Tip of the moment...
User Subpages
Many users like to create user subpages to store various bits of information such as welcome templates or other information. For example, if you are drafting a new page that is not ready to "go live", or proposing major changes in redrafting an existing page, a user subpage may be very useful. To create a subpage simply visit your User page and then append the name of the subpage in your browser's URL bar. For example, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:CoolDude would become http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:CoolDude/MySubpageName. When you press the ↵ Enter key you will be prompted to create the new subpage. If you no longer need a subpage, or wish to have it deleted, you can mark the page with – – Read more: To add this auto-randomizing template to your user page, use {{totd-random}}

After making the two MGB userboxes for me earlier this month, you very kindly offered to help me again in the future.
Well – I would be thrilled if you were to make another one indicating that same message as shown on the MGB GT.
Below is an image that I would like you to use.
I have "cheated" a little, in that I have taken the photograph from the Wikipedia Land Rover Series article, but,
apart from the fact that mine has the old-style (grey metal symbols on black metal) numberplates, and does not have those rather modern-looking overtaking mirrors on the doors,
one would swear that it is an image of mine.
Obviously, I imagine you may wish to use a different image than this, should you know of a more suitable one.

I also own the original (removable) "full tilt" top – with sliding side-windows – in antelope, the original colour.
I look forward to hearing from you.

MGB Greenhouse
Hi. You seem to have forgotten that was a common metaphor when cars were developing large windows but maybe you were too young . . . :) Eddaido (talk) 04:31, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
Good morning Eddaido,
I wish! I bought my MGB GT Reg No TRO 707J brand new following the Earl's Court Motor Show in 1970. Colour: "Glacier white" Fitted with wire wheels and overdrive. I made only one modification and that was to have a Webasto sun roof fitted before delivery on November 5, 1970. So it is just about 42 years old. I was 28.
I still have it, and because I have always garaged it when not in use, it has still the original paintwork.
(I made the edit because I thought the term too out of date for the current reader)
Thanks for dropping by. What is your connection with MGs? -- Gareth Griffith-Jones/The Welsh Buzzard 06:50, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
Good evening Gareth. My first MG was one of the first MGBs (1962) (possibly pre-production, certainly pre-announcement, I used to be able to recall the chassis number) acquired used in 1964, traded in in October 1967 for an MGCGT which, more than half paid for, didn't in the end arrive until almost the end of 1968 (stored outside in a factory carpark waiting for part(s) I've always suspected). Wish I could have afforded your high standard of loyalty. Knew I was a bit older than you but not all that much! All my Welsh farmers were in Monmouthshire. Regards, Eddaido (talk) 07:47, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
Hello, Thanks for the link to that Talk page and for my going here – "A Phaeton is a style of open car or carriage without proper weather protection for passengers ..." The 'wonder of Wikipedia' eh? Well if it is evening with you and it is now 09:55 hrs (GMT) then I guess you must be out there somwhere in the Pacific Ocean.
All the best, -- Gareth Griffith-Jones/The Welsh Buzzard 09:55, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
I only wrote because I thought you were unfair to revert the IP's edit. I'd no idea WP actually had an article about it! and yes, sometimes we send coaches to Wales which is a bit of a variation on coals to Newcastle. Best wishes, Eddaido (talk) 10:40, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
We love him to bits. We want to keep him forever. I have been back to the MGB GT section and made a couple of revisions – do you approve? Cheers! -- Gareth Griffith-Jones/The Welsh Buzzard 10:48, 2 November 2012 (UTC) Postscript: Looking forward to the autumn tests in Cardiff. -- Gareth Griffith-Jones/The Welsh Buzzard 11:46, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
Milan Entry
Apologies for changing the entry without an account, but I noticed that either the date or the king was listed wrongly--Louis XII didn't become King of France until 1498 and the first invasion of Italy in 1492 was led by Charles VIII, his cousin, who died in April 1498. I wasn't certain what would be the least confusing way to fix the error, so I did what I could. Assuming you're the original author or the last editor, it might be worth clearing that up. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.232.221.66 (talk) 19:49, 2 November 2012 (UTC)

Allt för Sverige
Gareth,
I have recently made some changes on the Allt för Sverige page that you reverted. I'd like to dialogue about why those changes were made, with the primary concern being one that moves the page beyond its focus on any one season or any one cast member. Multiple cast members from both seasons have now had similar experiences to Mr. Clark's, including return trips, reunions, tv appearances, and interviews with other media. To be honest, the page currently reads as much as a page about Mr. Clark as it does about the show. Given that his experience in the show is no more valuable or unique than any other cast member, this seem to stretch the spirit of what such pages are about.

A little disappointed.
In regards to your views on the English people, whom I live among on a daily-basis. To be honest, I don't understand why so many of you guys hold these views - is it because of the chequered history between the two countries? It's almost like the Catholic original sin - the English today are forever condemned and ganged-up upon by their neighbours because of stuff that either happened a long time ago or simply isn't relevant to the individual. It's like my brothers ex-girlfriend, she had a Welsh Aunt - who got drunk and bad-mouthed the English whenever she got a chance. Drunk maybe, but it just goes to show nationalist sentiment makes people loose their minds at times. It's so primitive, and all I get is accusations of holding my own agenda when all I ever go by is evidence in the article. I most certainly do not have my own agenda - I stay away from Israel-Palestine articles only on this project because those are THE articles I know I might not be neutral on. Anything else is just circumstantial. --Τασουλα (talk) 16:24, 11 November 2012 (UTC)

- Where is the indication that I have shown any "... views on the English people ..."?

Indentation: Being a stickler for correct talk page indentation, I am fascinated ... (User:Wavelength appears to not understand the discussion)
I am curious to know how this revision of Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style, by you at 20:58, 14 November 2012, improves readability. Does the usefulness of "<br>", "<br />", "<p>", and "</p>" vary on different kinds of devices? Does Wikipedia have a page (or pages) explaining these things?
—Wavelength (talk) 00:13, 16 November 2012 (UTC)
- It helps the readability of the wikitext source code, and even the rendered page for visually-impaired users, to use proper XHTML coding. When you misuse "indentation" (actually list-formatting) markup like you were doing, it makes it hard to tell where one person's comments begin and another ends. Replies on talk pages are marked up with a
:
(or::
, etc., to show later indentation) at the beginning of a person's comment. These actually have semantic HTML meaning; each indicates a new, separate entry in the list of posts that the talk page consists of. This can make accessibility more difficult, by making it hard to determine what content is actually part of what post. Misapplying these list/indent codes to generate line breaks and new paragraphs within comments is messy, and confusing to later editors. Most of us just figure that over time, which is why most talk pages are formatted pretty well. The lazy way is a bad habit to get into, as it causes problems (requiring a total refactor) if regular:
indents or*
bullets are converted (e.g. to show a headcount in a poll or whatever) into autonumbering with#
's. The proper code<br />
generates a line break, and<p>...</p>
delineates a new paragraph (<br />&;lt;br />
is a sloppy way to attempt this, and will be converted to a single<br />
by most browsers and devices). The usefulness of these codes does not vary by browser or device; they are basic XHTML, and work on all platforms that can read Wikipedia, from desktop Linux, Mac and Windows boxes to iPhones to Android tablets. I'm not aware of a page explaining this here, but I have not read the basic Help namespaces files on editing, formatting, etc., in years. They may or may not cover it. It's not a huge issue, anyway. Just something to be aware of, and which bored WP:GNOMEs like me will tweak when we come across code that needs fixing. PS: I started refactoring the indentation in the first place because someone replied to a::
comment with another::
comment instead of a:::
, and everyone else's indentations were off by one after that through the entire thread; only noticed the misuse of indents for linebreaking half-way through. — SMcCandlish Talk⇒ ɖ∘¿¤þ Contrib. 07:06, 16 November 2012 (UTC)- Thank for your reply. I have carefully studied your explanations, and, wanting to be open-minded about opportunities for self-improvement, I have spent extra time in trying to understand your points. I agree that someone replied with the wrong degree of indentation and that every subsequent reply was off by one degree. However, I am unable to agree about "misuse" of markup, "misapplying … codes", and the "lazy way" and "a sloppy way" to show line breaks and new paragraphs". On the rendered page, I saw no difference in line breaks and paragraph starts. In the source code, I find it more difficult to find source codes in the midst of a "paragraph" of source text, than to see those separations made in the way that I was making them. Also, I do not expect that colon indentations or asterisk points would be converted to autonumbering with number signs. When there is a poll, there can be an instruction for respondents to use number signs to facilitate counting. I am unacquainted with the experience of visually impaired users using screen readers.
—Wavelength (talk) 17:48, 16 November 2012 (UTC)- I am here to improve the encyclopedia, not engage in sport debate for my own entertainment. Life, including WP editing, does not require unanimity, and I do not need your agreement to know I'm right about this. If you want to keep using sloppy code that makes things difficult for other people, go right ahead; I'll continue to feel free to refactor. :-) I've already clearly explained that it's about the source code, not the rendered page, so this entire attempt at conversation is seeming pointless anyway. — SMcCandlish Talk⇒ ɖ∘¿¤þ Contrib. 23:31, 16 November 2012 (UTC)
- Being a stickler for correct talk page indentation, I am fascinated. Your reply has explained clearly to me something that I have stumbled into only recently. I promise to never again use a
:
or, if appropriate, multiple colons in the same posting after the initial indentation. One question, is the position of the space important? I have been typing only "<br/ >" which seems to do the job, and never "<br>" ... indeed, is the space always required? Sincerely, -- Gareth Griffith-Jones/The Welsh Buzzard 17:40, 16 November 2012 (UTC)- The
<br>
style is old 1990s HTML. The correct syntax in modern standards is<br />
(and the space does belong there). MediaWiki is smart enough to auto-correct<br>
,<br/>
and even the completely invalid</br>
to<br />
by the time it hits the reader's browser, but WP content can be reused in any way people see fit, including copy-paste of source code into systems that don't have that feature, so it's always best to use correct, modern XHTML. — SMcCandlish Talk⇒ ɖ∘¿¤þ Contrib. 22:08, 16 November 2012 (UTC)- Perfectly clear. I am most obliged. It is a constant source of amazement to me how helpful and patient you are to those who have come to computers late in life. Best wishes, -- Gareth Griffith-Jones/The Welsh Buzzard 23:06, 16 November 2012 (UTC)
- Just for background, the
<br>
style was a mistake by the early developers of HTML. HTML was an implementation of SGML, and SGML requires that all elements be terminated either in<whatever>...</whatever>
fashion, if they contain something, or<whatever />
style, if self-contained. The HTML developers forgot that in the early versions. The distinction became more important when XML was developed, and the Web moved to XHTML, a re-do of HTML as an XML implementation. I know a whole lot about a little but only a little about a whole lot. I have enough brain cells left that I can pick up new topics and figure them out well enough for WP very quickly (lately it's the Meyers Manx dune buggy, for no particular reason other than the awfulness of the article bothered me), but lost enough of them that I drop topics pretty quickly and easily, too (I haven't touched Albinism, Albinism in humans, etc., in years because the once-stupid, wannabe-articles are now so journal-citing rigorous and medical/scientific they're beyond my competence unless I go to grad school. ;-) Don't feel you need to learn more HTML; just absorb what you need to know to get the "job" done and not write "blecherous" bad code. I picture a future WP where, if and only if I did not want to use WYSIWYG editing effects/styles buttons & pop-up menus, I could as a "power user" begin an article something like
~bi~The Decline and Fall of Western Civilization~ is a ~ld~film~...
and not only would that be the equivalent of what we now do as'''''The Decline and Fall of Western Civilization'''' is a [[Motion picture|film]]...
, it would also not be visible as either form of such gobbledygook to anyone else editing unless they turned on a "show me the geeky bits" option (the short or long form, as they prefer), but otherwise render as more natural language in the source code, e.g. asThe Decline and Fall of Western Civilization is a film...
right in the editing window, much like how a word processor works, and of course would render as "The Decline and Fall of Western Civilization is a film..." in reading mode. I could see it as long-form wikimarkup –'''''The Decline and Fall of Western Civilization'''' is a [[Motion picture|film]]...
if I chose to view it that way, but with a single click flip it back to the short~bi~The Decline and Fall of Western Civilization~ is a ~ld~film~...
version.I am making up that "shorthand" on the fly as an example of simplified coding, where
~
would delimit a "New Wiki Markup" code block, in~commands~content~
format [or somewhat longer~command1~command2~content~~
form, when commands might need to be easily severable, but I digress...]. In the example,b
meant "bold",i
"italic",l
"link",d
"default meaning, if the link term is ambiguous" (i.e. first entry on the disambiguation page). At that level of abstraction, a blind user could use voice tone instead of~
to indicate when markup began and ended. The underlying MediaWiki editing engine tech is advanced enough we could implement this in less than a year if there were enough will (i.e. community consensus on details, plus developer willingness to upgrade MediaWiki to do it)! Blah blah blah, I can ramble sometimes.

- Thank for your reply.

Yes, I put it back to 5' 10" (click on this link) – thank you for spotting that the correction needed doing in the first place.
He is a remarkable young man. I have been following his progress with the Blues and Wales for a few years now. Are you a player?

Subclasses of laptop
Hi, Gareth
I wanted to let you know that I reverted your change in Windows 8. The reason is succinctness. You see, Netbook is subclass of laptop. If it is a netbook, then it is a laptop too.
There is of course, a second reason: Not giving some of our certain visitors (cough!) a reason to start cramming other genres in. Surely we don't want a sentence that runs like "it runs on notebooks, subnotebooks, netbooks, slimbooks, ultraportables, ultrabooks, ruggedized laptops, Microsoft Tablet PCs, Tablet PCs and tablet computers." And believe me, they will do that if we let them feel it is appropriate. I am ready to bet they have never read WP:GACR.
Best regards,

- Hello Codename Lisa,
- Thanks for the heads up! Of course, you are correct. Actually, I added "notebook" – and now you have taught me another thing new – I had never heard of 'Netbook' before reading this. I have only recently upgraded to Windows 7, having been on XP four weeks ago.
Pleased to hear from you. Sincerely,
-- Gareth Griffith-Jones (talk) 17:29, 11 August 2012 (UTC)::Hi again
- XP? Wow! Actually, we have a venerable HP Mini 2140 netbook in our household that is still on XP Home Edition. Anyway, when I saw your original edit, I assumed you did not mean "desktops, laptops, laptops, tablets"; so, I thought you probably meant something beside a "full-sized laptop". I interpreted it to "netbook".

- Hi. Actually, I am a bit of late adopter in spite of being an enthusiast. I installed trials of Windows 2000, XP, Vista, 7 and 8 not long after they were released but I never adopted 2000, Vista or 8. XP and 7 were obvious winners. Best Regards, Codename Lisa (talk) 19:39, 11 August 2012 (UTC)

Certainly not vandalism
Hello Gareth
I hope I am not bothering you, but I thought I'd better drop you a note about this edit. I felt that the sentence was queer, but vandalism? I certainly don't think so. It can be the effort of a small child attempting to write like adults.
In general, I have learned to think twice about calling an edit vandalism; and when I am certain that it is, I try to find an alternative reason for reverting it.
Best regards,

I feel that 'I should clear the air'...
Good afternoon Jeni,
I feel that 'I should clear the air' because it unsettles me to have bad feeling hanging around near me in Wikipediaworld.
You should understand that I was only trying to 'lighten things' with my edit summary on the M48 motorway article here when I quoted Max Boyce's famous expression.
Furthermore, I was, and still am, confused with this event. From that revision, I believed that Martin was in support of the removal.
I know he must have told you that I asked him to confirm this by my e-mailing him, and I must add that he has not made a reply of any description. I mean no harm. I am fairly new to Wikipedia and still have a lot to learn from well-established editors such as yourself.
Last night I rewrote The Route section. Perhaps you would like to comment on my copy-edit. I particularly appreciated your adding this ref. –

- (talk page stalker) Jeni is offline. Some say she has a social life outside WP, but I'm suspicious. Anyway, I've had a look at your edit, and I can confirm that the M48 violates the standard motorway numbering rules as documented in National Archives File M112/67 ("Traffic signs on motorways and major roads proposed numbering of motorways") as authored by the Ministry of Transport, which I have camera copies of (somewhere). Per WP:SOURCEACCESS, this is acceptable, as all is required for verification is that a member of the public can access them, which you can if you can get to The National Archives (United Kingdom) in Kew and have suitable identification. Hope that's of use. --Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 19:12, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
- Your reply is more than just helpful. Thank you.
My argument is that as it is the original "zone boundary",
and as the Wales section follows the A48,
and as it is a loop leaving and returning to the M4 motorway,
it is correctly numbered.
I also value your replying to me yesterday regarding the A41/A1 in London.

- You are kind in taking the trouble to inform me. Thank you –
Thanks for letting me know
Thanks for letting me know that you revised my changes to the celibacy article. I was new to it, and I hadn't noticed the 'edit summary' option.
Was the issue with the lack of an edit summary, a lack of significant changes or a perceived POV?
I mainly just wanted to reduce the siginificant bias of the article which is apparent if compared to the other articles on celibacy: Clerical_celibacy Clerical_celibacy_(Catholic_Church) I removed one statement that, if it wasn't simply false, was at least very misleading, I removed a Bible quote and the author's personal interpretation which was clearly there just to push an ideology, I qualified (slightly) some statements to make them better represent the information they were based on, and I did add one fact with a reference which I thought essential to the article topic.
I think these changes were constructive and although I do have a point of view, I was quite fair and I left it on the other side of neutral from my own view.
I know my edit left it still not a very good article, but I thought it was at least better than it was.
Do you think I should try again with an 'edit summary' like I've described above, or was there something else fundamentally wrong with my edit? Thanks for your help! Sbsand (talk) 12:07, 3 December 2012 (UTC)
- Good afternoon Sbsand (talk),
You are correct in suggesting the lack of an edit summary caused me to suspect your editing, but it was the removal of a whole paragraph without explanation that resulted in my reverting your revision. I have replaced the paragraph and restored your editing. Your explanation is sound in my view and I believe the paragraph removal was a formatting error. Please have a read through of the section and let me know if you would like more done.
Sincerely,

Many thanks for all your kind words, they are appreciated. It's nice to hear from you again Gareth (I thought maybe my uncouth tendencies had previously sent you fleeing). I used google to "translate" your quotation from the Latin; it came back with "But meanwhile it flees irreparable period of time, while we, charmed with love of each of the". Change to 'Soul'
Hi Gareth,
Thanks for your note - the change is actually crucial, there is no mention of the soul in the Old Testament / Torah and so any discussion of the Hebrew terms must make it clear that the words translated into the word 'soul' in English do not mean 'soul'. The 'soul' was a Greek concept added to Christianity & Judaism after 300AD. Let me know if you need more detail.

List of The Sopranos characters
Good luck on your work on this article! It has been a bloated mess for quite some time. I had a go at some parts of it quite a while back, but eventually gave up. Many of the character biographies are complete recapitulations of various episode summaries, which is excessive and silly. Clearly, the fanboys have been at it. And, as you pointed out, much of the writing is dreadful. But, as Pauly said, "On it goes, this thing of ours." Cheers! ---The Old JacobiteThe '45 14:48, 17 December 2012 (UTC)

- I thanked Chris on his page, and he put it amidst his barnstar collection. I think that more civility and empathy would go a long way to making this place better. Editing should not be a lonely business, but should be a collaborative avocation. I could whine about the state of things, but preaching will do no good. 2012 Six Nations Championship
You really are hard work. The week by week standings table was discussed. You could not even be bothered to contribute to the discussion. The table is ugly, unnecessary, unreferenced and completely meaningless. Considering each team plays different opposition each week, a week by week standings is completely irrelevant to the final table. The week by week standings is not 'long-established' having only been added a month ago, and in that time removed several times. Why are you so intent on keeping it? Please stop describing its removal as vandalism, you clearly have no concept of the meaning of the word. Consensus is against its inclusion (remember, consensus is not a vote, but a weighing up of the arguments). Presently there is no logical reason to include the table, whereas the fact that it is unreferenced and completely meaningless are valid reasons to not include it. Perhaps now I have registered you can extend me the courtesy of actually politely responding in a reasoned manner. Prof IP (talk) 13:27, 20 December 2012 (UTC)
- Perhaps you should address this subject towards the editor who created the table, included the table in the article and then completed it week by week. As you know, this is not me.
I see no reason for your removing the table intended for the 2013 tournament, considering we are several weeks away from its opening.
I appreciate your registering probably more than you may realise. I have no desire to fall out with anyone on Wikipedia.
Sincerely –
– Gareth Griffith-Jones |The Welsh Buzzard| 13:44, 20 December 2012 (UTC)- I also do not wish to fall out with anyone, and I apolgise for my blunt attitude towards you. However, I am not sure that the week by week standings was updated week by week, but was rather added in a single edit just a month ago ([1]) (correct me if I am wrong, but I see no evidence of it in the history during the tournament.). I think I have made my reasons clear for not having it on the 2012 article, so won't go into that again. As for 2013, I don't particularly see a need there either. The table tends to be updated after each game, giving an up-to-date view of things, and not really sure that week by week standings would add anything during the tournament, but am willing to be convinced otherwise... Prof IP (talk) 13:55, 20 December 2012 (UTC)
- EDIT: If it is to stay during the 2013 tournament however, its orientation needs to be flipped such that 1st through 6th are aligned vertically, as in a typical league standings, the current orientation is counter-intuitive - at least to me. Prof IP (talk) 13:58, 20 December 2012 (UTC)
- I entirely agree with your EDIT post script. As for this year, I have no axe – ax for my US (talk page stalker)s – to grind. I shall remove that table now –

My Welsh is limited to that which is easily recoverable on the internet. The last greeting was taken from a portion of an article that ended in the phrase "in 2001." Except for the UP (which had a large immigrant population of Welsh and Cornish miners), we do not have many self identified Welshman in the area that I know of. They were, however, the bestowers of the Pasty, which is found in local cuisine. You should try them, they are great ... 7&6=thirteen
(edit conflict)... I beg to differ. Not a Welsh dish. You may be thinking of other areas settled by Cornish miners ... parts of south Wales. –

Hi Gareth, my wife and I loved your message and loved the robin (just ached to offer him a mealworm!) I wondered about selecting a pic to post in return. I'm afraid it ate the robin....
Hello Gareth. Thank you for your seasonal greeting on my talk page
a few days back. Apologies for my tardiness in responding, I'm afraid
I succumbed to a bout of "low mood" that rendered me unable to engage
with fellow members of the species for a few days (don't be too
concerned - it's a condition I'm prone to pop in and out of...).
Anyway, I couldn't find a genuine Welsh buzzard with which to decorate
your talk page (you perhaps wouldn't want the competition anyway), so
here's an Upland Buzzard instead, looking quite grand.
Best wishes for the rest of "the season",
PaleCloudedWhite (talk) 20:31, 25 December 2012 (UTC)
- Good morning PCW,
Never mind, the buzzard needs all the help on offer. I am sad about the robin though ... "tooth and claw" and all that ...
One of the best things about this extraordinary, crazy, Wikipedian existence – no, it is the best one – is that we have the privilege of forming sincere relationships with a small number of individuals dotted all over several continents of whom we would never even have heard mentioned. You are one of these that I respect profoundly.
I was saddened to note our loss in Wikipediaworld of Nadia (do you remember my asking you about "dashes" when I was very much a 'new boy'? This was only my second experience of friendly lurkers – you were my first.
I am in accord with you over the need for solitude. I empathise fully.

- Not 'niece' – 'greatniece'
Good evening Deb,
Good revision of the film. Just want to pick you up on one point.
May I refer you to this post - my copy of one that I made on User talk:Trappist the monk thirteen months ago.
I have had cause to use it several times since when other editors have made the same mistake as Trappist. Indeed I have noticed him using it himself to advise other editors.
Today I have not changed it back as it might appear churlish.

- Dear Gareth, I thought twice about this. However, I only watched the film this afternoon for the first time, and one of the differences from the book is that Henrik refers to his three brothers - Harald, Richard and Gottfried. Harriet is Gottfried's daughter, making her Henrik's niece. In the novel, the relationship is different. Deb (talk) 22:14, 29 December 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for your prompt reply, Deb. I watched the film first, some time during the Autumn of 2011, and then bought the three books. It is always tiresome when filmmakers alter an original story to suit their need for brevity. Obviously you are correct with regard to what this film tells us about the relationship. Even in the novel it becomes a little confusing as Henrik oscillates between greatniece and niece, but of course, to do that is normal family practice, isn't it?
Would you want to edit the "great-uncle" towards the end of the summary?
Sincerely –
– Gareth Griffith-Jones |The Welsh Buzzard| 22:30, 29 December 2012 (UTC)

- Hello Gareth, you are a very conscientious editor, and always very polite - I think you'd make a very good ambassador for Wikipedia (though if you were to take up such a post, you'd probably have to watch some of your gossipy tendencies, haha!). I had indeed read your reply - thankyou for your enthusiastic and full response. I hope you can make allowances for my rather random approach to editing - I tend to flit about, and get sidetracked down little avenues of interest - which means that I don't always follow threads in a diligent manner. (Also, speaking more generally, I spend most of my time just trying to earn a living - often leaving little energy left for Wikipedia). If I don't reply to postings, please be assured it's not because I've dismissed them, but rather because either 1) I'm knackered or 2) my attention's been snagged by something else, or 3) a combination of the two. PaleCloudedWhite (talk) 12:05, 29 December 2012 (UTC)
- Ha, ha! I appreciate your kind pronouncementn. I do enjoy the trivial threads that we have enjoyed over the past year, although the appalling weather must have made following your profession something of a tribulation. I can easily believe you have been feeling "ready for the knacker’s yard" - Gareth Griffith-Jones – The WelshBuzzard – 13:04, 29 December 2012 (UTC)

Happy New Year, GG-J
Thank you for your Geetings, I found them late. I was busy on german articles like Gustl Mollath. It appears germany owns itself the luxury of holding a political prisoner, locked in forensic hospitals due insider knowledge of money laundering and blackmoney transfers, while the limitation period to sue all the facts expired. A secret report of the banks internal revision no. 20546 from 2003, pubished in 2011 confirmed "all accusations have been found as true". While the news come out in parts like "slices of the salami sausage" due personal rights. "A complete revison of the case would be a good advice for the general attorney" the bavarian prime minister Seehofer said after a two months crisis management and back holden informations of his ministeress of justice Beate Merk. (In Germany politics and the general attorney are strictly separated, but under revision and some leaks in the law)

Martin Scorsese
As I wrote when I made the edits, what I removed from the "Director Trademark" portion of the Martin Scorsese page were items that aren't within the purview of a director, and therefore cannot be a "director trademark". A director doesn't choose to begin a story in medias res, the screenwriter does. The director doesn't write the moral ambiguity of a character, the screenwriter does. Leaving these in the article is a slight against the screenwriters who actually made those decisions. At the very least it needs rewording. Perhaps, "Scorsese often films scripts that begin in medias res" and "Scorsese often chooses screenplays with morally ambiguous characters". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.135.40.248 (talk) 03:27, 12 January 2013 (UTC)

Third Reich
Hi. The flag of Germany in 1937 was the swastika. Like you, I completely disapprove of it but the fact is that it was the national flag of Germany at the time. Personally I find the use of flag icons OTT and one of the drawbacks is that, for articles to be correct when these are deployed, some very distasteful icons have to displayed. I've corrected the skiing article, reluctantly. --86.139.13.7 (talk) 10:41, 12 January 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for the award. Good to see a fellow Land Rover enthusiast. I don't have one at the moment, but in the past I have owned a Series I which I always regretted selling. I also Series IIa like yours, but it was a former motorway recovery vehicle so it had a f**k-off big Perkins diesel in it, hardened diffs, permanent 4wd and air brakes! It could climb up or tow anything. It's a shame they removed the hook otherwise I could have had amazing fun with it. Then I had a LWB Series III County Station Wagon. Later on I got seduced by the Disco - had a couple of those. But then I discovered bikes and the rest is a different story.... --Biker Biker (talk) 20:05, 22 January 2013 (UTC)

Hi GG-J. Thanks for the link - it is fun. Your message is also a fun coincidence as just last night I was thinking that we were getting to the time of year for the Six Nations. Thus I went and checked the BBC America schedule and the only fixture they have listed so far is England v Scotland on Feb 2nd. I'll keep my fingers crossed that we get a least one of Wales matches before the end of the tourney. Best of luck to them and you and cheers!! MarnetteD | Talk 20:32, 24 January 2013 (UTC)

I recall your telling me last year that BBC America only show one of the three matches per weekend – and it is usually the England game. All the best!< /> – Gareth Griffith-Jones – The WelshBuzzard – 01:23, 25 January 2013 (UTC)
- Hi again. Rats to the rough start. I checked the US schedule today and we get to see Wales v France next Saturday so I'll be cheering along with ya even though several 1000 miles will be in between. Enjoy your week. MarnetteD | Talk 08:26, 3 February 2013 (UTC)
- Good morning America! Glad to hear about next weekend.
Wales was magnificent after Ireland's last score. Towards the end I even believed we were going to snatch a victory ... but the final score is 22 – 30
For my part, I am an unhappy Welshman; if Wales had played half as well in the first half as they played in the second, it would have been a resounding victory. With a score of 3 – 23 at the break, it appeared to be a disaster. Three minutes into the second half and the score was 3 – 30, then Wales went on fire and Ireland were, for most of the time, losing the plot entirely.
Final score 22 – 30
So, we will have neither Grand Slam nor Triple Crown this year.
All the best!Gareth Griffith-Jones – The WelshBuzzard – 09:15, 3 February 2013 (UTC)- Post script: Should be good in Paris on Saturday following —this cracking game—both teams having lost their opening match.

- Post script: Should be good in Paris on Saturday following —this cracking game—both teams having lost their opening match.
- Good morning America! Glad to hear about next weekend.
That is more like it!!
A tough defensive struggle is capped off by a wonderful try. Hope that makes your Saturday more enjoyable. In the game we got last weekend the official/ref/ump (sorry I don't know which one is correct) was miked. I liked that as it helped in my learning more of the ins and outs of the game. Enjoy the rest of your weekend! MarnetteD | Talk 18:55, 9 February 2013 (UTC)
- Terrific courage and self-belief—I am so proud. Yes, we have that option to listen in on the referee's mike rather than hear the commentators, by using the "red button", a service offered by the BBC. Does that make any sense to you? The match official is the guy "in the car park" (U.S. parking lot) who has overall control and judges the video replays of uncertain tries scored. I am glad you enjoy rugby. Here is a souvenir for you. Hoping you too have a great weekend. Cheers! –
– Gareth Griffith-Jones |The Welsh Buzzard| 20:32, 9 February 2013 (UTC)- Thanks for the link. So it was the referee that was miked last week. You could occasionally hear him in today's game but that was only when he was close to the field mikes. We have something similar to the red button. It activates the "video descriptive service." I don't have many cable channels that use it but I know that if I had a "dish" instead that those companies offer more versatility for that button. After those losses in a row I hope that this game means that the team have righted their ship and will experience more success in the rest of the tourney!! Road trips to both France and Italy means that the fans got to eat well :-D Cheers. MarnetteD | Talk 20:53, 9 February 2013 (UTC)
2013 Six Nations Championship
Good evening Jon,
He seems a good chap; now to play for Wales
Hope all is well with you –
– Gareth Griffith-Jones |The Welsh Buzzard| 21:11, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
Hello Gareth -- Nice to hear from you! Yes, we are well, and with a lot less snow than some I have heard tell of... ;-)
As for Andries, to go by his picture, he looks as though he might be better met off the field than on it, once he gets down to business!
Still, anyone ready to sing alongside the Welsh deserves my respect; I couldn't even dream of it! For one thing some of the most passionate passages of traditional Welsh songs move me close to tears, which does nothing for one's ability to carry a tune, even if one has the ear, which I certainly do not.
Incidentally, I think that a great tragey has struck Welsh choral singing; when I was a child one could tell a Welsh choir through a battle in a hurricane; now they sound much like any other choir, most of them better than most of course, but still, what has happened to that wild note? Mind you, the closest one comes to it as far as I can tell is indeed when a rugby crowd does their stuff...
I am out on a limb of course; I like the weirdest music, Ndebele (such as Zulu), Cossack, and of course the old style of Welsh -- and, let it not be told in public, I even like bagpipes, though I draw the line at harpsichord and most German lieder. One must draw it somewhere!
All the best and good luck with the weather,
Jon
- Good afternoon Jon,
Great to hear back from you so soon and thank you for a great reply.
Still snowing today off and on. I hate it
All the best to you both!
Sincerely,

Just for your amusement Cheers!

Ooookay! A right young Barry John or Gareth Edwards, if only he can get out of the stands and onto the field! Well, we all have to start somewhere. ;-) JonRichfield (talk) 11:50, 24 January 2013 (UTC)
- Still snowing off and on here.
I had my six-monthly check-up with my dentist yesterday – all in perfectly good order, as usual – and he had returned from his native South Africa just last Saturday, having spent the previous four weeks there. Quite a shock to his system arriving at London Heathrow Airport wearing light clothing. He and I always have a good chat about rugby

- Hi Gareth, sorry about the low profile. Too much late-ing and sooning at this end. If your dentist had weather as oppressive as we have been having,it is no wonder that he arrived looking forward to a bit of coolth. I have just returned from a 30-minute mercy errand to a pigeon, on foot, in a hurry, in the sun etc etc, and about 10 minutes of your current conditions would go down sweet just at the moment, I assure you! 60 Minutes would certainly be excessive to be sure. Years ago when I was still human I got sent on a journey to the Hague and London, in February, in exceptionally cold weather, frozen canals in Amsterdam etc, and guess what i had been wearing on the plane? And guess where my luggage was? (Try Singapore!) And guess whether it was the start of the weekend... Oh well, all education to a young provincial ;-)
- Anyway, I add what I hope will be cheering photos taken recently in my own garden and in the national botanical garden, Kirstenbosch. I don't know whether the thought of my sweltering as I took them will cheer you or not, but do your best! :-)
Hi Jon!
Ha, ha! Terrific colours – thanks for the treat.
My dentist made no unfavourable reference to the climate. He wanted to stay on longer and might have done when told at short notice that his scheduled flight was cancelled . When he told me that, I said, "You are too conscientious."
Did you ever get your lost luggage?
– Gareth Griffith-Jones – The WelshBuzzard – 21:00, 29 January 2013 (UTC)
- As far as I can tell, South Africans tend to either conscientiousness that a lot of other people regard as near pathological, or to irresponsibility that some others would see as near pathological. I'll not stand bail for either, though I have been lucky to have worked most of my life with the former type. As for the colours, you should see Kirstenbosch in spring! And some of the local mountains and nature reserves could bring one almost to tears. Go well! Jon
- You too, Jon!
I guess your luggage was recovered.
– Gareth Griffith-Jones – The WelshBuzzard – 22:36, 30 January 2013 (UTC)
- You too, Jon!
Gosh, sorry Gareth! I have just inadvertently demonstrated something that drives my family and friends up the wall; I just cannot keep my attention on anything for long enough to get it done properly. I have an email backlog that keeps me looking in the other direction! I had meant to reply to that question, but missed it when it came to fingers on keys. Yes, I did get my luggage back, quite expeditiously, all things considered. I only had to wait till late on the Monday. My friend and colleague was a conscientious tourist and had brought more cabin luggage than i had, so you can be sure that it was a cold February weekend for one South African, who had just come from midsummer some 10000 km south. I had very little ready cash on me, but I still have somewhere a cheap plastic pocket comb I bought from a Dutch kiosk. I might sound a bit cheerless about it now, but actually, young and first time out of the African continent, we did tackle it pretty cheerfully at the time. Since then I have retraced those steps better prepared, and a good few besides, on most of those occasions with wife and children. Spent two years in London on secondment actually. It was rather a wrench to leave behind some of our new friends when we returned to SA. I meant to send you a bird pic this time, but my system has gone mulish. I think it is my ISP doing a major system maintenance. Another day maybe! All the best! Jon
OK! Things seem to be working again. Here are a couple of shots of one of my favourite birds. Lovely eyes and touching habits. See you! Jon
Hi Jon! Glad your PC is back-up-and-running—thanks for introducing me to such lovely, delicate birds. You are a talented photographer.
– Gareth Griffith-Jones – The WelshBuzzard – 19:44, 2 February 2013 (UTC)
Gosh! It must have been a match to watch, whether by Welsh or Irish! Frankly, I have practically given up watching matches of such a type, because when I have an interest in either the winning or losing team I wind up exhausted and often depressed. And when I watch a match between teams I don't know from Atilla the Genghis, my sympathies keep getting engaged by the losing side and flipping as the match progresses. I am like a certain professional cricket commentator who actually walked out of a tight, see-sawing 50:50 knuckle-biter, saying "I can't take any more of this!" If I remember correctly, that match went up to the last ball or possibly the second last. But remember, Gareth: you Celtic sides do a lot of that sort of thing; going in and blowing up when you are the favourites and next match when no one gives you a hope, creaming the top opposition! Oh well, it seems as though Wales might accordingly be the team to bet on next year... Good luck on that one. Go well, Jon
All so true, Jon. My mother told me this when I first started playing "Rugger" at prep school: "Some say Rugby is like a religion to the Welsh. It is not. It is more than religion."
If you were to find a few moments when you would like a laugh at someone else's expense, you may be amused by this I have copied it to my Talk before it is archived from the original project.
– Gareth Griffith-Jones – The WelshBuzzard – 18:42, 4 February 2013 (UTC)
- Honestly Gareth; I don't know whether to be amused or depressed in turn or together... Pee wossname seems to have chosen his monicker well. Part of my depressed feeling arises from contemplating the presumed states of mind, the self-absorption, self-righteousness, and sheer disruptiveness of such little squirts and drips. The very idea of a mind so constrained gives me claustrophobia. This certainly was cheering in the responses the little nit brought on himself, and I shall determinedly concentrate on that aspect. Life is too short for the other! ;-) Cheers, Jon

Progress on WP:Snuggle and work log
I've been making some progress on Snuggle development recently and I could use your feedback. Specifically, I've created a work log that I plan to update every time I get a chance to work on Snuggle. My intention is that you'll be able to watch that page to track my progress so I can get your feedback on features when they are early in development. The most recent entry (also the only entry) discusses new functionality for interacting with newcomers via Snuggle. I posted some mockups in the work log that show how I imagine the new features to work and I could use some feedback before I start writing the code. Thanks! --EpochFail(talk • work) 20:30, 27 January 2013 (UTC)

User:Gareth Griffith-Jones' attitude
I have a bit of a problem with the attitude of User:Gareth Griffith-Jones. Since I came across him about a week ago, I've sensed nothing but aggression and even a hint of bullying. The edit summary on this revision is evidence of that, in my opinion. He has also been quite aggressive towards me when I attempted to make changes he didn't like on the recent Six Nations Championship articles. I made this same point to Gareth earlier today, but he just deleted the message from his talk page; this is, of course, his wont, but I feel that it would have helped his position if he'd shown at least a little remorse for his conduct. Because of that lack of remorse, it seemed appropriate to bring the issue here, since any further attempts at direct communication would no doubt have been met with the same silence as just now. – PeeJay 19:17, 2 February 2013 (UTC)
- Note As expected, the notice of this report was deleted within a minute of me posting it on his talk page. Clearly there is an attitude problem here and a lack of respect for Wikipedia and its users. – PeeJay 19:36, 2 February 2013 (UTC)
- I looked into this. You are involved in a content dispute over at Talk:2012 Six Nations Championship. Gareth has attempted to support a compromise in that discussion while you and others have not. Although that doesn't lend any validity to either position, your attempt at starting this incident report confuses the content issue with one of conduct. I looked at your diffs and your interaction with the reported user and find nothing out of the ordinary. In other words, the conduct of the user is well within the normal range. As a result, I recommend the closure of this thread. Viriditas (talk) 20:30, 2 February 2013 (UTC)
- I disagree. The other user has not really attempted to provide any reason for their position on the issues in question, making compromise irrelevant. They have simply dismissed the status quo using a variant of WP:IDONTLIKEIT and in my opinion they have been overly aggressive about it. The actual issues at hand are irrelevant, it is the conduct of other users that needs addressing. – PeeJay 21:14, 2 February 2013 (UTC)
- As an outsider to this conflict and the involved personalities, let me tell you what I see: an inflexible position on your end, combined with an attempt to harass your opponent on his talk page and then using that harassment to justify a conduct report on ANI. There's nothing for anyone to do here. You should instead focus on resolving the dispute on the article talk page. Viriditas (talk) 21:18, 2 February 2013 (UTC)
- Also, it's perfectly alright for him to remove the notice from his talk page. - The Bushranger One ping only 00:45, 3 February 2013 (UTC)
- There are no Wikipedia policies governing how long someone is supposed to wait before removing notices or missives from other editors from their user pages. There are likewise no Wikipedia policies requiring that an editor show remorse to you for his sins, real or imagined, and there are sure as hell no policies justifying you bringing him to ANI solely on the strength of him failing to do so. Would you care to spell out just what Wikipedia policies you claim he is breaking? Ravenswing 08:11, 3 February 2013 (UTC)
- In my opinion, anyone who states "The actual issues at hand are irrelevant, it is the conduct of other users that needs addressing." is the one with the attitude problem. The actual issues at hand are the only reason anyone should be here doing anything. From the looks of things it appears you don't want to compromise, don't want to be particularly civil yourself and are hoping that you can ignore any real discussion and then get the other user in trouble to get him out of the way so you can do what you want to do on the article. The best way to prove to us that you are acting with the best interest of the project in mind instead of petty personal desires is to start talking about the actual issues at hand. DreamGuy (talk) 19:29, 3 February 2013 (UTC)

Pembrokeshire Media
Hi Gareth, we added Pembrokeshire Best Magazine to the list of media in Pembrokeshire because it is relevant now that it circulates to more people than all of the other newspapers put together in Pembrokeshire. The magazine is now registered as a newspaper and is also archived at the national library of Wales.

- Yes it does— actress conjures up images of "ladies of the night", which is why the majority of our stars of stage and screen abhor the appellation. I missed that CFD, and I am rather surprised at its outcome –

Hyman Roth
Good evening Gyrofrog,
I am fascinated with your citation-needed template edit on Hyman Roth as this is the first time I have come across this version. As I should like tobe able to employ it myself from now on can you point me in the direction of how I would format it:
"At about this time, Roth manipulates Michael's brother Fredo into giving him information he uses to make an attempt on Michael's life in order to avenge Moe Greene[citation needed]."
... for example, is the |1= variable?
Also the full stop follows the template.
Cheers! –

- Hi, the

Leave/Live - The Bourne Legacy (film)
I see you reverted my correction live together and went back to "leave together". Live makes sense to me, after having watched the movie; leave doesn't. Theoretically both verbs could work. However, if you perform the logical analysis of the sentence, only live works.
The fact that in the English language we have an and conjunction, means that we are adding an additional thought to the sentence: they pay him to take them out of the country, but they do not pay him leave together nor do they pay him to live together. Therefore the action to live/leave together is independent of the action of paying him. Thus to live/leave together is a sequential action after being taken out of the country. If this is the case it could not possibly be that leave the country is sequential to being taken out of the country. Could you please justify your revert?--Gciriani (talk) 03:06, 10 February 2013 (UTC)
- Good morning Gciriani,
I recall we last "spoke" on Rhotacism in The Life of Brian in September 2012.
Your argument above is sound. I have no disagreement with it.
Perhaps the fault rests with the original copy-editing: how do we know? You have watched the film. You know that they leave together, but ...
.... how can you know that they will live together?
Our job is to report on what the film shows, not add our perception.
I will have another look at it now.

Hello, Gareth!
You invited me to "e-mail via the Wikipedia link—see the Toolbox on my pages" - and as I am still finding my way around WP, perhaps I found the correct place, or perhaps not.
I'll tell you something if you'll tell me something, okay?
Obviously we are both determined readers of fiction, or we wouldn't be enjoying/suffering through Stieg Larsson.
I am particularly interested in science fiction, though I love mystery, horror, and thriller fiction too, with less of an interest in fantasy, except for the books which I read as a kid. I expect that I'll contribute mostly to such pages at WP. And, thanks to you, I won't make a lot more embarrassing mistakes.
I admit that I would love to learn more of the Welsh language from you.
And here's my query: You met me as a person who is making mistakes all over the place, and you were nice enough to help me, and to help clean up. So why do you want to know me better, and what do you want to know about me?
Remember, I've had Lisbeth Salander in my head for a couple of weeks, and you self-identify as a hawk, so I am going to be cautious.
I am also glad to have met you. I am always grateful when someone saves me from making mistakes that the whole world can see!
Gareth, I hope that I am writing to the right place. This seems public, so I won't say more, for now. Cael diwrnod da! (Did I say that correctly?) Abyssopelagic 10:36, 16 February 2013 (UTC) Abyssopelagic
Ah! You've self-reverted, but I thought I'd just leave you this anyway: no criticism, just a comment that I entirely agree with your edit summary when you did revert. I was on the point of reverting his edits myself until I happened to notice a discussion on WP:ANI where someone else had had a similar issue. It was only that interchange that stopped me doing what you did! See | here for the ANI discussion.Regards. DDStretch (talk) 12:11, 16 February 2013 (UTC)

Was she playing down her looks?
Hi-- a small thing about recent Susanna Reid edit; it does say she played down her looks in the referenced article, here is the quote; "Playing down her looks, she laughs and replies: “I can’t believe there haven’t been lots of fabulous women living in Croydon between me and Kate.”

Could you have a look at it and assess it against Wikipedia:WikiProject_UK_Roads#B-class_drive and Wikipedia:ASSESS#Grades for me, and edit the template on the talk page accordingly? I did boldly grade it as "start-class" when I added the wikiproject template but I hope it is a bit better than that... Similarly, I have undertaken a major re-build of the A345 road article, if you have time could you grade that as well? Cheers, Baldy Bill (sharpen the razor|see my reflection) 00:32, 20 February 2013 (UTC)
- Good morning Bill,
Have read and admired both articles — first time and I consider both worthy of a B — excellent editing.
Well done!

- Thanks Gareth. One imaginary virtual box of chocs for you... although I suspect a box of mg parts would be more welcome! Baldy Bill (sharpen the razor|see my reflection) 18:53, 20 February 2013 (UTC)

My edit on "Made man"
Hello Gareth. I saw you reverted my edit on the article "Made man". I see your point, but what was I trying to do was to add a linguistic point of reference. For example: there are articles like Vienna sausage that include the name under which the article subject is known in its country (or language) of origin. As I see it, it's the same thing here: all I wanted to do was to make sure that when someone reads "uomo d'onore" in any source (whether it is in Italian or in English, or in another language), it is clear that the source is talking about a "made man". I think that articles on English nouns that derive from a foreign language noun should mention the original version; otherwise, it seems to me that the article is incomplete. :-) --Triple 8 (talk) 20:25, 22 February 2013 (UTC)
- Good evening Triple 8,
Thank you for dropping by. I realised at the time what you were doing. It is fine with me to return your revision to the article. I love Italian—it is the most beautiful of languages.
I have just added this template Italian: uomo d'onore
If you see this, please leave a brief note. Cheers! –

British road junction list templates
Hi Gareth
There is a discussion at Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Road junction lists#RJLUK set of templates regarding a proposed set of templates for British Road Junction Lists.
BTW, do you have any views about this change. The original is at [2] Martinvl (talk) 21:56, 7 March 2013 (UTC)
- Yeah! Pride! "Long-established" just means no-one has bothered doing anything about it, right? There's no need for these flags. They are purely decorative. We should be using words like Wales and England, not flags. If, of course, those flags are accessible and provide all that information to blind readers then I would simply ask "what is the benefit to our readers to see odd-sized flags of Wales and England"? Particularly when we shouldn't be using flags without country names (per WP:MOSFLAG). Of course I look forward to your response. The Rambling Man (talk) 22:13, 7 March 2013 (UTC)
- I prefer that this is kept within the space of the article's Talk page –

- If it helps, I played hooker for twelve years (and then winger for two...!) so I know what goes on in the front row...... The Rambling Man (talk) 19:53, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
- ... but who will you support tomorrow (both matches)?
I like your style of negotiation. Well done!

- If I was a betting man, it'd be on Wales, Ireland and England this weekend. Wales have the toughest game, Scotland seem resurgent and are playing for pride, while your boyos are still in with a chance of winning the whole thing, so that's where the pressure will be.... I'll be in Italy on Sunday so I'll watch Swing Low on Rai 1 or Rai 2, we'll see....! The Rambling Man (talk) 20:51, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
Six Nations update
Hi GG-J. I am so glad that you like the thread happening on my talk page. I feel blessed by the experiences that Wikipedian such as Redrose and you have shared with me. I wanted to let you know that BBCA schedule shows that we will get to see the England v Wales game on the 16th. If I have followed things correctly I think that (depending on this weekends results) it might be for the Cup and that will be something to see. Cheers and best regards always. MarnetteD | Talk 02:42, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
- Good morning America! Yes, you are correct.
For Wales the away-match test against the newly super-charged Scotland (kick-off is at 14;30 hrs GMT tomorrow) is going to be a cracker. First game this weekend* ...
On Sunday, England play Italy at Twickenham—surely a chance of Italy winning now that Parisse can take part—albeit tiny.
... *The Welsh are a superstitious tribe. We are not able to mention even the possibilities of "Super Saturday" as John Inverdale coins it.
Good to hear back from you! All the best!
Sincerely,
– Gareth Griffith-Jones – The WelshBuzzard – 08:57, 8 March 2013 (UTC)- I got to see a few highlights of Wales win over Scotland at halftime of the Fr v Ire game. Many congrats!! Next weekend can't get here quickly enough. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. MarnetteD | Talk 19:12, 9 March 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for the links. The having to win by seven points makes the hill a little steeper to climb but that doesn't mean it can't be done. Cheers. MarnetteD | Talk 23:21, 10 March 2013 (UTC)
- As ever thanks for the updates. Sadly when I tried to access the scrum link I got the message "Not avaiulable in your are" but I do appreciate your attempt to get it to me. Saturday can't get here fast enough!! MarnetteD | Talk 16:00, 11 March 2013 (UTC)

Thank You Very Much!
Hi Gareth!! I hear you loud and clear and now I will go through all those links you've given me. Actually, I'm pretty intimidated here love it if you helped me gt around Wikipedia! – Gareth Griffith-Jones |The Welsh Buzzard| 12:58, 12 March 2013 (UTC)- I thought I'll start writing something nice on my page and suddenly a messe pops up saying I gotta stop editing and can start only on march 13th because some bloke was apparently blocked and it stated some IP mumbo jumbo and so I was stopped. I logout scared that I did something wrong and when I return everything is normal? So is that how it usually happens?? — Preceding unsigned comment added by The Wikimon (talk • contribs) 13:43, 12 March 2013 (UTC)
- I just read through your page and you seem very particular that everyone put the 4 ~s... Is that only for your page??? If so then I'll start doing it right away. And if you don't mind, might I call you GG-J cause your name is tough to type and I saw others doing the same.. And I'll call you that only of you're ok with it... The Wikimon (talk) 13:53, 12 March 2013 (UTC) see I use it :)
- Thanks for the explanation ... I don't know exactly why you got that, p'haps your IP address was allocated to another in the murky past. It is history now and we can forget it.
It is a requirement that you sign and date your posts on article Talk pages and User Talk pages only. The four tildes is the quickest way.
I have answered your other queries on your Talk. Please do call me GG-J and please keep editing. All the best –

I'm sorry for taking so long to reply to your note. I had reverted the IP's edit because "peak of human physical conidition" is not a skill; that statement was completely out of place. Thus I had classified the edit as a test edit. Maxim(talk) 14:39, 16 March 2013 (UTC)

- Fair play, more than deserved the win. Humiliating for England. Enjoy it! The Rambling Man (talk) 18:52, 16 March 2013 (UTC)
- Granted the number of matches that I've seen is limited but I thought that first half saw both teams hitting as tough and hard as I've seen. Then for about the first three minutes of the second half I thought "Oh no did they use too much energy in the 1st?" Fortunately the rest of the play showed that I was completely wrong!! Now the question is which was more satisfying last years Grand Slam or this years comeback against the odds? Not a fair question I suppose I'll bet you enjoyed them both. Cheeeeers!!! MarnetteD | Talk 18:57, 16 March 2013 (UTC)

Thank you for the Scotch ... I am still intoxicated — with pleasure — and more than several celebratory glasses!
And to think we were worrying over seven, or will it be eight, points difference?
I don't want to flood you with links and considered this the most suitable souvenir
Yours sincerely,

Post script This is your answer to your *unfair* question: this win, Gareth.
- @ The Rambling Man,
I appreciate how hard Saturday must have been for you as an England supporter. Your posting above is welcomed and for my part, I apologise for the unpleasantnesses of the previous days ... those parts of days that I should like to be able to forget. We started off on the wrong foot (both of us, I think) then it got better, only to finish with acrimony. I am not content with myself and regard your posting here as an "olive branch" which I grab with pleasure –
Well done!
