Revision as of 19:47, 15 April 2012

Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

    Current requests for protection

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

    Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism by I.P users. — иz нίpнόp  11:38, 14 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary full protection: Content dispute/edit warring – Adding information contrary to the existing reference, altering quotes from the reference, failure to engage in the existing talk page discussion—the point at issue isn't settled and does need more discussion. Several IP editors. Old Moonraker (talk) 07:55, 14 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – The article relates to a Hindu festival that is currently in progress. As such, it is generating what is probably temporary interest from anons who are by & large disrupting something that is already pretty poorly sourced etc. The festival runs for 10 days and the disruption will most likely cease thereafter. The contributions are, I am sure, made in good faith but they are almost all being reverted due to sourcing issues etc. Sitush (talk) 01:07, 14 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent reintroduction of unverified BLP trivia. There's too many accounts already doing that; the added disruption by IPs is unwelcome. Drmies (talk) 16:47, 13 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Fullprotection: This article has been the target of a great deal of high level vandalism for a while now. The continuous adding of inappropriate material to the episode guides, and endless reversions I and other users have had to spend time implementing has reached breaking point. The article needs full protection indefinitely otherwise I would suggest having it removed entirely. ShedMediaUK (talk) 13:28, 12 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Knowing absolutely nothing about the subject of the article, is this actually vandalism or more of a content dispute? - Rjd0060 (talk) 16:33, 12 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
    I asked ShedMediaUK to clarify. EdJohnston (talk) 21:36, 12 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
This is persistant vandalism on a daily basis, not a dispute - vandalism. The article need protection. For example, entire texts are replaced by stupid, ridiculeous attempts at things like fanfic, abuse, obscure claims toward the programme. It needs stoping. ShedMediaUK (talk) 21:59, 12 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – High level of unregisted and new IP activity including multiple attempts by different individuals to remove the plot entirely, lots of people adding massive amounts to the plot a nd ignoring repeated attempts to trim and/or notices about it, altering POV of reception section. Darkwarriorblake (talk) 15:22, 15 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism, editing war of IPs, consistent adding of unsourced and unverified trivia information. Darkreason (talk) 11:54, 15 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 3 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. œ 15:33, 15 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – For some reason the vandals are really going for it on this page today. srushe (talk) 11:33, 15 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 3 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 14:20, 15 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Numerous IP and user vandalisms trying to insert a picture that is a clear BLP violation. Manway 18:38, 14 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Declined. It seems to have stopped since the last reversion nearly 24 hours ago, but please report again if it starts again. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 14:25, 15 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Edit war in progress involving the IP 60.234.212.234. Also, high level of vandalism in general. Danmuz (talk) 07:12, 14 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Just an update to inform that right now the edit war is suspended as the IP user (which, it turns out, had a user account as well) has agreed to discuss the matter on the Talk page. A discussion which is ongoing. The article still has a generally high level of vandalism by IP users, so it may still be useful to semi-protect it, but that is of course for an admin to judge. Danmuz (talk) 11:15, 15 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Declined. As it has gone to discussion now, and the IP has an account, I don't think it currently needs protection. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 15:04, 15 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary Semi-protection: Too vandalism going on by IP hoppers. They removing tag without discussion and adding unnecessary materials. Please do something.--(talk→ Kkm010 ←track) 04:04, 14 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Declined Apart from a couple of minor bits, I'm not really seeing this IP hopper vandalism. I do see possible content disputes, but they need to be discussed on the Talk page. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 14:57, 15 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

    Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Blackgaia02 (Talk if you're Worthy) (talk) 03:18, 14 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Declined. I see no vandalism, just a content dispute and no discussion - please discuss it on the article Talk page. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 14:38, 15 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: BLP policy violations – BLP vandalism. -- Luke (Talk) 02:23, 14 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Declined. I'm not really seeing much in the way of vandalism or BLP violations - it looks like mainly well-meaning edits that are being handled by copy editing etc. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 14:33, 15 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary full-protection - Changes into a unsources version of article going on.--BabbaQ (talk) 22:31, 13 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Declined. The editor making the unsourced changes has been blocked for a username violation - please report again if they are unblocked and resume these edits. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 14:29, 15 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

    Current requests for unprotection

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Unprotection: Talk page, should not be protected simply because the non-talk page is protected. LikeLakers2 (talk | Sign my guestbook!) 18:38, 7 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Note: I agree but I'd like to wait for UtherSRG (talk · contribs) to explain this protection first. Regards SoWhy 21:33, 7 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
