[edit]Hello. I thought I should let you know for your information that this edit of yours constructed to cancel vandalism went some way too far. There are problems when serial vandalism occurs over time which is that some users unaware of the unconstructive elements may have genuinely improved certain parts and a blanket revert will also undo those decent edits. This is what happened here with mine. I had correctly inserted the correct name of his birthplace in accordance with his time of birth, a practice which observes the preferred historical accuracy policy here; I explained it in the summary too. Had you clicked the link and read the article, it will have clarified my point somewhere within it. Unfortunately, when long-term vandalism takes place, the only way to be sure of cleaning the page is to manually rework every piece. Evidently, there is no BOT service which positively identifies vandalism and that what does reverts it instantly. One favoured way of mine is to - like you did - revert to a safe version, but then examine the changes and see if some things appeared fine, check them, then restore those. It's the only way. MSU Interview
[edit]Dear Angelo.romano,
My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the community HERE, were it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.
So a few things about the interviews:
- Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
- Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
- All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
- All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
- The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.
Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. Help with Italian notability guidelines relative to English guidelines for musicians
[edit]Angelo.romano, Could you possibly help me to understand the Italian notability guidelines for musicians relative to the English guidelines? Four months ago, I uploaded the Simone Sello article through articles for Creation, and it was graded as a "C" class article. There was no question as to notability during the AfC process. (I edit, and I also work at creating musician articles that are roughly "C" class upon initial upload. I am quite familiar with the English notability guidelines.) The Simone Sello article has been stable for four months. Since Simone Sello is from Italy, I had the article translated into Italian, and I directly uploaded it on February 22 [1]. Utente:Cotton placed an "Enciclopedicità dubbia" template on the article, and now I am trying to analyze the Italian notability guidelines [2]. I am reviewing "I musicisti di supporto" at the very least to justify Simone Sello's notability on Italian Wikipedia. I do not speak or read Italian well and Google Translate has its limitations. The English Simone Sello article is a very complete record of his work. He has not only played internationally at a professional level for very notable acts, but he has also produced for internationally known acts. He owns three production companies in Los Angeles. However, based on that logic, you have to edit the pages of Sven Goran Eriksson, Antonio Conte, Edoardo Reja, and many more pages. Editing inconsistencies in these pages should be avoided. Thus, I suggest that your edits are inconsistent with many more Wikipedia articles, and can justifiably be reverted.

Ti dirò: al contrario ho trovato estremamente sgarbata la presa di posizione dell'utente che ti ha risposto, il quale ha sostanzialmente bollato come ridicole le nostre motivazioni. Ora, dato che sono fermamente convinto che sia stato fatto un errore nello spostare il titolo della voce, credi che sarebbe possibile richiedere un nuovo spostamento che ristabilisca lo status quo (da Inter Milan nuovamente a F.C. Internazionale Milano). Confrontandomi con l'utente PeeJay2K3 mi è stato detto di aspettare almeno un mese dallo spostamento (effettuato in data 22 giugno). Tra qualche giorno dunque ci siamo. Saresti disponibile ad effettuare una nuova richiesta? A me pare evidente che un discreto numero di utenti condivida la nostra posizione che, al di là ripeto delle risposte sgarbate forniteci, è assolutamente legittima. Cosa ne pensi? WikiCup 2013 February newsletter
[edit]Round 1 is now over. The top 64 scorers have progressed to round 2, where they have been randomly split into eight pools of eight. At the end of April, the top two from each pool, as well as the 16 highest scorers from those remaining, will progress to round 3. Commiserations to those eliminated; if you're interested in still being involved in the WikiCup, able and willing reviewers will always be needed, and if you're interested in getting involved with other collaborative projects, take a look at the WikiWomen's Month discussed below.
Round 1 saw 21 competitors with over 100 points, which is fantastic; that suggests that this year's competition is going to be highly competative. Our lower scores indicate this, too: A score of 19 was required to reach round 2, which was significantly higher than the 11 points required in 2012 and 8 points required in 2011. The score needed to reach round 3 will be higher, and may depend on pool groupings. In 2011, 41 points secured a round 3 place, while in 2012, 65 was needed. Our top three scorers in round 1 were:
Sturmvogel_66 (submissions), primarily for an array of warship GAs.
Miyagawa (submissions), primarily for an array of did you knows and good articles, some of which were awarded bonus points.
Casliber (submissions), due in no small part to Canis Minor, a featured article awarded a total of 340 points. A joint submission with 
Keilana (submissions), this is the highest scoring single article yet submitted in this year's competition.
Other contributors of note include:
Sven Manguard (submissions), whose Portal:Massachusetts is the first featured portal this year. The featured portal process is one of the less well-known featured processes, and featured portals have traditionally had little impact on WikiCup scores.
Sasata (submissions), whose Mycena aurantiomarginata was the first featured article this year.
Muboshgu (submissions) and 
Wizardman (submissions), who both claimed points for articles in the Major League Baseball tie-breakers topic, the first topic points in the competition.
Toa Nidhiki05 (submissions), who claimed for the first full good topic with the Casting Crowns studio albums topic.
Featured topics have still played no part in this year's competition, but once again, a curious contribution has been offered by 
The C of E (submissions): did you know that there is a Shit Brook in Shropshire? With April Fools' Day during the next round, there will probably be a good chance of more unusual articles...
March sees the WikiWomen's History Month, a series of collaborative efforts to aid the women's history WikiProject to coincide with Women's History Month and International Women's Day. A number of WikiCup participants have already started to take part. The project has a to-do list of articles needing work on the topic of women's history. Those interested in helping out with the project can find articles in need of attention there, or, alternatively, add articles to the list. Those interested in collaborating on articles on women's history are also welcome to use the WikiCup talk page to find others willing to lend a helping hand. Another collaboration currently running is an an effort from WikiCup participants to coordinate a number of Easter-themed did you know articles. Contributions are welcome!

From now on, submission pages will need only a link to the article and a link to the nomination page, or, in the case of good article reviews, a link to the review only. See your submissions' page for details. This will hopefully make updating submission pages a little less tedious. Changes to SuggestBot's suggestions
[edit]We have changed the number of suggested articles and which categories they are selected from. The number of stubs has been greatly reduced, the number of articles needing sources doubled, and two new categories added (orphans and unencyclopaedic articles). We have also modified the layout of the suggestions and added sortable columns with various types of information about each article. The first two columns are:
- Views/Day
- Daily average number of views an article's had over the past 14 days.
- Quality
- Predicted article quality on a 1- to 3-star scale. Placing your cursor over the stars should give you a pop-up describing the article's quality (Low/Medium/High), current assessment class, and predicted assessment class.
The method we use to predict article quality also allows us to assess whether an article might need specific types of work in order to improve its quality. The work needed might not correspond to cleanup tags added to the article, since our method is not based on those. We have added five columns reflecting this work assessment, where a red X indicates improvement is needed. Placing your cursor over an X should give you a pop-up with a short description of the work needed. The five columns seek to answer the following five questions:
- Content
- Is more content needed?
- Headings
- Does this article have an appropriate section structure?
- Images
- Is the number of illustrative images about right?
- Links
- Does this article link to enough other Wikipedia articles?
- Sources
- For its length, is there an appropriate number of citations to sources in this article?
