Miss World 2011, the 60th edition of the Miss World pageant took place at the Earls Court Two on November 6, 2011 in London. As part of the events, the contestants also traveled to Edinburgh, Scotland between October 23 and October 27.[4]. Alexandria Mills of the United States crowned her successor Ivian Sarcos of Venezuela at the end of the event. Although over 120 delegates were expected to compete, problems regarding the timely acquisition of visas prevented several candidates from participating, thus reducing the final number to 113.
Miss World 2011 Beach Beauty Fast Track was held at Marriott Country Hall, London on October 29, 2011 along with Top Model Fast Track. The judges choose Top 36 instead of Top 20. After a further deliberation, the judges picked Top 20 finalists, the announcement was made on November 2, 2011.
Miss World 2011 Top Model Fast Track was held at Marriott Country Hall, London on October 29, 2011 along with Beach Beauty Fast Track. The announcement of Top 20 qualifiers were made 2 days after the fashion show.
Miss World 2011 Sportswoman Fast Track was announced on October 22, 2011. There are 24 contestants who selected as semifinalists which divided into 4 groups participated the Sports Final held at Crieff Hydro Hotel, Edinburgh, Scotland on October 24, 2011.[11].
Miss World 2011 Talent Fast Track was announced on October 22, 2011. There are 20 contestants who selected as semifinalists. After a further deliberation, the judges picked Top 11 finalists who competed in the final of Talent Fast Track held at The Ballroom of The Hilton Park Lane, London on October 31, 2011. On November 6, 2011 Miss World Talent 2011 Winner was announced.
Philippines placed its highest again after Evangeline Pascual also placed first runner-up in Miss World 1973.
The show implemented a new scoreboard system. The Top 30 contestants points were displayed on screen and points were added after revealing each fast-track's result.
For the first time ever the winner of each fast-track event did not advance to the semi finals, instead it only added points to the cumulative score.
England and Indonesia placed for the first time and placed their highest ever in the pageant.
Countries that were also in the semi finals last year were: Italy, Puerto Rico, Scotland, South Africa and Venezuela.
Albania: Isi Topçiu-Ulaj was appointed to represent Albania, she was the 3rd-runner up at the Miss Albania 2010 pageant.
Belarus: Anastasiya Kharlanava was appointed to represent Belarus, after no national pageant was held because the Miss Belarus pageant is a bi-annual event. It was last time held in 2010. Anastasiya was the 2nd-runner up at the Miss Belarus 2010 pageant.
Curacao: Monifa Jansen was appointed as Senorita Kòrsou World 2011 after she wasn't allowed to compete at Miss Universe 2011 because she didn't meet the age minimum requirement.
Egypt: Donia Hamed was appointed to represent Egypt after no national pageant was held due to the political crisis. Donia was previously Miss Universe Egypt 2010.
Greece: Eleni Miariti was appointed to represent Greece, after no national pageant was held due to the financial crisis. She was chosen among the group of contestants that took part of the Miss World Greece 2011 casting call held on October 8.[198]
Guatemala: Lourdes Figueroa was appointed to represent Guatemala, she was Miss Guatemala 2009 and delegate at Miss Universe 2009
Nicaragua: Darling Trujillo was appointed "Miss Mundo Nicaragua 2011" after the new national director Denis Davila, was awarded the license of Miss World in Nicaragua.
United States: Erin Cummins was appointed to represent United States by Elite Models, license holders for Miss World in the United States. Cummins works for Elite Models as a professional model.
United States Virgin Islands: Esonica Veira was appointed to represent U.S Virgin Islands, she was the 1st runner-up at the Miss Universe U.S Virgin Islands 2011 pageant.
Vietnam: Victoria Phạm Thuý Vy was appointed to represent Vietnam, she is the second runner-up of Miss Vietnam World 2010.
Replacements
Austria: Julia Hofer replaced the original winner of Miss Austria 2011 pageant, Carmen Stamboli, because Carmen was overage and didn't meet the age requirements stipulated by Miss World organization. Julia was the 1st runner-up at the national pageant.
Mauritius: Joelle Nagapen replaced Laetitia Darche due to Laetitia participation at the Miss Intercontinental 2011 pageant. Joelle was the 1st-runner up at the Miss Mauritius 2010 pageant.
