Wenche Hallan

Your article on Wenche Hallan does not demonstrate (nor am I able to find any sources that would demonstrate) how she meets the criteria for inclusion for musicians. Hallan doesn't appear to have achieved any significant success in her music, other than the Spellemannprisen, an award which does not appear to meet the criteria of "major musical awards" required by the inclusion criteria. You are invited to expand the article to demonstrate notability. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 14:08, 5 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

June 2012

Hello, Knuand. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Vejvančický (talk | contribs) 07:26, 6 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Of course, why din't I think of that before ... asking people that knows the moust about a person is obviously stupid, and a the same as a speedily deletion ... why didn't I think of that before ... stupid!! I'm sorry, enjoy!

indicates a lack of understanding of Wikipedia policies. Wikipedia articles, especially biographies of living people, must have reliable sources so as to be able to verify the information in the articles. Your biography of your mother does not have such sources, and relies instead on your knowledge of her. Only independently-written published sources are acceptable. Notability and Conflict of interest

I'm going to see if I can explain a few things here without pointing you to a lot of other pages.

Wikipedia gets lots and lots and lots of articles written each day about people (and other subjects). But Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a social network or Who's who site. Not every person in the world is on enough interest for an encyclopedia to have an article about them. So Wikipedia developed standards as to which articles would or would not be allowed on the project. These standards are generally referred to as "Notability". And Notability means Wikipedia's definition of notability, not anyone else's definition. It means whether or not the person meets the inclusion standards.

The people at issue are very important to you. That is obvious. But unless they meet the notability standards of the project, then I'm sorry, but they just cannot have an article here. Arguing various reasons for their inclusion that have nothing to do with Wikipedia's standards is not going to be a winning argument. And, unfortunately, the reasons that these people are important to *you* are not at all reasons that match Wikipedia's standards. In this case, you are most likely fighting a losing battle. I'm sorry, but it's how it is.

As for Conflict of Interest (COI)... editing with a COI is not forbidden, but it is highly discouraged. What we are seeing happen right now is one reason why. You are so highly invested emotionally in the people behind the articles that you appear to be taking personally things are not in any way meant personally. Wikipedia has rules and standards. You disagree with them. And because of your connections to the article subjects, you are getting highly worked up when those rules are not in your favor. Long time Wikipedia editors have seen this many times before. COI editing very, very often ends badly.

You have said several times that it appears to you that Wikipedia does not want you here. This is far from being true. We do want you here. But we cannot and will not ignore our standards and rules. - TexasAndroid (talk) 18:09, 21 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Notability

First, thank you very much for taking the time! This is the firt time sombody try to explain anything to me... Luckily I do pick up things quite easily although more then 50 years old. I do see the problem of involvement, but even so, the the benefit of knowing much about the subjects you write about is not a disqualification on Wikipedia, or am I wrong? My impression is that beeing relative is a disqualification, and further more, some editors think more then one person in a family is suspcius! My personal interest in this case is not familiar! I can see that this seems like a empty remark, but my interest is the time I spend writing an article! When somebody delete my artickles, I want to beleve there are objective reasons for doing so. When I go back and look at the discussions, I belive there are other agendas for delitions! I have to apologise for beeing new at Wikipedia, and do not know everything about how deletion discussions work. Many of these discussions have gone by without my contribution. When 50% of your work is deleted, it should not be suprising that I don't feel welcome here! I would like to contest some of the delitions because I think they are poorely reasoned. Again, thank's for taking the time. Sinserely Knut Knuand (talk) 18:56, 21 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

As I said, COI is not a disqualification, but discouraged. Being too close to the subject emotionally can cause a number of problems. Your reactions to the deletions is one such. Another is that you may find it hard to write neutrally about a subject to which you are close. If there is anything negative about the subject, you might find it difficult to write it yourself, or feel you need to "defend" the subject if someone else writes the negative. But as long as negative information follows the rules of the project, it has it's place here just as much as positive information. Wikipedia strives to be neutral, to seek the middle ground, presenting both sides when there are too sides.
Your comments about there being other agendas is problematic. In one way there *are* other agendas. The agendas are what is best for Wikipedia. For following the rules. Just because you do not understand the rules does not in any way make them sinister. We have something here called AGF, or Assume Good Faith. By ascribing to others mysterious bad agendas, you are assuming *bad* faith, assuming bad about them. Doing so, and acting or lashing out on these assumptions, is going to cause you lots of problems. AGF means that, in the absence of evidence otherwise, you should assume (and act as if) the other person only has desires towards the best for the project. If you keep this in the front of your mind, you'll find your time here much easier. You want to improve the project, but so do others. The fact that you are in conflict with others about how best to do that does not in any way lessen everyone's goal, improving the encyclopedia.
But back to Notability. The Notability rules are very much designed to be objective. The fact that you do not (yet) understand them does not change this. The project had to draw lines somewhere for what was and what was not allowed to have articles, and the results are the Notability rules. They may not be intuitive, but they are indeed fairly objective. The key to general notability is the idea that something (or someone) has to have gotten a certain level of attention outside of Wikipedia before they are considered notable enough to have articles remain. And this is, at it's most basic, shown by being able to give Reliable Sources (RS) to establish the notability. RS need to meet three criteria. They must be Reliable, Independent, and Non-Trivial. A blog is generally not Reliable. A press release is not Independent. And being included in a list of something would be a trivial reference. If a reference does not meet all three of these requirements, then it does not show Notability. One RS goes a long way towards showing Notability. Two RS pretty much seals it. The easiest example of a RS would be a full newspaper article on the subject, written independently of the subject, in a established newspaper. This is far from the only type of RS, but it works as an example. - TexasAndroid (talk) 19:45, 21 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Translating articles from no:wp

Thanks for your effort in translating articles from the Norwegian Wikipedia. In order to fulfil the license requirements, you should reference the original article in the edit summary or on the articles talk page. The article Knut Værnes has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:GNG

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. --IShadowed 21:12, 6 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Norwegian people

Hi there. Now that you've started to create articles on people a little more notable then we've previously discussed, and that is great. Though, translating articles from no:wiki doesn't confer notability, and these articles might be also deleted (I've seen some with questionable notabilty).

But I've came to your talk-page for a different reason, namely categories. I'm currently cleaning up the Category:Norwegian people; articles should be placed in sub-categories (e.g. Category:Norwegian footballers, Category:Norwegian politicians, Category:Norwegian musicians) instead of that one, and I noticed that you put most of your articles in that category. if we take for instance Per Mathisen, who is Norwegian, jazz musician and a jazz composer: Category:Norwegian jazz composers is a sub-category of Category:Norwegian jazz musicians, which is sub-category of Category:Norwegian people, then you would only need to put Per Mathisen in the first of those three categories. Keep up the good work! Mentoz86 (talk) 10:02, 23 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please stop over-wikilinking the articles you create. Per Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Linking#Overlinking and underlinking, you don't link dates and link the same thing multiple times in the article. Generally only do one wikilink per subject in the main article. Bgwhite (talk) 06:41, 17 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Forgot... you don't have to put the person's sort value for every category. The DEFAULTSORT value handles that. Also, you only have to a category once.Bgwhite (talk) 06:51, 17 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Ernst-Wiggo Sandbakk

Hello Knuand,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Ernst-Wiggo Sandbakk for deletion, because it seems to be an article that was previously deleted by a consensus decision.

Hi there

Just so you know: I have nothing personal against you. Following the deletion of Ernst-Wiggo Sandbakk, I think you have crossed the line regarding personal attacks, and you should stop discussion what "this arrogant footballer Mentoz86 has against me" and start discussion the case. (Norsk: Diskuterer sak og ikke person) As I tried to tell you a couple of months ago, the articles you create have dubious notability and lacks reliable sources. Having an article on no:wp does not confer notability on en:wp, and I think you should slow down the rate of article-creation, and instead add reliable sources to the articles you've already created, to prevent them getting deleted. And btw, you should really read this essay about "owning" articles. Cheers, Mentoz86 (talk) 11:10, 29 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • But read your comment and take a closer loock at the underlying lines ... "Hi there. Now that you've started to create articles on people a little more notable then we've previously discussed,...", "You know, Knuand, in English Wikipedia there are notability guidelines, and I can't find any notability guideline that Sandbakk passes. Because he don't appear to satisfy any of the 12 criteria in WP:MUSICBIO and also fails the general notability guideline.", and "When I nominated this for deletion, Sandbakk was one of two "notable" members of that band. Since then the third member of the band has also gotten an article, but I don't think that any of those musicians (except Stubø) passes any notability guideline if you disregard the exsistence of the other articles, which means that the band is not notable either." ... If your knowledge about jazz and jazz musisicians are so dobious, you should stick to subjects you know something about! Let me and my projects alone, and I will let you and your projects alone. • Note: I have found your activities on this AFD discussion to be extremely disruptive. "WP:ILIKEIT" and "Other reviewers like it" are not the same as meeting notability. Indeed, it has been noted that their other albums should probably have their articles deleted and basic content merged into the band's own article. You have also !voted twice on that AFD ... you may not do that, ever, and I have struck your second !vote. (✉→BWilkins←✎) 16:20, 3 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry about the double vote! I newer intended to vote twice - thought the discussion started over again when the entry was Relisted ... When it comes to like or not like, that has never been part of my argument! Knuand (talk) 05:15, 4 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Why are people so concerned about the vote? I thought the main thing was to "generate a more thorough discussion so a clearer consensus may be reached". That it is not mainly a vote, but a cosensus discussion! Knuand (talk) 21:25, 4 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
You're not discussing - you're trying to force your way. References and links do not belong on the AFD, they belong on the article if and only if they are reliable. You're simply flooding the AFD, making it unreadable, and arguing the same stuff again and again and again. That's not a discussion, its bullying (✉→BWilkins←✎) 22:00, 4 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, I have REMOVED your copy of the AFD discussion from this page: copying others responses without full attribution is improper. There are ways to transclude discussions, but that's NOT an appropriate use of your user talkpage (✉→BWilkins←✎) 22:03, 4 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Language nuance

I noticed that in at least one of your articles on Norwegan musicians (Thomas T. Dahl) you describe the subject as a "pedagog". I've seen other editors writing on Scandinavian musicians using similar terminology. I thought I should mention that in English pedagogue has a strongly negative connotation: a music pedagogue would be something like a teacher bashing out the beat and ensuring that the student never ever deviated from it - I'm sure that is not what you are meaning! Better to say "music teacher" or "music educator". AllyD (talk) 09:51, 8 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Potentially non-notable, I couldn't find enough stuff online in my searching to meet notability.. Seems like this may be an instance of "inherited" notability.

Musician infoboxes

I see you have been adding infoboxes to several musician articles recently. That's good, but you're also consistently making several errors. In particular:

  • Attempting to include lines that don't actually exist in the musical artist infobox (such as "field", "workplaces", and "sprouse"). If you look at {{Infobox musical artist}}, you will find a list of what information can be included in this infobox, as well as a blank form that can be easily copied and pasted.
  • Sometimes using incorrect values for the "background" line. (The one I noticed coming up several times was "temporary_instrumentalist".) A list of allowed values for "background" is also at {{Infobox musical artist}}.
  • Using the {{Flag}} template when mentioning the artist's country of birth. WP:INFOBOXFLAG explains why we don't do this.

Please bear these in mind, and try to avoid making these errors in future. — Paul A (talk) 03:40, 17 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Speedy deletion nomination of JazzKamikaze

Hello Knuand,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged JazzKamikaze for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

Flags in infoboxes

Hello, I am a little WP:WikiGnome, who goes around tidying things up.
I notice that you have been adding a lot of flag icons into infoboxes. The policy on this is WP:Manual_of_Style/Icons#Avoid_flag_icons_in_infoboxes which says that "flag icons should not be used in infoboxes, even when there is a "country", "nationality" or equivalent field".
I have removed those flags that I have found, but it would help me if you did not add any more. Thanks Arjayay (talk) 17:43, 7 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Reside

Me again I'm afraid. As well as removing flags, I also clean up spelling mistakes beginning with R.
I note you have been using the words recide and reciding, with a C; they are actually reside and residing with an S.
Despite the statement on your user page, your English is extremely good, so I hope you don't mind me pointing out this very tiny slip.

Your jazz project tags

You have changed a lot of jazz project tags in biographies to Top importance and 'A' class. 'A' class is not used by the project and is in any case indicative of an article that is close to being of Featured Article quality; see Wikipedia:WikiProject Biography/Assessment. Top importance is for people of critical importance in jazz history (as a reference, Keith Jarrett is only High). I ask that you change the importance labels to ones that are more realistic (use the table at Wikipedia:WikiProject Jazz as a guide if required), and that you change all of the 'A' class articles either back to what they were before, or to a closer match to established requirements. I don't want to undo your edits completely, as there are some useful changes there, but will if necessary to avoid having to filter out the good from the inappropriate across those 11 'A' articles. Hei Knuand. Den norske wikisiden er mer up to date: https://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_T._Dahl

It's like a full-time job correcting your new articles

Hi, please read the "Wikilinking" and "Ampersands" threads I left above.

Your overlinking and the matter of ampersands in your infoboxes (&), which go against style guides in English, are taking up a considerable portion of my editing to correct.

While we're generally easy on editors who don't know our style guides, when there's large-scale and persistent refusal to avoid these problems, it starts to become anti-social.

So ... how long do I have to waste my time doing these corrections???? It would be nice if you went back and did some of the corections yourself, actually—given my previous efforts to alert you.

Please ask me if you don't understand.

If the problem persists, I'll take further action. Tony (talk) 10:36, 20 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

**Please use the correct ending for < small >, ie < /small > (without the spaces of course). Getting it wrong with lefthand photos reduces the size of the article text. I have corrected Karin Krog and John Surman but please would you go back and sort out the rest - one is Bjørn G. Andersen though I have no idea how many others. Warning

I've had to leave several messages already on your page. It's a simple request to comply with en.WP's house style so that other editors don't have to do extra work fixing articles you're creating.

"Musician" and other common terms are not linked unless there's a special justification for doing so.

Normal nouns are not capitalised mid-sentence, as I found here.

Are you deliberately creating extra work for others? If you keep doing so, I'm going to launch a complaint against you (given the sheer number of articles you create).

Minor Edits?

Knuand, when you make edits to List of 2014 albums and List of 2015 albums, you are marking them as minor edits. However, you are adding whole new rows (new albums). By my definition, this is not a minor edit. To me, a minor edit is when a dash is replaced with a hyphen. I was wondering if it is just your style or signature to mark all your edits as minor, if you are mistakenly doing it, or if you consider any edit under 1000 added characters as minor? Per the minor edit help page, minor edits should require no reviews, but adding a new album to the album list is an action that deserves a review. Mburrell (talk) 19:48, 6 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Category renames

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you have tried to give new names to a number of categories by copying their contents and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into other categories with different names. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows categories to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

However, categories should not normally be moved without previous proposal at WP:CFR, since their names may have been chosen in accordance with an agreed plan. Please revert your recent changes so that they may be discussed. --Redrose64 (talk) 06:09, 20 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Natalie Sandtorv

The article Natalie Sandtorv has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No indication of notability. No significant coverage in reliable sources. The band itself isn't notable either.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

Nomination of Natalie Sandtorv for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Natalie Sandtorv is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Huon (talk) 02:29, 18 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Knuand! I don't know why, but I was supposedly notified at random about this 'case'. The doubt about notability is strong here, and you seem to have a hard time trying to make her notable. Although I very much doubt the notability of ever mentioning paris hilton or the kardashians here, who have obviously SEVERAL wiki-entries, and I think that the criteria should be thought over (e.g. major label??!!, charts?! (that is where all the chart tables in articles on jazz musicians come from, it's annoying AND embarassing that people seem not to get the point about jazz (and improvised music)) - But I wondered, why is there no Norwegian wiki on Sandtorv in the first place. you write she has success there according to festival reviews. - In short, maybe you could simply wait a year or so and see, if she establishes herself and makes herself (more) notable. And maybe write (or wait on) an article in Norwegian. that's just my opinion. I don't 'know' Huon, but he seems quiet determined and -honestly- at the moment it appears more like a fan page (facebook, myspace, bandcamp... and wiki) - yet;) MenkinAlRire 22:48, 19 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

2016 in Scandinavian music

Hi. I changed the Norwegian music year article to include other Scandinavian music scenes. You may not agree with this but I thought it would make a more viable article as the other countries have so little. Have a look at what I've done so far and see what you think. It can easily be undone if you object - or we could continue with two separate articles. Deb (talk) 16:21, 12 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Malika Makouf Rasmussen requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://blog.horizonvumusic.com/?p=10865. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a search with the contents of 2012 in jazz, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: 2011 in jazz. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.

It is possible that the bot was mistaken and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. CorenSearchBot (talk) 09:22, 26 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Year X in jazz

Just to point out that it's better to use something like {{Year nav topic5}} (eg. {{Year nav topic5|2006|jazz}}) instead of saying "(Go to LAST YEAR or NEXT YEAR in jazz.)" in the lede of each article. It'll automatically link to any nearby articles that exist. --McGeddon (talk) 12:08, 28 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I just noticed this message on your user page; it should be here instead. Or did you want it there? It seems strange that you wouldn't have removed it since 2013. — Sebastian 18:35, 15 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Contemporary classical composers

It seems like you started Category:Contemporary classical composers in 2013. Did you mean this as a category of composers who composed contemporary classical music? If so, there are many more articles that would fit there. There are already 1660 articles in Category:21st-century classical composers, not to speak of Category:20th-century classical composers, which has many thousands of articles, and sub-categories and sub-sub-categories.

By contrast, Category:Contemporary classical composers lists only 12 articles. This is woefully inadequate. I had thought of proposing it for deletion, but when I noticed that you're currently still active, I wanted to hear your thoughts first. — Sebastian 19:23, 15 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Famousbirthdays.com as a source

Hi Knuand. I'm in the process of removing famousbirthdays.com as a source from Wikipedia, because it's not reliable (See Wikipedia:Reliable_sources/Noticeboard/Archive_153#Is_famousbirthdays.com_a_reliable_source_for_personal_information). I noticed that you've added it, and wanted to make sure you understood why it's being removed. If you disagree, let's discuss it. Thanks. --Ronz (talk) 22:09, 7 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:British jazz tubists requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. I see that you're busy adding wikilinks to years. This is actively discouraged by the Manual of Style, because the linked to article doesn't help the reader with the article's topic. It'd be better to stop. See WP:YEARLINK. EddieHugh (talk) 20:36, 2 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Kaja Draksler requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://www.deutschlandfunk.de/jazz-live-kaja-draksler-piano-solo.748.de.html?dram:article_id=335487. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Copyright problem on Lindha Kallerdahl

Content you included in the above article appears to have been copied from and too-closely paraphrased from http://www.lindhakallerdahl.com/bio/. Your version presented the same material in the same order using almost identical wording. That's a copyright violation. For copyright reasons, the content had to be removed. Timelines

Hi, I would like to discourage you from creating any more jazz timeline articles. These articles don't offer much content. The information is available elsewhere. And some of the sites you have been using as sources can't be used as sources, such as iTunes and Discogs.com. If necessary, please read more of the documentation about finding reliable sources. iTunes can't be used because it's a retail site. Discogs.com can't be used because it relies on user-generated content. If you have these kinds of sources in other articles, please remove those sources and citations. Thank you for your assistance.

Year in Jazz lists and English sources

Let's put the readers first. The documentation does not forbid foreign language sources and links, but it does strongly encourage the use of sources in English. On some articles you have worked on, such as 2016 in jazz, you have used sources in Norwegian. Let's put the readers first. Very few readers of the English Wikipedia speak Norwegian. Very few Americans speak Norwegian. I encourage you to use English sources. If you can't find many English sources for a subject, that is probably a sign that the subject isn't notable and you should work on something else. And some of your English sources can't be used: Amazon, because it is a retail site, and Discogs.com, because it relies on user-generated content. Both can't be used a sources. I question the value of articles such as 2016 in jazz. Is this something readers want? How many readers in America do you think are interested in Norwegian jazz? Not many. Let's put the readers first.
Vmavanti (talk)

That's wrong. 1 percent of sales go to jazz and classical music. Norwegian jazz is an even smaller division of that 1 percent. Less than one percent. Please consider ending the "Year in Jazz" lists because they are not helpful.

Close paraphrasing

I've removed most of the content of Olli Soikkeli since it was a very close paraphrase of this. Thanks. Reaper Eternal (talk) 18:20, 23 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Autopatrolled status, minor edits

Hello, Knuand. It has come to my attention that some of the articles you have created, such as Olli Soikkeli, contain very close paraphrasing to copyrighted sources. I also see many messages above regarding the use of copyrighted materials on Wikipedia, so combined with this issue, I have removed your autopatrolled status. You may request reinstatement of the permission at WP:PERM once you can show to administrators there that you can create articles meeting the applicable guidelines.

Also, I noticed that you are incorrectly marking your edits as "minor". Please mark your edits as "minor" only if they are minor edits. In accordance with Help:Minor edit, a minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. Minor edits consist of things such as typographical corrections, formatting changes or rearrangement of text without modification of content. Additionally, the reversion of clear-cut vandalism and test edits may be labeled "minor". —DoRD (talk) 18:25, 23 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Bullshit

What a pack of shit! Knuand (talk) 14:03, 24 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Olli Soikkeli

This is the text I'm supposed to have copied: (Redacted) (https://internationalguitarnight.com/20th-anniversary-tour-in-2020)

My source was his website: (Redacted) (http://www.ollisoikkeli.com/bio)

My tex is not available, as it seems to me! Knuand (talk) 17:16, 26 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You just now introduced two more copyright violations that I will have to deal with. <sigh>

Blocking

Wikipedia:Blocking policy: Blocking is a serious matter. The community expects that blocks will be made with good reasons only, based upon reviewable evidence and reasonable judgment, and that all factors that support a block are subject to independent peer review if requested.

Have you tryed to read all this regulations you refear to? I have, and you have to be extreamly patient to go throug this material!

To sum up what this is all about: Stuff published on internet, are published to be read and recogniced. Using a source demandes a reference to the source. When using a sourse, the word-spelling of the source should not be to close. When you use a sitation, the spelling should be exatly the same as the sourse. In bouth cases the sourse should be citated corectly. Stuff published on internet is subjected to be used and refered! Knuand (talk) 19:42, 26 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
