Your revert of my edit on Zoltron

[edit]

I noticed that you reverted my edit on Zoltron. NIN points to a WP:Disambiguation page and I added a piped link to Nine Inch Nails. What article do you think NIN should point to?— Rod talk 17:03, 9 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, sorry, I thought that it was a vandalism. Its good that you reverted it.

The archival was done by Lowercase sigmabot III, and this notification was delivered by Muninnbot, both automated accounts. You can opt out of future notifications by placing here on your user talk page. Muninnbot (talk) 19:02, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nominations

[edit]

Please be more cautious about SD nominations. As best I can tell, all of your SD nominations have been reverted. David notMD (talk) 15:41, 7 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please can you explain me the reason.
  • You did an A7 on Davey Whitney Complex and it was reverted minutes later. Subsequently, an editor added references.
  • You did an A1, A3, A7 on Archidemis and it was reverted minutes later. All species are considered notable. Many articles are stubs with only one references, but that is not grounds for SD. Your note to the creating editor was deleted.
  • You did an A1 on Wólka Modrzejowa and it was reverted a minute later. All centers of population are considered notable. You note to the creating editor was deleted.
Hope this helps explain. David notMD (talk) 03:00, 8 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

AfD

[edit]

Experienced editors such as Possibly often have enough experience so as to bypass AfC (Possibly has done so MANY times). This does not mean that the articles are necessarily good enough - I agree with your recent AfD nomination - but advise there is no gain in mentioning lack of AfC as a reason. My hope is that Possibly will be activated to improve this stub. David notMD (talk) 11:54, 16 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Itcouldbepossible, as a new editor please read up on these WP guidelines WP:AFD and pay close attention to WP:BEFORE in the future if you want to continue to make deletion noms. You might want to try creating content for a while, it's really enjoyable to contribute to the encyclopedia. Thank you. Netherzone (talk) 13:05, 16 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I changed my mind and voted KEEP at AfD after finding and adding a useful reference. In general, a good suggestion is to try to improve a flawed article before deciding on AfD. David notMD (talk) 16:53, 16 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

About your user page

[edit]

"I don't know how to create attractive user pages, but I hope to learn in the future." I recommend checking out Wikipedia:User page design center for some inspiration and its coding. It says it's inactive, but it still works perfectly fine. Panini!🥪 13:53, 17 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your suggestion @Panini!. I would surely check that out. Itcouldbepossible (talk) 13:54, 17 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Moving this discussion from here from Possibly's talk page, as it seems they are on a WikiBreak.

@Possibly: Hi Mr. Possibly I nominated this for deletion also because it did not go through AfC. ANd I don't think https://mocaga.org/ is a reliable source. It is clearly for promotion as clearly stated here [1]. They specifically want to place their artists in what they call 'a global context'. So that is why I thought that there must be a discussion about this page. You can also give your views in the discussion page. Have a great day and regards. Itcouldbepossible (talk) 09:38, 16 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker) Itcouldbepossible, it seems that Possibly may be on a Wiki-break right now. Highly experienced users like Possibly have permissions to bypass AfC. They are well respected for their stubs on artists that are always properly sourced. My suggestion to you is to learn more about the encyclopedia, gain more experience with how things work on WP including deletion guidelines before nominating additional articles so as not to waste the time of volunteer editors. Also, you should not be messing around with other people's templates on their user subpages uninvited as you did here: [2] and here [3]. Netherzone (talk) 12:35, 16 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Netherzone: Yes, I understand you, but he clearly stated that anyone can edit them, so I don't think there is something wrong in editing the template. And please can you explain me how you can say 'properly sourced' when an article has only 4 references, that too of websites that have been made for promotional purposes? Regards. Itcouldbepossible (talk) 12:42, 16 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Itcouldbepossible thanks for your reply. Their user page states If you have suggestions on how to improve the template, let me know on my talk page, or if you are experienced in such matters, just edit the template!; you are clearly not an experienced editor with only about 90 total edits. The courteous thing to do would have been to make suggestions on this talk page. On the other matter, the four refs substantiate the notable museum collections, and are not promotional. Netherzone (talk) 12:54, 16 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Netherzone Ok, but you see many of the articles created by this user has only 4-5 sentences in them. And each of them has been created without Afc. So is that legal considering that an article must have at least a couple of sentences to qualify for an article. Please correct me if I am saying something wrong. Regards. Itcouldbepossible (talk) 13:19, 16 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
If the subject of a short "stub" article (see WP:STUB) is notable, per our guidelines for notability (see WP:N) and the sources are reliable (see WP:RS) and verifiable (see WP:V), it's fine. So yes, even very short articles on notable subjects are permitted. The user Possibly has been here for many years and is well respected. They know what they are doing and are trusted by the community for their expertise. They have made tens of thousands of edits to the encyclopedia. Please consider creating content and making improvements to the encyclopedia before rushing in to delete articles - that's just a suggestion. Netherzone (talk) 13:24, 16 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Netherzone Ok, I take your suggestion. Actually I was a little confused about this article. I had seen many articles, that had little content in it, and got itself deleted. So I thought that a delete discussion must be started on this article. That is why, I did not send it for speedy deletion. I am also confused, about which sources are reliable and which are not. Some articles had many sources, but got deleted because they did not have reliable sources. So that's why I had made an XFD page for this article. Ok, but now I have made this mistake, what is to be done now. Please close the delete discussion, and remove the delete tag from the article. Tell me if I can help in any way. Waiting for your valuable reply. Regards. Itcouldbepossible (talk) 05:08, 17 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

(Moved discussion here)

Why the rush to delete articles? It's fine to want to keep junk or promotional spam articles off of the encyclopedia, but even very short articles are permitted if the subject is notable per our policies and guidelines. I saw from your contributions that immediately after joining you added Twinkle and started marking things for Speedy Deletion, PROD or Deletion. Did you ever edit here before using a different username? I'm curious why, and how you even figured out how to do that - it took me a few years learn how basic things like notability WP:N, verifiability WP:V, reliable sources WP:RS work; and a long time to understand the policies and guidelines for the encyclopedia WP:PG. I'd suggest you study those four links carefully. Then try improving articles and even try creating an article - but I suggest taking the tutorial first.

It's great that you want to remove junk or promo from the encyclopedia, and fight vandalism, but first learn what is an is not vandalism. See WP:VANDAL. It is also good you are asking questions at the Teahouse, that's the right place to go for help!

As to the AfD for Linda Anderson (artist), if you read about the AfD Process WP:AFD you will see that delete discussions usually are closed 7 days after they are posted by an unconnected administrator. So just let the process play out naturally. It would be wrong to simply remove the tag because that does not comply with the process. Take things slowly, study, learn, and remember, being a Wikipedia editor is not a race or a competition.

Reliable sources WP:RS are things like major newspapers (not blogs or fan sites, or social media); academic journals, reliable websites (like museums; but not personal websites or websites that sell things like AppleMusic or Amazon). Hope that helps. Netherzone (talk) 13:56, 17 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@NetherzoneNo actually you know one thing. I have a friend who has been editing Wikipedia for a couple of years. It is on his request that I am not giving out his username. He told me things like Twinkle and other Gadgets, and inspired me about Wikipedia. Then I created an account. If you still don't believe me, then you can obviously raise a sockpuppet investigation, though I assure you that I am completely new to Wikipedia. And thanks a bunch for giving the links to all the important articles on Wikipedia. You know one thing, I have already requested for all the important Wiki pages. You can see that in my talk page. I am also thinking of creating a Wikipedia article, but am not sure where and how to start, I am especially confused about WP:RS. I had asked @Bonadea about suggestions. You can see the conversation on his talk page. If you can help me out in that matter, then please do so in my talk page. I really thank you a lot for showing your eagerness in helping me. Thanks a lot. Regards. Yours respectfully. Itcouldbepossible (talk) 14:13, 17 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
You are welcome, and good luck and happy editing. Netherzone (talk) 14:26, 17 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

"Thread archived" notifications - anything wrong with them?

[edit]

Hi! I am the maintainer of Muninnbot who leaves these "your thread has been archived" notifications. You recently posted on the Teahouse asking how to find the link to the archive. As I replied there, the notifications actually contain wikilinks to the correct archive sections.

Clearly, if you did not see that wikilink to the archive, other people will miss it, too. I would like to improve the template so that it does not happen again. Would you be so kind as to give me some feedback about the notification?

For reference, here is a permanent link to one such notification. If you already know something you would like to see improved, great, tell me! Otherwise here are a few question prompts:

  1. What happened when you saw the notification for the first time? (Did you read it entirely, felt angry about it, felt interested, whatever?) What about the second (and third) time?
  2. Why do you think you missed the wikilink? For instance it could be that
    1. it is in a part of the notification that you did not read
    2. it is not visible (short link, bad color contrast, etc.)
    3. it is visible, but it is not clear that it is a link and not just a random colored word
    4. you are not aware of what a wikilink is

Just to be entirely clear, the more bad things you can say about the notification, the better it is for me to improve, even if those things look unimportant or impossible to fix to you. I am not looking for an answer of the type "sorry, I was sleepy, I should have seen the link" because even if that is true, good design should not make it easy to miss the link when the reader is sleepy. TigraanClick here for my talk page ("private" contact) 14:32, 17 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Tigraan Hi and thank you for worrying yourself so much in such a small matter. It means a lot for me. Your design is really nice, but as you said in option 2, it has a bad contrast, and it is quite easy to overlook it. Yes I know what a wiki link is. It is a clickable link, that redirects to the article page. I just said all these because you said that you want to improve. Actually you see, the notification that your bot left on my talk page, it had many Wiki links. So I overlooked it because you see all the links are blue in colour, so I thought it to be another Wiki page. But now I saw it. Anyway, it was my mistake, but see if you can make the background of the notification more prominent. I would really be delighted if you would take my suggestion, as it would not only help me but also other Wikipedia user. Thank you for bothering yourself so much. Regards. Itcouldbepossible (talk) 14:46, 17 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
OK, so the bad contrast is a thing, but from your post I also gather that there are too many links in the notification and this might contribute to the important bit being lost. I will try to improve that.
Thanks a bunch for the feedback! I am not a designer / user experience person at all, so trial and error is really all I can do. It is really hard to get feedback, because on the one hand experienced users have an easy time understanding the notification even if something is wrong with it (they know what archival is etc.) and on the other hand new users would not know where to ask/complain if they fail to understand the notification. That is why I "jumped on you".
In my opinion it is not such a small matter - maybe it is not very important to you personally, but the bot is leaving around 400 notifications per month (when it is working), so the impact of a small improvement is multiplied by a big number of users reading a notification. Help

[edit]

Respected @Yamla, can you please tell me why I am blocked. I have no relation with DasSoumik. And before confirming about sockpuppetry, why am I blocked. I see that a checkuser has been requested, then why is no one confirming the same. I see that you are also a checkuser, then please check my account. I don't like being blocked just for nothing. I hope you would look into the matter. Regards. Itcouldbepossible (talk) 07:37, 21 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Moreover @Yamla, all the things that are being written on the investigation page, is being written by @Amkgp, a sock. He thinks me of being a sock of DasSoumik, and I am not a sock or meatpuppet. He is doing all this, because he was blocked, and this clearly states violence against people, whom he thinks is behind the cause behind his block. So please block that sock indefinitely before he does or says anything wrong. And please also look into my matter. Should I raise an Unblock Request in the UTRS system??? If you say 'yes' then only I will do it. Please guide me in this matter. Regards. Itcouldbepossible (talk) 14:08, 21 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Yamla @Blablubbs What is happening with me is really unfair. First I get blocked for for being thought to be a sockpuppet, which should not be the case. No one can block me before I am confirmed sockpuppet. Secondly, I cannot defend myself in anyway, except to write here. And its really funny that the sockpuppet investigation request has been raised by another sockpuppet of @Amkgp, and still the administrators are keeping their eyes closed. Though it is wholly a wrong guess of being a sock of @DasSoumik, he is actually showing revenge against another user whom he thinks to be a sock of his enemy, and he is doing all this because his high profile Wiki account got disabled for editing logged out. My question is, on the first hand, why is the administrators or spi clerks accepting a checkuser request from a sockpuppet?? And secondly, even if it has been accepted, then why is no spi clerk bothering to investigate. And in the midst of all this, I am being blocked, just for nothing. Neither can I defend myself on the sockpuppet investigation page, nor can edit in Wikipedia. And I am sure for one thing, that if I say too much revolting things, then my talk page access will be revoked. But this should not be the case. Everyone here should have same value and priority - administrator and new users are thought to be the same. Then why is that not happening in my case. Please, I beg everyone in Wikipedia, and also those who are watching this talk page, and every user with checkuser rights, I am not telling you to unblock me just like that, but I am telling you, please please follow the legal way of checking the user, confirm everything that you can, and please unblock me. Please. I hope that everyone would respond to this pleas of help. Regards to everyone. Itcouldbepossible (talk) 13:09, 22 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Testing Draft Script moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Testing Draft Script, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Editing articles?

[edit]

A very, very high percentage of your edits are not in the pursuit of improving articles. Rather, much of it is Teahouse, your Talk, other editors Talk pages... Early on, your dove into Speedy deletions and AfDs. I've seen that you have also deleted content from articles wherein adding a Citation needed could better serve. Please consider a bit more focus on improving existing articles. David notMD (talk) 11:07, 25 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@David notMD What should I do then, how should I improve existing articles??? I don't know have knowledge on most of the content in other articles. I always like maintenance work. Can you please tell me, how I can also add content to other articles?? Itcouldbepossible (talk) 12:59, 25 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
If your comfort zone is maintenance, stick with that. I would still suggest avoiding deletion (Speedy, or AfD nominations) for a while. If you wish to become more familiar with AfD's you could follow existing AfD's, and then start participating (Keep, Delete, Comment), to see if your thinknig aligns with other AFD participants. David notMD (talk) 16:14, 25 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@David notMD Ok thanks, at the very beginning I thought that I would send things for deletion if I don't like them, but I was wholly wrong. Many corrected my mistake, and said not to send for deletion unnecessarily. But what you are saying is long back. I had sent two articles for deletion, because one was created by a sock (at that time, I did not know that articles created before a user is identified to be a sock does not fall for deletion) and the second I had send for deletion, because there was very little content in that. (I later came to know that size of content does not matter, if it is supported by reliable sources, then it is good to be an article). But which AFDs are you talking about??? All these things happened long back. From then I did not send any other article for CSD or AFD, except some of my test articles which I created to test the movetodraft script by Evad37, and some redirects which automatically got themselves nominated for R2 deletion criteria. So what articles are you talking about??? Could you be a little more clear. Itcouldbepossible (talk) 03:25, 26 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Indian Births has been nominated for deletion

[edit]

Category:Indian Births has been nominated for deletion. A discussion is taking place to decide whether this proposal complies with the categorization guidelines. If you would like to participate in the discussion, you are invited to add your comments at the category's entry on the categories for discussion page. Thank you. —SpacemanSpiff 06:55, 27 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@SpacemanSpiff Why, am I doing something wrong. I am categorizing all the people who are born in India, can you explain what I am doing wrong. Itcouldbepossible (talk) 07:40, 27 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
    • If you can't understand the purpose of categories, then you shouldn't be creating them. People have tried to help you out, but you refuse to listen and are just wasting other people's time, finding new ways every time. —SpacemanSpiff 07:42, 27 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@SpacemanSpiff How am I wasting time? I understand the purpose if categories, but what I am telling is that why will my category not serve a purpose. And how did I refuse to listen to them?? I am following what people are saying, then in which way am I wrong? Please tell me. Itcouldbepossible (talk) 07:51, 27 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
      • As David notMD said above "A very, very high percentage of your edits are not in the pursuit of improving articles." (corrected quote at 12:58, 27 November 2021 (UTC)). Now if before creating this absurd category, if you had read our policies on categorization, you'd know why this makes zero sense and is an unwanted waste of other editors' time and effort. You can't expect people to tell you at every task what to do and what not to do. This is a collaborative encyclopaedia relying on volunteers, if you can't respect that by going through our policies and guidelines, then this is not the place for you. I don't buy this innocent act right now, you seem to be perfectly capable of learning things here if you want to. —SpacemanSpiff 08:09, 27 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, Itcouldbepossible,
I saw your response to your category being nominated for deletion and there is one thing I wanted to explain to you. Wikipedia has existed for 20 years. I believe there are around 2 million categories. If you think of a category, it probably already exists or it doesn't fit into the existing Wikipedia category structure. For example, Wikipedia doesn't classify people by where they are born but by what their nationality is.
Most newly created categories have to do with new events, like elections or the Olympic games, things that didn't exist before this year. If you are creating an article and want to add categories, look for existing ones that would be appropriate. One tool that can help is Wikipedia:HotCat which will suggest existing categories. Please do not go overboard with it, like any tool, it requires judicious use.
Your enthusiasm is great but, again, Wikipedia has been around for 20 years and over that long time, it has created policies and processes that have helped it become one of the biggest websites. While we always need new articles on notable subjects, do not try to do things in a way that conflicts with the way things work here. That takes a while to learn (sometimes years!) so go slow and be patient. Good luck. Liz Read! Talk! 01:48, 29 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hello @Liz. Thanks for your suggestion. Actually I did not know that such a category existed, and also I did not know that people are sorted according to where they become notable and not where they are born. So it was my mistake to create such a category. You may delete the category. Thanks and Regards. Itcouldbepossible (talk) 03:58, 2 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Liz Yes I sorted using HotCat, but I just copy pasted my category name to the search bar of the HotCat category search and then pressed enter, and then it automatically inserted the category to the page. Anyway thanks for guiding me. Itcouldbepossible (talk) 03:59, 2 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at Marcus Satterfield, you may be blocked from editing. Schazjmd (talk) 15:29, 1 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I took a look at your contributions, and I don't believe that you intended to vandalize the article. But please take a look at the diff you restored. You reverted an IP editor who was removing vandalism from a BLP. Please be more aware of the content you're restoring when you revert another editor. Schazjmd (talk) 15:45, 1 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Schazjmd Oh, I am really sorry. I revert a huge amount of vandalism, that is why I sometimes tend to make mistakes. Yes thanks for telling me. It was indeed a mistake from my side, but I did not really want to vandalize the article. But please don't select the auto warning while warning people. Because see I had already got 2 warnings and this is my third warning, and all the warnings were merely because I reverted a wrong edition of an article. Please give me a general note, as people will think me to be a criminal and soon an administrator will block me for my disruptive editing. I hope you understand my position. Regards. Itcouldbepossible (talk) 03:34, 2 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I have reverted this edit since it was not an error/vandalism but is used to bold headers. Be careful next time. Happy editing. 2402:3A80:6EA:A3C2:8C2A:C25B:359E:B54 (talk) 10:55, 2 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Why don't you get trained in vandalism if you love to do it. Visit WP:CVUA. I also corrected at one of your files File:Kudumbavilakku TV show poster.jpg. Never use " I will use", "My article" for files description etc. because in Wikipedia you are never an owner as per WP:OWNERSHIP policy. Please note, I am a random IP editor who came by your edits while updating some articles. 2402:3A80:6EA:A3C2:8C2A:C25B:359E:B54 (talk) 11:05, 2 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@ Hey anyway thanks, but I already know WP:CVUA. And thanks for correcting my edit in Shree Krishna Bhakto Meera. I thought that a ';' was a vandalism, I never knew it was used for bolding headers. Also thanks for correcting my description in Kudumbavilakku poster.
But two things you said here are not true. First of all you are not a random IP editor who came by my edits while updating some articles. I am noticing from a few days that you are following me or seeing what I am doing, or in simple terms, you are keeping an eye on me, my talk page, and my contributions, obviously which is not an offense. I saw that you had also written your review in the category deletion of the category which I had created. I am just rectifying what you are saying, so that when other editors come to my talk page, they don't get confused. So what you said was not correct.
And secondly, you are also not a random IP editor, you are actually an extremely experienced user, or rather @Amkgp in disguise. You have been blocked for being a sockpuppet, so you editing anonymously. I know by the first 16 bits of your IPV6 address (2402:3A80). Anyway, that is not my problem, whoever you are. You are helping me and guiding me, and I like that. If you disturb me, disrupt my editing, or do anything that I don't like, then I am surely going to take steps against you and report you to WP:ANI. But if you are doing good to me, and helping me, then you don't have anything to worry, I will regard you as my friend then. So you are good to go then. Happy anonymous editing then. Begona Maestre moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Begona Maestre, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. bonadea contributions talk 08:23, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add machine translated text to mainspace. If you want to base an article on a machine translation of another text, you must revise it thoroughly before moving it to article space. It is almost always much more difficult to create an idiomatic English text by using a machine translation, but that is up to you; just be aware that you are creating extra difficulties for yourself! And finally, a translation of a Wikipedia article in another language has to be attributed. Help:Translation has more information. --bonadea contributions talk 08:34, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Bonadea Why do you say that is machine translated? I know and understand almost 7 international language other than Bengali, Hindi and English. Itcouldbepossible (Talk) (Contributions) (Log) 08:40, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Bonadea And ok, I forgot to attribute it. Thanks for saying. Itcouldbepossible (Talk) (Contributions) (Log) 08:41, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Bonadea. I did not create this article. I just translated it from the Spanish Wikipedia. So then how can I find references on that article?? Itcouldbepossible (Talk) (Contributions) (Log) 08:37, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Itcouldbepossible: The actor needs to meet English Wikipedia's notability guidelines to be included here. You will need to cite reliable sources to support her inclusion, though they don't all have to be in English. I see that her article in Spanish Wikipedia also has a warning about needing more reliable sources. If you can't find reliable sources, then I'm afraid she may not get an article here. The English translation in your draft does also need quite a bit of polishing and tidying up. ClaudineChionh (talkcontribs) 08:51, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@ClaudineChionh Thanks for your suggestions. Itcouldbepossible (Talk) (Contributions) (Log) 08:52, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • You know what, I'm done putting up with this. This was nothing more than a dump of machine translated text. As I said before, you're just making everyone waste their volunteer hours on here by having to clean up your messes. Any further disruption and you will be blocked. Although, if someone else thinks enough is enough and you should be blocked now, that's fine by me too. —SpacemanSpiff 08:49, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@SpacemanSpiff Ok, so what type of edits do you want me to make. When I created a category, you proved that what I have done was wrong. I accepted that. Now when I translated an article, you are saying that is machine translated, and you are telling me I am disrupting. Even if I accept that, could you possibly tell me, what kind of edits, you want me to make?? See I am not insulting you, I am just telling you to tell me more clearly, what you want to say, as what you are saying is not clear to me. Why will I waste editors volunteer hours and what do you mean by 'mess'. Many articles, are sent to draft, and my case was also the same. So why do you think that I would be wasting hours. I just pressed publish in the Content Translation tool, and it created a page. I did not create it on my own. Itcouldbepossible (Talk) (Contributions) (Log) 09:00, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I just pressed publish in the Content Translation tool, and it created a page. That means that you did not translate the article, and that you did create it. You are responsible for the content and the text you add in article space. The Content Translation tool is a tool. It does not create a text that is acceptable for article space, and it doesn't create articles. The actual translation and article creation is the responsibility of the editor who presses "Publish". --bonadea contributions talk 09:08, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Bonadea I first translated the article, then pressed publish. I just did not press "Publish" just like that. Itcouldbepossible (Talk) (Contributions) (Log) 09:10, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
You pressed publish, you created the page, and you have to take responsibility for it. Slow down, really slow down, and learn what the community expects from a mainspace article. Read Content assessment and read lots of Stub- and Start-class articles as examples of new articles that can stay. ClaudineChionh (talkcontribs) 09:08, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Copyediting

[edit]

Hi Itcouldbepossible, thank you for wanting to help out with the many poorly written articles in Wikipedia. Unfortunately, even though you are clearly trying to copyedit in order to improve articles, the copyedits you have made don't always make the articles any better.

  1. Here, you made several changes: you changed "oligarch" to "Oligarch" which is against the manual of style (common nouns should not have capital letters), "31 March 2014" to "the 31 of March 2014" which is also against the MOS (and the date style "31 March 2014" is correct and does not need to be changed), and you also added a grammar error to a correctly written sentence ("Russian oligarch Evgeny Lebedev" is correct, "Russian oligarch and Evgeny Lebedev" is incorrect – it is one person, Evgeny Lebedev, who is an oligarch from Russia).
  2. Here, you copyedited an article that had a lot of incorrect grammar. It was almost certainly a machine translation from Russian, which should not have been accepted as an article back when it was created, since it was almost impossible to understand. Copyediting such an article can be difficult because it is not enough to make minor changes to individual words or sentences. You tried your best, but the change from "on the territory of Buchenwald (the largest concentration camp) flashes armed insurrection organized by international forces prisoners themselves" to "on the territory of Buchenwald (the largest concentration camp) flashed armed insurrection organized by international forces prisoners themselves" did not improve the text at all, because the original machine translation was so very poor. You cleaned up some of the phrasing in the sentences about torture and starvation in the camps, but changing "forced to work at the same time to exhaustion" into "forced to work at the same time until they were exhausted" changed one correct phrasing (work to exhaustion) to another grammatically correct but less idiomatic phrasing, while leaving the actual problem in place; another edit in the same sentence, "was performed over them the terrible medical experiments" which you changed to "terrible medical tests were performed on them", fixed a grammar problem (good!) but the tone is not ideal, and "terrible medical tests" is not quite idiomatic.
  3. This edit is more mixed; the "Early life and education" section, which was basically just a list of schools and degrees, is better presented as prose, so I agree with your intentions there. In some ways the section is improved – but you need to proof-read it again, to remove stray words, fix missing spaces, and other minor issues. A slightly less minor issue: avoid over-using the expression "the year X". For instance, "from the year 1932 to 1936" is slightly awkward, and "in 1950" is just as correct as "in the year 1950". Not saying that "in the year X" is wrong, but it comes across as repetitive. To say that he "went forward to continue his education" is not idiomatic English – the previous phrasing, "continued his education", is absolutely fine. Further down, the previous text had "Also, he directed Plays for the Kumasi cultural center", which you changed to "He directed many plays for the Kumasi Cultural Center". Were you able to verify that in the source? I can't see that that source has any information about him, or about the Kumasi center, but I only see a limited preview of the book. Still, I wonder if the original "he directed" didn't actually refer to the fact that he was the Director of the center, since he was a politician and not a theatre director. He might also have directed individual plays, but I can't find any sources supporting that. The next sentence, which included the text "...acquisition of land [...] for the construction of the center and allowances to finance projects", you changed to "...and allowances required to finance projects", and I have to admit that I don't understand the original nor the new phrasing. The source says "and their sitting allowances on that same day for the cultural centre project to kick-start", which is also pretty hard to understand.

These are some of the things I noticed. Apologies for the wall of text, but I wanted to be as clear and specific as possible. The thing is, when someone copyedits a text, the edit is not all that helpful if other editors have to make new copyedits to fix errors introduced by the first copyediting! We all make minor errors from time to time, even when copyediting, but when every edit that tries to fix language errors actually adds new errors, it is a bit problematic. --bonadea contributions talk 13:18, 7 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Bonadea I am really mesmerized by you. What talent! You took so much time to see and analyze my mistakes, and thanks for telling me all those. And I don't care about "a wall of text". You may write as much as you want, if I make mistakes, and you wanna correct them. Really I am spellbound. A huge amount of text, correcting my mistakes! You also cited each and every sentence that I changed. And, for one reason I like you among any other reasons is that, you don't 'bite the newcomers'. Any other who could have come across my edits, could have said, its too much, or you must be blocked or learn how to copy edit before you make another of your useless edits, or you are disrupting Wikipedia. But you also thanked me for trying to copyedit.
Now to get to the errors I made. I will address my errors according to the numbering you used.
1.I admit my mistake here. I sometime when come across text like "12 March 1985", it triggers my brain. Because normally I am not acquainted with such text. So, I automatically change to "12 of March, 1985". But, I will keep in mind these points, and remember that there is a manual of style to edit Wikipedia.
2. I got sort of crazy, when I saw such a page full of grammatical errors. So, I tried to change the grammar, but it was hard for me to understand also. I never knew it would be a machine translation. Anyway thanks for telling me. It was terrible correcting such a page.
3. I also got a little puzzled with this page. Like you said, it was also like a prose to me. So, I tried to change things. I had no other way than be repetitive with the phrase "in the year Y". I had to be repetitive, but I admit my mistake. I also admit my idiomatic mistakes. And the thing about source is that, I was "copy editing", I did not bother about verifying the sources. And the phrase " acquisition of land for the construction of the center and allowances to finance projects", I also did not understand it very much. So, I changed it to "allowances required to finance projects", which is again wrong. As I see it now, it should be written as "allowances required to fund the project".
And I also apologize for taking so much time, to reply to such an important and valuable message by such an important Wikipedia, who spent so much time to correct me. Yes, I admit the very fact, that copyediting is useless, if someone else has to correct the changes that I made. So that is why I always kept the edit summary as "tried copyediting".
Overall, thanks again for analyzing the mistakes, and telling me. And I again clarify "a wall of text" is no issue - you can write as much text as you want, everything is allowed if you want to help me and guide me.
I would also be highly obliged if you give me some suggestions regarding copyediting, so that next time I make a copyedit, it is not full of errors. Regards. Itcouldbepossible (Talk) (Contributions) (Log) 06:26, 9 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Itcouldbepossible: In addition to Bonadea's detailed advice, I'll make a suggestion that expands on one I've given you before: Slow down. If you are not sure how to copy-edit certain passages, leave them until you have familiarised yourself with those particular style issues, or leave them for another editor to look at. In addition, to become a great Wikipedia copy-editor, you will need to get to know the Manual of Style very well – don't try to read it all in one sitting, but think of it as the essential reference and resource when copy-editing Wikipedia articles. Finally, our writing and editing can always be improved by deeper and wider reading. Read as much as you can across a wide range of genres and different styles of English, and where Wikipedia is concerned, read a wide selection of Featured and Good articles to get a better sense of the standard that we would (in a perfect world) want every article to reach. ClaudineChionh (talkcontribs) 09:34, 9 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@ClaudineChionh But, I cannot "slow down". Some say "don't go into deleting articles", some say "do and learn how to do maintenance work before trying anything else". Some people say, that my anti - vandalism work is not good. Then what am I gonna do? Yes, I know that I am going to fast, but then what to do. I don't remember who, but someone told me to do some thing to improve wikipedia, and not disrupt. But anyway, I admit that I am going to fast, and am making mistakes, but I am equally helpless. Itcouldbepossible (Talk) (Contributions) (Log) 14:57, 9 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Itcouldbepossible: We give you all this advice because we want to maintain the integrity of Wikipedia and help you become the best Wikipedia editor you can be. And becoming a better editor will take years. What can you do? Do less. Spend more time reading and observing and less time doing. (This may be good advice for life in general, not just Wikipedia.) Spend more time on your other hobbies and interests, because a wide range of interests is healthy. If you continue to rush headlong into editing, keep making mistakes, and ignore the advice you have been given, other editors will run out of patience and goodwill and you could be blocked again. ClaudineChionh (talkcontribs) 21:28, 9 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Claudine, I am not telling you stop giving me advices, and I also never said that I would not listen to you. Because that is not possible for me, not listening to experienced editors like you is obviously like killing myself. I know that you are helping me to become the best Wikipedia editor, and I know that can take years. And, I am not ignoring any advice that is being given. I always try to follow every advice that is being given to me. For example, you will see from my contributions, that there were three articles that had problems, if I had not listened to the advice, then I would have sent them for CSD, but instead I started a discussion in the article's talk page. Nick Moyes once said to give credit whenever I copy something from somewhere. And from then on, I give credit and also cite the page from where I copied the text, in the edit summary. So these instances suggest that I listen to the advices that are being given. ― Itcouldbepossible Talk LogContribs 05:49, 10 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Worm That Turned Why? Is it wrong to ask how those good editors died, I was just asking the cause. Itcouldbepossible (Talk) (Contributions) (Log) 02:28, 8 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ok itcouldbepossible, I'll answer "why", if you can answer me these questions first.
  1. How did you come to find, and select, these two specific deceased wikipedians out of all the recent deaths?
  2. How did you come to choose those two individuals to ask about the deceased wikipedians?

And again. Please stop doing that. You might not understand why it is inappropriate to ask these questions, but you need to recognise the fact that it is inappropriate. --bonadea contributions talk 16:12, 23 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Your signature

[edit]

Please change your current signature, as the current signature hides your identity and it fails the Wikipedia signature policy described at WP:CUSTOMSIG/P. Thanks 2402:3A80:6CA:8D9A:D0DF:C98B:144C:E23E (talk) 15:09, 7 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for noting the thing, I have changed my signature. Itcouldbepossible (Talk) (Contributions) (Log) 02:28, 8 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Further, on this, per WP:CUSTOMSIG/P - You may not have "Complicated signatures contain a lot of code ("markup") that is revealed in the edit window, and can take up unnecessary amounts of narrative space, which can make both reading and editing harder." As a rule of thumb, if it does not fit into your preferences box, then it is too long - you should not be substituting you signature. Your new signature takes up 3 lines of wikicode, and is far too long. WormTT(talk) 09:06, 10 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Worm That Turned See I did not make it on my own, and I also did not know about substituting. I learnt it from @Levi Op. ― Itcouldbepossible Talk LogContribs 09:08, 10 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I've already messaged him there, too. The limit is there for a good reason, you are now adding half a kilobyte every time you sign, and making pages longer, and making people scroll further. WormTT(talk) 09:15, 10 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Worm That Turned Yes, I understand. So what is to be done. Should I change my signature to as it was? ― Itcouldbepossible Talk LogContribs 09:17, 10 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Itcouldbepossible: Continuing the discussion from Helmut Leherb here as it's off-topic for that article ... It's partly a personal preference, but I'm not a fan of busy and colourful signatures as I find them distracting. (That's what the advice about "complicated signatures" is trying to say.) I also (speaking just for myself) think it's not a great idea to just copy someone else's code or ask someone else to make a signature for you. You will learn so much more by figuring out how to do it yourself. Don't forget that you have a sandbox where you can experiment with wiki syntax. ClaudineChionh (talkcontribs) 09:21, 10 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@ClaudineChionh Yes, I know that, but I heard that @Levi OP creates signatures, that is why I asked him. ― Itcouldbepossible Talk LogContribs 09:23, 10 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I see that Worm has brought up the issue with Levi. ClaudineChionh (talkcontribs) 09:27, 10 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@ClaudineChionhok lets see what the solution turns up as ― Itcouldbepossible Talk LogContribs 09:28, 10 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Creating a signature should be a small part of what happens here, it should be something that is useful to help you spot your username on a page and is unique enough to help people remember you, whilst also not being distracting. I've had long discussions with new users about this in the past, but put simply, it should certainly stay below the 255 characters. WormTT(talk) 10:07, 10 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
As a quick question, why do you want so much stuff in your sig? Why do you want a link to your contributions or log, for example? Do you need a gradient colours? WormTT(talk) 10:08, 10 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

with a minimal bit of tweaking, I've taken your sig to ― <b style="background:linear-gradient(45deg,#f05,#b49);border:2px solid #000;padding:2px;color:#ef4;">Itcouldbepossible</b>Talk LogContribs, which would render as ― ItcouldbepossibleTalk LogContribs, that's a lot closer to reasonable! WormTT(talk) 10:28, 10 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Worm That Turned Well, the signature that you made is really nice. Ok, I think I don't need logs and contributions, so I am removing them. ― Itcouldbepossible Talk LogContribs 14:01, 10 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The current colors in your signature give me a headache, are hard to read (especially "could"), and are immensely distracting. Please stick to 3 colors at most and try and make the foreground and background colors different in brightness to each other so as to improve clarity. Just because you like the gradient or whatnot doesn't mean you should have an annoying signature. Santacruz Please ping me! 18:16, 12 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@A. C. Santacruz Please tell those to @Levi OP, it is he who has made my signature. ― Itcouldbepossible Talk 05:17, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Itcouldbepossible, can I remind you that you are responsible for every edit you make, you are responsible for your signature. You are responsible for your decisions. It is down to you to make sure you adhere to the community norms. Whilst Levi OP can help you with making a signature, you are the one responsible for it, and if someone is raising good faith concerns (such as accessibility, you need to deal with them, not just point them elsewhere. WormTT(talk) 10:25, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Worm That Turned Ok, but I told him to tell the concern to him, since I am not acquainted in making signatures, or even changing its appearance. I am not blaming him for anything. Ok, I think your signature would make my username clear. Ok, and I must also deal with problems like accessibility myself, without involving anyone else. Thanks for letting me know this fact. ― ItcouldbepossibleTalk 12:44, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

User talk pages

[edit]

Regarding this edit, users are allowed to remove messages, including warnings, from their own talk page. Moreover, it is inappropriate to falsely accuse someone of vandalism, and especially with a level 4 warning. Even if vandalism occurs, don't begin with a level 4. Wikipedia has a system of graduated warning levels. Please read WP:VAND for information about what is not considered vandalism, and please read WP:WARNVAND for appropriate ways to issue warnings.

Additionally, don't carpet bomb someone, even a vandal, with numerous warnings, as you did here. Leave one warning for a particular type of infraction (such as vandalism), but don't leave additional warnings unless the infractions continue after the first warning. Sundayclose (talk) 02:53, 9 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Sundayclose I knew the fact that users can remove messages from talk page, but did not know that warnings could be removed. I thought if warnings are removed, then how will users know if he or she is has vandalized during the past. And the idea of removing warning templates from the talk page is beyond imagination for me. That is why I gave a last level warning.
For the second case, I had to warn the user for each edit they made. At a point of time came, when I had to issue a level 4 warnings only, since he was still vandalizing even after level 4 warning. "don't leave additional warnings unless the infractions continue after the first warning" - I did not leave unnecessarily. First Tyler Burden issued the level 2 and level 3 warning. Then I had to issue level 4 warning because he continued his activities. I don't see I did that intentionally. He vandalized Ethiad Airways so I issued a level 4 warning, but he also vandalized Oxford Properties, and further. So I had to issue level 4 warnings.
Can you clarify my mistake here. Itcouldbepossible (Talk) (Contributions) (Log) 08:02, 9 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for responding to my message. Regarding the second case, I accept your good faith, but it's pointless and often counterproductive to issue numerous final warnings. Issue one warning, and then if it continues report at WP:AIV or WP:ANI. Regarding the first case, there was no vandalism, thus no warning was merited. As for jumping immediately to a level 4, even if there was vandalism, you start with level one even if something is beyond your imagination. The escalating system of warnings is widely approved by the Wikipedia community and shouldn't be circumvented because of our personal preferences. There are a few exceptions (such as serious WP:BLP violations), but it's best not to even give those kinds of warnings until you get more experience. I hope you don't mind my making a friendly suggestion: Slow down. You've edited a couple of months. For most of us, that's not enough experience to be so bold as some of your edits and warnings. You've received several comments about problems, and although some of those may have been unwarranted (I'm really not sure), it does indicate that your edits are attracting a lot of attention, and not always in a good way. Wikipedia will be here for a very long time. You have plenty of time to look around and learn how this place functions. There's no rush for you to make bold edits or hunt down vandals. I'm not saying you're acting in bad faith. But I think you and most other editors will enjoy being here if you start slowly and gradually become more bold with more experience. Just a suggestion. Have a great day! Sundayclose (talk) 16:47, 9 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Sundayclose Yes, I accept my mistake in case 1, but somewhere (I cannot link the diff), someone said to issue level 4 vandalism, when I seeked a block for someone, and the reason for not accepting the block was, "inappropriate warning issued". But ok, I accept what you say. And I reported the user to WP:ANI here.
I won't mind your friendly suggestions. Yes I know that I am going fast. Ok, I am trying to slow done. Trying to slow done. Really slow...slow. ― Itcouldbepossible Talk LogContribs 06:00, 10 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Itcouldbepossible: A wiki is a category of software that predates Wikipedia, though Wikipedia is probably the most famous wiki. Wikimedia doesn't "own" the word wiki, so I'm not inclined to worry about this username at this stage. ClaudineChionh (talkcontribs) 11:05, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@ClaudineChionh Thanks for clearing my doubt. ― ItcouldbepossibleTalk 12:47, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@ClaudineChionh But, the username contains the word 'wiki' which is prohibited here, I suppose. Please correct me, if I saying something wrong. ― ItcouldbepossibleTalk 12:49, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Itcouldbepossible: Do you mean this? Usernames including phrases such as "wikipedia", "wikimedia", "wiktionary", "(WMF)", or similar if they give the incorrect impression that the account may be officially affiliated with the Wikimedia Foundation or one of its projects.
As I said above, "wiki" (just those four letters) is a broad category and the Wikimedia Foundation does not own this word.
Or did you mean something else? ClaudineChionh (talkcontribs) 12:55, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@ClaudineChionh No, I meant the statement, that you quoted above. Thanks. ― ItcouldbepossibleTalk 13:14, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@ClaudineChionh And one more thing is that, can you please tell me, why I cannot add the reason with the template. When I try to attach the reason, it comes out like this. Can you please explain me what is going wrong. ― ItcouldbepossibleTalk 13:16, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
What went wrong was that you had invalid syntax. You had an opening pair of brackets , but not the corresponding closing brackets . --David Biddulph (talk) 14:05, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
. Thanks, it looks like this now. It will be like

Welcome to Wikipedia. New articles

[edit]

The possible articles you can contribute will depend on what your interests are. However, I can suggest certain areas. There is a dearth of good articles on economics, finance, industry topics and even those that are there are very sketchy. Wikipedia needs good biographies on great people in the past, as well as upcoming politicians. While colleges in West Bengal are well covered, there is a big shortage on schools, particularly Bengali-medium higher secondary schools. Even in areas where there seems to be plenty of articles, there are gaps that need to be filled. Then there are specialised articles, as for example, River bank Erosion along the Hooghly River. The main problem is getting proper references. Quite often, the availability of references decide what one can work on. Census operations have published in 2011, a handbook for each district in the conutry. You can get them here. Some districts have human development reports, all of them are gold mines of information. You can get them here]. I hope this helps you a little. Cheers. - Chandan Guha (talk) 13:09, 15 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Chandan Guha Thanks...but it is still tough to decide what article to create. ― ItcouldbepossibleTalk 13:19, 15 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Chandan Guha Ok thanks, can I create articles on stations ― ItcouldbepossibleTalk 13:52, 15 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Definitely, yes. Railway stations are popular but there are big gaps. Be sure to add references. For the 'history' reference you can look into the related railway line page. Check whether the reference is properly working. Cheers. - Chandan Guha (talk) 14:36, 15 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Spelling

[edit]

I saw this edit of yours at the Teahouse. "Check" is not an incorrect spelling, it's one of those words spelled differently in different varieties of English. Also, editing other people's posts to correct their spelling - even at the Teahouse, where rules are a bit more relaxed about altering talk page posts - is not a good idea. RfA

[edit]

ICBP, asking this kind of thing at RfA isn't helpful, and it's actually the kind of thing that makes you look clueless to experienced editors. There's some advice at Wikipedia:Should you ask a question at RfA?. —valereee (talk) 18:21, 25 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry Valereee. I did not know this thing. I never participated in a RFA before. Actually I am burning to know the tips to become an administrator, though I very well know that it would take me at least 15 years to become one, because Wikipedia has changed. If it would have been the beginning of Wikipedia, then it would have been easy. But now, there are many good and competing editors out here, which makes adminship tough. I don't remember who, but someone is there who has only 15 edits and is the administrator. He states that he had been chosen as the administrator by Jimbo Wales, and at the time that he was chosen, there was no RFA. So that was kind of easy. Anyway, but I always like some advice from administrators, and administrators to be (though the RFA has not passed). Anyway, that is why I had asked the question. And thanks for linking me to the information page. ― ItcouldbepossibleTalk 04:03, 26 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
ICBP, here is advice for beginners: Wikipedia:Really simple guide to requests for adminship. The best tip I can give you is do the work. Learn to edit, create some articles and take them to WP:GOODARTICLE. It doesn't require fifteen years, but it does require considerable maturity and understanding of how Wikipedia works, and I don't think you've got that yet. If you have questions, ask at WP:Teahouse. —valereee (talk) 09:54, 26 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Valereee. Yes I know that I am new, and I don't have much skills. Leave alone admin ship, I am waiting, when I will be qualified to become a rollbacker. ― ItcouldbepossibleTalk 10:59, 26 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Don't bother to ask me again??

[edit]

On the most recent Teahouse, you have told a couple of users things like "I hope you know how to do it. If not, please don't bother to ask me again." Some of these users sound like newbies.

I'm "just" a casual reader of Teahouse and the Help desk, but to me, saying this comes off as very rude. You are willing to give one, single piece of advice, but you are declaring that you will not help any more. Is that what you meant to say? Just wondering. Thanks. 73.127.147.187 (talk) 10:47, 29 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Followup: Or did you mean "don't hesitate to ask me again", which means "yes, you can ask me again". That is the opposite of "don't bother to ask me again". Thanks for listening. 73.127.147.187 (talk) 10:51, 29 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker)@Bonadea and Nick Moyes: Please have a look here, if you can help here. It looks like ICBP is not confident enough here with their answers at Teahouse. 2402:3A80:6F3:3CC4:1A31:6469:323E:CFE6 (talk) 11:29, 29 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I am confident this is a very unfortunate language error, in which "hesitate" should have been used instead of "bother". Examples:
  • If not, please don't bother to ask me again. = go away, I couldn't care less, and I don't want to hear from you ever again (which I am sure was not the intention) and...
  • If not, please don't hesitate to ask me again. = feel free to follow up with any further questions, as I'm only too willing to assist you.
I'm sure ICBP will be mortified when they consider how this may have unintentionally been interpreted. I will just say that I could not engage with any user in a second language, and have been embarrassed in the past by my own accidental language errors when attempting to use schoolboy French and German. Nick Moyes (talk) 12:11, 29 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
PS: I've left a note of apology on the user's talk page, so ICBP really doesn't need to add anything there unless they really wish to. Cheers, Nick Moyes (talk) 12:37, 29 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Nick Moyes and everyone who wrote to me. Thanks a lot for bringing this issue to my talk page. It is best to clear these things, before they make a bad impression of me.
Well, as to what 2402:3A80:6F3:3CC4:1A31:6469:323E:CFE6 (AMKGP) said, it is really a very unfortunate language error. I would probably kill myself before I mean "don't you dare bother me again". No obviously not. I know what it meant by "please don't bother to ask me again". It means that I am warning the user not to bother me again with his questions.
I actually meant, "don't bother yourself to ask me again if you come across any trouble", or "yes, you can ask me again" or "please don't hesitate to ask me again". He is a completely new user, and I cannot tell him not to ask questions again. Never! I am really really sorry, for creating such a confusion among editors, and other people. I can never insult or talk to anyone rudely here. You can also verify that from my past replies and my talk page, if you have got enough time.
And, I did not want to elaborate the usage of Twinkle there, since he already knew about tags, and I thought that he might also know how to add tags. So, I said "I hope you know how to do it. If not, please don't bother to ask me again.", which I actually wanted to mean, "If you don't know how to add tags using Twinkle, don't bother yourself to ask me again."
And Nick, I really don't have words to thank you. You put up apologizes for my mistake at the user's talk page. I can never imagine administrators like you, apologizing on behalf of editors like me. Really this means a lot to me. And obviously I am going to say my apologizes. I cannot possibly sit back and watch, while an administrator apologizes for my mistake.
And just to make the atmosphere less tense, a bit of fun cannot go a miss: -
To each and every editor,
Please don't bother yourself/hesitate to put up questions, concerns or advice up on my talk page. My talk page is always open for everyone. Thanks again, every user who brought this issue to my talk page. Regards. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 12:57, 29 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Not to worry, my friend. We knew you didn't mean anything wrong by it! TBH (=to be honest): I would not actually use the phrase "bother yourself" at all, as it still doesn't quite carry the right meaning in my view. It carries what I might call 'pointed sarcasm'. For example "don't bother yourself to call round my house" might imply you clearly believe the other person is extremely lazy, even though you had hoped they might call by your house. The nuances of any language can be a nightmare, and the better one is at speaking a language, the harder it gets for someone else to spot an unintentional error. If English is your second language then, bl**dy hell, you're doing brilliantly, as it's so hard to tell. Have a great New Year, everyone. Nick Moyes (talk) 13:11, 29 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Nick Moyes Well, thanks for your example. I really admit that "bother yourself" can create trouble, unless it is used cautiously, so it is best to avoid it. And well Nick, to correct what you said, English is not really my 2nd language. In our country, that is India, we have our first language as Hindi, which is our national language. Then we have the language we speak as the second language, which in my case is Bengali, and finally we have English as our third language, which we learn, so that if in future we go abroad for studies, or for job purposes, we don't freak ourselves, in front of the foreigner. So, it turns up that English is actually my third language. And I am really lucky, that I can write and understand it so well, and people cannot imagine that it would ever be my third language.
PS:- Please don't mind this question. But what did you actually mean by I will just say that I could not engage with any user in a second language? Did you mean that you do want to engage with a user whose second language is English, or did you mean that your second language is English? And if my latter assumption is correct, would you mind telling me what your first language is? I always thought that English was your first language, seeing your adept at using t he language. Again please don't mind this question. It is totally optional. You may answer it, if you wish. Regards. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 13:38, 29 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
People who teach foreign languages, and researchers on language acquisition/learning, will often use the term "ESL", meaning "English as a second language", even if it is the third and fourth language an individual learns. (More information, maybe more than you wanted to know, here :-) ) --bonadea contributions talk 14:17, 29 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I'd just like to say that I agree with Nick Moyes; I know that you, Itcouldbepossible, is a polite and courteous individual, and I recognise this particular mixup between "bother" and "hesitate" (from teaching English as a second/foreign language for many years). But if I hadn't known that, I would have misunderstood you in the same way that the IP did. As Nick says, don't worry – we all make mistakes of different kinds, sometimes because we misunderstand a Wikipedia guideline, sometimes because we pick the wrong word, and sometimes because we say things that are not quite appropriate in the situation. Learning from such mistakes is the important thing. Regards, --bonadea contributions talk 14:11, 29 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Well, ICBP, I am even more impressed if English is your third language! I am ashamed at being British right now (but that's a political/Brexit thing) though I have long been ashamed of how we as English-speakers expect everyone else to speak our language when we go abroad, but can't be bothered to try to learn any other, ourselves. You asked what I meant by I will just say that I could not engage with any user in a second language: I do understand a tiny amount of French, German and Spanish - but only enough to go on holiday there, be polite to people by saying 'hello' and buying the basic items I need, or maybe book a campsite. But my conversational and written skills in both languages is pathetically small, even though I've taken evening classes in two of them. I know two words of Sinhalese to ask you what your name is, and can say 'welcome' in Malay - and that's it! Oh, and I know all the names of the letters of the Greek alphabet, but cannot read any actual words. Truly pathetic - so my point is that you put people like me to shame. My daughter is trying to teach herself Korean at the moment, and to write Japanese hiragna characters. Yet, here am I - reasonably fluent in my native tongue - but have only ever created one article in a foreign language (here), and could never, ever help out as you do here if I had to use a 2nd/3rd language. You should not feel under any pressure by me saying this, but I do sometimes find it helping seeing users who have put what their 1st, 2nd and 3rd etc languages are on their userpages, just as it's occasionally helpful to know if someone is a professor of maths, an art historian and music lover or a mildly autistic airplane enthusiast as these sometimes help one understand someone's reasoning for editing in the way they do. The benefits of declaring what languages you do speak is that people might remember your abilities and call on you for help from time to time in this wonderfully multi-cultural Project. Cheers Nick Moyes (talk) 15:41, 29 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Nick Moyes Well, I agree with you Nick. Its really hard to learn other languages that are not widely spoken in the country. And it really gave me goosebumps seeing that you know so many foreign languages, while I have still not been able to learn my regional languages well, though I accept that India is said to be the biggest diversity, and has many languages, so it is quite tough to learn them. And wow! I never knew that you a daughter. Thanks for this additional knowledge.
And for the last part...I think you are talking about putting language infoboxes. Can you tell me where I can find them? I have seen many users have them on their userpages, but now I cannot find them, or else I would have their script. Regards. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 06:58, 30 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Bonadea Well thanks for letting me know about ESL. From the very beginning, I had a guess, that you were very knowledgeable by seeing your edits and community discussions. And, yes, I have learnt from this mistake and also from my past mistakes, as I hope it will reflect from my contributions. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 05:50, 30 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hello! I'm the new user whose question was responded to. Thank you all very much for your prompt clarification and concern! I figured Itcouldbepossible meant "hesitate" instead of "bother", especially considering all the other helpful and kind responses they have posted. Thank you also @Nick Moyes and @Itcouldbepossible for posting on my talk page to clarify -- I feel very welcomed! I will absolutely reach out with questions about Twinkle if I have trouble figuring it out.RDvor (talk) 21:39, 29 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Well thanks RDvor. I am really sorry, that the thing I wrote could have meant wrong. And yes, as I stated previously, the Teahouse and my talk page, both are open to you and editors like you. So ever if you fall in any kind of trouble please let us know. Thanks. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 07:48, 30 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Oh my god. Bonadea you gave me barnstar! Am I dreaming? If it is true, then thanks a lot!! Regards. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 10:51, 30 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Certainly it's true :-) Happy ending (that's my weird and clumsy translation into English of a Swedish phrase, which we use on the last few days of the year) and Happy New Year 2022! --bonadea contributions talk 11:32, 30 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Bonadea Well, I did not get it. Can you please tell me clearly, what you want to tell me? ItcouldbepossibleTalk 11:46, 30 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry I was not clear! First, because you said "If this is true" I wanted to confirm that it is. Secondly, I wanted to wish you a happy new year. The "happy ending" part was just a bit of silliness. In my native language (Swedish), we don't say "Happy new year" before the first of January. On December 29, 30, and 31 we use another expression, which could be translated as "Happy ending". But saying that in English just sounds weird. I hope that made it a little more clear! --bonadea contributions talk 11:59, 30 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Bonadea Oh well, now it seems clear. Thanks for taking the time to explain it to me. And an additional thanks for letting me know that you are a Swedish. I always love to know about my fellow editors. Happy New Year in advance to you too. Thanks. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 12:03, 30 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Blocking

[edit]

You've put a block notice in an IP's talk page. But only administrators have the right of blocking any user or IP. So it won't come to any use. Thank you. Shinnosuke15, 09:25, 5 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Itcouldbepossible, to add to the above, remove both "User:Enterprisey/revert-and-block.js" and "User:MusikAnimal/responseHelper" from your script list. The two are useful only to admins. Hemantha (talk) 10:59, 5 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Query

[edit]

Hi, Itcouldbepossible. Did you accept any form of payment to create Draft:Shreema Bhattacharjee or any other draft/article? It's very important that you answer honestly. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she/they) 14:00, 9 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Well Tamzin, I swear on Jesus, that I have not accepted any form of payment to create the draft. In fact I did not edit for money, and I hate WP:UPE. I had just created the draft, and had later forgotten about it. But it appears that it may be WP:TOOSOON to make an article regarding her.
Now, I have answered you honestly, now would you please tell me why you wanted to know this fact? What made you think that such a thing could happen? Any problem that I can assist you in? I would really love to do so. Regards. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 15:18, 9 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) Tamzin Interesting fact to be noted that many of the drafts mentioned under User:Itcouldbepossible#Drafts_that_I_can_improve are started by editors who have been proven to be involved in sockpuppetry and/or are WP:PAID/WP:COI by media houses. Thus, Itcouldbepossible, it is important that you disclose if have been paid/sponsored by any media houses/talent management firms to create pages in Wikipedia. 2402:3A80:137B:A850:F449:1CBE:67FE:A33A (talk) 15:42, 9 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, to make this clear, let me tell you that though it true that most of the creators of those drafts have been involved in many misdeeds as Wikipedia, but I am in no way having any conflict of interest with any of those drafts. To speak the truth, I have no conflict of interest, except the Mohun Bagan Football Team, and because of this COI, I do not even look at that page leave alone editing. I sometimes like promoting the team on social media through posts, but this is Wikipedia, and promotion is not allowed here. So, I don't even look think of promoting the football team. So is really necessary to disclose that COI on my user page. If needed, then I can obviously do it. It is best to be crystal clear in everything, to avoid any doubt. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 05:42, 10 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
And, let me tell you how I found all those drafts. I am interested in Bengali TV series, films, and actors and actress. Now, "interested" does not mean "conflict of interest". People can be interested in many things, but that need not mean that I also have COI of the subject. But currently, I am focusing only on Bengali Tv series, and actors and actress. Creating articles about films is really tough. Lot of reliable sources needed.
To get those drafts, I searched with random keywords like "bengali actor", "bengali model" "indian bengali model" "bengali actress", "bengali daily soap", "bengali TV series" "bengali romantic", "bengali comedy", and so on. I also modified my search to seach for these words only in the draft space. Then, it gave a huge list of things, and I spent a couple of hours to make a shorter, and clear list out of the large raw list. So, I hope, I have cleared every thing, and also the secret behind finding all those drafts. And moreover, I don't see any problem with adding drafts created by sockpuppets, or WP:PAID editors. People don't own anything here, isn't it? No one can say "that belongs to me". So, there should not be any problem with editing or adding problematic drafts to a list. Thanks. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 05:50, 10 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Well I'll be honest with you about why I asked this, Itcouldbepossible. I just had a long talk with a woman who claimed to be Ms. Bhattacharjee, who insisted that she had paid someone to create that draft and who wanted to know why it wasn't in mainspace. Obviously I can't prove that she was telling the truth—it could be an elaborate troll, or she could have paid someone who failed to deliver, and then you coincidentally created the page—but I hope you can see why I'm concerned. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she/they) 21:15, 9 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Well, Tamzin, they had tried to be really clever. But it would not have worked for me. First of, Ms. Bhattacharjee is an actress and a model, who I don't think has any knowledge about Wikipedia, though I accept that this is a big project, and people are supposed to at least know about it. Well, even if she knows about Wikipedia, it would be really awkward, if they also knew about you. Then, I have to accept the fact that she is also a wikipedian, and that too, has gone through many discussions, has seen SPI cases, or to say in short, has been on Wikipedia for really a long time!!! , which is really not possible as far as I think, because in a few news interviews, she has said that she is really busy, and it has also happened, that she did not even have time to spend time on social media.
So, lets leave all these. Moreover, why you? Though, I regard you as a very capable editor and problem solver, but it is really unlikely that she also knows this fact.
Now, let me tell you, what I think. This actress, she is quite famous, not because she has done many shows, its sort of what you call "internet famous". So, many want an article on Wikipedia regarding her. So, many are trying to play the fool, claiming themselves to be her. And moreover, how do you know that the person with whom you were was a woman specifically? And my second thought is that, she could have paid someone to create a page for her, and the person who was paid, must have failed in the task. And now they are telling their client, to tell you, or ask you why the page in not in mainspace yet, or it could even be the same person who had been payed for creating the article, creating sock accounts and asking you stuff. Well, but the fact that I had created the draft merely is a coincidence with this event. And I have not accepted any payment from her, and more specifically, I have only seen here on TV and social media, and thats all. No face to face meeting.
PS: Whoever, is playing this game, may also want to put me in trouble, like they might tell you that they have told me specifically to create the draft or article. But, please know that it is false. But even, I cannot make you believe me, which is fine from your part. Why will you believe me, and not the other person? What special am I here?
So, now a suggestion from you... Should I stop working on the draft, and seek CSD? If you insist, then I have no problem doing so. Atleast in that way, I can prove that I have not accepted any payment. Waiting eagerly for your suggestion. Thanks and Regards. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 06:15, 10 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your reply, ICBP. To clarify, the person claiming to be Ms. Bhattacharjee came to #wikipedia-en-help connect, rather than contacting me directly or knowing much of anything about Wikipedia. So it's not implausible that it's her. But absolutely, I have no way to verify that that person is who they said they are, and know way to verify that you're who she was referring to as the person she'd paid. (She offered to pay me to review the article! Then cursed me out when I said no. That was amusing.) As to the rest, your points are reasonable, and I will take your word for it. It's up to you whether to G7 the draft. Googling her, it looks like she might actually be notable, perhaps more so than some articles I've seen about Indian actors and actresses. If you plan to keep working on it, then that's up to you. If you don't plan to, though, deleting it might be a good way for us to spot a UPE, if someone recreates it not long after. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she/they) 06:30, 10 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) @Itcouldbepossible and Tamzin: There has been instances in past where TV actress themselves have paid people to create wikipedia pages even failing WP:NACTOR. See Special:MobileDiff/1025201559 Thus, Tamzin and ICBP both of your concerns stands justified here. 2402:3A80:6DF:E366:7C83:4157:55F2:CA8C (talk) 06:43, 10 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I see, that it was a complicated piece of SPI case, and many editors were revealed in the scam. And, I was also once accused in the same case, though I think it was proved wrong. Anyway, I accept the fact, there editors sometimes charge money for creating Wikipedia pages. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 07:41, 10 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The same paid editor has also tried to create Draft:Shreema Bhattacharyajee in the past most probably in return of money from Ms. Bhattacharya. 2402:3A80:6DF:E366:7C83:4157:55F2:CA8C (talk) 06:48, 10 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Tamzin Yes, Draft:Shreema Bhattacharjee can be created as she seems to pass WP:NACTOR and WP:GNG as Google search suggest she has performed in numerous TV series. But the article should never be created on basis of money. They should be created on her merit and notability in Wikipedia2402:3A80:6DF:E366:7C83:4157:55F2:CA8C (talk) 07:07, 10 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I have thought that I will improve the draft, and I would really love, if you assist me in doing so. Thanks. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 07:50, 10 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, could be, because the article, Annwesha Hazra, that the user, and his socks created was mainly promotional content, as I can see from the web.archive.com version. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 07:46, 10 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Tamzin Well, thanks for clarifying it. I also think the same, not only considering here Instagram and Facebook fans, but seeing her acting career. So, I think it is best to develop the draft into an article. And considering the fact that there was a chat on IRC, I don't think that it was she herself, as IRC is a far fetched matter of Wikipedia, and someone doesn't know about it just like that. So, things can be quite understood, I hope. Thanks. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 07:38, 10 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) Please note that we do not consider notability based on Instagram, Facebook followers or YouTube subscribers on Wikipedia. Also, there are numerous examples where people pay money themselves or through their managers to get an Wikipedia article. So, I think your assumption is wrong that an actress can never create article/ pay themselves. There are numerous sites like for example UpWork where such deals take place. I think @Tamzin: will agree with above. Also, ICMB please visit WP:CHAT to understand what does IRC serve in Wikipedia. 2402:3A80:6DF:E366:7C83:4157:55F2:CA8C (talk) 07:54, 10 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback

[edit]

Hi Itcouldbepossible. After reviewing your request, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when using rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into trouble or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. A questionable rollback

[edit]

Greetings,

normally this kind of content isn't considered to be rollback-worthy spam, doubly so when it's in an userspace sandbox of an established editor. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 19:35, 12 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Jo-Jo Eumerus Oops, I am really sorry. Actually, it was my first RCP revert, and I did not quite understand what had happened. I know saying these now might look like an excuse, specifically when I am a rollbacker now. But see, I still consider myself new, and I am really really sorry that I have edited your user space. Yes, I very well know that userspaces or sandboxes are not to be edited without the owner's explicit permissions, but that was a mistake, and I did not quite understand what I had done. I am really sorry. Please forgive me this time. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 05:01, 13 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Jo-Jo Eumerus I always try to make good faith edits, but sometimes, there are mistakes from my part, so sorry. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 05:02, 13 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Um, it wasn't my userspace you rolled back with your edit? Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 11:23, 13 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Jo-Jo Eumerus I actually copied the reply I had given to User:Aoba47, and forgot to modify the reply that I had sent you. So there, things get revealed now, which I had actually tried avoiding. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 12:39, 13 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) @Itcouldbepossible: To avoid such mistakes, try to follow what is written at WP:ROLLBACKUSE 2402:3A80:1A4A:7B3E:C0C0:C3A5:DCEF:FE55 (talk) 05:22, 13 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Tip

[edit]

When reverting vandalism, you really don't need to give them a level 1 warning, or 4 consecutive ones before reporting. – AssumeGoodWraith (talk | contribs) 06:05, 13 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@AssumeGoodWraith I don't quite understand you. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 06:06, 13 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@AssumeGoodWraith Can you be a little more clear? If I report without giving all warning, once an admin said that all 4 warnings are to be given before reporting to WP:AIV to give to give time to stop disruptive editing before reporting. Thats all. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 06:24, 13 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Most of the time, actual vandals can be reported after 2-3 warnings and warnings can start up at 3. Maybe it's down to whatever admin is reviewing the AIV reports. I personally haven't given 4 consecutive warnings since I first joined. – AssumeGoodWraith (talk | contribs) 06:29, 13 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@AssumeGoodWraith Please see this. We are supposed to always start with level 1 warnings, except in cases where there is a serious WP:BLP. So, it would not be right to give level 3 vandalism warnings at the very beginning. And if you are talking about giving another level 4 warnings where one already exists, which I remember doing here, then you are right. I forgot that one level 4 warning was already there. I was also busy reverting the huge number of vandalism that was taking place at the same time.
I use reply link to reply and there is a ping button to ping others, so I don't have to write so much. I just click the username, and the ping is automatically generated. Why? Doesn't the ping reach you? I remember someone also telling me how to ping properly. Is it that my pings doesn't reach you? ItcouldbepossibleTalk 07:53, 13 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I was raised differently on the wiki, I guess.
Didn't know there was a ping button. I thought you either edited the page or used discussion tools. – AssumeGoodWraith (talk | contribs) 08:31, 13 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@AssumeGoodWraith Oh yes, I do that only. I thought that the reply option that turns up after comments is called "reply link". Yes, I use that only, and there is a button that look like a black user type man with a plus on his head on the top right side. I use that to ping others. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 08:43, 13 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Also, you can ping easier with this template: Itcouldbepossible which produces @Itcouldbepossible:

Advice

[edit]

Hi. Thanks for your question. You said "But could you change the type of salt to extended confirmed users." I understand your point of view so I will explain. I made it admins only because I don't think that there will ever be an article about this person unless it's created by someone with a conflict of interest. Getting extended confirmed permission is not so difficult that it couldn't be achieved by such a person. However, anyone who genuinely wants to create a good article will be able to find an admin who can lift the protection; in fact, they would probably come to me and I would consider lifting it. Also, any such person can still create a draft article on the topic. I judge each such case on its merits, and in this case I felt that maximum protection was necessary. I am always one click away from reverting the vandalism. I also got a blocked notice from some IP. God knows who. But that should not stop you from writing on my talk page, since your edits are always good faith. I give you full permission to write on my talk page, regardless of how many vandals come here. You always help me, guide me, and what not. I can get into serious trouble, if you don't guide me, since I don't know all that happened before I started my editing career. Just like that Draft:Ayan thing. I would not have known about it, if you would not have told me. So nothing should stop you from writing or commenting here. I don't care about LTAs and vandals disrupting the page. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 06:06, 21 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Super Mario's Wacky Worlds

[edit]

Hey, I saw the bit of going back and forth on Super Mario's Wacky Worlds, but the IP was trying to revert vandalism introduced by Peytonweth. The old revision mentions that the game was released on the "Nintendo Aardvark" which is a hoax and claims that the game was a success. The IP even mentioned in the edit summary that no source was given for any of the information he deleted, which you reverted. I don't know what's going on between you two, but please remember to assume good faith before you hastily revert. --ThomasO1989 (talk) 02:30, 21 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@ThomasO1989 But see this. Previous to my revert someone already reverted the edit made by 97.71.19.167. After a couple of edits, again the text was added by Fragrant Peony. So twice since it happened, and no objection was raised about the reverts, I thought that the removal of text was vandalism. That is why I reverted it. Please share your views. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 05:57, 21 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, but I think this brings up the point that the edits in question should actually be reviewed instead of blindly reverted. --ThomasO1989 (talk) 19:35, 21 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Communicating in languages other than English

[edit]

Hi Itcouldbepossible, it's great that you are reaching out to new editors whose English is not very strong. Could I ask you to include an English translation (not a machine translation) every time you post in Hindi or some other language? If some other editor would like to contribute to the discussion at Talk:Sarsop, it's almost impossible to do so unless there is a reliable translation of the previous discussion. In the Teahouse it's actually really important to answer questions in English, because it is such a high-visibility page. If new editors think it's OK to ask or answer questions in languages other than English, it will eventually lead to some good-faith English-speaking editor producing an incomprehensible or misleading or insulting reply in a language they don't know. So the ideal situation is when someone like yourself, who speaks English and Hindi, can provide a response in both languages and, importantly, tell the editor who asked the question that they do need to communicate in English. If somebody's English proficiency is too weak to carry out a basic conversation on a talk page, their time would be better used by editing the Wikipedia version in a language they have a better command of. --bonadea contributions talk 10:44, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Bonadea I am really really sorry Bonadea for the late reply. I agree with what you say, but the long reply that I left at Talk:Sarsop#Help, it would be really difficult to translate the whole thing to English, won't it be? For small discussions, I can obviously provide a translation, but for huge discussions, leaving a translation would really be tough. Please please reply to this message and tell me what is to be done. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 04:48, 31 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

That is all that I can suggest to you at this moment. Thanks. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 16:46, 29 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Itcouldbepossible, i've noticed you have moved the articles to the draftspace section, in order to delete them. Since the articles are related to event that are happening right now, and they are supported by independent sources, these are not a valid criteria for deletion. Please review WP:CSD.

Madenry Yes but I moved the articles to draftspace because they had large tables with no data. Then when the user moved the pages back to mainspace again, I CSD ed those. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 08:50, 1 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Bots Newsletter, January 2022
BRFA activity by month

Welcome to the ninth issue of the English Wikipedia's Bots Newsletter, your source for all things bot. Vicious bot-on-bot edit warring... superseded tasks... policy proposals... these stories, and more, are brought to you by Wikipedia's most distinguished newsletter about bots.

After a long hiatus between August 2019 and December 2021, there's quite a bit of ground to cover. Due to the vastness, I decided in December to split the coverage up into a few installments that covered six months each. Some people thought this was a good idea, since covering an entire year in a single issue would make it unmanageably large. Others thought this was stupid, since they were getting talk page messages about crap from almost three years ago. Ultimately, the question of whether each issue covers six months or a year is only relevant for a couple more of them, and then the problem will be behind us forever.

Of course, you can also look on the bright side – we are making progress, and this issue will only be about crap from almost two years ago. Today we will pick up where we left off in December, and go through the first half of 2020.

Overall
In the first half of 2020, there were 71 BRFAs. Of these, Green checkmarkY 59 were approved, and 12 were unsuccessful (with Dark red X symbolN2 8 denied, Blue question mark? 2 withdrawn, and Expired 2 expired).

  • Will Citation bot ever be set free to roam the project?
  • What's the deal with all those book links that InternetArchiveBot is adding to articles?
  • Should we keep using Gerrit for MediaWiki?
  • What if we had a day for bots to make cosmetic edits?

My edits

[edit]

Sorry if my reverts looked disruptive, all I did was adding the official language of Montenegro (Montenegrin) and some user reverted them in favour of Serbian language (Note: These is a "dispute" between Montenegro and Serbia about the language). And what I did was basically the same thing what that user did since he/she didn't get reverted, but I did. 2A02:587:E20B:1800:9DC1:813:944A:540E (talk) 09:08, 1 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I am really sorry for creating such a confusion. But to you I want to say, please establish a consensus before you make same type of edits to a number of pages. Secondly there is a huge amount of vandalism that is going on, by various IP ranges that are adding random text strings to random articles. 'huge amounts' means huge. Really huge. More than you can ever imagine. So when you, a good faith user was making edits to a large number of pages, I thought it to be vandalism. Because the previously stated vandal user also changed languages on multiple pages. You can either make the edits again, and I am not going to revert it again. And secondly, you can create an user account to edit pages to avoid confusion. Because the large amount of vandalism that took place was from IPs. So it is best to create an account to avoid such confusions. Thanks. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 09:14, 1 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hey it's me again with a different IP since my other one got blocked.

There's no need to apologize since this is partly my fault. The reason for why I established a consensus beside "rv" it's because I'm editing on mobile and it's the worst experience you can imagine lol and it took hours for me to do all those reverts (also the other editor didn't establish an much different consensus so I thought I was "fine"). Also in my other "account" all the other edits non-related to Montenegro got reverted even tho I had established an consensus which is a shame since I made some improvements and updated info (from the sources). Well I got the attention of three editors, blocked my IP and had all my edits reverted even those non related to Montenegro, but the worst I was blocked from messaging other editors which gives me no option to communicate and "isolates" me, meanwhile the other editor gets nothing. It feels.... weird :( and it's kinda impossible for me (even if I made an acc) to reverse all those edits and not getting banned again. Can you help me please? Also I won't be editing (besides here) until my block runs out.

Side note: holy sh*t I barely wrote this since it's lagging a lot haha. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:587:E209:B900:9DC1:813:944A:540E (talk) 03:46, 2 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Respected 2A02:587:E209
I understand your position. Since you edited a large number of pages without establishing a consensus, EvergreenFir did a mass rollback, and by doing so all your non Montenegro edits also got reverted. And I also don't really understand what is going on. First an IP adds a language, who supports Serbian language to many pages, and then you revert it back, which I from my small experience, think were made in good faith. As far as I think, pages related to Montenegro should have Montenegrin as the language and not Serbian. Though I don't really have much knowledge about foreign languages. Maybe Serbian is the main language at Montenegrin. I don't know anything. Really sorry for having so less knowledge. But with my common sense I think pages related to Montenegro should have Montenegrin as the language, and not Serbian, again if Serbian is not a superior language than the former, or maybe Montenegrin is the second language. I also cannot verify which edit is correct, since the pages you edited and the pages the first IP edited, are all quite new. As far as I see from the edit history of some pages, the IP introduced the 'language parameter' (I don't really know what that thing is called which adds the spelling of the word in that language), and then your reverted the reverts and put into Serbian. Ok, so put it simply, I don't have much knowledge about this. So please forgive me regarding this.
Now for your second question, the edits gets reverted when some editor notices it. When the first IP made edits, it could be possible that no editor noticed that edit, or else though that they were good faith edits. But then the big vandalism scam took place, in which many random IP ranges added random strings like "WHAT IS UP UP UP!? ADOPT ME RULES! (And Roblox)". Blocking did not help as the IP ranges were huge and highly dynamic. And on top of that the vandal or group of vandals had many ISPs as well. The vandalism went on for hours. Anti vandalism users and administrator became very active. And that was when you also made a large number of edits, and your edits were tagged as "Non-autoconfirmed user rapidly reverting edits", and that is why your edits attracted so much attention. And so all your edits got reverted as it seemed to be vandalism, and also the editing pattern of yours were quite similar to the vandal - editing large number of pages rapidly and changing a parameter or adding random strings of text. I also pinged Evergreen, your blocking administrator, if he would like to say something. I clearly understand your position. Such accusations are really bad. But you also have to understand our position.
So for the time being, I don't think that I have anything to do, or in anyway help you, since I like you am totally helpless. Your previous IP block is only for 31 hours, after the block expires, then you can explain matters using pings. And finally but not the least, my talk page is always open to you an every editor. Feel free to write to me whenever necessary. I will try my best to help you. Incase I cannot do so (since you might know that I am currently a new user, and don't have much experience), then I might as an experienced user to help. Thanks and regards. 2402:3A80:1C46:D09C:3926:B13B:5ADE:6A75, you should log into your regular account instead of jumping around from IP account to IP account. If you are blocked, you should submit an unblock request. Right now, you are drawing a lot of attention to yourself which could result in a rangeblock if it's discovered you are evading a block. Liz Read! Talk! 04:41, 6 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

A barnstar for you!

The Anti-Vandalism Barnstar
For your work on anti-vandalism. Keep up the good work. Rlink2 (talk) 14:05, 5 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Rlink2 Oh ! I am so glad that you have given me a barnstar. This is the third anti - vandalism barnstar that I am receiving. I wonder how you came across my anti vandalism work. Would you please throw some light on that. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 02:41, 7 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
When someone does something, people tend to notice it. For example, many people, and I assume that includes you, have seen my work to regarding archiving and bare ref fixing. I hope you like that too. Rlink2 (talk) 03:01, 7 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Rlink2 Yeah sure. I love your bare ref fixing job. And its true that I have seen you on many page histories while reverting vandalism. You are really famous here. But did you just give me a barnstar based only on one place that you see me, or on multiple other places have you seen me. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 03:30, 7 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I've seen you on multiple pages, I think. Yeah, you could say "famous", some like me, but some don't. But I try my best to please as many people as possible. Your work is important too, vandalism is very bad, and its good we have people like you dealing with it. Rlink2 (talk) 03:40, 7 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Rlink2 And also, how do you find pages that have bare urls? I would love to help you in your venture. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 03:31, 7 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Well, there is already a bot going to take care of the bare URLs, so we'll see how that goes.
You can always help out with the archiving stuff though. There are alot of dead links and links that need to be preemptively archived. One way you can help is that whenever you are making a new draft/article, be sure to archive all the refs with web.archive.org, archive.today, or ghostarchive.org. That way, if the link dies, we have an archivedcopy at one of those sites. Many experienced article creators have been doing this, and I think that if everyone did it, it would make WP a lot better. Rlink2 (talk) 03:39, 7 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Rlink2 Ok, but then how can I cite an archived version of a link? ItcouldbepossibleTalk 03:41, 7 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
There are some good instructions on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citing_sources#Preventing_and_repairing_dead_links and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Archiving_a_source . Let me know if you have any questions. Rlink2 (talk) 03:49, 7 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Rlink2 Ok, thanks for your help. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 03:51, 7 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Recent rollback

[edit]

Hi Itcouldbepossible, was going through the pending changes backlog and noticed your rollback here reverting an edit by JlACEer, can you please justify your reasoning for it since you didn't provide an edit summary? I might be confused here but the edit seemed alright to me... thanks :D Justiyaya 09:50, 7 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you undo my Six Flags revision? The IP editor who added that statement has been admonished multiple times for adding poorly sourced or unsourced material, and is likely about to get suspended. There is no source to back up the statement "extremely insurmountable." Furthermore, Six Flags did not close the SeaWorld exhibits, Cedar Fair did. The lines you restored are not supported by the cited material.JlACEer (talk) 16:29, 7 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Justiyaya Thanks for bringing up this issue to my talk page. Sorry for taking so long to reply. Yes I accept the fact that yes it was a wrong rollback here. Really sorry JlACEer for reverting your good faith edit like that. Did I leave you a warning? If yes, then please remove it as they are really shameful for me. I reverted it because you removed the fact that "Six Flags retained ownership of the animals and closed down the SeaWorld exhibits.", but again I forgot that Wikipedia does not rely just on facts, but on verifiability. I see that from next time I have to be careful about these things.
PS: Justiyaya How do you follow what I do here? Do you see my contributions everyday? Isn't it boring? How are you so much patient? ItcouldbepossibleTalk 05:52, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Itcouldbepossible Nope I don't follow your contributions, (as I said before) I've stumbled upon that one when going through Special:PendingChanges. I did go though your contributions once but only like 50 edits or so when you got adopted by Formal. Unrelated but I think you are far past having a basic under standing of English (see your userpage), consider changing it :D. Anyways, thanks for replying and the explanation, happy editing! Justiyaya 07:38, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Justiyaya Why won't it be. It is my third language. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 07:40, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Well, my third language is Spanish, but that doesn't mean I necessarily only have a basic understanding of it. Justiyaya may be alluding to frequently used categorization schemes like the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, where a "basic" level would equal to A1 or A2, and if you go through those descriptions, you'll probably agree that you exceed these levels by now. But of course, it's not all that important. AngryHarpytalk 07:48, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@AngryHarpy It really makes me proud to know that so many people watch over me. Nick Moyes says that my English is really good and he says that sometimes it looks like that English actually my first language. You may refer to Special:Permalink/1070784340#Don't bother to ask me again?? where I got in a little trouble because of phrasing words in a wrong manner. Its not Justitiya's fault. Everyone thinks differently. And its really not important. Far more things are happening on my talk page. You may see below. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 08:00, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
As Angry Harpy said, it really doesn't matter, and it's definitely more or less subjective, but personally I think your English skills is quite impressive and would probably exceed what the userbox says on your user page (probably more impressive considering this is your third language :D) anyways yeah there is probably far more important things happening so thanks and happy editing! @Itcouldbepossible: First of all, no he's not my friend. He's a stalker and a harasser who's only into evading his earlier blocks, stalking people and harassing other editors. Yes, he is Princepratap1234 who can't resist his behavior and comes back every now and then to repeat the same. He thinks evading my privacy and revealing my personal details here and there would do anything good to him. Yes of course, you can restore your earlier version of talk page. ManaliJain (talk) 08:28, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
See, I don't know whoever this person is, all I know is that he's Princepratap1234 who's stalking and harassing me since months through his account and different IPs. Now, the fact that he knows so much is because he used that email feature through which he got to know my full name and then he stalked me on social media (LinkedIn, Instagram, and everywhere) and now that he's blocked on Wikipedia plus on my social media, he's using my personal details to harass me. Get it now? I had no idea about this but now that I've experienced being stalked and harassed, I now know that these stalkers can stoop onto such a low level. @Mstae12 Sorry I cannot do that, because there are good IPs too who guide me. If I protect my page they won't be able to help. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 13:53, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
at least for a week you can get your talk page protected and ask the friendly ips to msg in my talk page for that 1 week Mstae12 (talk) 14:01, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Mstae12 Thanks for the sweet offer. But that can not be possible. Messages are to be left on the talk page of the person, who is intended to get it and not some one else. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 14:03, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Itcouldbepossible you too get talk page protected Mstae12 (talk) 13:53, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
i dont have these disturbing ips who vandlize my talk page but that ip has been constantlty trobling you Mstae12 (talk) 13:59, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Mstae12 I don't care if he troubles me or not. He will at some point of time get bored and stop doing so. That is how I handle with LTA users. You can see my talk page for more details. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 14:00, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
oh ok
i read you need about bengali wikipedians maybe i can help you with that Mstae12 (talk) 14:02, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
To 171.76.244.128
No if you did not follow the guidelines. Or else then why are you blocked? ItcouldbepossibleTalk 13:54, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Itcouldbepossible: Just ignore him, he speaks the same thing again and again through all his IPs. Plus the reason he's behind me is that his user account namely Princepratap1234 got globally blocked because of his behavior of bullying, harassing, stalking and his other tactics that he did to me and another user namely Pri2000. Read: [16]. ManaliJain (talk) 14:19, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Mstae12: Thanks for the suggestion. Just to let you know, my account was semi-protected last week for a few days but I guess again the page has to be protected for the same reasons. ManaliJain (talk) 14:19, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
ya i actually saw that Mstae12 (talk) 14:27, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Pri2000 Hi Pri. You are 'pretty sure' but I am 100% sure about it. And the same bullying Manali Jain behavior still exists. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 02:10, 10 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Pri2000 He gave away her social media details and the current institution that she studies in. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 02:11, 10 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That's very bad , He creates many ip adress and files fake sock cases ,I saw he created a SPI for @Pri2000 Mstae12 (talk) 03:37, 10 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Mstae12 For your information, no one can create IP addresses. It is assigned by the ISP that you use. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 03:38, 10 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I know we can't create IP adresses ,But that person comes with many and harrasses people like @ManaliJain ,@Pri2000 and many more Mstae12 (talk) 03:42, 10 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
He is harrasing me by telling I am sock of a account I don't even know . Mstae12 (talk) 03:44, 10 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Mstae12 Ok, don't worry. Checkusers are investigating the matter and they will soon come to a decision. You will not be blocked unnecessarily. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 03:55, 10 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Mstae12 Ok, he is from many places. Sometimes he is from Uttar Pradesh, sometimes from Hyderabad, sometimes from Punjab, and from where not. But tell me something. How does he know that you are from telengana? ItcouldbepossibleTalk 05:03, 10 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
it is on my user page , but i don't know about that acc Mstae12 (talk) 05:10, 10 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Don't use @ for pinging, just write username 27.58.144.76 (talk) 07:44, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I know that. But the @ is automatically added. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 08:04, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Deny

[edit]

Hi - thanks for that ping. Please stop responding to this individual - it's worth reading WP:DENY and WP:RBI. If you suspect that an IP editor is them, ping me or drop me a note, but don't reply to them. I won't be reinstating those diffs - it's not your fault that someone chose to post that stuff here, but vile harassment is not welcome anywhere here. Girth Summit (blether) 08:19, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Girth Summit for the same, I kindly appreciate your help. ManaliJain (talk) 08:30, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Girth Summit Ok so please then restore the edits you removed. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 08:48, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not going to discuss this further. Please read through the links above, and drop this. Girth Summit (blether) 08:53, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Girth Summit Sorry for bothering you. But its actually Manali who agreed. Still if you don't want to restore the edits, then you are free. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 09:09, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
But its actually Manali who agreed. Hey, I didn't agree for the revdeled versions to be restored but I meant that you can restore your earlier version i.e. before the revdel. Sorry if revdel was a thing you didn't wanted on your talk page but the user mentioned personal details leading to harassment, and that's why revdel was much needed for the same. Thanks, ManaliJain (talk) 12:59, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I received your ping, but I'm not going to reinstate those edits. Their deletion implies no wrongdoing on your behalf, and their reinstatement would be of no benefit to the project. Now, please let's stop spending time on this. Girth Summit (blether) 09:11, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Girth Summit I thought that deleting the revisions might be shameful for me as this is my talk page, but thanks for assuring me. Do as you wish. But may I ask some questions regarding the process you did? ItcouldbepossibleTalk 09:14, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Certainly there is no shame in having deleted edits in the history of your talk page - that's very common, I've got some in my own. You can ask me any questions you want to, but there will be some things I'm not able to discuss with you - go ahead. Girth Summit (blether) 09:15, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Girth Summit You deleted some revisions, but what I have written is still there. How is that possible? I thought that the whole conversation would be wiped out. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 09:17, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
In this edit, I redacted the link that was placed on the page. However, anyone would still be able to see the link if they were to look at the older versions of the page that contained it - so, I applied an action called revision deletion to those versions. That action doesn't change later versions, it just means that non-admins can't see those particular revisions. You can read more about this at WP:REVDEL. Girth Summit (blether) 09:21, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Girth Summit Yes, but revdeling can also delete content isn't it. That was had happened in the Teahouse. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 09:23, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Revdel doesn't delete content - it deletes versions of the page. If I had blanked the section first before applying revdel then the content would also be gone - that's probably what happened at the teahouse. Girth Summit (blether) 09:27, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
A copyrighted content was removed and all subsequent revisions were removed until the copyrighted content was finally gone. I lost two questions there. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 09:24, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Girth Summit You can see Special:redirect/logid/125390012 if you want. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 09:26, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry you lost questions. Sometimes, unpicking exactly what needs to be removed can be complicated and time-consuming, and it's easier for the admin removing the content just to revert to an earlier version and revdel everything. You can always ask your questions again. Girth Summit (blether) 09:29, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@ManaliJain No problem. It is obviously a case for revision deletion. Personal details should not be revealed here. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 13:01, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, thanks for getting it! ManaliJain (talk) 13:08, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination

[edit]

When you nominated the userpage of Robi Dakua‎ for speedy deletion, your reason was "what the hell is this?" That's not particularly helpful, and an admin might decline it. It needs to fit into one of the criteria for speedy deletion - in this case, it was a case of WP:U5, blatant misuse of Wikipedia as a web host. I changed the tag to read . --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 13:55, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Drm310 Ok, thanks for doing it. But I don't think it is U5. The userpage was total junk. But thanks for doing it. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 13:57, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If someone is using it like a blog, personal website or social media page where they make lengthy posts completely unrelated to Wikipedia, then it's U5. After translating the text, this user's page looked like their personal writing or poetry, so U5 applied. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 14:09, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Drm310 Ok got it. Thanks. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 14:11, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion applies if the page meets the criteria, not if the page is simply bad enough. – AssumeGoodWraith (talk | contribs) 14:05, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Declined speedy

[edit]

I declined your speedy nomination of User:PranitMehta, as I don't think it was unambiguously promotional. I've left them a message regarding the userpage guidelines so they're aware of acceptable content. I've also let them know about the paid editing disclosure policy because it looks like it applies to them. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 16:17, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

gdp of Delhi at Delhi wiki page

[edit]

Hello Itcouldbepossible, In one of your edits at Delhi you changed the gdp of delhi to $110 billion from $200+ billion the source that was provided as per edit request is not up to date at all the figures are completely wrong have a look at this https://www.visualcapitalist.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Global-Wealth-PPP-Distribution.html in this link which is up to date delhis nominal gdp is more than $200 billion $272.603 billion to be exact and ppp is more than $500 billion and these figues are from an international website, these figures make sense because delhi contributes more than 8% to India's Gdp and a simple mathematical calculation ie 3.25 trillion*8/100=$200+,its not possible that the gdp figure would be $110 billion, i request you to please update these figures at Delhi and please remove redundant pdf files which are not reliable as they can be interfered with. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vijaydanny (talkcontribs) 13:02, 15 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Again, please take care when draftifying articles. Two more articles you draftified, E. K. Pillai and N. Rajagopalan Nair, are clearly notable via WP:NPOL. Curbon7 (talk) 07:18, 17 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Deepfriedokra Yes, I know the fact that user can remove content from their talk pages on their will, but sometimes it is necessary to revert the removals, as the huggle program starts generating warnings from the beginning. So even if the user has received level 3 or level 4 warnings in the past, the huggle program would start from level 1 again. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 03:49, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds like a good reason to use WP:TWINKLE😜 --Deepfriedokra (talk) 04:10, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. You had previously moved this article to draftspace in December, but the same user who originally created it decided to recreate it at List of programs broadcast by Cartoon Network Arabic earlier this month. Help fixing this issue would be greatly appreciated.

On another note, just taking a small look at the user's edit history, most of the edit summaries are a bunch of nonsense, as well as their edits as well, with a whole bunch of vandalism/other nonsense. Thinking I might bring it to WP:ANI, fyi. Magitroopa (talk) 06:50, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

FYI- WP:ANI#Eggsafertoareo- nonsense edits/summaries, vandalism, disruptive editing, etc.. Magitroopa (talk) 07:03, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Magitroopa Thanks for bringing up this problem to my talk page. I really appreciate your watchful behavior. I have moved the article back to draft space Draft:List of programs broadcast by Cartoon Network Arabic(2). And this new draft would redirect to the previous one. And yes, on taking a look at his contributions I see that he either doesn't leave an edit summary, or writes rubbish in the edit summary. You did a really good job by taking up the issue at ANI. I think a WP:NOTHERE block will be imposed. Also just to let you know, I have left him a notice regarding using misleading edit summaries. For the time being lets wait and see what happens. Happy editing. Regards. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 07:52, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Regards HenkSt123 — Preceding unsigned comment added by HenkSt123 (talkcontribs) 11:12, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

HenkSt123, if you have a reliable source that indicates his name was spelled with two r's, then you should add it to the article and maybe even discuss the matter on the article's talk page. Otherwise, we have a source that spells it with a singular r, so that is what the article should call him by. Primefac (talk) 11:17, 21 February 2022 (UTC) (talk page stalker)[reply]

I really shouldn't have to explain why taking a photograph of someone's passport and posting on Commons (of all places!) is a terrible, terrible idea. Not only is it a huge security risk for them, it is not usable as a reliable source for verification purposes: there's nothing connecting that document to the article in question (there are likely many people named Gary or Garry France in the world). Please do not attempt to re-upload the image. Primefac (talk) 13:49, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Primefac Ok then, so what should be done? Should I let him change it to garry? ItcouldbepossibleTalk 16:00, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
it is not usable as a reliable source for verification purposes - so... no. Primefac (talk) 18:59, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Primefac Also I am not very much knowledgeable. Can you tell me what security risk can arrise? ItcouldbepossibleTalk 16:01, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Now again you are Blogs 19. I really don't understand why you are linking me to the SPI case of Amkgp. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 03:15, 25 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

information Note: the above is the IP sock of User:Blogs19 spamming articles and user pages because I reported those IP and socks and they got blocked. They are doing in WP:REVENGE. You may check the SPI archives of User:Blogs19 and I have been removing 'Susovan Sonu Roy' from articles like Kora Pakhi etc. 2402:3A80:6B0:82D7:50FA:E98E:ACF1:F83C (talk) 12:42, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Its a mere coincidence that the IP of Sonu Susovan Roy obtained 2402:3A80 IP and asked for article creation so that they are not caught. In fact for a long time I am removing 'Susovan Sonu Roy' from articles like Kora Pakhi, Jamuna Dhaki etc. Also, if you are clear you may remove the entire above discussion started by LTA User:Blogs19. Thank you. 2402:3A80:6B0:82D7:1489:1E5F:CA95:2A9E (talk) 13:07, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for doing so. I have read all the SPI cases very carefully. But again, thanks for the warning me before hand. But the confusing part is then who is 2404:4060. It is a coincidence that you and and the susovan promoter got the same IP. I understand that. But then who is 2409:4060:2E01 who is linking me to Amkgp SPI case? ItcouldbepossibleTalk 03:48, 25 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

information Note: Above LTA IP is User:Amkgp see this SPI Archives there clearly mentioned about this LTA IP. They are also doing busy in WP:REVENGE game. Do not fall in their trap.

First of all even if he is Amkgp, he is not an LTA. I don't think you know the meaning of LTA. It means Long Term Abuse. Amkgp only did logged out editing and created run n fly. And that was where he ended, and that doesn't make him an LTA. You must read WP:LTA before you call anyone the same. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 03:53, 25 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) Itcouldbepossible knows the above IP is a sock of User:Blogs19. You are only coping my style and does not even know to sign after writing. They have previously posted similar messages randomly on Admin pages like that of Liz [25] [26](you and Shinnosuke15 have replied) etc. 2402:3A80:1A42:458A:149:4C21:E567:983C (talk) 13:21, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
