Heya SwisterTwister,
And thank you for your message on my talk page. Very much appreciated!

WWCD

I noticed an WP:AGF mistake and made a correction for you. You had added that Ohio State was buying WWDC (FM) in August...while WWDC is the same frequency, it is located in Washington, DC. So I moved your edit in whole to the correct page at WWCD. Don't worry, I have made the same mistake before. :) Have a Good Day! - NeutralHomerTalk18:44, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

CSD A1 on K. Lakshmana

Just letting you know I've removed your CSD A1 from K. Lakshmana, it was expanded substantially subsequent to your tagging. The article does still have issues, and I've left it with a BLPPROD. I have no objection if you want to pursue additional deletion processes if you think the BLPROD isn't enough. Monty845 15:45, 30 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLP

Hi, I am curious to know the process that marks living people as Unreferenced (on articles such as Bruce Edward Rothschild,Harhys Stewart) instead of UnreferencedBLP. Is there anything that can be done so that this approproriate tag is added? Regards, SunCreator (talk) 10:42, 6 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You !voted for deletion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ângelo Correia. The article has been improved since you !voted and I personally believe the article is very unlikely to be deleted in light of reliable sources being added that establish that the subject meets WP:POLITICIAN. Inquiry on AfDs

Hi SwisterTwister, I'm interestd in the AfDs process in Wikipedia and notice that you once involved in AfDs. I'm not sure whether you find that some discussers are admins while some are not. I'm just wondering whether you care about the adminships of the participants in deletion discussions. Does the referee's adminship affect your attitude towards the result of AfDs? Thanks. Reflist

Hello SisterTwister,

Thanks for your welcome. Might I ask you a question? How can I create a reflist?--HannahLiberty (talk) 07:23, 21 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again,

The references just don't work out as I wan't them to and I cannot figure out which mistake I made. I used Cite error: There are <ref> tags on this page without content in them (see the help page). just as I was supposed to.--HannahLiberty (talk) 07:31, 21 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Thank you for your help SwisterTwister, and I do need a lot of helo.I am very bad at this editing stuff but I dont want to quit!

Your question re RFA

Although your edit count is respectable, I think your chances would be much better if you wait a bit. I notice these numbers from Part 3 of this interesting page:

  • The (average) edit count of new admins has increased year on year. From a midpoint of ~11,000 to ~19,000.
  • Only one person since 2009 has gained adminship with less than 3,000 edits (He had over 1 million edits across wikis)
  • Editors who passed with less than 10,000 edits - 2009: 44 (36%), 2010: 20 (26%), 2011: 5 (18% so far)

Things that are certainly looked for are:

  • at least some constructive article work - DYKs, GAs, FAs are all good, but less important than many people think, I myself have very little, but in fact it was not a problem at my RFA
  • accurate CSD tagging
  • accurate contributions to pages like AIV and UAA
  • contributions to discussions such as AfD displaying a sound understanding of policy - because closing AfDs is one of admins' more contentious jobs
  • no (or not much) record of losing one's cool in stressful situations

Those may give you ideas for areas to work in to improve your experience.

I am not really a good person to ask about this, as I am not an RFA "regular", and for that reason I have not spent any time looking at your actual record. I suggest you spend some time reading recent RFAs, particularly failed ones, both to see the sort of issues that are raised and also to see if you can identify some regular contributors who would be better people to ask. Look for people who do not always support, and who seem to give sensible reasons. You will also see, and should be warned, that RFA can be extremely stressful - there are complaints about this, but I don't myself think it a bad thing, because an admin can expect stress and abuse and needs a thick skin.

Regards, JohnCD (talk) 21:48, 22 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, you tagged that as unreferenced. This was incorrect. What was needed was to help the article creator with the reference in the infobox by putting ref tags around it and adding a references section. Along with this, the refimproveblp tag was appropriate. Incorrectly tagging an article as unreferenced can be rather WP:BITEy, and should be avoided. Thanks, LadyofShalott 23:21, 22 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I had no intention of being bitey but because the "references" cited were written as text and didn't have any indication of <ref>'s, I wouldn't have ever seen them. I did glance through the article, but my mind must've registered those references as part of the article. Cheers, SwisterTwister talk 00:08, 23 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The point is that you need to look more carefully before tagging. LadyofShalott 00:12, 23 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

CSD tags

I would greatly appreciate it if you patrolled the pages you tagged for CSD. I constantly check an unpatrolled page to find a CSD tag on it. Thanks. --Σ talkcontribs 06:43, 23 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome pages

Hi. When you tag for speedy an article from a new user, if there is no Welcome template on their talk page it is helpful to add one, preferably before the speedy notice - it makes it less WP:BITEy, and gives the newbie useful links like WP:YFA which should help them do better next time. {{firstarticle}} is a good one for that situation. It should be subst-ed, and include the name of the article, like {{subst:firstarticle|James swift}}. That particular template has an oddity: unlike most of them, it includes your signature automatically. If the first article was advertising, then {{welcome-spam}} is good. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 09:13, 24 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello SwisterTwister. I am just letting you know that I contested the speedy deletion of Odorless colorless tasteless chemical poison in the worlds water supply, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: A7 doesn't apply to things that aren't A7, in this case, an essay. Thank you. --Σ talkcontribs 07:03, 25 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Well, being an essay is also not grounds for speedy deletion. Being a blatant hoax is, and that is the criterion under Boing!saidZebedee ultimately deleted it. LadyofShalott 11:56, 25 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
[1][2] --Σ talkcontribs 19:14, 25 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Well, despite GFoley's stating that as the reason, it is not a valid speedy deletion criterion, but there are valid ones that apply to both those "articles". For #1, it was a case of pure vandalism; #2 was a clear case of A7. LadyofShalott 22:16, 25 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've just invited Gfoley4 to join the discussion. LadyofShalott 22:21, 25 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It appears to have been an IAR deletion. --Σ talkcontribs 02:54, 26 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hello. This is all a misunderstanding. I deleted 2 pages after "TheSigma" asked what criteria the page in question met. (In IRC) It was not a speedy deletion. It was an IAR delete, which I thought I made clear on IRC. My apologies, GFOLEY FOUR!02:58, 26 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, ok, thanks for clarifying that. (I of course knew nothing of the IRC discussion.) LadyofShalott 03:05, 26 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

--Matthew Thompson (alt) talk to me bro! 06:42, 29 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sure enough, the author has added references. It's on the companies website, so if this doesn't get any third party references it might get sent to AfD. I usually add BLPPROD quickly as it is really just a warning to the page author they must add references to avoid deletion. I find that {{Template:BLP unsourced}} doesn't properly get the message across that BLP's must have a reference. --Matthew Thompson (alt) talk to me bro! 07:01, 29 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

[XXXXXX] was a sixteen year old divorcee, who had married at thirteen and divorced at fourteen.... [XXXXXX] was convicted...." please tag them as G10: Attack pages, rather than BLPPROD, so they will get speedily deleted. Thanks. Reaper Eternal (talk) 20:50, 30 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Attack? It appears to have been an actual event [3] with a few films based on it. [4] with a film starring Brad Pitt in a film loosely based on it [5]. Notability of the person is in question but the event was real.—Theda 21:12, 30 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry Theda, but G10 explicitly covers pages created and composed solely of unsourced negative biographical material. There was no neutral version to revert to, so I deleted the page. It does not matter if the page is based off a real-life event or even true. These pages are deleted per WP:BLPREMOVE (the reason for WP:G10) to prevent libel from entering. Reaper Eternal (talk) 13:53, 31 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, Reaper Eternal. I understand your rationale Reaper Eternal, normally I would do the same thing but I was prompted to look because it stirred something in my memory probably from some TV show and I do usually check anyway. I would then have deleted it as an unremarkable bio. Don't personally think she is notable though some might disagree, if had thought so I would have referenced it. I wouldn't have noticed it if I hadn't gotten the tasty cookie.—Theda 15:00, 31 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Why thank you very much :D --Joy [shallot] (talk) 08:10, 31 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I see that you marked it as patrolled within a minute of creation. Why did you not tag it as A7? --Σ talkcontribs 04:46, 1 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Atlantic University College

Dear SwisterTwister:

You label my article titled Atlantic University College as an article of "Advertising". I disagree with your opinion, because Atlantic University College is only a "redirect" of the Wikipedia article previously approved and that was my creation called Atlantic College of Puerto Rico. What happens is that the college was renamed recently and I have done an "update" to the article.

I need your re-review and help in this situation, because I has worked very hard in this article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CarlosRomero1 (talkcontribs) 05:24, 1 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I just wanted to let you know that I have changed the deletion rationale for Acharya Bhagwant Shrimad Buddhisagar Suriswarji Maharaj Saheb. You tagged it with a BLP Prod. However, although the article does not explicitly say that the subject is no longer living, given that the article states he was born in 1874, it is a reasonable inference. Hence, BLP policy doesn't apply.

However, it was deleted after an AfD in July. Therefore, I have tagged it for deletion under G4. Singularity42 (talk) 22:00, 9 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, you marked this as "BLP unsourced", although (a) it said quite clearly that he was dead (OK it used "passed away", but pretty clearly!), and (b) it has a link to a news item about him on Ireland's national broadcasting service. PamD 23:01, 9 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

New Page Patrolling

Hi. Thank you for patrolling new pages. I'm just letting you know that you appear to have passed Brendan Kelly (entrepreneur) as OK for inclusion. I have tagged this page as A7 - an article that does not assert the notability or importance of its subject (person). Please read WP:NPP and WP:NOTABILITY and keep up the good work,! Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 06:01, 2 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

you seem to have also passed Roberto Henderson CADCII. But it's an unsourced BLP, and should have been so marked, and, in my opinion BLProdded, for I can find no references at all, not even in google. In addition, the name ofthe article would in any case need changing according to the MOS to Roberto Henderson
I see a number of other cases also where you have missed significant problems. You might do well to check the articles from your patrol log tin the last few days to see what others have thought of them. For example, Larry Bock (Biography), deleted as a copyvio--an article cited so irregularly and titled by someone who clearly does not know our practices, should arouse considerable suspicion. Mette Bach should at the least have been tagged for its very apparent problems; Ivailo Valeriev Iliev needed more than a BLP prod--the content of the article claims only he had an injury that prevented him for competing & I've tagged tit for speedy deletion. Toronto Dermatological Society. is so promotional and non0notable that it needed marking for deletion by one means or another--I used A7, but G11 would also apply. SGHS Rowing Club should have been marked at least for notability, but I went one step further and nominated it for AfD. Ditto with SnapComms, though I could have used speedy. Stone Sink Maintenance is a classic example of how-to, and has been prodded. And, just how Hartley primary school needs to be merged--unless there is something very exceptional, that's what we do with all primary schools.
I haver not gone into all this detail in order to be critical in a negative sense; rather, you do so much patrolling, and so much of it is good, that I think you would find it helpful to see some of the problems, & I hope you'll take it in the right spirit. In general, my experience is that very few articles contributed by first-time contributors do not need a tag for at least one problem. Thus, I find it helpful to look at the contributions history as well as the article history,as well as the article. Then, if it appears that the contributor may show possibilities of becoming a good editor, it is possible to help them more specifically than just the templates. I see you've been checking up to three articles a minute: if I'm doing more than one a minute, I find I'm going too quickly. DGG ( talk ) 04:47, 3 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
