Molton Brown is a British fragrance and personal care brand founded in 1971 by Caroline Burstein and Michael Collis. Known for its perfumes, home, and bath and body products the brand was acquired by Kao Corporation in 2005.[1]

History

Founded as a hair salon in 1971 on South Molton Street the business diversified in 1990s launching a hotel, travel and leisure division which supplies hotels with skin and beauty products.[2]

Japanese company Kao Corporation acquired Molton Brown for £170m in 2005.[3]

Products are manufactured in the UK.[4]

Awards & recognition

In February 2013 Molton Brown was awarded the BUAV Leaping Bunny stamp of approval by Cruelty Free International certifying all of the brand's products to be free from animal tests under the international Humane Standards.[5]

In 2013 Molton Brown was granted a Royal Warrant in recognition of their status as "Supplier of Toiletries" to HM The Queen – Master of Household.[6]
