want to know. CUPIDICAE💕 17:03, 8 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ah. Thanks for that. The same tiny, gnomic and seemingly pointless edits, supported by nearly incomprehensible rambling and overly-complicated explanations? Martinevans123 (talk) 17:38, 8 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Pretty much. Yep. I told him if they were going to sock they should probably work on being more coherent. Why they've chosen to mess up articles related to women's health with their nonsense, I haven't got a clue. CUPIDICAE💕 17:46, 8 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I must admit, I am also somewhat baffled. Martinevans123 (talk) 18:00, 8 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
And now indef bocked as a sockpuppet of Whalestate. What a complete waste of time that all was. Martinevans123 (talk) 13:23, 12 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yup. I'm a little disappointed it took that long. CUPIDICAE💕 19:06, 12 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

No, not "lol". You know these are not acceptable sources. This does not confirm "Some tedders have the rotating tines enclosed inside a solid structure to increase the force applied to the hay" or that the two you mentioned are similar to...similar to what? The YouTube videos don't confirm the text (and there are no words, and it's YouTube videos, etc), and so even if they were somehow reliable they don't source the text. Come on--this is silly. Drmies (talk) 19:01, 12 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I think the videos not only provide ample evidence that these machines exist, but also do a very good job of showing how they work. I'm also pretty sure that acceptable textual sources will be available somewhere. I expect, just like me, you're already busy looking for them. Until they can be located, I guess small adjustments to the text and/or adding back in cn tags would be perfectly acceptable. I'd have to agree with you that that source is not a very useful one, so I've removed it. Martinevans123 (talk) 19:16, 12 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Martin, that they exist doesn't mean anything, you know that. No I'm not looking for stuff. I already wrote the article, and dedicated it to User:tedder, and I think I did a pretty good job. I see on the talk page that you showed an interest in this in 2010 already--surely ten years of research should suffice for finding acceptable sources. Drmies (talk) 22:07, 12 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Dr. Mies, Very sorry I've scored such low marks after a full ten ten years. I must have got distracted. So, you "already wrote the article"? My hearty congratulations. Please dispense with any links to problematic videos that might mess up your dedication. Martinevans123 (talk) 22:17, 12 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Uhh oh, what am I trouble for now? And can I use my username as a citation? tedder (talk) 03:56, 14 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I'm the one in trouble, Ted, for not doing my haymaking homework for the last 10 years. I think you can use it, as long as it doesn't involve a YouTube video. I feel so out of condition. Martinevans123 (talk) 09:35, 14 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

About the F-16 WIKI page

The current wiki page about F-16's climb rate is completely wrong: It says the F-16C block50 has only 254m/s climb rate at sea level, and the source is its flight manual. However, I am not seeing any "254m/s" from its flight manual. However the manual proves that it sustains a 1200ft/sec (370m/s) climb rate even in a 4.2G ascending turn, which means it can sustain even higher rate in straight line climb! https://i.postimg.cc/hthftrg7/Figure-B8-37-F-16-C-block50-supplement-manual.png Please let me correct this, otherwise it's misleading and will cause under-estimation of F-16's performance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Oldtimesake (talkcontribs) 00:40, 16 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

James Watt

@Martinevans123, I'd like to expand upon James Watt's work on factious airs. There are several important contributions in the carbon monoxide space that should be mentioned on Watt's page. The page is protected, but it appears you have previous administered revisions. What is the best way to go about this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by SloppyTots (talkcontribs) 02:07, 21 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi SloppyTots, yes James Watt is semi-protected. You can use Template:Edit semi-protected at Talk:James Watt. But you might want to look at WP:AUTOCONFIRM - you need to have an account that is at least 4 days old and has made at least 10 edits to the encyclopedia. Meanwhile I have now seen your edits under Talk:James Watt#Factitious Airs, so I will have a look if I can help. Regards. Martinevans123 (talk) 09:26, 21 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, do you have a reference for the pronunciation you added here? Thanks. ElAhrairah inspect damageberate 18:16, 21 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Elahrairah. I can try and find one. Or you may be able to? I was basing my addition on the numerous radio, television and YouTube pieces on Rees-Zammit that I have heard over the past 12 months. The BBC commentary on the Grand Slam decider yesterday, would be a case in point. Do you know of anything different? Thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 18:36, 21 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Here's an example. Martinevans123 (talk) 18:49, 21 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Champion leeks
Hogg tartan

The permutations are fairly straightforward, but for clarity:

If France win by less than 20 points, Wales are Champions, and England 5th.
If France win by over 20 points and score at least 4 tries, France are Champions and England 5th.
If Scotland win, Wales are Champions and England 5th.
If it’s a draw, Wales are Champions and England 5th.
If France win by 20 and score 5 tries, the championship is shared and England are 5th.

Woooo, 23–27. What a final match. Excellent refereeing from Wayne Barnes. A great effort from both sides. Another win in the final gruelling moments. Martinevans123 (talk) 22:11, 26 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The view now on Architecture articles is that galleries are very acceptable. I was slightly disappointed by the range, there don’t appear to be any Good Pictures in the set, and the few of the interiors are poor. I believe the NT doesn’t allow interior photography. The Bourgeois Blues

Heya. The Bourgeois Blues is a magnet for people to add trivia related to "X artist covered the song". It seems that the Ry Cooder version was added to the lead by a drive-by IP. The Telegraph / The Daily Telegraph

Hi there, just a quick note according the wiki article and the online version its self the publication seems to simply be called The Telegraph when in reference to its online version. The Daily Telegraph seems to be its in-print name. The "London" bit is just to disambiguate it from the other publications called The Telegraph (not too fussed just wanted to note/explain). Thanks for helping update/maintain the article regardless.  Spy-cicle💥  Talk? 22:13, 8 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I get confused over website=/ work=/ publisher=, and the format appropriate for each. I had never seen "The Telegraph" used before. I assume all of the news sources at that article are to web articles, so I guess we need to be consistent across all. Thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 22:19, 8 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
p.s. that DAB page suggest it should be Telegraph.co.uk (although why the upper case "T", I don't know). Martinevans123 (talk) 22:44, 8 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Per Template:Cite web Website and work I believe are identical and are aliases of each other. Publisher is company, organization or other legal entity that publishes the work being cited very often the owner. For example website=IGN|publisher=Ziff Davis Though often redundant when they have similiar names like: website=The New York Times|publisher=The New York Times Company. So is it okay if I change it back to The Telegraph for the website parameter as that is the name of the online website/work.  Spy-cicle💥  Talk? 15:20, 9 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Many thanks for that. I guess in the internet age newspapers want to shed the "daily" straight-jacket. This is why the Daily Mail transforms into the "Mail Online". But the same old rubbish (only worse). Martinevans123 (talk) 15:21, 9 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If anyone deserves to attend the funeral, it might be these guys. But I'm pretty sure 30 members of family could easily be found. Martinevans123 (talk) 18:19, 9 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Of course, we've got our own "god-like spiritual figure" to worship, haven't we. Martinevans123 (talk) 16:47, 12 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

2021 Grand National

Hi Martin, I have the colours for 1, 3 & 4 finishers yesterday (see my sandbox)- the 2nd place was owned by a new syndicate "Racehorse Club" with crazy colours [13] I don't see on commons, do you know anyone smart enough to make these kind of things. Thanks for updating (and defending the posting of) this article JW 1961 Talk 12:32, 11 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi User:Joseywales1961, any relation to Clint?? I wish I did know someone. After seeing that there are a total of 11,179 media images listed at Commons Cat:Racing silks, I decided I didn't know how to search them efficiently or create any new ones if required. I guess our best bet would be to locate the editor(s) who created/ added the same at 2019 Grand National. As for the ITN nom, yes I know it's best to have a "prose description" (which is essential a summary of the entire radio/TV commentary) but the essential bits are which horses and jockeys ran and which horses and jockeys won? Martinevans123 (talk) 12:58, 11 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
No relation, ha (just one of my favourite films). I went through the cat on commons so I'll try and contact some from previous years (or maybe a file uploader in that cat) Thanks JW 1961 Talk 13:10, 11 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yesterday's Main page was beautiful. Can you tell me something about the setting of Psalm 115 mentioned here, #24, and the Mozart connection? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:43, 11 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it did look nice. Especially the Red-billed streamertail. But whatever can I tell you? Martinevans123 (talk) 18:54, 11 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know ;) The composer set Psalm 115? CXV? In Welsh? What has Mozart to do with it? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:07, 11 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yesterday, I liked the Schlosspark best, and the role model, by playing one role. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:09, 11 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Well, Non nobis says "There are surviving copies of the Non nobis Domine canon in the hands of both Mozart and Beethoven." No WAM mentioned at John Owen (Owain Alaw). But beyond that, I have no idea! Martinevans123 (talk) 19:24, 11 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
We don't look for the canon but a Psalm setting in Welsh, and I can't do that. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:18, 11 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Well, here are the words. But as for a Mozartian musical setting, I have no idea. Meanwhile, here's a nice English one (1973, Guildford Cathedral Choir, directed by Barry Rose). Martinevans123 (talk) 20:24, 11 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. Quite the treasure: [14] --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:12, 11 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I now opened the other book (IMSLP). The piece in question is on p. 140, which is p. 144 of the pdf, and it's music in B-flat major labeled Mozart, but I don't know the piece. I guess he translated some psalm words to Welsh to match the music. Doesn't look like 18 verses to me. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:32, 11 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Oh well done, Gerda! Wherever did "Mozart" come from? I wonder if there is a Mozart scholar here who might know. Martinevans123 (talk) 21:36, 11 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I think Owen just took a Mozart piece and put the words to it. - for you with thanks --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:57, 11 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, thank you for Olena Tokar. I will enjoy something nice from there. Martinevans123 (talk) 22:10, 11 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
